EmlouT great to hear baby is still doing well inside and best wishes for the 18th - really not long to you meet your wee man good luck.

hecklephone · 15/02/2010 09:31

Phew emlou your absence had us all a bit worried there! Delighted everything is well and that your wee man's putting on the pounds. We shall officially stop fretting now. Keep well and good luck for the 18th! X

Shroomer · 15/02/2010 09:31

hecklephone I suspect our other halves are all being snapped at at this stage in our pregs. I'm certainly doing it more often, and then regretting it. Mine hasn't really had a weekend off for ages because he's been doing loads around the house/car/loft/garden getting things ready. And yet I still managed to snap yesterday that he 'hadn't bothered to sort out the car seats yet' (but he had dug up two trees, prepared the veg patch for this year's sowing, sanded draws down, cleaned the car ready for selling it, etc, etc.)

Where are the photos of Evitas' son? I've clicked on her name and nothing happens. I'm not on Facebook if that's where they are.

rebeccacad · 15/02/2010 09:41

Hi Emlou - so glad your LO has made it to 5 pounds - I bet you can't wait to meet him now. We'll all be thinking of you on Thursday.

I'm just briefly back at home between the two halves of my glucose tolerance test. Could you all cross fingers I don't have gestational diabetes please?!

Tip of the day, DH bought me this pillow as an early valentines prezzie www.dreamgenii.com/
I was really dubious about this sort of thing - haven't found extra normal pillows helpful at all. BUT this worked and I've had a couple of the best night's sleep in ages after being a total insomniac. Even though I've only got a few weeks to go it seems worth it.

DH also getting snapped at - though sometimes he is a bit of a twerp - but will admit to blowing things out of proportion at the moment. hecklephone I feel your annoying husband pain!

Loads of Braxton hicks here. Really want to have a baby soon - totally fed up of being pregnant. Am comforted by the fact that all of those in my ante-natal class of 8 people who are due before me have had their (very healthy) babies between 37 and 39 weeks even though they are all first-timers. Now that I've reached the 37 week mark I'm ready any day (she says talking to her bump)!

Pingpong · 15/02/2010 09:45

shroomer if you go to the post natal thread that Pixie set up here then you can click on the link to evitas blog where you will see the pics of gorgeous baby boy evitas.

Caitni · 15/02/2010 09:59

Morning all.

EmLou so glad to hear your little boy is still doing well in you, and has reached the landmark of 5lb. Best of luck for the 18th - bet you can't wait to meet him now!

P&P hope it all went well for you and you're enjoying your brand new DD

Rebecca fingers crossed here for you - hope the GTT comes back negative.

Shroomer I was wondering the same thing about Evita's son! So Smac for shedding some light!

Heckle am with you on the snapping at the husband at times . Still though, you are very pregnant and also ill so I reckon that trumps everything! He better shift that shelf (your desire to make the nursery slightly different makes perfect sense to me).

To all those in their last week(s) of maternity leave, keep the faith ladies. Am starting week two and work feels like a distant memory, which I just did not think would happen when I was in the midst of wrapping things up for a year...am hoping the days at work fly by for you and then time slows down so you can all luxuriate in a bit of "me" time before all the babies arrive!

Caitni · 15/02/2010 10:00

That was, of course, supposed to read "So thanks to Smac for shedding some light". My typos are becoming ridiculous on this thread (still blaming sausage fingers!).

BusyMissIzzy · 15/02/2010 10:12

Morning everyone,

EmLou, great news that he's doing well, and not long to go now! It's so exciting that we're starting to have babies arriving. And evitas' photos have made me all gooey; can't wait to meet my litle girl..

Pixie I didn't realise till I read it on a thread in the Pregnancy topic that you're having twins! Do we have any other twin mums-to-be here? I have had one or two people (including my Mum) comment that I look like I'm having twins, but I'm pretty sure the midwives/sonographers would pikc up that sort of thing.

Hecklephone the only reason my husband is not being snapped at is that all my current frustration is aimed squarely in the direction of imcompetent bathroom fitters. Not to their faces, obviously, I just moan to DH and on here

My pram/pushchair arrived today! I went for the iCandy cherry, with carrycot, and adaptors for carseat. It took me so long to decide what to go for. Am waiting for DH to get home this evening before I open it to have a look.

I wanted to ask a question to those of you doing pelvic floor exercises; when I do them the baby seems to squirm more, like they're making her uncomfortable; could I be squishing her?? She is low down (4/5 engaged), but surely she's cradled in the pelvis which is all bone? I've stopped doing them the past few days just in case! Anyone have any ideas?

Walnut8 · 15/02/2010 10:32

Evitas huge huge congrats! How fantastic and what a cute baby, hope you are feeling well.

Mumbot and Emlou both so close now, how exciting. For what its worth Mumbot, I've also been listening to the natal hypnotherapy CD, it is very calming (glad to know it might work when it comes to the crunch Dalrymps must remember to listen to it more often).

Rebeccacad all fingers crossed for you!

BusyMissIzzy I have also noticed the baby seems to squirm a lot when I do pelvic floor exercises. First noticed it when we did them in yoga and now also when I do them at home. I hope I'm not squashing her either, but I just figure she is getting a bit of a massage! We also went for the Icandy Cherry with carrycot, it's sitting in our hallway expectantly. Feels very light and nice, hopefully it does the job!

Have just gone 36 weeks, still feeling okay just tired. No show, baby still not engaged according to midwife last week. My stomach and pelvis are often incredibly painful when I wake up at night though and I seem to have real trouble getting back to sleep these days (compounded by the fact that as I lie there, I usually start thinking about labour!).

Good luck for everyone this week!

Henrietta · 15/02/2010 10:33

evitas - congratulations
emlou - glad that baby is doing better
got the kids off school this week, not sure whether im relieved to not have to get them ready for school each morn, or dread at having to keep them occupied when they're bored at end of week.
Snapping-am trying to get a nap so I feel a bit less like snapping - oh got to go kids playing up

JasHook · 15/02/2010 10:46

EmLouT so glad to hear all is going well and how exciting to know you will soon be meeting your new little one!

evitas And many yays for you! You are an inspiration to all of us in Denial....

Not much to report Chez Hook. Getting bigger by the second, it seems. Going slowly mad knocking about the house alone on mat leave!

annamama · 15/02/2010 10:50

Good to hear from you EmLou! Best of luck...

I'm also fed up being pregnant! 36 weeks today, baby is welcome to come any time after our neighbours get back from holiday next week... (they are looking after DD).

BulletProofMum · 15/02/2010 10:59

Emlou - great news.
We just need PaPto check in now.

Half term this week so have to drop a tearfult 2yo at nursery when he realised that big brother was going to grandmas' for the day. It's difficult to explain to a 2 yo that grandma find looking after 2 of them hard work

Three and a halfs days left at work!

Then baby can hang on for a couple fo weeks.

I keep getting dreadful spasms down one side of my lower back. The first timeI had them with DS1 I ended up in hospital as thought (inc midwives) that I was in labour.

This time I recognise them for what they are - wind
Horrible pain though. Anyone else get this as I haven't found it described elsewhere?

TakeLovingChances · 15/02/2010 11:01

My sister-in-law rang me yesterday to tell me that a friend of hers had a baby.

This person was due her 1st baby 4 days after I'm due my 1st baby, so hearing about her made me feel a bit jealous

He is a healthy baby, weighed 7lb 5oz. I'm happy for her and her husband, but feel a bit waiting for mine to come out.

I suppose it's wrong of me to feel that, as he/she will come out when the time is right. I'm just so excited to meet him/her!

lisbapalea · 15/02/2010 11:20

How to make a teenage shop assistant squirm with embarrassment:

I went to Matalan at the weekend to buy some cheapo clothes for birthing in which involved an oversized bikini top to accommodate my massive whoopers, a sundress thing which I thought might cover my modesty, and some flip flops to dodge the dirty showers. I also bought a cheap bag to carry all my stuff in which in retrospect does look like a beach bag so the guy at the till clearly thought I was off on holiday. I think he regretted asking 'so where are you off to?' when I replied 'erm....a birthing pool?!'.

Made me laugh anyway...

annamama · 15/02/2010 11:34

Hahaha!

donttrythisathome · 15/02/2010 12:22

Fab news re Evitas and Emlou!

DH is still renovating our house so I'm definitely not ready to have the baby yet....hoping she stays in until the due date...

EmLouT So glad you're ok and that baby is doing well.

Hello everyone else.

scooby26 · 15/02/2010 13:39

Emlou - so pleased all going well for you. You must be sooo excited to meet the LO at the end of the week xx

swingsofglory · 15/02/2010 13:45

Evitas many congratulations

EmLouT - glad to hear everything is going well

TLC - I don't think it's wrong to feel when you hear about other people having their babies. I felt really emotional and quite when I heard about one of my friends having her baby last week. What's more ridiculous is that she was due to give birth and I'm not for another 4 weeks (apparently, although fingers crossed it's less).

hecklephone - I feel your pain with your DH. I love mine to pieces but he too was doing the 'can't really be bothered to do more of this nursery business right now' act on Saturday which was driving me nuts. I NEED TO FINISH THE NURSERY NOW!!! I know it's hormonal, I know it's nesting, but it is the way I feel and i can't stop it - it should be obvious, shouldn't it?

On the plus side, I had some vouchers for our local beauty place and went for a pregnancy massage over the weekend. It was heavenly. I'm sure loads of you have had them already - but if you haven't and you have the time / money I'd thoroughly recommend it. It even stopped my hips aching for a bit.

Hope everyone else is well. More babies arriving soon - how exciting!

DrSkidaddle · 15/02/2010 13:48

yaaay for EmLou that is great news, look forward to hearing even more good news come Thurs/Fri!

pixie - how many weeks are you now? So fantastic you have made it so far - isn't that quite unusual for twins? Are you 37 weeks yet?

IWCAS - I am like that too atm - every time there is a pile of laundry rhat hasn't been put away I get all stressed that we 'aren't ready' for the baby - think the baby will be OK with a few items of clothing lying around...

oh yes and my poor DH bears the brunt of it too heckle but as I see it I go through 9 months of pregnancy, the agony of childbirth, a year of breastfeeding - he will survive a little nagging for a few weeks

BPM - I wonder if my 'contractions' the other night were the same as you describe - although they were definitely in my belly and not my back. Both DC have a D&V bug atm so maybe I have a mild version of it which I mistook for contractions there was me thinking I knew it all with no. 3 - obviously not...

Yes I know someone who went to 41 but almost everyone else i know has popped by your stage. Would be lovely to get to 36/37 but I reckon after that you'll be desperate!
