Mawbroon you poor thing! You must be exhausted! It sounds like you are going through sheer hell, I moan about nothing happening but you must be seriously fed up! I hope things start moving for you soon...

I'm having a quiet romantic evening in with DP and the dogs. He's making curry, nice log fire, playing scrabble and hoping the full moon is going to break my waters later - Come on MOON I felt really bitchy and uncomfortable earlier, I think the telly was getting to me so we switched the damn thing off! Hooray!

Anyway, happy labour vibes to all that want them...

mawbroon · 01/03/2010 06:38

Update copied from march thread cos I don't have the energy to write it again!!!

No feb baby for me then....

Just a quick update before I try to catch 40 winks.

I went to bed last night and started regular contractions around 0030. They were every 3 mins or so until about 5am when they calmed right down. I called the hospital and they were quite happy for me to stay home, which was fine because going there just seems to stop everything.

I will go later on to find out if my 4.5hrs labouring has made any difference at all.

My mum is here staying now, so at least I had some female company through the night. I just left dh sleeping because he will probably go to work today now that it has all ground to a halt.

HappySurfWidow · 01/03/2010 10:55

Hi Mawbroon & all other overdue Feb-gals, I so share your feelings of frustration & impatience at these slow-cooking babies of ours!! Although, I'm not sure what is worse: to have contractions and all the signs without progress, or to have no signs & no nothing at all!!

42+1 today so seriously overdue and SO over this whole pregnancy malarky!! Fortunately, am booked in at the hospital at 8am tomorrow to be induced... Was so keen to try to have a drug-free birth, but now I'm so past caring that I'm going to take everything going just to get him out as quickly & safely as possible!

Congratulations to all those gals who managed to slip in some new arrivals before the end of the month! Well done! And to all of you who are overdue and a bit shellshocked to be heading into March with a bump still in tow: keep strong & upbeat! They'll be the early Spring babies which doesn't seem so bad, huh?

See you around soon on Feb/ March AN threads, I expect!

Baby, get ready; less than 24 hrs till eviction starts!!!! I'm off to bake the biggest, most chocolatey cake I can in celebration!

scoobyd00 · 01/03/2010 11:11

Mawbroon - I hope you're attempts haven't gone wasted and that when you get to hospital today you've advanced slightly.

I've just been for my 2nd sweep and no change. The midwife didn't even attempt it, as that way she can try again on friday. Induction is booked for 8 March when I'll be 42 weeks. Disapointingly the midwife says the baby has moved and that it's back is now more posterior, having been in a brilliant postion for the last month. So it's no sitting on the sofa and lots of upright forward and open positions for me!!!

How many of us are left on here?

ClimberChick · 01/03/2010 11:20

Still here, waiting and waiting......

Anyone else wondering if there really is a baby in there? It just feels like life is on hold until the LO arrives. At least we have some sun today and am feeling better so think I will drive down to the nature park with camera in hand.

On the plus side, i've just been offered a job in California (starting July) so have plenty to think about and plenty to start sorting out.

Just wished i wasn't the first of my friends to have a baby, as there's no-one to share my days with, boring.

Feel sorry for you Mawbroon think that would drive me crazy.

Baking a cake.....hmmmmmm good idea, what type though? Important decision like this needs more tea.

Does this mean we have to switch over to the March thread now?

I love the sun it just makes everything instantly better

AbsB · 01/03/2010 13:04

No February baby for me either!!! But what a BEAUTIFUL day Making a coconut banana cake and waiting for something to happen.... been for long walk with the dogs, doing some framing and art, nothing is going to stop me today! I agree about the sun making everything better!!!

Scooby my induction is also booked for 8th of March... going to try EVERYTHING to get this baby out first... more acupuncture today at 4pm! Hooray

AbsB · 01/03/2010 13:05

Climberchick congrats on your job offer in California...!

elebereth · 01/03/2010 23:52

Hello ladies. Our son Ilya Vladimir has arrived on 25/02/2010. He is 3.86kg, big boy. I had a home birth, but ended up with an obstructed labour after 13 hours, was rushed to the hospital and given epidural and needed forceps and episiotomy. Currently taking one day at a time, learning every day, not easy. Congratulations to all new parents and easy labours to expecting moms!

scoobyd00 · 02/03/2010 05:29

Congratulations Elebereth. happysurfwidow hope the induction goes well today.

Abs how was the acupuncture? Reflexology was very relaxing but doesn't appear to have done anything. I'm booked in again on friday.

mawbroon I hope you have your baby by now and are not struggling too much with the ankle.

climberchick - I'm the opposite, I'm one of the last to have children out of my friends and they're all desperate for me to have this baby! Are you going to take the job offer in california?

I'm awake far too early so wasting time on the internet until my DH gets up. Spent yesterday gardening and finaly getting round to painting the cot. No signs of my baby coming what-so-ever. Is it possible for a human to turn into an elephant?

InmaculadaConcepcion · 02/03/2010 09:00

Well done elebereth, congratulations!!

AbsB · 02/03/2010 10:36

Scooby - Acupuncture was really good but can hardly walk today as the baby is SO LOW down! I'm having a sweep in about an hour so hoping that might work...

My acupuncturist did say something interesting about induction which I will share with you... He said that some of the best labour experiences his pregnant ladies have reported have been after induction which is very efficient at bringing on contractions. And that often, after acupuncture, reflexology and all the other labour inducing techniques we try, the only thing that isn't happening are the contractions so when they are brought on, even through medical means, the cervix is already soft and dilated and the labour tends to be easier... this of course may be a myth, but it's definitely changed my attitude to being induced next week!!!

Congratulations Elebereth, those are very sweet names!

Anyway, will let you know if the sweep works...

AbsB · 02/03/2010 15:05

Back from hospital and the mw was brilliant and tried to attempt a sweep but couldn't because my cervix is too posterior and clamped shut! Oh the pain!

I cancelled the sweep on Thursday, too bloody painful, just need to try everything before Sunday then resign myself to a completely medicalised, managed labour - oh well!

Just had as much chili as any pg lady can stomach for lunch, thai foot massage booked tomorrow... and so on, and so on!

Hope everyone is having more success than I am with getting their babies out!

scoobyd00 · 03/03/2010 09:06

Abs - you sound like you're in exactly the same position as me. My cervix is so posterior the midwife can't even tell if I'm dilated or not! I've had 2 attempted sweeps so far with no success (they weren't even painful). Have got a final attempt booked for Friday.

Hope those who are having an induction this week are doing well.

ClimberChick · 03/03/2010 15:38

Hi everyone. Got my first sweep booked for tomorrow when I'll be 41+0. Thought I was going into labour last night. Had a show yesterday morning, and was having contractions every five mins, lasting at least 30secs, but then it all stopped about 4am, but at least I got some sleep. Am now back up to 30secs every 10mins, so fingers crossed.

I have accepted the job in California, so two big changes coming up. Luckily my salary will be sufficient that DH won't have to work. There's no way an equal job in Europe would allow that.

Went for carrot cake in the end, absolutely gorgeous.

Good luck girls

AbsB · 03/03/2010 17:39

Hey Scooby... just had an amazing thai foot massage with reflexology! Had a series of strong contractions this morning but they have died down to nothing again so I guess they were just practice contractions, nothing happening..

OOh Climberchick good labour vibes to you!!!!

Just made a lemon cheesecake. Yum!

bethylou · 03/03/2010 22:10

Hi ladies. Just dropping by to see how you are all doing. Please don't all disappear to the March thread and desert us as we would miss you! Perhaps you could frequent both? Hoping you all have your babies to cuddle soon

AbsB · 04/03/2010 11:39

Is anyone left here??? Still no baby! DP and I are wondering if there is a baby, or am I just really constipated!

InmaculadaConcepcion · 04/03/2010 11:48

I'm still lurking...

scoobyd00 · 04/03/2010 16:48

Abs my husband thinks I've just eaten too much and there's no baby! I've been for a beautiful 2hr dog walk and an afternoon of gardening and the baby still refuses to budge!

At least I've had a farily easy pregnancy so I'm not too uncomfortable or dabilitated. I just want to meet my baby and find out whether it's a girl or a boy!

climberchick I hope you've got your baby in your arms now!

AbsB · 04/03/2010 18:10

Ah scooby my DP also just says it's a big fart with a heartbeat, and actually said that to the neighbours!

I've also been for a two hour dog walk and enjoying our last few days together, really loving the nicer weather! I just want to meet this baby too and for all the calls and emails asking if there is any news to stop! I almost feel too ready, clothes washed, cot made, pram made up... can't even remember what's in my hospital bag I got it together so long ago!!!

For some weird reason, I am sleeping much better these days which is why it's such a shock when I wake up in the morning to nothing, I am expecting to be woken any night soon with my waters breaking (fingers crossed actually!)... and I hope your baby arrives too!

IC I know you are there and lurking, your Rosie is gorgeous! How is Madrid?

Off to eat cheesecake!

pyjamababe · 04/03/2010 18:57

Hello all!

Sorry dropped off the radar there... Baby George John was born on Thurs 25th Feb at 9.47am weighing 8lbs 15oz, 56cm long.

Went for a blood test the day before due to itchy hands and was admitted with obstetric cholestasis. They were about to induce me when the doctor realised I was 3cm dilated without even noticing I was in labour!! Anyway little George arrived 12 hours later with a bit of help to turn his shoulders at the last minute then out he popped!

One week in and we're doing ok except he's having trouble latching on for BF so am loving my medela swing every 3 hours...NOT! Still, I will keep going as long as I can but formula beckons I think.

I'll have a nosey at the BF threads but if any of my Feb friends are having BF issues and fancy some hand-holding let me know

Love to all for now, new mummies and patient mummies-to-be. It can't be long now and we'll all have popped

NatiFeb18 · 04/03/2010 22:04

Hi there, Vicente was born on his actual due date: 18th Feb. I had a csection at the end as after breaking waters and being induced as I was only at 3 cm dilated and the baby was getting distressed and not engaged. The csection was totally fine. Baby isn't latching on, so started with a medela pump, and now switched to a double one that they lent me! Never thought BF would be that complicated! :/
Anyway, evrthng's fine at the moment, and getting lots of help from my LOVELY husband! Can't complain, wish you all luck!

tinkerbug · 04/03/2010 22:16

Just a quick message to say John Christopher was born on 1st March at 4.49am weighing 8lbs 1oz. Had a v long labour (48 hours) so am still recovering!
V sore down there despite only having a 1st degree tear and also have sore nipples but was expecting all that! Had a bit of trouble starting off breastfeeding but my milk is coming in now so things a lot easier!
Good luck to all those still waiting - it was a sweep followed by some help from DH that got things started for me I think!

InmaculadaConcepcion · 05/03/2010 08:22

Wow, a sudden little glut!

Great news - congratulations to pyjamababe, NatiFeb and tinkerbug! Well done all!

Yes, BF problems - had them myself (latch problems also - and nipple confusion) - four weeks in, they were more or less solved - mainly through using a SNS (Supplemental Nursing System) or tube feeder and - yes - loads of expressing. Worth persevering though 'cos now she breastfeeds fine and all the equipment has been put away. Her latch isn't perfect, but I continually correct it and help her and it's good enough for her to get a good feed and she's not damaging me, so all's well.

Any probs like that, apart from the breastfeeding forum, come and discuss on the pn thread - more the merrier!

InmaculadaConcepcion · 05/03/2010 08:26

Hi Abs!

Madrid's good, thanks - warming up a little now, thankfully (although snow is apparently forecast for tomorrow, what's THAT all about?!!) and Rosie continues to be gorgeous >

Looking forward to having you full-time over on the pn!!

Come on ladies, PUSH!!
