Hey Ladies we have reached the big 1000 so I thought another thread needed to be started

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Stac where are ya? Getting worried....

Welcome to the newbies Gald everyone's scans are going well. My 20 week scan is 6 weeks yesterday...how quick is that going!?!?! I swear it went slower with my first pregnancy.

Thought of another girl's name I like today - Lois. Maybe not to everyone's taste (prob not dh for that matter) but I like it.

Anyway, not a lot to say...for a change! hope everyone's ok x

Wonderstuff · 06/01/2010 19:22

viksam I have the same thing with eating, a few mouthfuls and I feel rubbish, then I'm hungry again in a couple of hours and I am getting so fed up of it! I remember the feeling of sheer joy when I had had dd and could eat properly again last time, even hospital food tasted good. Roll on July.

DeeLite I am hoping that my test gets cancelled, lots of snow here and although all the major roads are fine all the small roads are icy, no more snow forcast tonight, but temperature isn't going to get above freezing before Friday. I was hoping my instructor would get in touch but he has gone all quiet [stressed out emoticon]

Off to get a mini twister lolly, they are the new pinot!

TishTosh21 · 06/01/2010 19:22

oooh curlycasper tell me your system!

stac how did the scan go?

Wonderstuff · 06/01/2010 19:23

Love Lois - I wanted it for dd1 but dh vetoed.

CurlyCasper · 06/01/2010 19:24

Can anyone tell me how long their scan appointment was?

My letter says (edited)-

"an appointment has been made for you with The Consultant. we have arranged for: any investigations which may be required; consultation with a member of the obstetrics team; an ultrasound scan if necessary. Your first visit may take 1-2 hours. try not to pass urine for an hour beforehand, bring a urine sample and your pregnancy health record."

My booking app is not till the 23rd, so I have no notes. What the hell are they going to do with me for two hours? Or will it be a scan, then an hour waiting to see consultant, then five minutes with him to learn bugger all? Any ideas? As I said earlier, I thought this was my booking appointment until midwife called yesterday. My NHS trust gives no information on its antenatal pathway online

DeeLite · 06/01/2010 19:41

CurlyCasper My appointment took about an hour. Scan took about ten minutes and then I was sent up to the maternity department to have bloods taken and a brief chat with the midwife. The bloods bit and chat took only about 15 minutes and the rest was waiting time.

Having said that, every NHS Trust is different and I didn't see a consultant.

Good luck with it!

violetbubbles · 06/01/2010 19:56

Hi everyone
Just checking in to see how everyone's scans are going. Hope everything went well at yours Stac
x

stac14 · 06/01/2010 20:19

Hey ladies
sorry it took so long for me to get on have been at my aunts. The scan went great baby was waving away and wriggling about. They gave us a bit of a scare though as it looked like the membrane of the womb was stuck to its back so 2 sonographers checked us over, luckily it was just being a lazy wee bugger and lying down. Hearts beating strongly and skull has formed as it should. Have pis so will get it uploaded as soon as I can. Thanks for all your support I was so worried as soon as she said there was a heartbeat I cried what a sap. Not caught up on the thread yet so will do that then get back to you xxxx

Love the name lois. I also like lola for a girl but dh vetoed it.
We are going to have Elisha for a boy or a girl, bu haven't decided on a middle name yet. Ds has two middle names, and we might do the same again if we can't choose.

Ms so severe that I'm now vomiting blood. Gp thinks I've just ruptured a blood vessel from heaving too much and it's not that serious but it's bloody painful. They've given me stronger drugs and I'm going to go and stay with my sis so that she can look after ds whilst dh is at work/I'm drugged up.

Hope everything is okay with you stac, do let us know.

viksam · 06/01/2010 20:37

curly sounds a tad wierd but every PCT seems to do things very differently. I had my booking app last tuesday, took about an hour and was all form filling and some questions and a wee sample. Then scan today which took about the same, went in to see the midwife to hand over my notes then the scan then some bloods were taken and that was it. So when is this appointement? I know a lady who is a few weeks ahead of me and she is under thesame hospital and they did things with her in a different order, im sure it will all come together on the day, i know its a sweeping statement but they do seem to know what they are doing............

Stac Really hope ur ok, please post if you feel like it. xx

stac14 · 06/01/2010 20:41

hey gracie think we posted at the same time lol xx

viksam · 06/01/2010 20:44

I had got half way through my post and had curry brought to me so didnt see stacs post! im so glad everythings fine! U'll see when you catch up with the thread i blarted like a baby too!
Gracie that sounds horrid i feel for u.Hope staying with ur sister is better for u. They do say if you have bad ms u have a better labour. xx

Gracie123 · 06/01/2010 21:01

Glad to hear you and Lo are ok stac. Looks like we cross posted!

Gp mentioned that a lot of ms = healthy pregnancy. Doesn't feel very healthy. Tbh I had a cry when he said I needed stronger meds, but he told me off for complaining and pointed out that 100years ago there were no meds and I probably would have just died not sure what he thought that comment was supposed to achieve...

CurlyCasper · 06/01/2010 21:03

stac that's brilliant news. Glad you can now relax.

Thanks for the input dee and vik. The appointment is tomorrow, but I've been analysing the letter more after the MW phone call yesterday. If there's going to be a lot of waiting I want to prepare my impatient DH! Also don't fancy any surprises. Just thought it all sounded a bit wierd, as vik said. I think it's all out of sync because my paperwork was filed over Xmas.

Going with my original dates, it would have been 12-week scan bang on 12 weeks. Booking app with midwife will now be beyond 14 weeks! I would really have wanted this before Christmas (especially as I registered the pregnancy with my doctor way back on Nov 26 and the MWs only got in touch yesterday), cause now I feel it's a bit "tough shit" if I'd been wanting various tests that have to be done at certain times. If it turns out they don't do them, we'd have to find and pay for private tests in a very short space of time.

Also annoyed because I tried to book with midwives directly and they made me go through the GP. I'm sure NICE says women should have direct access to midwives.

Anyway, I'm Sure I'll be happy and content once it's all over tomorrow and I know how things work in this area. Would It really hurt them to produce a web page/leaflet with all the timings and care arrangements that the GP can hand you in the early days? [frustration] whinge over!

stac14 · 06/01/2010 21:07

viksam its suck a relief when you know everything is ok isnt it? what kind of curry?

gracie what a shitty time your having hun, defo let your sis look after you. Mine made dp his dinner tonight which was great as I couldnt face food.

Welcome to the thread all newbies, no doubt I will get to know you better as time goes on, I am lost after being offline most of the day lol, hope your all well and enjoying your pregnancy

curly it sounds like your booking appointment, today I started with the scan which I got at 2.30pm for about 10-15 mins then we had to wait to see the midwife, for urine testing, bloods weight height going over all history. I was with her for about an hour and a ten minute cons with the doc as I have an underactive thyroid. But due to waiting time we didnt get out till tem past 5 so it can be a long day

Hows everyone else today? thanks for puting up with me being so neurotic xxx

OP posts:
CurlyCasper · 06/01/2010 21:14

That's what I thought stac until the midwife called yesterday and made a separate booking appointment for the 23rd!

TishTosh21 · 06/01/2010 21:17

Really pleased that your scan went well stac now we're both safe in the knowledge our little ones are doing just fine

Please put a pic up soon i love looking at scan photos!

stac14 · 06/01/2010 21:42

will do tish need to drag the scanner out lol My 20 week scan is 28/02, well it is if I get the appointment made tomorrow

curly The scan shouldnt take that long unless maybe the midwife and hospital have got thier wires crossed and your being booked in twice. What times your appointment?

Excellent news stac!

Poor you Gracie, I am moaning because I still have nausea and feel rough in general and then I read you are so poorly I truly hope you start to feel better soon. I did have a black humour giggle at your doctors comment, what a thing to say!
