Hey ladies quick question, is it normal to be cramping? I know I have had it on and off from the start but I am worrying like mad lol I know things are probably stretching, also think sneezing is making it worse but just concerned.
I am probably worrying more as my niece started bleeding last night (still has a positive test and is getting scanned tomorrow) so that may have increased my anxiety levels

gib I am with you about piling on the pounds. I ended up huge with ds but as I am overweight already I dont relish the thought of getting huge

spiral new look, dorothy perkins and next are all doing online sales in maternity wear also ASOS is doing some gorgeous stuff. I havent bought any yet as I want to wait till after scan.

tsc I'm also excited about celebrity big bro, I actually love reality tv lol

Hello everyone!

I'm 11 weeks today, still a wee bit annoyed at having been put a week back at my scan as I was expecting to be 12 weeks today and for it to be a milestone! I've been 11 weeks once already!

Stac I've had all sorts of odd aches and pains. I think it's normal unless it gets very sharp.

I bought my first pairs of maternity trousers on Thursday in the sales - a pair of work trousers from New Look for £8 and a pair of jeans from Dorothy Perkins for £7. Bargain! People say the over the bump ones are best but they don't work on me yet as I have no bump so they flap around, so I have under the bump ones for now. Plus some bump bands.

kk I think I'll use Snunkie for the customising, have heard good things and one of my friends is a pram addict (she recommended the bugaboo to me too) and she has loads of different covers for her various prams. Re the car seat, with our Graco we had the Car Base which you fit then you can click the seat in and out really easily, so there are cheaper options. Dd is currently in a maxi cosi tobi and I love it. My mate has a newer one for his son and it swivels too! I'd definitely recommend looking now, I left it too late with dd and ended up buying the first thing coz I couldn't be arsed anymore Have a list of features you want, a budget (I included the £190 from the govt in mine) and just play with everything, espesh seeing how it goes up and down kerb-type heights! I was amazed at how heavy some of them are even with nothing in.

spirael so glad you're feeling better. Randomly my chest is on an ache at the mo. I've bought some bigger boulder holders in preparation in the La Senza sale - it's all half price! Oh I liked the Britax B Smart too, it's just I spotted the cameleon on ebay and you know what it's like when you get all single minded about things For maternity clothes; try TopShop, Next, Dorothy Perkins, H&M, River Island, American Apparel, in Debenhams there's Red Herring...er that's all that springs to mind at the mo...

welcome to the thread buckler! would you like to go on our roll call?

curly hiya! happy birthday! and hope the scan goes well

apuski oh names are such a 'mare. Every name reminds either one of us of an ex/the snotty kid at school/a bully etc and it's a pain but then dh poo-poos anything he hasn't heard of. Bah. This may require a pregnant tantrum! I'll look at my list and pick your brains when we're further along

I'm too scared to clear my wardrobe at the mo! There will be nothing left and dh will complain about the amount of stuff in the loft! I also prefer under bump but they do tend to fall down when you get a big bump, not attractive! I'm worrying about what to wear when the weather gets hot. I'm too mature of years to walk about with my belly hanging out that's for sure. I mean tops will be easy, maternity vest tops/tees etc but what about on the bottom? A new silly thing to worry about

I am a little more reassured, i just have to keep thinking that millions of people have kids every day so the chances of something going wrong are relatively small. Still anxious though. Just wish it was tomorrow instead as im going to be on my own with DP at work so i know the day will go really slow.

stac14 · 03/01/2010 19:53

tish i feel this whole weekend has been slow lol. I'm just trying to make sure i rationalise stuff so i dont go mad

emster before my first scan i thought i was nine weeks then they told me i was only seven so i know exactly how you feel, i'm just hoping they dont do it again. At least this time you know for defo your twelve weeks next week

winter i was assuming i would be wearing leggings, linen trousers, combats so that i'm comfy but suppose that depends on the weather. They have said that as we have had a bad winter we will have a really warm summer, for once i hope not lol

Think i need to go online and start researching baby stuff. So much has changed

Is anyone else planning on telling colleagues tomorrow? I'm quite nervous! I can't decide whether they will have all guessed or not. They blimming well should have done with all the comments about me not drinking before Christmas, but no one else really has kids (and them that do have grown up kids) so it isn't really on their radar. I'm only planning to tell the people I work very closely with/the ones I'm good friends with for the time being.

Hello ladies, havent been on for ages as the lead up to christmas with two children already was pretty manic!!

Ive got my combined test scan tommorrow, finally, which is going to make everything seem a little more real.Wondering if they will change my dates, they did several times with the other two, but am jotting down when my lmp was, when i ovulated etc so if they try to change the dates by more than a week I shall protest!

Ive been puking every morning for the past 8 weeks and as yet there has been no let up, really hoping that I wont have it all the way through to the end like ds1.
Feel a prat at work though as Im a private carer and just cant cope with personal care at all, i just start urging which is not ideal. Thankfully my clients and colleages know I was fine with it before so are not taking it personally!

Got a few items in the sales, just some muslins and scatch mitts and some vests for the bargain price of £5.
Although I already have 2 children, we got rid of most things except the cot, a sling and car seat so its nice buying new items!

Chulita- I may be intrested in the pool, Im considering a HB which would definitely have to be in water as the pain relief from water last time was immense, I loved it. Only thing worrying me at the moment is the mess and the job of filling/empting pool, oh and I have to speak to the consultant because of my BMI, although having done a year or my midwifery degree, I WILL have a homebirth if I feel that its safe to do so!!
but keep me in mind..!

Thesecondcoming- Good luck with all that, youve certainly got a challenge on your hands! cant beleive by july I may have 1 in nappies, 1 in pullups at night and 1 in drynites AHHH! although Id rather spend the extra cash than have to wash the bedding every day! ds1 although nrly 6 is showing no signs whatsoever of becoming dry so i do despair a little, I think ds2 at 4 is likely to be dry before the other though which would be good!

Anyway, mammoth post so Id better stop. hopefully Ill be on mn a bit more regulary now! take care! x

Lol, not much to do then tsc ?

Emster I'm 14 weeks and have a tummy so will be telling people. Only to those who ask though, you know, as the news starts to trickle out.

stac maxi cosi is a brand. Predominantly car seats but other things too

Chulita ds was 1 beginning of last month. Have you any idea what you're going to do about a double buggy? Better start reading the reviews I suppose!

tsc crikey good luck with that to-do list! My dd is a dummy addict at bedtime and I can't see me getting it off her before this baby arrives. Was really hoping that the whole "dummies are for babies" thing might sink in if there is an actual baby in the house with a dummy lol. Plus she's going to school this September so drastic measures might need to be employed at some point! At the moment though it gives her comfort and there's some big changes happening this year so I'm inclined to leave it til Christmas if she doesn't get rid by herself by then.

It's interesting about your quick labours...dd was 2 and a half hours all in, and I managed to slow it down by having a panic when pushing (I suddenly realised that there was an actual baby, doh!) and I really don't want a HB as had retained placenta and a lot of blood loss (sorry to those having #1!) so I've been told to just call for an ambulance if it's during rush hour. Scaring the life out of me!

emster being a sahm has its advantages With dd I didn't really tell everyone, obviously my superiors and my friends but just let everyone else guess

stac feel free to peruse maxi cosi !

glastogoddess oo you've made me remember something! In the midst of pnd I got rid of all dd's sleepsuits/vests etc and I'm gutted now as they were all M&S! I had better have a look in the sales for some unisex bits. Thanks!

WinterMadness yes, I don't want it to be a big announcement scenario but I want at least the people I share an office with to know about it, plus maybe those who are my friends on Facebook before I announce it there. Plus my old boss will be pleased for me! Oh I don't know. I haven't yet quite worked out how to drop it into conversation.

tsc that is a tall order, when does the new regime start? best of luck hun

emster all of our close family and friends know but waiting till after the scan on wednesday to make it public knowledge to everyone else. Think I will post the pic online

hope I have a quick labour with this one with ds I was induced and was in pain for 3 days before I actually started pushing so hope 2nd labours are quicker

Well just watched celebrity big brother which I am quite surprised about the amount of well known people in it this time, did you watch tsc?

Last time I just showed my scan picture to my friends / colleagues and smiled. Millions of 'oh my God's and 'congratulations' (and often 'I knew it's) then follow, then thry start telling you what gender it is. Everyone's an expert you know. Everyone else then found out through word of mouth

Hey Stac - I had what I thought was quite bad cramping at about 13 weeks but I now think it was stretching pains because a couple of days after that I swear my bump got bigger! . Are you going for your scan today? Let us know how it goes! xx

GlastonburyGoddess - I've got a pump to empty it with so you just stick that in and put the hose out the nearest window, it's pretty quick. It comes with a plastic sheet and we bought a cheap but huge tarp from B&Q because we rent and I was a bit paranoid. It was fine though, no soggy carpets

winter - I'm lusting after a double buggy but tbh DD's never liked pushchairs as much as I have and she lives in the ergo carrier. I reckon we'll have one of them in the carrier and one in a pushchair if it's just me, or with DH, he can take DD and I'll take the LO in the baby bjorn. I've got a lovely lightweight buggy for town but DD is not a fan of sitting for long...

I'm back! Having been gone for ages. Visit to the in-laws turned out to be in the middle of nowhere with no phone reception or internet and then MS kicked in with avengence so I haven't been able to get to the computer

Glad to hear MS is clearing up for most of you

Found out 3 more friends are pregnant over christmas, and all due in july! I'm sending them the link for this page, so hopefully they will join in, but they are all first timers and have never experienced the joys of mumsnet before, so might be a little shy to introduce themselves.
