...now the "Crazy Baby Ladies"!

Had the idea to start this thread because, after getting my BFP on Monday, it suddenly dawned on me that I was going to lose contact with a lot of lovely people. I feel sad every time anyone leaves (though obviously happy for you that you've got your BFP) and thought this might be a nice idea, so that we can continue to keep in touch. After all, we've been through a lot together, haven't we?!

Also, I felt a bit out of my depth on the other threads, where it seemed like most of the members had already had children. There didn't seem to be a "first-timers" thread on here. (Unless I missed it!)

Fudge Hows the bathroom floor?

I had my first labour dream last night. I dreamt that my waters broke at work and that I had a super fast labour and ended up giving birth in the nurses room. How embarrasing, everyone was watching me. I remember being on the phone to DH sobbing that I couldn't keep the baby in long enough for him to get to my work to see it being born. I really hope this isn't a premonition (would be a unique birth story though).

I got into a little bit of a thing with one of the bosses at work, she was being so backwards with me. I could have happily swung for her. I didn't thankfully, instead I went and told my friend how much of a horror she was. I felt better after that and in the end everything worked out fine. I nearly burst into tears in front of her, so bad. Oh well!!

On the plus side DH made me pizza for tea AND did the washing up as well. He's so good to me. Sorry for the shameless gushing moment.

hermya lol at the dream - maybe you should think about going on maternity leave sooner rahter than later just in case

I was afraid to look in the pregnancy threads before I got a BFP in fear of jinxing myself. Now, I'm just afraid get too excited for the obvious reasons.

So yesterday turned out not to be a symptom free day for me after all. I was feeling sick again by lunchtime - I had to sit in the bedroom with the windows open while DH ate some ham downstairs! It was only two weeks ago that I cried because we had run out of ham...now the smell of it makes me feel sick. I did feel reassured by the return of my symptoms.....for about 30 seconds then I wished they were gone again

hermya as for dreams, I dreamed last night that I was having a girl, it was very vivid.

fudge I don't know the Ryde area very well I'm afraid, but I'm sure there will be a cafe with turkish toast somewhere, they seem to do it everywhere.

No news from me really, just bumbling along, all still going fine.

Thanks for the biscuit ladies! I'm still just letting it sink in and trying to figure out what the next step is. What did you all do after you got the BFP's?

aly after my BFP I sat there in disbelief for a couple of days, convinced if I did anything pg related that I would jinx it!! Then I persuaded DH to take me out for a nice meal to celebrate

As for proper practical stuff, if you're not already taking folic acid start asap and then make an appointment to see your doctor. I assume that as you're in the US your healthcare will work along the same lines as the private system I'm using in Oz. In which case you'll need to choose an ob and a hospital so start asking for recommendations if you know anyone who's had a baby recently. I chose the hospital I wanted to delover at and my doctor then recommended an ob who works there. I was advised to book in early as I wanted a female and they get booked up fast, otherwise I think I would have waited longer before seeing my doctor.

Oh, and you can cancel your appointment for your DH's sperm analysis

I basically cried, laughed and cried some more. Then grinned my head off.

Then the next day I made an appt with my Dr for a week or so later (for when I was about 5 weeks) and took it from there.....

I cried and then sat in shock for about half an hour clutching a cup of tea as my husband wittled on about a gas bill.

I then made an appointment with my Doctor and then made one with my midwife and then just like Ozzie took it from there.

I was in shock for at least 3 hours lol told my OH to get back from the pub then we went round and told his mum. That was over 31 weeks ago now lol.

Im in my single digit week countdown down and absoulty shitting myself lol!! I must admit though I have really bad stretch marks and swollen ankles ive tried everything. Coco butter, palmers and bio oil on the stretch marks they still appeared I think if your going to get them u just will !! Tiredness kicking in as well now.

Hooray Aly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congratulations! Yet again the threat of fertility testing produces a BFP right at the crucial moment! I'm so happy for you.
Well, after I got my BFP I basically shit myself for about three weeks. I was absolutely convinced that it would all go wrong and end in misery. But I'm still hanging on in there at 14+3 so my advice is to try and think positive and be as happy as you can! I ruined my first month of being pg by stressing out so much - doh!
As an aside, my friend had a baby boy yesterday and he is DELICIOUS! Its made me so excited to meet my own LO!

Oh fulham reading your post made me want to sing 'it's the final countdown'. I'm so glad you're going to be out of there soon and away from your mean boss. How long have you got left to go now then?

I was walking through Tescos this morning and I walked past the baby aile (as you do) and I was looking at all the stuff there and it suddenly occured to me. I'm going to be someones Mum, me a Mum. I'm going to be responsible for the feeding, clothing and trying to make sure they're not an asbo waiting to happen of a little person.

It was quite a sobering thought, I think I'm going to go raid the chocolate machine now.

fulham I bet your looking forward to having a relaxing time at home before baby arrives Ive got stretch marks on the top of my thighs/bum area, they have appeared over the past few days, only noticed them yesterday and was quite shocked!

hermya I keep getting those thoughts, in less than 4 months Im going to have a real live baby that depends on me for everything, sometimes I still cant believe its really happening.

Just a quickie to mark my place after i lost the thread. Life good but chaotic. Promise to return when I have a new house/finish work!

Sorry for the silence - have been lurking to keep up with you all, just feeling too ill/knackered to think of witty posts!

I'm afraid this is going to be an unashamedly me, me, me post too as this morning we had our first scan!! Was sooo fab, Mr Teeny was all curled up at first so I had to jiggle a bit to wake him up/move him around to get him in a better scanning position and then it was all go! He (or she!) was moving all over the place. We got a great pic of the face too (which I will post to my profile as soon as I figure out how to do it). It was so fab, I was in absolute floods. Very glad it is only one in there too! Had the nuchal test results and it's very low and heard the heartbeat which was just so amazing. DH and I then went and looked a cots etc in John Lewis and I bought the sweetest babygro's from Jojomaman. So nice to buy stuff now without feeling like I'm jinxing it!

I had my EDD adjusted too (which I am feeling v smug about as it is exactly what I predicted based on temps) so I've updated the list..

aly I've added you to the grads list too - hope that's ok! Many many congrats!

worrisome congrats on the scan, the photo is adorable! Its such a nice feeling to know all is well in there.

DP is getting the cot from his sister this Friday so will prob put it up at the weekend, I cant wait to get the spare room looking more like a nursery

I'm so jealous of everyone having their scans - I want mine now now now!!! Only have to wait 4 more weeks though and I'm sure by then I'll be worrying that it'll show up a problem.

Not much to report from me - my house is looking like a tip so might have to try and muster up the energy to clean it today
