and here we are...who'll be next?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
scoobyd00 · 22/02/2010 20:33

I'm still here. Due today with no signs what so ever. Sweep booked for saturday if no progress by then. I'm feeling pretty good so not in a hurry for baby to arrive. I'm enjoying the time off work with no commitments!

Congratulations to all the new arrivals.

mawbroon · 22/02/2010 20:45

I'm still here too. 39+2.

Not in any hurry really tbh although I am big and fairly uncomfortable.

I am managing to get quite a lot of sleep at night (except the nights that ds decides he needs to lie almost on top of me) and am not looking forward to broken nights again.

I feel like a first timer though!! I had an elective with ds at 39 +1, so this waiting to go into labour is new to me. I'll probably get one contraction and be shouting for a cs.

mawbroon · 23/02/2010 09:30

Still here.

I could be posting this every day for the next 18 days!!!

Nikki87 · 23/02/2010 10:29

congrats to all the new mummies, and hope to see all you still waiting over the post natal thread soon =]

TheOldestCat · 23/02/2010 10:54

Congratulations to all the new arrivals! I hope you're all enjoying your babies.

I'm still here and still pregnant (huge and uncomfy). Am 41 weeks today. Worried I'll miss out on my chance of a homebirth, but what can you do?

HappySurfWidow · 23/02/2010 14:10

Another extremely pregnant one lurking around here (41+2).

I thought things had geared up a notch last night when got some hard period-type pains in my belly and back combined with bump-tightenings (contractions??)... they even woke me up in the night! But today, I've had nothing so I've accepted I'm back to playing the waiting game again.

Just back from a sunny walk and about to tackle another pineapple!

BTW, Congrats to all the new mums! And thanks for the moral support regarding my bully-doctor!!

Only 5 more days left in Feb... us overdue-gals had better get a move on if we want to stay in this Feb-thread!!

tinkerbug · 23/02/2010 15:31

I'm still here too....am 40+1 today. Had been secretly hoping that baby might be one of the 5% who arrive on their due date but was not to be...

Am eating pineapple, drinking RLT and bouncing on the ball but nothing seems to be working....even asked DH if he fancied 'helping' but he said he couldn't get close enough to me because of the bump! He did then buy a takeaway curry for dinner though (which didn't work either!!)

Have an appointment at the hospital on Thurs if nothing has happened by then, am thinking of asking for a sweep to see if that can get things moving. Really don't want an induction if I can avoid it...

AbsB · 23/02/2010 19:04

I am still here... due on Thursday. Congrats to all the new mums, can't wait to join you on the pn thread soon...

Had acupuncture yesterday and she showed DP acupressure points to help through labour...

I have had a (TMI information alert) "lead" vagina for the last two days, it is so heavy down there, can hardly walk at all! I also feel very weird so thinking this could be it (soon maybe)... lots of twinges, pains, tightenings....

Hope those of you who are overdue have some good news soon

westlondongirl · 23/02/2010 19:19

Still here - due Saturday. Fingers crossed the little ones navigate their way out soon!

elebereth · 23/02/2010 19:26

I am glad to see you all guys are still holding on well enough I am 40+1 today. I had my membranes swept at my last mw app and it was really uncomfortable, didn't expect it to be quite so rough. It didn't do anything for me - no show, no waters breaking and definitely no contractions. I get million Braxton Hicks through day and night, some pains in the evenings and that is it! Really hoping for homebirth, my mw will allow mw to go 14 days over and then induction is imminent...

TheOldestCat · 23/02/2010 20:24

Same here, elebereth (on homebirth). Still lots of time for you so fingers crossed.

Anyone else getting lots of leg cramps? Am having them at the top of my thighs and waking up at night with them in my calves (ouch! worse than labour I'm sure and DD was back to back). Wondering if it's just the weight of the uterus pushing down on nerves etc. Lovely.

fiziwizzle · 23/02/2010 23:12

I'm not still here!! Lerryn Angela was born at 8.56 yesterday morning. I was 40+14.

I woke up at 2am with what I thought were gut cramps (after taking yet more castor oil on Sunday night after my sweep ). After a couple of hours they were coming rhythmically every 4-5 minutes and hurt A LOT so I woke up DP and called the MW. She arrived at 5am, pronounced me 5cm dilated, so DP started blowing up and filling the pool. I was in the pool by about 6.45, which provided momentary relief from the pain but TBH not as much as I'd hoped! I had a few sucks of gas and air but it didn't seem to do anything for me so I abandoned that and went it alone. I was having involuntary 'pushing' contractions from about 8am, which freaked me out a bit as the MWs didn't check that I was fully dilated. They were both very chilled, just told me to go with my body and if it wanted to push then it was probably time. It seemed to take a lot of pushing before I felt the head move down, but once I did it was a few more pushes and I felt the head crowning. Then the ring of fire and I couldn't believe how much that hurt! Then I had pushed out half her head and I was saying "there's her head" and the MWs, who were sitting on the couch, seemed quite surprised and came to have a look but left me to it. I pushed out the rest of her head, then her body slid out like a fish and I picked her out of the water and there she was, my beautiful and so-longed for baby girl. Ah, I'm welling up recalling it.

Unfortunately I then had a retained placenta, and we had to transfer to hospital, and I spent the morning in theatre which was pretty upsetting and traumatic. But we had the home birth we'd so wanted. And we were back home by 8pm last night.

Now sitting here with DP holding beautiful baby girl, just like we've always been a little family .

Sorry for long post, AN thread maybe not the right place for it! At least I haven't gone on about how much it HURT .

Congratulations to Pops, gingerkirsty and stressheaderic too!

fiziwizzle · 23/02/2010 23:14

Erm having re-read that I did in fact go on a bit about how much it hurt but not as much as I have in real life...

whoopee! congratulations fizi finally got there!

and congrats lovelymonster too?

am still here and 14 hours away from section if he doesn't arrive meantime? no sign of anything going on, so who knows!

good luck all!

AbsB · 24/02/2010 08:50

Hooray Fizi, well done! Can't believe you're even able to update lists on MN.... amazing! Sounds like you had a good birth, despite having to go to the hospital after. Really pleased for you!

Congrats lovelymonster, you must be so glad especially after a big move!

Well, still here... had to email several relatives today to say that I was no longer answering my phone so not to bother calling!!!

binzle · 24/02/2010 08:54

massive congrats to Fizi and lovelymonster.

I agree, cant believe you are able to update lists...well done and welcome to babies.

HappySurfWidow · 24/02/2010 10:07

Congratulations fizi... sounds like a really amazing, positive birth! Well done! Congrats also to lovelymonster - sounds like you're successfully dealing with a lot of life-changing events in a short space of time. Impressive!

Today is my French due date (41+3) and just back from getting checked out at the hospital. It seems the bump and I are nice and healthy, so we have the all-clear to carry on waiting for another 48hrs. Half of me is happy to give nature more time to take its course, but the other half of me is annoyed that things are being dragged out even longer!!! grrrrr

Last time I was 1cm dilated but the cervix wasn't favourable for a sweep... This time my cervix was so posterior that it couldn't even be reached! So it seems we are going backwards ... ho hum!

Due back at the hospital on Friday for round two of the eviction trials of "I'm a happysurfwidow-baby, get me out of here!"...

Happy waiting to all you other overdue gals!!

InmaculadaConcepcion · 24/02/2010 10:57

Great news, fizi! Good for you, going au naturel, wow!

You too, lovelymonster - a big move and a new baby - crikey!

If I was wearing a hat I would take it off to both of you... x

BabyGiraffes · 24/02/2010 11:17

Keep lurking on this thread despite LO being three weeks old today.... I miss my bump!! Very best of luck to all of you still waiting!

TheOldestCat · 24/02/2010 11:32

Congrats fizi and lovelymonster! Great news - welcome to Lerryn and Ethan (beautiful names).

Good luck the rest of us still waiting.

FluffyCoo · 24/02/2010 11:32

Hello ladies,

I'm still here too... 41+5! Sigh! Failing a miracle in the next 20 hours (this is one stubborn baby!), I will be checking into hospital tomorrow for induction - not quite the home pool birth that I wanted, but they won't let me hang on any longer unfortunately!

Hearty congrats to Fizi, lovelymonster and all the other new mummies since my last post - Fizi, you are one tough cookie - well done!!!
