Hey Ladies we have reached the big 1000 so I thought another thread needed to be started

stac I'm glad everything went well, I pretty nervous about my scan but then I suppose most people are. I think I'm more nervous about going without DH which is silly but hey ho!

I'm living in my sea-sickness bands at the minute. Yesterday I only retched twice which is progress. I'm hoping that as I'm getting closer to 14wks MS will ease off a bit. DH says his cuddleometer is low but I just feel too nauseous to snuggle...

gracie I hope you get well looked after and that all this sickness goes soon. It will get better at some point!

TishTosh21 · 07/01/2010 09:14

The baby looks all stretched out and relaxed in your pic stac lol. Maybe it'll be a very laid back newborn.

iggypiggy · 07/01/2010 09:35

caspar at my scan appt I had the scan, had to give urine sample and had a vampireish amount of blood taken my appt was with a consultant. Not sure if that helps!

stac fab pic!

vik I am the same as you - can't eat a big meal - only manage a little bit - but am hungry alot of the time! My clothes are tighter but I've appreantly lost 3 punds - so can only assume that is either loss of muscle or not drinking! I certainly don't look any thinner...

CurlyCasper · 07/01/2010 09:43

thanks iggy. There's no way that can take two hours, surely? well, I get the full afternoon off anyway...

CurlyCasper · 07/01/2010 09:44

thanks iggy. There's no way that can take two hours, surely? well, I get the full afternoon off anyway!

(stac it's at 2pm)

I'm hungry and the only thing within reach is chocolate cake...

CurlyCasper · 07/01/2010 09:45

How did that happen?

Spirael · 07/01/2010 09:50

Morning all. I hope everyone is doing ok today. Anyone else struggling with the snow? Took me an hour and a half to travel three miles to work today, though most of that was spent standing at the bus stop wondering where the 'every ten minutes' bus was. I'm starting to find that standing around for long periods makes my lower back ache... That is presumably normal?

It's surprising to hear some people aren't booked in yet! I was booked in back in November and I've seen the MW three times so far, though not seen a GP at all. Is that unusual? To be honest I think the second appointment was because they wanted me to bring in a FMU sample and the third because they failed to draw blood at the second. So, that might be why I've had so many.

Still getting bugged by MS here. Though no where near as bad as gracie! I hope things get better for you soon.

Mine isn't anywhere near as bad as it was, so I'm maintaining hope that it will ease off soon. I seem to be able to control it now by eating copious amounts of fruit, rather than unhealthy snacks, which is an improvement.

Also has the added advantage that eating ridiculous amounts of fruit and veg per day is keeping everything moving, if you get my meaning.

6 days until my next scan-! ... Not that I'm counting down or anything, of course.

iggypiggy · 07/01/2010 09:51

I am obsessed with spelling your name caspar and not casper My appt was meant to take 1 hr - but was about 35 mins in the end...

CurlyCasper · 07/01/2010 09:56

35 mins? Cool - guess I get to go shopping this avo then (or maybe home for a cuppa, blanket and film...)

There's no way I'd be at work if it took that long spirael so well done you! about your apps, but not the MS. Hope you feel better soon.

iggy I'm a friendly ghost m'dear, so I don't take offence at that spelling. (had worse variations anyway )

Hiya! Blimey, what a busy week it's been, am so glad to read of scans going well - it's so lovely to see their little hands up by their faces. Ours was turning all over the place - Beth Tweddle better watch out...

Tishtosh - lovely photo! You can really make out facial features. Cute.

Stac so glad everything turned out to be ok.

Gracie I hope your sickness goes soon!

Hope the snow's not blocking you in to much.

Albrecht · 07/01/2010 15:40

Lovely to hear everyone's scan news.

Also glad to hear others are having issues with normal clothes! Anyone been tempted by baby clothes in the sale while maternity clothes shopping? I feel its too early but I love a cute bargain!

Also pregnancy brain anyone? I just forgot how my buildings floor / staircase numbering works and have been wandering round like a loon for ages. Fair enough I've just got back from a month of sick leave but I've worked here since August - I'd got the hang of it in the first week!

berberis · 07/01/2010 17:31

thesecondcoming I love your taste in names, and funnily enough we were thinking of Clara, as DP had a great-great grandmother with that name. It's lovely. Would love to hear more of your experience with the name - presume it was only a few in your family said they didn't like it? Do most people love it? I love little girls in pretty dresses, and I have a vision of that...

Don't know what am having by the way - but we have come nowhere near an agreement on a boy's name!

CurlyCasper · 07/01/2010 17:32

Right - I have answers!

Turns out I was pulled into the AN Clinic because of my Rheumatoid Arthritis. The main reason for being there was to see the doctor, but as I hadn't had the booking appointment yet, they did the scan and bloods etc. Great to see my wriggly little baby, but they have decided I need to stay under consultant care and give birth at the consultant led unit in another town. Not sure I feel about that really. I know the general consensus is that people want the least medical births possible, and I had hoped for a water birth . Got to go to consultant clinic again in April and 20-week scan is on March 5. We will have to book a separate, £50 scan at 23 weeks to get the gender.

Bonus was, I was only there for an hour.

Will add the pic to my profile.

Hope you are all ok.

kittykat77 · 07/01/2010 18:28

Evening everyone.

Good to see everyone is getting their scans - we have ours on monday, so that's quite exciting. Although DH has had to take a whole days holiday as his work won't give him the time off . At least it all feels real when you can actually see something!

Well have finally told work, so feeling a little less stressed about doing that one - and also I can stop panicing about what work clothes I am wearing and whether people will guess due to my expanding bump!

THey were actually ok - although did have one person doing the whole 'your not having another baby are you' routine, which is starting to get a little annoying now to say the least. I ONLY HAVE 2 KIDS FFS!!! Not 10! SOrry moan over for the day.

We have a fair bit of snow here in Lincolnshire, but still managed to drive to work ok, if a little more slowly than usual.

Hi ladies,

Can anyone tell me how to create/look at profiles? I'm feeling a bit ICT illiterate!

Wonderstuff · 07/01/2010 20:46

I finally have a booking in appointment! At my local hospital on Saturday which is cool. Glad to be in the system and be able to have nucal fold scan. Managed to get dd to mil today who kindly offered to give me a break - with the snow she hasn't seen dd since christmas so was desperate to see her I think

I like all your names thesecondcoming we have decided not to share names with anyone irl this time, at least someone was rude about every name choice we had last time around (all normal nice names), I really don't get why people ask you, you share your favorite name picked out for you babe to be and they say 'really?' We did have friends who had a baby a while back who told everyone they were going to call their babe 'riceandpeas' - they didn't obviously!

stac14 · 07/01/2010 21:43

Hey ladies, thanks for the lovely comments about the scan, think it looks really long but I hope your right tish and it is laid back lol

casper fab news about scan hun, cant wait to see pic. I am under cons care as I have an underactive thyroid so they want to keep an eye on me. Few things attached to it but hey at least we are well looked after.

Phoned for my 20 week scan and its 1st March at the more reasonable time of 11.30 so not so much hanging about yay

wonderstuff I totally agree with you about people slagging off your names, sil did it to me at the xmas dinner table, she said the name sounded like an infection, at the time his dad was videoing us (yeah i know lol) and I have been caught on camera giving her a dirty look but she deserved it. Needless to say we arent using that name lol

jbro Click on my mumsnet at the top fo the screen and it should assist you to set up a profile

tsc how did you get on with shopping and play group? I bought chinese instead of shopping but have a great excuse as we are getting a new kitchen and bathroom fitted lol

albercht I have seen loads of lovely baby stuff but have steered clear want to wait till my 20 week scan so I can buy stuff for boy or girl

kittykat thats ridiculous, as you say its not as though your having 10 kids and even if you were its you whos lookng after them so who gives a toss, tell them to f* off lol

Hey gracie hows the sickness, have you went to your sisters? keep in touch

Hi to everyone else, sorry if I have missed you hope your all well xxxx

Hi Everyone,
Its all going on this week what with scans and booking appointements and everything, why does it have to snow! Im dead pleased with my scan photos and have been showing them off at work today. It just confirms the reality doesnt it. I gave my mom permission to tell the rest of the extended family and my god she didnt waste any time, everyone knows now! Funny and sweet, she is obviously very excited, bless.
Curly interesting thats how ur appointement turned out. I am also under the consultant for underactive thyroid and just had an appointement through this morning, it says its a booking appointement, which i have already had?? I recon its a generic letter, but it is a bit confusing i must admit.
I have a girls name in mind but no boys name at the moment, im the same as you wonderstuff Im not going to share im just going to sit on it for a while i think.
Hope everyones happy.
xxx

Aww tsc thats a shame hun hope everything works out well for her. Do you have the option to take then nuchal fold? My mil insists that its all the scanning that cause probs with babies, she says in her day you got seen at 3 month then told they would see you at the birth, my dp was born 3 months prem and is fighting fit so who knows think its a personal choice, i'm not a praying person but will certainly be thinking of her

viksam my mw said I had to be under cons care as apparantly the community mw dont like to look after you with an underactive thyroid also they upped my thyroxine as they like you on the higher end of the scale, might be worth questioning as thyroid is important for baby's brain development and a some other stuff xxx

Had a bad day with the nausea today - forgot to take my seabands to work and didn't have much breakfast - had a loooong and boring meeting during which I felt terrible.

I like it that all my immediate colleagues know now, they are all clucking over me and instructing me to be careful on the ice!

viksam · 07/01/2010 22:35

Stac i had a blood test from the docs about two weeks ago to test my thyroid level which came back as fine. Im only on 50mg, i hope they dont have to up my dose. I got in touch with the docs after what you had said a while ago about it and they were like 'oh yeah maybe we had better do a blood test and maybe the consultant will want to see you' im thinking should it have taken me to point this out! oh well, glad i did.
emster nausea must be awful, i suffer really bad from travel sickness and know how debilitating that can be so i dread to think how hard it is to battle through it at work. I havent(touch wood) had ms just extreme fatigue.
It is nice to be clucked over though, I went to see the nurse that did the IUI after my scan on wednesday, she and 5 of the other nurses made a real fuss and made me feel so special, really sweet.
tsc thats bad for ur friend, she must be devestated, did they say what was wrong? Hard for you to know what to do as well i imagine. Not good.
Night night everyone, im stumbling off to my freezing cold bedroom!
xx

stac14 · 07/01/2010 22:41

viksam my mw said that gp has a different range than them when your preggers they like to ensure your kept within a tighter range, dont want to worry you, its just what I was told maybe query it with your mw just to be on the safe side, night night xxx

emster I felt the exact same today hun, we had a busy morning but by the afternoon I was wiped out, heres to it going away. Seabands are great but dont fix it all eh? lol xx
