...now the "Crazy Baby Ladies"!

Had the idea to start this thread because, after getting my BFP on Monday, it suddenly dawned on me that I was going to lose contact with a lot of lovely people. I feel sad every time anyone leaves (though obviously happy for you that you've got your BFP) and thought this might be a nice idea, so that we can continue to keep in touch. After all, we've been through a lot together, haven't we?!

Also, I felt a bit out of my depth on the other threads, where it seemed like most of the members had already had children. There didn't seem to be a "first-timers" thread on here. (Unless I missed it!)

So here goes!

Worrisome, thanks for adding me to the list and congrats on your scan. I'll feel so much better when I'm able to have one!

It seems that I've reacted pretty similarly to most of you. It's still sinking in and I've made about a million panty checks today. Following what most of you did, I also called my doctor today and arranged an appointment for tomorrow with the nurse. I figure I should get things rolling early just in case there's an emergency.

We haven't told any family yet, but we'll probably tell DH's family soon (they're very far away, so it'll be by skype). Since my mom has passed away, I'll probably wait awhile to tell the remainder of my family. I already told my two work friends who knew I was ttc. I had been gone for a week and they asked since they kind of know my timing. I couldn't help myself and they're sworn to secrecy. They would figure it out anyway as we workout and drink together a lot. I'm very nervous now that they know. I've got to keep my mouth closed!!

Fulham, I can't believe it has been so long since your BFP. It feels like you just got it last month!

Pixie you crack me up!

NovemberAli · 30/03/2010 10:42

Congratulations Aly! Welcome to the grads!

So glad your scan went well Worrisome - it's such a weight off your mind, isn't it? I was convinced the sonographer was going to say I had nothing in there and I wasn't pregnant!

Fulham - I bet you are sooo glad to be finishing and not have to suffer anymore abuse from your evil boss

I got to hear Little H's heartbeat last week, was worried MW wouldn't be able to get it as I have anterior placenta, but there it was pumping away nice and strong. Also got serum Down's results back yesterday - chance is 1:8300, I'll take those odds!

Pidgin · 30/03/2010 18:18

Hello, just a quick one to say hi from me as I haven't posted for a while, just catching up on everyone's news.

Welcome Aly and congratulations!

Not long to go now fulham!

Nice to hear about people's scans. I had one last week and was so nervous beforehand, but delighted to get a good view of the embryo and a nice strong heartbeat. DH was there too and it was lovely. Keep looking at the picture to remind me that it's real - although the more I look at the image, the more convinced I am it looks like a hamster ... hoping it looks less rodent-like at 12 weeks! (Am only 7+6 so far - dates keep going back.)

bunny hope the sickness is getting better and you're not doing housework as I write this! I had to clear up the spare room today as we have friends coming to stay, was really disgusted by the amount of dust in there (and I have low standards )!

Anyway hope everyone's well and happy Easter to all!

pixiestix · 30/03/2010 20:03

Pidgin - nice to "see" you! Glad the scan went ok. My dates got moved back on the six week scan I had as well, which really frustrated me, but they added them all back on plus more at the 12 week scan, so hopefully they will do that with you too. LOL at your hamster-baby!

Worrisome - good to hear that Mr Teeny is doing ok too. You know, if you have a little girl she is going to kill you when she finds out that Mr Teeny was her nickname!!

Bunny if you are cleaning the house you are a better woman than me. Its all I can do to get off the sofa right now!

Despo and Fulham - sorry to hear about the stretch marks I keep meaning to buy some Palmers cocoa butter but never getting around to it. I will probably still be meaning to at 40 weeks when my belly looks like it has been clawed by a tiger!

Fulham - only a few days to go now until you are FREEEEEEEEEEE!

Desp - how exciting that you are getting the cot! What colour are you getting? I really want a pale pine one.

Well, I am having quite a good day today, and it has been 14 hours since I was sick - whoop!! Pathetic, but it makes me happy!!

DesperateHousewife21 · 30/03/2010 20:28

pixie yeah our cot is pale pine it needs cleaning up as has been in her garage nearly 12 years now! It'll look good once its cleaned and put up though, looking forward to buying a little mobile to go over it

pidgin glad to hear your scan went ok last week, its so reassuring to see the heartbeat. It'll look lovely at 12 weeks, and better still at 20!

bunnygirl80 · 30/03/2010 23:41

Pidgin I'm sure your baby will look more like a baby and less like a hamster as the weeks go by. Although on the plus side, a hamster would be easier to look after than a real baby

Well I attempted the housework yesterday as DH was working from home and I didn't want to look lazy. It was an absolute disaster - I cleaned both bathrooms and the bedrooms then decided to have a shower before lunch. Unfortunately I left it too late to eat and ended up feeling really sick every time I tried to move. I ended up stranded upstairs as whenever I got off the bed I started gagging. I had to call DH to come upstairs and bring me some food and promptly burst into tears!!

On the bright side, he's said I shouldn't overwork myself by doing all the cleaning and he will help

aly323 · 31/03/2010 00:57

Pidgin also LOLing at your hamster baby and Bunny's very funny comment!

Bunny, Please start feeling better soon. Your ms sounds awful. I'm wondering how DH is going to react once I get really sick (I'm assuming I will). I've found that his "helping" rarely helps. Hope yours is better at that stuff!

OK, so the co-worker/friend that I told my news to yesterday, just informed me today that she conceived on the same day I did! Crazy thing is, I had a dream 3dpo that I was having an ultrasound and she was there. Now, we're both terrified that one of us will miscarry and have to watch the other go through the pregnancy. Our offices don't have doors and face each other. She didn't tell me her news yesterday because she was upset b/c I mentioned I was spotting and it worried her. Funny, she already has a kid, but seems even more paranoid than I am (which is not an easy thing to be).

Also, I went to the doctor today and all went well. I begged them to check my HCG, and they agreed since I had spotting. Today's was right where it should be since it just showed up on the HPT Sunday. Unfortunately, I have to go back Thursday to test again and see if everything is moving as it should be. Now I'm going to be a wreck for the next two days. However, based on the numbers, my feelings, and the HPT's I'm sneaking getting darker, I think I'm ok. I don't get my first scan until April 19th. Then I go on the 21st to talk to the genetic counselor. I'm of "advanced maternal age" at 36. What a lovely term! Is anyone else here 35+?

Ok, I'm off to rest. I just feel achy and tired pretty much all the time.

bunnygirl80 · 31/03/2010 02:18

aly I think I was just having a bad day yesterday - I haven't actually been sick yet, I just feel very nauseous if I try and move if I haven't eaten. I need to change my mindset to eating when I'm hungry, rather than at a time I consider to be a "mealtime"

How amazing that you and your friend conceived on the same day. Hopefully you'll both have successful pregnancies and you'll be able to race to the finish line to see who gets to meet their LO first.

Hermya321 · 31/03/2010 15:51

Not much news from me, DH is still job hunting and I get my scan a week today. I can't wait!!!

Aly The story about your friend is so cool, you'll be able to compare notes later on in the pregnancy.

Bunny I'm sorry you've been feeling so ill lately, I hope there has been no more doing housework for you. I've found the best way to deal with my sickness was to just go with the flow so to speak. I just eat what I fancy and hope for the best. The ginger and the bands didn't really work for me. I'm hoping that by the end of April I'll be free so to speak.

Ozzie Ooooo a girl, do you think it's a sign??? I had a dream last night where I was trying to put LO's car seat in the car and couldn't quite figure out how to do it. I eventually did with some help. I'm really disapointed by my dreams at the moment. They seem so hum drum.

Desperate It's a sobering thought isn't it. It makes me want to simultaneously hide in a corner and jump for joy.

November Oh wow, fantastic news about hearing your heartbeat!! I bet that was amazing.

Pidgin LOL at your hamster baby!!!

Bunny A hamster would be so much easier to look after than a baby wouldn't it, you just have to give it some food and a wheel and your pretty much sorted.

Pixie I really want a white cot for some reason. Who knows why.

Aly How you doing today?

YorkshireTeaDrinker · 31/03/2010 22:27

Worrisome I'm glad teh scan went ok. 12 weeks is such a milestone, it must feel great to have got there and finally have a picture.

Bunny impressive work on the house front. I am just letting our house stew in its own filth whilst I feel grotty. Although I am more focused on getting the decorating that still needs to be done sorted than actual cleaning.

Aly how lovely that your colleague is expecting as well. I really hope all goes well for you both and you can share your progress.

I am like Bunny and getting envious of all of you with scan pictures. I know everything is likely to be fine, I've certainly had no reason to suspect otherwise, but I'm sure I'll relax once I get to 12 weeks and see that I've actually got a developing baby inside me, rather than just some random sickness (or a hamster! ). Things should start to feel a little more real after tomorrow as I have my first appointment with the midwife.

bunnygirl80 · 31/03/2010 22:46

Yorkshire I'm getting so impatient about scans now that if I could buy an ultrasound machine on ebay and use it on myself I would

I've just been watching an interview with Danni Minogue on the news - she looks all curvy and glowy and lovely. When do I get to start looking like that - at the moment I look spotty and bloated and tired!! I'm just going to keep telling myslef that she only looks like that because she has a team of make up artists on call 24hrs a day

aly323 · 01/04/2010 02:48

What a day. Spotting cleared up yesterday, but came back slightly this morning with the tiniest spot of red. It freaked me out, so I spent the morning in bed. Good thing is that it never got heavy, no pain, and stopped pretty quickly. I took another test this morning and it was darker than yesterday's. Hopefully tomorrow's HCG will put my mind at ease.

Also, I failed a glucose test. I'm not too worried about that because I've never had a problem, have a low BMI and wasn't fasting (and ate a lot of fruit) right before. I have to fast Sat and take a three-hour test. 2 out of 3 women who take the second test pass just fine.

Bunny, I found a place that does special 3-d ultrasound with videos, printed pictures, etc for a decent price. I have a feeling they'll be getting a good chunk of cash from us! Hope the nausea settles soon.

Hermya, I also want a white cot, but think that will get vetoed by DH. I'm really hoping someone will just give us one. I'm going to start begging for baby gear as soon as we're safe.

So, I now know someone who "didn't know" she was pregnant. One of the secretaries at my job is very overweight and has some health problems. I don't know all the details, but- She went to the eyedoctor, and somehow he figured out something was wrong. They sent her to the hospital where they discovered she had extremely high blood pressure and was pregnant. They did an emergency c-section. She was 8 months along. Crazy.

Pidgin · 01/04/2010 08:42

Bunny - that's very true about the hamster being easier to look after. I think rodent-care is about the level I am capable of - caring for a totally defenceless human being might be pushing it a bit. The other day I was reflecting that I think I might want a puppy more than a baby at the moment ... but given the possibilities of maternity leave, am kind of hoping I could manage both! (might leave the hamster for the time being)

That's incredible about your colleague not knowing she was pg, Aly - what a shock! I'm sorry to hear about your bleeding, good to hear it cleared up quickly. I've had quite a bit of spotting - what looked like implantation bleeding and then brown spotting (with one brief spot of pink/red) from weeks 5 to 7. I had a scan at 7+1 and it was fine, the doctor said that bleeding from the placenta is very common and usually not a cause for concern. Like you, I took it very easy for a couple of days after the red spotting. But by the end of the seventh week it had cleared up. I know it's really worrying but bleeding in early pregnancy is very common and not usually for a bad reason. Hope you feel better soon.

Hermya321 · 01/04/2010 10:34

We've got another BFP people, Mumnerves just had hers this morning!!

Wow I'm so excited, what a great start to the day!

I get to go buy new make up tomorrow, they're bringing out a new foundation and I'm hoping that it'll help with the dot to dot puzzle that has developed on my face of late. I keep half expecting some key to attack me with a felt tip pen and cry out 'Mum look it's a pengin!'

I had a dream that Prince William came to visit my house last night. We sat for ages and he showed me his childhood pictures (he'd brought a photo album with him for some reason) and chatted over a cup of tea. Then as I was washing the cups up in the kitchen, some numpty was stood outside my back gate with a gun. It was quite exciting we had to be helicoptered out by the SAS to their uber secret base.

Well it beats dreaming about being at work!

Aly I've heard of stories like that as well. If it helps any, I like Pidgin had some bleeding in the early days, I went for a scan and everything was fine. If you do get concerned about it though, it is always worth a visit to the Docs. I'm glad it's cleared up though. I would like to do a 3d scan as well, I think it would be quite cool and theres one round where we are that seems to be quite reasonable. I wouldn't blame you if you did do, can we see the pictures?? Also are you diabetic? I was just wondering about the glucose test thing.

Yorkshire It is a worrying few weeks isn't it. I can't wait until the twelve week mark. DH said that once we get past the first scan we can get one or two things as well. Not that this hasn't stopped me from dragging him into EVERY baby shop I see.

Bunny I do actually want a hamster or a goldfish, but given my track record with very small living things he says it would be cruel to give them that glimmer of hope. I must say in my defence that my last goldfish was obviously depressed and I didn't contribute to his demise at all. The only reason most celebs look all glowy when they're preggers is because they have said make up artists. I expect if we had access to such things, we'd look like her. Oooo and don't forget about strategic lighting either and soft focus lenses. They hide a multitude of sins.

WhiteRoses · 01/04/2010 10:52

Hi all,

I'm starting this post on Wednesday night but have a feeling it'll take a while and I'll need to finish it off on Thursday morning!

Fudge - HUGE congratulations on the job!

Bunny - aww, I'm sorry you're feeling sick.

When in hospital the second time, I allowed them to inject me twice with Stemetil, and it worked wonders for the nausea. I was then able to swallow a Stemetil tablet and it was great too. I was then discharged and given a packet of the tabets to take home with me. On getting home, I read the enclosed leaflet and it said (in bold) that people with my medical condition should not take this drug. I immediately went to see my GP and she told me that, while the drug would (thankfully) never have posed a risk to my baby, it could have caused me (worst case scenario) to suffer paralysis of my limbs for about a week. Otherwise, maybe some cramps/pins and needles for a bit. I was lucky that nothing happened. Guidelines stated that the tablets should apparently only have been given to me as a last resort, and the first dose should have been very small, the second increased slightly, and so on, until I was up at full strength and they were sure that was okay. Anyway, the GP did say that as I hadn't reacted, I would be fine to keep taking them. Somehow, I just didn't trust them though. I don't like taking anything at the best of times and that REALLY put me off! So the short answer there would have been that yes, I was given tablets, but I chose not to take them. Bet you're sorry you asked now!

Chance - you need to take it easy and don't work too much! I hope you enjoy your duvet weekend anyway.

Thursday now, going to try and finish off all my catching up!

Yorkshire - I'm so sorry to hear how sick you are too. It's rotten, isn't it? You think ttc is the hard part - if only! It's so unfair! After wanting it SO badly, I think you should be able to sit back and enjoy it now that it's finally happened! Mother Nature really is cruel... x

Aww Bunny - I'm exactly the same as you - on a good day, I just worry things are wrong! Sooo silly, isn't it?! But somehow impossible to help yourself!

Fudge - lol at your baby brain! Yesterday, I went to work without my handbag. Meant I had to come home to collect it before going shopping after work. Came home, got distracted, and left without my bag again. Came back (luckily I'd only gone as far as the end of the road) and ran upstairs, with my car keys in my hand, to get the bag. Back downstairs again, and couldn't rememeber where my keys were. Thought I must have put them down while upstairs. So I ran back up, and when I reached the top, I caught sight of my reflection in the hall mirror - there were my keys, still in my hand! Now THAT'S bad! (Oh, and when I got to the shops, I left my phone in the car! )

Pixie - I'm so sorry to hear how bad you're feeling. I was the same - it almost got worse after twelve weeks. However (hopefully this'll give you hope and I won't jinx myself!), 14+6, 15 and 15+1 were my three sick-free days. I was then really bad on the Friday - as bad as I've ever been, to the point that I even ironed some pj's in case I'd have to go into hospital again. Then I had Saturday-Tuesday (four days this time!) without being sick. Yesterday I was a TINY bit sick, first thing, but almost nothing, and today, so far so good. 16+1 now. So here's hoping, but not being sick - I'd forgotten how good that felt! (Should probably add it's not all good, I'm still really very queasy, but I can live with that! )

Chance - glad to hear the Seabands worked for you too, and Hermya, I'm sorry they didn't for you. They were great for me Yorkshire. I'm convinced they're the reason I've not been back in hospital since I got them. As Chance says, the plastic bits do dig in, but I throw up every time I take them off (still - I had them off for an hour yesterday morning and that's when I was sick). So I've been wearing them 24/7 and have a little circular bruise on each wrist! But the way I see it, that's nothing compared to being sick all the time.

Hermya - I'm sorry to hear your boss was being a prat, but glad it worked out okay in the end. And no harm gushing! I don't know WHAT I'd do without my DH either! Aren't we all very lucky?! Lovely OHs, healthy little, very-much-wanted babies on the way.

Aly - yay! I'm glad you lied! See, I love this thread because it's full of so many familiar faces. Would've been horrible losing touch! So how are things with you now?! Are you believing it yet? I'm 16+1 and still can't quite get my head around the fact that it's really happening! Lol! Loved how you told your DH, by the way!

How did others tell their OHs? I drove to my DH's work, phoned him at lunchtime and asked him to go out to his car to check if I'd left my purse in it the night before. When I saw him, I beeped my horn, called him over, and showed him my test! I think he was a bit stunned, both to see me, and to hear the news!

Aly - the day I got my BFP, DH was working late. When he got home, we went straight out, got a bag of chips for dinner, and drove down to my family's house to tell them the news. By the time we got home, it was nearly midnight! The following day, I met my manager at work first thing, and told her (lots of H&S implications where I work). Then spent the morning risk assessing EVERYTHING. Met up again after work with another two managers, to see could they add anything to the risk assessments. By the time I got home, I was shattered. DH and I had dinner and were in bed at about 9pm! All very glamorous! During that time, I also went to the toilet countless times! Although my bladder wasn't affected by the pregnancy yet, every little twinge I felt, I was convinced AF had started! Oh, the other thing I did was I booked an appointment with my GP for as soon as possible. Had that three days after BFP. (Is that the kind of thing you were meaning?)

Oh, and I agree with Bunny - get that appointment cancelled!

Fulham - yay! Nearly there at last! Is it tomorrow you finish then?!

Ugh, I'm dreading the stretch marks. I remember seeing my friend's bump and being shocked at it. For some reason, when you think of a pregnant woman, you just think of a perfect, round bump, nice clear skin... Guess that's what you see in the media, isn't it? It's no more realistic than the Size 0 models, though. Anyway. Who cares? Stretch marks fade. And anything's worth putting up with, just to have your very own little baby in your arms. Can't believe you're so close either! Can understand you worrying, but just focus on the end result - holding little Lily in your arms. So exciting!

Curly - glad all's well just now.

Worrisome - your scan sounds amazing! That's what I had to do too - jiggle! Amazing to think you can directly affect your baby like that, isn't it?! After seeing the baby wake up, every time I move suddenly now, I picture the LO wriggling about! It's just wonderful!

That's one point, actually. DH and I were in two minds about whether or not to get the nuchal scan. We both agreed that we wouldn't abort, and wouldn't risk anything by having an amnio, so DH argued that there was no point in knowing. My view was that if our baby had Down's, I'd like a chance to come to terms with that before the baby was born, so that when it was born, I'd be focussing on all the same things - hair colour, size, fingers and toes, rather than on the fact that it was disabled. Anyway, DH agreed to the scan and I was SO glad he did. It meant a MUCH longer scan, because it took ages to get the measurements. If we hadn't wanted it done, I'd just have been in and out. So for that reason alone, I'd recommend it!

Bunny - when's your scan? My 20wk one's in 4wks too. 27th April.

November - I was the same, convinced that they'd find nothing in there when I went for my scan! Great news about the Down's test.

Pidgin - when I had my first scan (between 6 and 7 weeks), I thought I was having twin hamsters! Thankfully one was just the yolk sac! The twelve week scan is amazing - so different. Suddenly that little heart you saw flickering away has a very recognisable baby shape all around it! You'll see the nose, the chin, the arms, fingers... Like Hermya, I want a scan NOW!!! Lol! Wish I had Tom Cruise's money and I'd buy my own scanner (my mind's blank - what's the proper word for a "scanner"?! )

Pixie - I agree that celebrating 14hrs without being sick is pathetic... But I'm just as pathetic! Lol! Hurrah! Hope it lasts!

Oh, and like your scan, my dates went back at 6-7wks, and forward plus some at 12wks! Apparently the measurements at 6-7wks arent very reliable because the baby's really curled up. So, Pidgin, you never know!

Bunny - aww, your DH sounds lovely! I've done that with the stranding myself too though! Worst was when I'd been stuck on the sofa for about three hours. DH came home and I was in floods of tears (first time he's ever seen me properly cry!). I had no makeup on and looked a state. I was crying cause I needed to pee, but if I did, I knew I'd be sick! He went in and made me a sandwich (least smelly option) and as soon as he put it down, I had to run to throw up. In doing so, I kicked over the drink he'd brought me, which delayed me and made me miss the toilet (TMI)! I think I really scared him with my pathetic-ness, as he had to go out again, but when he came back, he had a lovely big bunch of white roses for me! Pregnancy is SO unglamorous!

Oh, and is it just me who thinks this is disgusting... Had a midwife appointment yesterday and brought a urine sample. I was given the container back to re-use!

Aly - how wonderful that your friend's pregnant at the same time! And great news about your HCG results. Can't believe 36 is "advanced maternal age"!

Hermya - I want a white cot too!

Aly - that's nuts about that woman! I keep kinda hoping something like that happens to Zippys - that all the negative tests are wrong and that one day, she'll just post and say that she's had a baby and has no more sickness! Rather daft, I know, but wouldn't it be lovely?! Sickness gone, and the baby she wants, all in one go! (I know, I'm mad! )

I'm glad to hear you're getting plenty of rest and the spotting's clearing up.

Pidgin - I think I could just about manage another puppy, but a baby AND a puppy - I'm not that brave!

Yay for Mumnerves! Oh, here's hoping for another run like January's! I've added Mumnerves to the list.

Lol! That's what you get for saying your dreams were getting boring, Hermya!

...Yay! I'm caught up again now for the time being! (Haven't previewed this post - it'll probably take up half the thread! {blush])

Ugh, I really didn't realise it was THAT long! Well done if you manage to get through it!

Just skimmed through it... Most of it's a load of rubbish! And I never updated you on my news. Oops!

I'll keep this bit short. I'm fine. Doing pretty well with the sickness. Hope it continues. Saw midwife yesterday and heard heartbeat (first time apart from at scans). Heartbeat was found right away but baby was wriggling about so much that she lost it twice! Anyway, aside from that, and in spite of not being sick lately, I still have ketones in my urine (bad things you get when you're dehydrated). She reckoned it was just because I was SO sick. No harm to baby, apparently I'll feel better if I don't have them, so I've to drink loads of Lucozade, try and get rid of them, and go back in about a week with a fresh urine sample. If I still have them then, they'll stick me on a drip for a day or two, and then that'll be that. But fingers crossed the Lucozade'll do the trick. I also have protein in my urine, which suggests an infection. She'll repeat that test next week too. Coudln't believe it when she asked me had I any symptoms, i.e. was I peeing more! Duh! Anyway, I feel well enough and baby's fine, so I'm not really bothered either way.

White Your post was lovely!! I'm so that you got to hear the heartbeat. I can't wait for that stage of things. I was quite happy at my dream last night tbh, it was quite nice to have an exciting dream for once!! I hope the lucozade does the trick for you though and you don't have to be attached to a drip again.

WhiteRoses · 01/04/2010 12:05

Hi Hermya! Congratulations for getting through it! Don't worry, you'll hear the heartbeat soon. And it's REALLY not long now till your scan. (6 days?) I wish I could go back in time and have mine again! It's amazing!

Oh, forgot my other bit of news... Down's Syndrome risk is "low". So that's good too.

Ooooh! Got another thingI forgot to tell you! Was really worried about breastfeeding for a number of reasons... I have a medical condition that can get in the way, I've had no pain in my boobs, aside from slightly tender nipples for a day or two, but only when I poked at them, also not really changed size/shape/colour... BUT! Yesterday (16wks and bang on target!) I discovered I am producing colostrum! (Read that I should be, gave nipples a squeeze and bingo!) Anyway - happy, happy! (Also rather pathetic but I get the feeling you lot probably won't judge me too harshly! )

roses your mammoth post makes me think you must be feeling a bit more like your old self, rather than sicky all the time

And well done on the colostrum - although I hadn't realised that it started being produced as early as 16 weeks.

My scan's not until 29th April - it would have been 2 weeks earlier but DH couldn't come so I had to move it. I think the fact that I could have been having the scan much sooner than I am is just making me even more of everyone else who is getting one!

WhiteRoses · 01/04/2010 13:03

Bunny - I know!

So we're two days apart with our scans! I remember you scheduling late so DH could be there. He'd better appreciate you! Lol! It's funny... The 2ww was hard enough! I think that was breaking us in gently though! Now we have nothing but waiting!

Yeh, I didn't know about the colostrum either - hence only squeezing for the first time yesterday! Lol! (Kinda glad I didn't know! I probably WOULD have had sore nipples if I had! )

Hoorah for Mumnerves - how fantastic to start April with a BFP.

Whiteroses glad to see you back to mamouth posting - that's got to be a sign that you are feeling somewhat better. I hope the lucozade does the trick and that the sickness stops for good soon. You really seem to have had it tough, so its high time your body gave you a break and you start to bloom!

Aly glad to hear the spotting has eased up. Hope the tests go well today.

I've just come back from my first appointment with the midwife, which was great. I had most of the appointment with the student midwife, which I don't mind at all, as students tend to be keen and enthusiastic. It was very nice to meet a clinician who thought my news was exciting! I have come away laden with literature, my maternity notes (A4 paper - all tests results done on carbon paper and stuck in the back. As someone who works for the NHS trying to implement an electronic patient record, I can't help feeling slightly disheartened by this system!) and lots of sample bottles. I have to go back next week to have blood tests taken and give a urine sample. I am now in the system and officially pregnant!

Hermya321 · 01/04/2010 16:04

Aly Why has your DH vetoed a white cot??

Yorkshire Yay!!! You're officially pregnant! I'm glad your appointment went well, how far along are you now?

White I know, next Wednesday will be here before I know it.

chancewouldbeafinething · 01/04/2010 19:46

Wooohooo ALY Congratulations! SO glad to have you here, and good to hear that the biking, running too much theory wasnt true and didnt stop you guys
I did my test in the morning, didnt expect it to be positive at all. We were in shock for a while but then had to get back to reality and go to work....dont know how i did any work that day.
How fantastic that you and your friend will be going through all of this together. That is fantastic, esp as she has been through it before.

fulham Yeay you must be happy now you have finished sorry to hear about the stretch marks...it will be worth it xx

hermya you will be a great mum
did you get your new make up? tell me the brand because i am all blotchy at the moment! Now i have a dream story for you - last night i was with my mum, sister, and her son and some other kids. My nephew was naked and running around like a hippy, all the kids were playing with a beehive, and he was poking it with a stick. I said to my sister do you think you should put some clothes on him, or stop him and she said no he is fine. She told me i was a control freak. My mum told her too, then my sister said your not the boss of me, so then i slapped her and walked out. After that she moved out (we were living together in the dream) ...how weird is that? naked kid and beehives??

Bunny I agree why cant I look like Danni? when does the glow start to appear?

yorkshire Good to hear the MW went well. I found there was just so much information, i did not remember most of it. Lucky they give you all those books to read. when you go for the blood test make sure you take something to eat - i was a bit light headed after all the blood they took.

curly dont worry we will be here, good luck with the new house

worrisome fantastic news about the scan, picture is so cute, just amazing feeling watching the screen isnt it? oooh i think i might buy some things this week end, i had to drag DH out of boots last weekend, he wanted to buy something...anything really, was asking if i needed some breast pads yet? too funny

November great news on your results & HB, you must be sleeping easier now

pidgin dont worry, i thought i was having a jelly bean at my first scan glad it all looks good.

pixie how the non sick period makes it past 14 hours soon

despo yeay your getting your cot that is exciting

white They gave me back my specimen jar too...but they also asked me to bring it in my own clean container?! I just asked for one when i got there.
Hope you are able to get hydrated soon, take care of yourself maybe you could get some sport drinks in case you dont really want to drink lucozade for months.
Well done on your productive boobs - at least that is one symptom free area for you, mine feel like there is glass in there most days!

Fantastic news mumsnerves I hope to see her here soon

So i know this was been a long one i will give you a quick update on me - computer system at work is done no more late nights for me.
I had my scan today, DH was with me, all is well LO was sleeping at first so i had to go and have a drink - coke woke him up and he was then moving so much we didnt get any good pictures. He did give us a wave though (dont know why we are calling LO 'him' but we are) I asked about the nub theory - they said it is a load of BS. Will put pics up as soon as i can.
Hope everyone has a fantastic Easter weekend
