Hi capricorn, congrats on the BFP and welcome to the graduates thread!
I didn't bother with progesterone cream. Unless you know there's a problem, you're probably best off not worrying too much about it. Just make sure to eat healthily, take your folic acid and take things nice and carefully for the next few weeks and you're giving LO the best possible chance.
In my first trimester I managed to avoid any colds, though I did pick up a 24 hour vomiting bug at one point. (Really fun with MS as well!) Everything was fine though and I'm now at 25 weeks with no issues.
However... All through the second trimester I've been getting one cold a month, which is getting rather irksome now. They're no worse than normal colds really, but the problem is not being able to take any of the regular medication! I never realised just how good Lemsip is.
Have you managed to pick up a cold? Vicks Vaporub is fine to use to try and get your nose cleared and some people have suggested room vapour products are ok too. I think Calpol does one?
I recently discovered a little nasal stick by Vicks too that I can shove in my handbag. It looks disturbingly like a plastic tampon , but you stick it up your nose (nice) and try to breathe normally, and it does seem to work to clear things for a bit.
Straight Paracetamol is fine to take if your head is pounding, you have a slight fever and/or the shivers. Throat sweets (but not Strepsils) are also fine to take. I like Soothers myself!
For other alternatives, I found that some hot Ribena with a spoonful of honey in it works to soothe my throat too. And heating up some Lemonade in the microwave is surprisingly good. Stings a little on a raw throat initially but soothes it in the long run, and all the bubbles go up the back of your nose and help clear that too!
If necessary, you can also resort to chilli of some sort (as in a nice hot curry!), as I find that clears my nose too. Helps that I've been craving spicy food.
Anyway, I'm not sure if any of that is any help (or even what you were asking!), but that's what I've discovered over the past few months and figured I'd share the knowledge.
