Evening again- Is it really wrong to want to punch that idiotic husband. He would have been thrown out within 2mins and divorced on discharge!!! Is there something strange about a grown up son watching his mother give birth too - or is that just me??

Really felt for that young girl who had the CS. I think I'd have sent my DH up to take photos and be with the LO. No easy answer to that scenario. xx

Summer2008 · 09/02/2010 23:55

Please don't drop me from the list I have not posted recently due to my broken right arm it's hard to type. Was on here in January and still follow you all.

I am in hospital at the moment with high BP and protein hoping it's nothing and that I can go home tomorrow. For those of you with similar concerns I will let you know how I get on.

I will read through the other messages and do a longer post when I am home.

Summer

74slackbladder · 10/02/2010 08:15

oh no. i didnt make it onto the list...booo.
sorry ladies have not been posting so much lately as have not had so much time on my hands, this last week or so.

my due date is 26 march, it will be #2 and a surprise...

i am struggling to keep up with everything that's happening on the thread.

hope everyone is doing ok and not stuggling ok.

will try and keep up more...promise!

Shroomer · 10/02/2010 08:23

Great list Pixie - all formatted and you've even given the method of delivery. It's strange it's so front ended. I'm due bang in the middle of March and yet we don't have many due in the last half. I've printed the list out and stuck it on monitor - only way I'll remember

Channel 4 last night. Grrrrr. Steve. Grrrrr. Useless p* h*$$£$%%*7£&£&&&%%!! I was practically slapping the telly. I thought that it was a little weird for the 18 year old son to be there too.

Arcadie · 10/02/2010 09:15

I so can't wait to see this programme!

Oh and...
Smaaaaaaaaaac I just tried to update the list with 74slackbladder on it and when I copy and paste it loses all the formatting. I'm NOT going back through and re-typing all the *s ... what have I done wrong that it didn't "remember" the format?

OP posts:
Caitni · 10/02/2010 09:23

Hey great list! Doing my bit by adding in slackbladder. I notice Donttrythisathome has been taken off - anyone see her around recently? Donttry, are you out there? Come back and say hello (my fellow Corkonian ). And any other lurkers, come and say hello...tis never too late to jump back in or even just say hello for the first time

Summer hope things clear up for you and you're out of hospital soon

mumof2 sorry to hear you're still vomiting!

Siamese sounds like you had a good time in London , even though you're right about it being a struggle (giving up the tube is one of the benefits of maternity leave for me!). Although I've decided I really want to go around the British Museum properly, before baby arrives and changes my museuming forever. So I reckon I'll be back on the tube tomorrow!

Big waves to everyone else. Off to watch this Channel 4 doc this morning (hope it's on 4OD), am going to wait til DH is at work though. So no packing of labour bag for me last night, went out for dinner instead!

Arcadie at the formatting...I did add in all the * (yes, I have time on my hands )

Pingpong · 10/02/2010 09:28

oh I know arcadie pixie clearly has a lot more patience than me cos I nearly fainted when the formatting didn't copy and paste. I could only be bothered with * ing the names and then I knew you would be upset if the numbers weren't right so had to do that too but really it is quite time consuming. . . . but I felt bad that lurkers had been chopped.

Pingpong · 10/02/2010 09:30

x posts with Caitni - well done you !
I think we are going to zip up to 1000 posts in no time at this rate !

pureeandpearls · 10/02/2010 09:51

OMFG- you all have too much time on your hands.....not that those lists aren't a thing of sheer beauty.

I'd like to remind the number-phobic Arcadie to remind me what my announcement should say....Mumbot and I shall be in need of it berry soon.

Hello to old faces (which is to say, you were here a while ago, not that i think you are all craggy and past it and stuff )

And can I just ask what the hell you all think you are doing watching One Born Every Minute??? Now is the time for absolute denial, surely? After my fight witrh the Group Practice Head Midwife yesterday I am totally taking that path. And should I ever (pause whilst I LMAO at the total implausibility of this thought) have another, I shall be going private a la Land of the Free and having a consultant with me every step of the way. i cannot be doing with a system that does not work....

Thanks for all your supportive comments yesterday btw....they made me feel much better than the mw did, that;s for sure. She seemed to get stuck on the fact that I had PND last time (thought I ought to get doc to write me a prescription for anti-depressants in advance just to be sure) and on the fact that I'd rather an episiotomy than the fact that I can't actually walk to the bathroom by myself. Seriously....my current condition is surely more of a concern at this point than whether or not i will get PND again. And if I do, quite frankly, it will be easier to deal with than SPD. Gah. Will shut up, eat chocolate, and come back in a perkier mood.

EmLou wherever you are, I am thnking of you.

MummyElk · 10/02/2010 09:59

Morning all

Firstly congrats to the ListMakers, truly you are marvellous prefects, with your clever formatting (that made my brain hurt) and nice to remember who is supposed to be doing what where and when.
Poor summer with your arm, i hope hospital isn't too boring and uncomfortable? Did I miss out what happpened there? I can't imagine a broken arm is any fun at all Anyway don't reply if it's a complete pain to type, we'll try and keep you entertained in the meantime...
Last day of work was fine, very odd and not as momentous as my first one, somehow. i made a tonne of brownies which surprisingly turned out ok considering i couldn't times the ingredients by three to save my life!! (example: doing the maths of 275 x 3 in sainsbury's butter aisle came to 9175.... ) sad isn't it.

Anyway onto my (selfish) rant...advice please, it's along the same lines of drskids question about current LO. Elk is being lovely, really sweet and growing up so fast etc, her language is amazing at the moment and we are getting on VERY well . HW the last couple of nights she's gone from being a wonderful sleeper to, er, NOT. increasingly hard to put down at night - "Mummeeee Cuddlllee", wakes a lot, wants me (not daddeee who doesn't have a bump and doesn't get uncomfortable rocking her to sleep). The last couple of nights she's ended up in bed with us (massively unusual) because she's literally been inconsolable, huge great sobs, last night's got quite scary because i couldn't get through to her...ie, it's not just a tantrum, she's really upset, about something... Is this just a stage? Is it her cough waking her and upsetting her? Am I a bad mummy for having number 2?!! Is it the terrible twos (birthday on the 22/2)? Is this to be expected in our last month?!

Anyway sorry to hijack there, just not sure what to do. I'm happy to leave her crying for a couple of nights to work this one out, but it's very hard when she's so sad...

Will be lurking, hopefully post with something much more interesting in a bit. Have Sky+ed the C4 prog, so looking forward to that!!

74slackbladder · 10/02/2010 10:55

well done everyone with the lists. i feel so much better now i am on there. funny because i am one of the last due in this 'group' but the first due out of my nct group!
i am child-less today...must make the most of it, the last two days of entertaining a toddler have been exhausting. is anyone an expert in encouraging independent play in a nearly-3-yr-old ?
have just done the tour of ds's potential school. the whole pre=school vs existing nursery thing is giving me a headache. our school will only give you 5 mornings or afternoons . no mixing am & pm and nothing less than 5 days. meaning we would have to have a childminder to take him and collect him and the remainder of the day - very costly, compared to his usual 4 days in nursery.aaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrghhhhhh.
perhaps i should just give up work altogether ??? food for thought!

Walnut8 · 10/02/2010 11:01

Midway through mammoth internet shopping expeditions at Boots, mothercare, John Lewis etc etc. Think I am almost done?! Is it just my area, or am I right in thinking that real shops stock very little variety (or a minimum of their range) these days and if you want decent range and/or discounts, you have to shop online? I have been on a few very disappointing baby shopping expeditions along Oxford street and closer to home in Canary Wharf and more often than not come back empty handed.

I absolutely cannot watch any birthing shows (even if I did want to DH would ban them, he knows I wouldn't sleep if I did!). In total denial, sure my birthing experience will be just like on the natal hypnotherapy CD I've been listening to (ahem).

IWCAS so sorry to hear that your nausea has been on and off all the way through! I would have put on so much weight if that was me, I seem to crave stodgy sugary things when nausea rises (go figure).

rinders good on you and your assertiveness! I'm normally very passive and find being "assertive" far easier with a huge bump

summer hope you feel better soon. How did you break your arm?

mumofsevenplusfour · 10/02/2010 11:05

also watched one born every minute felt a bit like watching dr who as a child . knowing full well probably a bit like watching a film on painful tooth extractions in the dentist waiting room but just couldnt stop myself. especially upsetting when little one whisked up to icu.
although dh thinks it was worth watching as i now know what a wonderful caring birth patner he is !!! well compared to steve anyway he was a much use as a chocolte teapot wanted to slap him especially when he locked her in the loo . as regards having your 18 year old son as birth partner very weird imo no wonder he wanted to join the navy. offered dd1 17 next month and ds 15 1/2 the possibility of being there for the birth just to see there response (i honestly wouldnt feel comfortable with them there ) and they all but ran from the room begging for mercy !!!
MUMMYELK ds4 3 has also started to wake in the night sobbing and incosolable ended up in bed with us 2 nights ago think its probably just a cough and croup waking him because he also seems quite happy abot new baby . i think im more worried about him not being the baby anymore than he is (followed on from 2 mc and being told i couldnt have more dc) i know ive felt like this before each knew arrival obviously just a hormonal mummy thing and there will be plenty of love to go around
see mw tomorrow to see if lo has turned dont think so . have decided that if not and they do offer to try and turn her ill give it a go so that if i do end up with a csection ive done everything to avoid it
not that worried though if i do end up with a section as dd1 birth an elcs was not horrendous
also hopping emlout and her lo are fine worrying not to have heard anything hoping shesjust really busy
PACIFICDOGWOODalso like joe /joseph great name only thing if you already have a one starting with j initials could cause postal confusion
think were just about organised dh has promised to get nappies pram etc down from attic today and then we just have to find a name that feels right that could take a while

Well done with lists Smac & Pixie! I think it was good to take some people off who haven't posted in that long because it clogs up the list, they can always be added on if they want to.

I had to turn that program off because that guy was too annoying, grrr! DH said too: what a wanker.

MummyElk - my DD also had episodes of waking up in the middle of the night, possibly due to being ill on and off, but she has now stopped and sleeps right through again! We took her into our bed if she cried for more than a couple of minutes.

Just been to midwifes, baby is head down but "slightly back to back". Must do more crawling on all fours and leaning forward!

Arcadie · 10/02/2010 12:20

P&P and Mumbot

Birth announcement proforma:

I woke up after no labour at all to find a beautiful healthy sleeping feeding baby next to me. I am not tired or sore in my fuzzy areas. My older children are playing happily with some ethically farmed natural wooden toys, pausing only to offer help to me change a nappy or rub my feet. Baby doing well.

OP posts:
Sariska · 10/02/2010 12:26

Can I have one of those too, please, Arcadie? Have rather gone off the idea of this whole childbirth lark, especially since DH commented how he was glad it wasn't him who had to go through it.

I thought that this article from the BBC news website on "banking" sleep might interest some of you (if only in a yeah right kind of a way). Pre-DS I used to be rubbish at sleeping anywhere other than in bed at night - and not always very good at that. Now, though, I am a confirmed daytime napper and once on mat leave - next week (hooray!!!) - I plan to have a go at stockpiling sleep. Can't wait!

BulletProofMum · 10/02/2010 13:10

Pixie - you daughter will be fine. I boarded from when I was 9 (which is why I asked) and it was horrid. By the time I was in 6th form I was absolutely fine and enjoyed it.

So what happend int he one born every minute that you're all so shcoked by - I couldn't bring myself to watch it.

mumbot · 10/02/2010 13:19

Love it arcadie would imagine that it may be a few days before we can post updates - esp with me in hospital after the c-sec

Just taken delivery of the most comfy nursing bra from Mamas and Papas, so nice I'm thinking of getting another.

Oh.
My.
Word.

That was a very very very traumatic half hour watching "One born every minute".... Agree with all comments re: Steve the idiot husband ( although I felt him and wifey were acting up for the cameras a little) and re: Lisa the CSed lady - she was so lovely.
Watching Tracey going through the pushing stage had me in tears.
I
am
NOT
giving
birth
again.
And you can't make me.

(On a nicer note)
Just had a phone call from my little brother to say that he and his wife have had their 20 week scan and are having a little girl. My brother with a daughter. Aaaaaaaawwwww

OP posts:
swingsofglory · 10/02/2010 14:16

OMG - I watched One Born Every Minute too, there wasn't really anything else on was there? How big an idiot was Steve?!!?? I too had to switch off as I found him blood-boilingly irritating. I would have thrown him out within seconds of the first unsympathetic comment, never mind all the rubbish with locking her in the loo etc.

With my judgey pants firmly in place I seriously question his wife's judgement in a. marrying him b. having more than one child with him c. not throwing him out when he did the rubber glove thing. Mind you, I seriously question anyone's judgement who lets a film crew (even if it's only one person - they've got a camera ffs!) into the room while they are giving birth. Nutters, the lot of them - although you wouldn't have much of a programme without them.

Smac and Pixie thank you for the lists. I felt proud to still be on them! Hope your daughter enjoys her school Pixie - I'm sure she will. It can be exciting to be away from home once you're a teen (even if you still miss it) - I went to a boarding school from 6th form and it made me really appreciate my home and my parents, just cos we weren't under each others feet anymore.

P&P and mumbot - best of luck if I don't get to see you again as it were before D-day. Look forward to reading your chilled out birth announcements.

hi to everyone else - hope you're all doing well.
