...now the "Crazy Baby Ladies"!

Had the idea to start this thread because, after getting my BFP on Monday, it suddenly dawned on me that I was going to lose contact with a lot of lovely people. I feel sad every time anyone leaves (though obviously happy for you that you've got your BFP) and thought this might be a nice idea, so that we can continue to keep in touch. After all, we've been through a lot together, haven't we?!

Also, I felt a bit out of my depth on the other threads, where it seemed like most of the members had already had children. There didn't seem to be a "first-timers" thread on here. (Unless I missed it!)

So here goes!

Oh and White I'm glad you've got a proper bump now and that you're not feeling as ill as you were.

fudgecat · 25/03/2010 19:34

Evening folks

fulham I do feel better after having my hair done, it was rather overdue as I?m very lazy about it and leave it months between cuts

ozzie your DH sounds so sweet

claire its great to hear from you ? hopefully it won?t be too long until you get your BFP

bunny thanks for asking how I?m getting on without DP ? I?m ok, missing him lots but he will be back this time next week is $28 the normal price for a hotel breakfast over there? DP was a bit shocked and has been having breakfast in Maccy D?s since the 1st morning!

Chance glad you are feeling better this week

whiteroses fingers crossed you have had a sick free day today. Not too sure what is the best thing to do about the futures list, I know when I was still TTC and popped over here for a lurk it always made me smile to see that you guys were waiting for me

hermya glad to hear you have had a nice relaxing day off ? about the babies in a jar - no odd dreams for me yet but I?m sure that will change

I got my 12 week appointment through today for the 19th April ? they have started charging £5 for 2 scan pictures at my local hospital seems a bit steep for ?covering costs?

I have had quite a stressful day today as I went for an interview for an internal job, I was so nervous and during the interview but fingers crossed it went ok. I should hopefully find out tomorrow if I was successful or not.

Ozziegirly · 25/03/2010 21:54

Hey fudge glad you're getting on ok without your DH. $28 for a breakfast is quite a lot, but not unusual for a Sydney hotel.

Can I suggest that he tries something called "turkish toast" in one of the cafes? It is so flippin tasty all dripping with butter, he'll never want to go back to normal toast!

Which area of Sydney is he staying in? In most areas there are various cafes dotted around and they do a pretty good brekky in most of them.

I wish I could have some turkish toast now. mmmmmmmmmmmmm

Hermya I have had very vivid dreams - lots of rather pornographic ones, but also lots about places I have lived in the past, and about travelling!

I also get a pain if I need to have a wee and leave it too long, very uncomfortable.

Whiteroses fun that you have a bump now. I still feel more fat than bumpy, but our work experience student mentioned yesterday how "neat" my bump was and how "because you are really small and slim you're probably not showing much". I could have hugged her! Especially as it's not even really true - I am short, but I am a size 12! She is a giant girl though, height wise, she's nearly 6 ft I reckon so I probably do look like a weeny dwarf next to her at 5ft 4.

bunnygirl80 · 25/03/2010 22:37

roses yay you have a proper bump

fudge hope your interview was successful. It feels like you got your BFP months before me, and my 12 week appointment is only 10 days after yours (although I'll only be 11 weeks)

hermya life might be easier if we could just grow our babies in jars - it might save us from the sickness and tiredness.

I've tinkered with the futures list to make it more closely resemble the posters on the TTC thread. I've got removed the people who haven't posted in ages. I know Honeymoo got her BFP as she's posting on the due in November thread so I've moved her to the grads. Hope that's OK with everybody.

Spirael · 26/03/2010 09:08

Morning all! I'm really not very good at posting regularly, huh? I have been lurking around though and keeping an eye on the thread, so I'm not completely out of the loop.

Not much to report here, really... Things are just dragging along at present. I haven't seen anyone in the medical profession since my scan, my next MW appointment isn't for a couple of weeks yet. If I wasn't a first timer, I wouldn't be seeing the MW for another five weeks! So I guess I should be grateful with what I'm getting.

My bump is slowly expanding. I don't really notice it myself on a day to day basis, but occasionally someone'll comment about it or I'll suddenly realise that I can't fit through gaps that I took for granted before - such as sliding out of toilet cubicles at work without stepping all the way back and opening the door wide. I don't seem to have gained much weight aside from on the bump though, which is fine by me.

However, unlike some of the other pregnant women at work who seem to be unable to take their hands away from rubbing their bump, I don't really like touching mine too much. I wonder if that's normal? I don't know if maybe it's because of the anterior placenta, which means I never seem to feel any kicks in the main part of my bump, making it seem deceptively numb. Most kicks are low down or aimed towards my intestines - which is a slightly disturbing sensation!

I haven't been getting any exciting erotic dreams , but I have been getting increasingly vivid dreams about relatively mundane things. I keep waking up in the middle of the night, not sure whether or not I'm dreaming still! Several times my poor DH has had to reassure me that I'm awake now and whatever crazy stuff I was dreaming before (normally to do with shadows on the ceiling...) isn't real.

I've had a few people making rude comments at work about my bump or eating habits. Most of the time I find responding with a sarcastic smile: "Yes, how dare I be hungry and eat cake fruit. What an unreasonable thing to do!" tends to get a small laugh and then the subject changed quickly.

One 'friend' tried calling me "Fatty" though... That got the immediate response of me referring to her as "Scrawny McChickenLegs" in my reply. She apparently got the message and hasn't called me that again.

Haven't had anyone trying to touch the bump yet... I think my response to that will be to lean forwards and put my hands on their stomach... [insert evil smiley here]

DesperateHousewife21 · 26/03/2010 09:47

hermya I used to have a micra! We have a Seat Ibiza atm but the boot space is so bad as DP has a sub in there for his sound system
I went on kiddicare.com and had a browse on there for car seats and came across a nice Graco one, then saw its part of a travel system so decided it would be more logical to get that.

Hermya321 · 26/03/2010 12:07

Bunny I would love to be able to grow babies in jars, it would be very fasinating wouldn't it and we wouldn't have to buy maternity clothes either.

Spireal Good answer on the 'fatty' comment, people seem to think pregnancy is the time to start commenting on your weight.

Fudge You're right that is a bit steep, I need to find out how much they charge round my way as well come to think of it. Have you heard about the job interview yet?

Desperate Ah right, sounds like a good way to go. Do places let you see if you can fit stuff in your boot before you buy them? I could always just pop round to a friends house and try their buggy to see if that fits and then based on the mesurements of that get one that I know will be same size or smaller.

I've been looking at my tummy today and I really don't see any difference. I haven't been eating that well due to nausea and just feeling off food in general. So I'm guessing that any thickening of my waist has been covered by the weight loss of recent weeks.

WhiteRoses · 26/03/2010 18:27

Hi all,

Hermya - lol at the twins in the jars!

Oooh, Fudge - I HATE interviews! And I think internal ones are actually worse, cause you know the people interviewing you and therefore can lie big yourself up quite so much! Hope you get good news tomorrow though, and great that DP's back so soon (though it probably doesn't seem that soon yet!)

Ozzie - I am liking having the bump right now, but am also slightly concerned at the size I'm going to end up! I don't think it's a bad thing at all to be "neat"! Lol!

Aww, Bunny - that was nice of you to update that list! So you didn't all think I was barking mad then?! Lol!

Great news about Honeymoo. I hadn't realised.

Spireal - lol! I can understand why no one's dared touch your bump! I'm SOOO dreading that happening - think I need to take lessons from you in how to avoid it!

Funny you saying about spatial awareness too! My neighbour parked fairly close to me last night and this morning I had to walk round the back of my car, because, after trying I worked out I couldn't fit between our two wing mirrors! Lol!

Well, I got to three sick-free days! Then woke this morning at four o'clock specifically to throw up, and I've been doing the same all day long! So much for that! Still. Three days was really good... Maybe I'll get another three day stretch again soon. Something to look forward to! Imagine that, excited at the thought of feeling queasy all day, just as long as I'm not having to keep running to the loo! What has pregnancy done to my brain?!

WhiteRoses · 26/03/2010 18:28

Oh, and Hermya - don't worry - I'm sure you'll notice a fair difference soon!

fudgecat · 26/03/2010 20:49

Hi all

just a flying visit to let you know i got the job

will catch up properly tomorrow

x

bunnygirl80 · 26/03/2010 23:17

fudge well done on the job

roses 3 sick free days in a row is good. Sorry it seems to be making a comeback though. Has your doctor prescribed you any antiemetics? If not maybe you should ask as you've been in hospital more than once with your sickness so you're clearly not just a moaner.

spirael why is it that as soon as people are pg everyone else feels they have the right to comment on their weight? Good plan for fending off unwelcome bump touchers.

hermya you have plenty of time yet to grow an impressive bump

I started feeling really sick around lunchtime yesterday, and it doesn't seem to be easing off at all. I'm still managing to eat OK but I have to force myself to do it at mealtimes rather than feeling hungry and enjoying eating. We're going to a barbecue tonight, so I hope I start to feel a bit better by then otherwise it'll be no fun being surrounded by loads of people stuffing their faces with food.

DesperateHousewife21 · 27/03/2010 08:04

hermya im not sure if shops let you see if it fits, some may do i.e mothercare. Yeah trying out your friends is prob a good marker cos if you buy something similar you'll know its dimensions better.
Just wait til your 20 odd weeks, you'll feel massive lol. Im 24 weeks tomorrow

Hermya321 · 27/03/2010 10:24

Fudge Well done you!!! Thats fantastic news!! I'm so pleased for you.

Desperate Yeah I think I'll have to drag one of my friends buggies out. I was looking at the Quinny Buzz (I know it's mega early, but I'm a bit of a planner when it comes to this stuff) but since reading the reviews I'm not so keen. I might have to go push one round Mothercare for a while to make doubly sure.

DesperateHousewife21 · 27/03/2010 11:18

herm Im getting mine from babies r us, if our nearest store has one in stock ill go there and have a little try out of it. Ill just have to buy it online if they dont and hope for the best. Even if it doesnt fit in the boot it'll just have to go on the floor in the back of the car, ill sacrifice it as its such a nice travel system!

chancewouldbeafinething · 27/03/2010 11:54

spirael how weird it must feel kicking your intestines! Not much fun i am sure.
LOL at your idea for touchers...let us know if you do it

roses yeay for your bump and to not just feeling fat anymore. My tummy is looking like i ate a big xmas dinner at the moment...a few more weeks i guess. Hope the non sickness stretches more than 3 days!

hermya LOL at the cabbage patch kids. get used to the boob pain - some days it feels like there is glass in mine

fudge Fantastic news about the job. Its great to know when your scan will be...I find the waiting part hard though. When is DP back? btw we charge £23.50 for bfast in my hotel in london...hotels always charge loads because the buffet is usually huge.

ozzie i am drooling thinking of turkish bread, i used to have a BLT on turkish at my fav cafe in syd all the time....hmmmmm

bunny well done for the list tinkering Sorry you are not feeling well - Just make sure you eat even when you dont want to, i find if i force myself to eat it eventually passes. vegimite on toast usually works for me.

despo you are an understanding woman...i would be telling DP to get rid of things from boot as no loud music now baby's on board! Good luck with the shopping

I have had a huge week, didnt get home from work until 2am last night (started at 8am) so not feeling so hot right now. We are changing computer systems and the transfer was not balancing I think i will have another long night when we actually do the swap next week so i am planning a duvet weekend to prepare for it!

hope everyone has a good weekend...and Mr Webber wins the F1 tomorrow

DesperateHousewife21 · 27/03/2010 14:15

lol chance I know sometimes I dont even know how I do it, I must be saintly

Ive suddenly got sooo huge! Little baby is kicking me aww!

YorkshireTeaDrinker · 27/03/2010 21:11

Evening all,

Just a quick update from me to let you know I'm still here, still pregnant (I hope!) and still sick . Have moved on from nausea to actually chucking up now. Am really hoping I don't get it bad like Whiteroses as I am far to wussy and feeble to cope. Am now 8 weeks and have my booking appointment with the midwife next week. After that I think I'll feel officially pregnant and we might even be able to tell DH's parents.

Fudge that's great news about the job.

Whiteroses congratulations on your three sick free days. Fingers crossed for a longer run of well days to follow.

I love reading about everyone's baby shopping. It's way too early for us to begin to buy stuff, but I love a bargain (and we are on a budget) so I will be keeping an eye out for sale items once we've had our scan.

Hermya321 · 27/03/2010 21:50

Yorkshire Have you tried the seabands and ginger route yet? They do work for most people and even if they don't at least you can cross them off of the list. I'm a bit strange and those things didn't do it for me, so I'm just going with the flow so to speak. If you are feeling really bad, talk to the midwife they might be able to give you the hard stuff. Ebay is great for bargins by the way, I've been scouring it over the last few days and they've got some good stuff on there if you have a good old root around.

Don't forget the clocks go forward tonight ladies!!!

I hope everything is well with everyone at the mo? I'm getting a bit worried about Drewsgirl and am hoping there isn't a bad reason she's not been around of late.

bunnygirl80 · 27/03/2010 22:58

You guys are all so sensible checking that buggies/travel systems will fit in your cars. We bought our car from friends who decided to sell the car when their buggy wouldn't fit in the boot. The car is a landrover Freelander ffs - I am yet to see the buggy but it must be absolutely massive. They clearly have more money than sense though if they are able to buy a car to fit around their buggy

Yorkshire sorry to hear you've started being sick. Hopefully it means you've got a nice healthy baby on board though.

Chance the thought of vegemite on toast makes me want ot puke even when in a non pg state (that's a me being sick face, not a jealous one!) Sounds like you're very busy at work at the moment - hope the computer system works properly when it's finally switched on.

I seem to be having a symptom free day today - boobs are less sore and not feeling sick. I'm hoping this is just me having a good day, and not a bad sign. I'll just have to wait and see I suppose.

DesperateHousewife21 · 28/03/2010 11:05

chance you were wrong about the F1! whatever gave you that idea?? lol

fudgecat · 28/03/2010 11:20

Morning all

Ozzie DP has been staying in North Ryde but is now staying with one of the people from the company but im not sure where that is yet. I have told him about Turkish toast

bunny I know what you mean, there were a few of us who got our BFP?s all very close together. Next Thursday I will be 10 weeks, thats a quarter of the way through it seems very odd to think about it that way.... I don?t understand about your friends car, you can fit ANYTHING in the back of a freelander!!!

spirael lol at you not fitting through gaps

whiteroses how is the sickness today?

chance I hope all goes ok with the new computer system ? is your hotel like Hotel Babylon? At the moment im doing my best to avoid seeing any news as I want to watch the F1 repeat at lunchtime and don?t want to spoil it by finding out the result before.

yorkshire nice to hear from you but to hear your feeling sick. I don?t have my proper booking appointment until the 7th. I did meet the midwife a few weeks ago but that was just to put me on the system and to send off the scan booking forms.

hermya don?t talk about changing the clocks ? I was filling the bathroom sink this morning and remembered that the time on the boiler needed to be changed. After about 10 mins of random button jabbing I remembered I had left the bathroom tap running where has my brain gone? Good point about drewsgirl I hope she?s ok

I have had quite a good weekend so far, I went into town yesterday and got properly measured for a new bra and I have gone from 34c to 32dd the new bra is sooo much more comfy . Oh and I treated myself to lamb chops for my tea and they were very yummy

Right im off to see if the bathroom floor is drying out yet....

pixiestix · 28/03/2010 14:41

Hi all,
Glad that everyone is ok. I haven't been around much as this week has been a total puke-fest. I thought that once I hit week 12 I would be home and dry - instead from 13+0 I have been sick nearly every day, and feeling sick most of the time. Am trying all the usual remedies but nothing at all is helping, and I'm starting to panic about possibly having to go into hospital On a positive note though, I had my second 12 week scan on Thursday (at 13+6) and the baby is doing really well, and is really active, which is a big relief.

Hermya - When she was on the TTC thread DrewsGirl went AWOL for weeks and weeks after initally posting a lot, so I wouldn't worry too much. She doesn't seem to be a MN addict like we all are!

Trying - lovely to hear from you! Are you getting really excited now?

[waves] to everyone else. Sorry, I am too green to reply to everyone individually, but still enjoying hearing everyones news.

chancewouldbeafinething · 28/03/2010 18:22

fudge I think it is safe to say this now....
well boohoo i woke up at 6am to watch the F1 and he still didnt win...but Jensen did have a really good drive...that lewis is a spoilt little boy i think!
Also funny you should mention hotel babylon because apparently the book was actually about my hotel (a long time ago when the Barclay brothers owned it...now they own the Ritz) when i first moved here i had no idea what it meant when someone asked for an extra pillow...lots of men were disappointed
Oh how is the bathroom floor?

despo i know maybe if i dont watch he will do better...will see if i have will power next weekend.

bunny i know i feel the same about marmite...and I never really used to like vegimite i always ate promite in Oz (its sweeter) so it is weird for me too...but it has been working. As for the symptom free day - enjoy it while you can, tomorrow might be a different story.

yorkshire good luck for your appt hope you have a nice midwife. As for the MS, try anything you can. I found the sea bands are good so far i havent actually been sick after i have put them on. although you cant leave them on for too long, the plastic dots do dig in to your arms...but worth a try. Good luck

pixie Oh no I hope you manage to keep something down soon, can the doctor give you something? I am sure that either Hermya or roses actually got some medicine to take in the end. Glad to hear the scan went well, did you get a picture? I have mine this Thursday...its nerve racking waiting!

I just realised i didnt wake up at 6 it was 7am...must as DH to change the clocks forward.
I will probably be MIA this week, will try and read your posts but doubt will be posting. Fingers crossed we dont have to start entering 3000 bookings manually.
Hope everyone has a good week, and MS stays away for us all

fudgecat · 28/03/2010 19:48

News flash!!!!

i'll put the kettle on for her

DesperateHousewife21 · 28/03/2010 19:53
