We were worrying about you, Totally!

Glad it all worked out fine and welcome Faith - lovely news.

See you over on the post natal thread...

AbsB · 20/02/2010 18:28

Ah that's great totally, we were all wondering what had happened! Great news and welcome to the world Faith!

Had some SERIOUSLY long and painful contractions today and made the huge mistake of telling a friend and my very bossy aunt, who seem to have told the world - as soon as the words came out of my mouth I regretted it! AAAAAAAAGGGGGHHHH Everyone is calling me!!! And it's my birthday so I answer the phone and they all want to find out if I'm in labour - I'm going into hiding....HELP!

InmaculadaConcepcion · 20/02/2010 18:59

Happy Birthday, Abs!

fiziwizzle · 20/02/2010 21:26

Congratulations Totally on the birth of Faith, we were all concerned, so great to hear that all is well . Updated list coming up!

Happy birthday Abs, have you managed to celebrate at all? I was told by two separate people yesterday that wine might induce labour, I don't believe them (because NOTHING DOES) but it was very nice to have a glass of red with my steak, and then sod it another one.

I tried castor oil today - it gave me the most impressive runs - but no labour .

I havent read anything for a couple of days so big congrats to all new arrivals plus another announcment........
Amelie was born via emerg CS on Tuesday 16th weighing 5.6lbs. Absolutely beautiful, doesnt cry unless her vest is removed and Mum and dad are completely head over heels in love with her.
Only got out of hospital today so more details in a day or so when we are feeling a little more human.

binzle · 20/02/2010 23:39

forgot to say she arrived on the 10th anniversary of our first date...impeccable timing.

stoofadoof · 21/02/2010 07:03

BIG congratulations totally and binzle!

still nothing doing here... ho hum

how YOU doing fizi?? from what i gather the castor oil is s'posed to give you the runs which might stimulate the other bits and pieces into doing some evacuating of their own.... fingers crossed for you!

good thoughts for everyone else still waiting! am off to hang out on the postnatal thread for a bit, see if any of it comes flooding back!

InmaculadaConcepcion · 21/02/2010 08:41

Hey, binzle - well done you! Welcome to little Amelie. Join the ranks of the EmCS 5lbs something babies...!!

Good luck settling her in at home, see you on the pn thread....

FluffyCoo · 21/02/2010 09:32

Hello everyone,

Congratulations all new mummies, lovely news - good to hear that all are healthy and thriving. Little bit though Binzle seeing as you were due on the same day as me!!

Have just been lurking on and off for a bit as absolutely nothing to report on the baby front - 40 +9 today and not really so much as a twinge! Went for an epic walk yesterday and planning curry buffet gorge this evening... am saddle-sore from bouncing on my ball too! You're right Fizi NOTHING WORKS!!! Can't help but keep trying it all though Seeing MW tomorrow, so will beg for a sweep, prospect of induction towards the end of next week is giving me the fear!

Lots of annoying but well meaning texts and emails here too - plus apparently DH's colleagues are checking my wall on facebook every day to see if my activity levels have dropped and therefore may be in labour... I'm being completely stalked!!

Right, time for brekkie - raspberry leaf tea and pineapple pancakes here I come...

AbsB · 21/02/2010 12:11

Thanks for the birthday messages! Had a really fab fish curry yesterday, woke up with more period pains and back pain but still nothing happening...

Only 2 people left from our NCT class who haven't had their babies... what a week!

Congrats Binzle, Amelie is such a pretty name.

Just been on the pn thread to have a peek, wow ladies, it's all so exciting! Very detailed poo and pain descriptions... Ouch! Hope you all heal quickly and look forward to being on there myself soon!

esselle · 21/02/2010 12:18

Just checking in...

I am now 40+5 an utterly pissed off over being pregnant!

It has been freakin' hot all weekend - over 34C each day and I am crabby!

Saw my Obs on Friday and had a sweep which was unplesant to say the least. Nothing much happening as a result. Baby is very wriggly and I am starting to cop a few painful kicks now.

I just want this to be over...

fiziwizzle · 21/02/2010 12:45

Congratulations binzle, fabulous news. You are promoted to the top half of The List!

fiziwizzle · 21/02/2010 12:53

40+13 today and no signs of labour . My castor oil adventure didn't work, but wasn't nearly as horrific as I'd been lead to believe. Perhaps that's why it didn't work...? It worked for my mum when she was overdue with my brother but he was her 4th, I suppose that makes rather a difference.

Today I rang the hospital to cancel my induction - I'm definitely not desperate enough for a medical induction yet - and begged them to sweep me instead. The MW was rather taken aback but said she didn't see why not, so we're heading in for monitoring and sweep this afternoon. PLEASE let this set things off! [hope against hope emoticon] Then I could still have my home birth without having to argue with them...

On the natural induction front I've had two cups of cumin tea (again not as gross as reported - am I doing it wrong?!) and eaten all the leaves off the poor basil plant on the windowsill as I read this morning that basil and oregano stimulate the uterus. My DP thought I was mad .

I'm with you on the being stalked front Fluffy, I have lost count of the times that I've said/snapped that I won't keep it a secret when it happens...

Lots of labour vibes to everyone else in the same boat (although I'm afraid they, like everything else, simply don't work ).

mawbroon · 21/02/2010 13:59

Not a single twinge or anything here yet. But I am only 39+1, so could be ages yet. I am glad I haven't bothered with all the pineapple, curry, raspberry leaf tea etc. Must be quite disheartening when it makes no difference in the end! I am sending my baby "stay in for now" vibes.

I can't believe the difference that the exercises from the physio have made. On Thursday when I went to my appointment, it was like it was somebody else's foot on the end of my leg. I was willing it to move, and it just wouldn't!! I have done the exercises three times a day (so around 10 times now) and the movement is much improved. My scars feel very tight though - almost as if they are restricting the movement in the ankle. I have been brave enough to touch them, and there is no sensation whatsoever round about them and I think I might be able to feel the metal plate on the outside.

DS keeps saying "I can't wait to meet my brother". I am planning for me and the two ds's all to share a bed (I am currently sharing with ds seeing I can't easily get out of bed if he wakes in the night), but after last night, I'm not so sure. I was getting kicked by ds2 from the inside, and kicked by ds on the outside. He lies sideways and puts his legs on my shoulder. No matter how many times I shove him off, he's back within moments. This is not the time to shunt him out of bed though, he would probably feel dreadfully rejected. Meanwhile, dh gets to sleep in the lap of luxury all by himself in the other room.

threeplusone · 21/02/2010 18:16

Congratulations tro the new mummies..

Everyone has gone home now so we are back to juist us in the house and it is bliss.. lovely having the family over but now we can settle into our routine.

Re the rasberry leaf tea.. this is not for bringin on labour, but it is supposed to help with the second stage making it faster and easier.. also apparantley you are less likely to tear if you have been taking it.

Wishing you all good luck and positive labour vibes..
TBH I am missing feeling Oliver move inside me.. and slightly upset that I will never feel that again. BUt I am loving holding him and cuddling him and just watching him sleep in his moses basket.

Pops78 · 22/02/2010 08:34

Cannot read thread as rather out if in hosp but big congrats to those who have had babies. Our little girl came yesterday at 4.14pm by emergency ceasarian after only getting to 9.5cm, trying forceps and ventouse, we had to have cs. Will update more later x x

InmaculadaConcepcion · 22/02/2010 09:28

Congrats, Pops!
Hope it wasn't too traumatic for you...
Look forward to hearing more when you're up to it x

gingerkirsty · 22/02/2010 11:16

Hi ladies - I haven't posted on here since the 2nd trimester i don't think but have been lurking in the background.

Another birth announcement here!

Mathilda Mae was born at 9.15pm on Wednesday 17th February.

After labouring for 50 hours at home we transferred into hospital due to meconium in the waters. I laboured in the delivery suite for a few more hours but she wasn't coming down and was back to back.

The meconium was getting worse and her heart rate was going up so eventually we had a forceps delivery with epidural - not quite our planned natural home birth but the team in theatre were amazing and made what could have been a scary horrible experience into a very special one. She is SO beautiful.

Congratulations to everyone whose babies have already arrived, and good luck to those who haven't yet

InmaculadaConcepcion · 22/02/2010 12:48

50 hours...!
Blimey, well done you, gingerkirsty and welcome to Mathilde

stressheaderic · 22/02/2010 18:55

Well my false start turned into the real thing on Friday evening...thrashed through many hours of contractions at home and got to the hospital when I was 7cm, things looked like they were moving quickly then everything stopped again, had a IV put in to get them going and after a few bumpy bits along the way, our gorgeous daughter Bethany Alice finally arrived at 6pm on Saturday, she was 6lb 14oz and is an absolute dream, we are so in love with her. Feels like she's been here forever.

Good luck to all those still waiting, thinking of you all.

elebereth · 22/02/2010 18:56

It looks like this place is getting slowly deserted! I am still waiting, due date today, no signs of anything. Had membrane sweep yesterday, can't se any difference who is still here with me?

stoofadoof · 22/02/2010 20:21

me elebereth am now 41+2?

hosp have just rung? they've booked me for a section thurs pm, if he hasn't turned up by then? off to get bloods etc done now just in case?

congrats pops and gingerkirsty and stressheadric! well done!

hope you're doing ok fizi

good luck to everyone else still populating our feb 10 antenatal desert!!

InmaculadaConcepcion · 22/02/2010 20:28

Great stuff stresshead! Hello to little Bethany x

blonde36er · 22/02/2010 20:29
