Is anyone else craving alcohol at the moment - or is it just me? Keep really wanting a nice large glass of crisp white wine...trouble is one is never enough!!! Arghh it's a long time to wait until July!

stac14 · 25/01/2010 21:24

glaston what is the the SPD like I have had a lot of groin pains and a sore back but didnt have SPD with DS just not sure if I should be contacting my mw any suggestions greatly appreciated

I'm a bit worried I'm taking this all too seriously, lol. Keep telling myself it's a laugh but I think deep down I must want a girl cos I'm clinging onto the thought more than I expected!!! Just did my friend who is (wierdly) due the same day as me and hers says girl too. Her scan is 3 weeks tomorrow (so is mine, but we're not finding out and they are) God help me if she's confirmed as having a girl cos I'll think mine's definitely a girl then!!!!

DesperateHousewife21 · 25/01/2010 21:33

kitty I keep wanting a nice glass of rose wine, I never really drank the stuff before I got pregnant, I think its prob more the fact that I know I cant have it.

I know July is a long way off, Im also craving all the things I cant have, pate, stilton, fags...ok so its prob a good thing I cant have the last one but still.

GlastonburyGoddess · 25/01/2010 21:53

stac14- Basically spd can affect people in different ways. I experience it as real sore pain on moving between my legs-feels like its my labia major but its not as such its the pelvic floor that lies above it. I also get pain in my lower back, just above my sacrum.

The pain worsens when i go for a long walk, climb steps, roll over in bed, try and put my socks on, get and and out the car etc etc

If it sounds anything like this there are many sites for advice on the web, but to give you some basic tips- get in and out the car with your feet together, roll over in bed trying to keep your legs still+together(difficult) walk up steps one at a time, sit down to put your socks/pants on, sleep with a pillow between your legs to keep your knees more inline with your pelvis and basically dont over do it-listen to your body and if its hurting alot, take a rest.

I would mention it to the midwife. physio appt's can takes 6-8 weeks so the earlier the better imo.

Im so so scared, I cant beleive its got this bad in the space of a week and memories keep flooding back when i was pg with ds1 and couldnt get out of bed without assistance, couldnt put my clothes on my lower half without assistance, it was awful.
Im going to hold out as long as I can bear, then beg the doctor for codeine.

stac14 · 25/01/2010 22:08

kitty I would love a glass of wine or even a bottle lol, Dp says one of his workmates mrs has been having a drink but she is further on than us. My problem is if I have a drink then I will definately want a fag so maybe best to steer clear.

winter I am trying not to believe what its saying but I suppose its hard especially since dp really wants a girl lol

thanks glaston I get pains when I sneeze and sometimes when getting up, I also have groin pains occasionally and lower back pain, maybe I am just falling apart

dh21 I just got mine in October and they are the best things I have ever bought. Totally agree about the craving things you cant have, its a nightmare

On those chinese predicters-For ds1&2 it said they were to be girls! it says boy for this time, so maybe it'll be a girl lol

randomama · 25/01/2010 23:43

um so is no one else having a drink at all? I've been having the odd glass of wine. went off it totally till just after xmas. since then have had a small glass of red a couple of times a week. MW and docs both told me that was absolutely fine, and I find that towards the end of the glass I start to go off it naturally/instinctively anyway, so i don't want another glass. it's like my body is protecting the baby on its own! hasn't made me want a cig either

stc you're not dragging anyone down. please don't feel like you oughtn't post. i really hope all my going on hasn't upset you.

GG SPD sounds awful. there's a woman in my village with same EDD as me and she's already got a walking stick and a girdle/corset thing cos of it. she says by the end of the pg she won't be able to walk at all. poor thing !! hope you find some ways of getting some comfort

randomama · 25/01/2010 23:50

just did the chinese test too. says girl. did it retrospectively for DS, said boy.
well, i guess i'll be finding out in 28 days!!!

DesperateHousewife21 · 26/01/2010 08:47

Ive got such a bad stuffed up nose its really horrible I guess I could have the more evil effects of pregnancy but I have to breathe through my mouth which I hate.

To all those who have given up smoking, I just want to say I think we have all done really well. When friends ask me if i used anything to help i.e patches and I say no they are thoroughly impressed, esp as I used to love smoking. Even if you did use patches etc its still great we all managed to give up for our LO's. Im very proud of us all

kittykat77 · 26/01/2010 09:25

Random - yes I have been having beer - which I don't normally drink, but at least you can buy that at a low alcohol strength, so have been having Carling C2 if I really fancy some, as there is only 1 unit in a whole can of that!

Normally I love wine - especially with a meal, but the problem is I don't think I would just be happy with the one glass, so i have abstained from that to date! Going to a wedding next week though, so will probably sneak in a glass of champagne!

CHinese calendar says girl for me, but tried it with DD and DS as well, and said both girls for them too! Guess there is a 50% chance of it being right anyway!

Is it normal for me to be wearing under the bump maternity trousers at 15 weeks? Also it being my first one.
I only ask because others I know didnt start wearing them til around 20 weeks with their first.

stac14 · 26/01/2010 11:15

tsc have you checked to see if your gp has a dopler? May be worthwhile hun. Its not good for you or lo when your so worried, let us know how you get on

dh21 everyones different, i have under bump trousers and i'm 15wks too. Some people sprout earlier than others so try not to compare yourself with others,.

Whats everyone up to today?

OP posts:
DesperateHousewife21 · 26/01/2010 11:24

The trousers are slightly too big but my normal jeans I really cant do up.

Is anyone taking pics of their growing bump eg. once a week to see the changes?

stac14 · 26/01/2010 11:45

I havent, did read it in one of the books but to be honest i had a belly before i was preggers so dont want pics of it lol have you? Maybe if i did i would notice a difference

OP posts:
Chulita · 26/01/2010 12:51

I've been in under the bump jeans for a couple of weeks, they're too big but normal ones just aren't comfy anymore. I'm even wearing maternity tops, not that I need to yet, I just want to get my money's worth
People last time were always asking for 'the belly shot' on facebook - I reckon it's so the never-been-pregnant girlies can look at how fat you're getting so I never put any on. I have 1 pic of my belly at 41 weeks and that's it - but then I didn't enjoy that pregnancy so I don't want to look back on it too much!

Spirael · 26/01/2010 13:32

Hi everyone! I hope everyone is doing ok today.

I've been looking at the various old wives methods of gender prediction and I'm sat in the middle for most of them, which isn't very enlightening! For example, what time of day the morning sickness hit... I think it was morning for boys and evening for girls. Well, what does early-afternoon mean??

Same with the Chinese prediction. I'm pretty sure that LO was conceived over Hallowe'en (apparently DH approved of my costume ) so it could have either been the 31st October or 1st November! Being 27... I believe October would make it a boy and November a girl?

Oh well... My next scan is the first week in March. Hopefully they'll be able to give an indication then. Though given how troublesome LO was being last time when having the scan done, I won't be too surprised if they can't figure it out.

I don't really mind what gender it is. I think my slight preferance leans towards boy, where as DH would slightly prefer a girl. Which is great, because one of us will get our preferance and the other will be thrilled to have given the other their preferance!

As for maternity clothes, I've been wearing maternity trousers for work for a few weeks. Started shifting to maternity tops a week or two ago, and since the weekend I've been in maternity clothes for casual and formal. They are a little baggy, but nothing a belt can't keep up. So much more comfortable than my normal things!

I've not been taking pictures of my belly. In fact, I've been resisting any pictures being taken of me at all lately! Mostly because at the moment I'm pretty sure I look fat rather than pregnant and really don't want that stored. It doesn't help that my skin is breaking out either.

Lastly, I had a small glass or two of wine over Christmas/New Year. However, I'm not a big drinker normally so cutting it out isn't something that's particularly worried me.

However, right now I really fancy a big glass of crisp wine and a huge slab of brie... Bah!

berberis · 26/01/2010 15:04

Hello everyone, hope everyone doing ok.

thanks stac, that would be great!

i would have the odd glass of wine if i could bear it - had half a glass on xmas day and just felt sick. but if later in the pregnancy i fancy a drink, i will.

desperatehousewife i have just started wearing maternity jeans - they're a bit baggy round the bum, but sooo comfortable on my bump! am 16 and a bit, but started at just after 15 weeks.

my food cravings are really kicking in - made DP drive me to Sainsbury's last night for roll-mop herrings. So lovely. Have just had another two! spirael now that you've mentioned it i really want a big slab of brie and/or stilton, that's what am really craving.

Hey ladies

I have been craving snickers and with ds it was mars bars so I am kind of thinking I may be having another boy lol Totally loving quavers too oh who knows. As you say chulita we will be happy either way, does anyone feel pressure from people about what your having? Everyone keeps saying they hope its a girl, I dont think it matters as long as lo is healthy.

I have some a pair of maternity jeans that are totally hanging off me since the ms got worse but hoping things even out now its calmed down a bit.

I havent even tried drinking yet but as a few have said its a long way till July and I did have a drink when pg with ds, think everything in moderation is fine. Whats wrong with the cheeses? I dont eat them but would a little bit be really that harmful?

OP posts:
orangefizz · 26/01/2010 16:27

hello, I have just switched to maternity clothes this week, but my jeans are a bit too big, they keep falling down! Annoying in between size as my normal trousers are too small.
I have been having a couple of glasses of wine a week, i haven't gone off it at all(!) i personally think that is fine, but everyone has their own view, as my DH says you could prob drink a bottle of vodka and the baby would be fine on a one-off...not recommended of course!!!!!
As for cheese i really miss the blue stuff too, but i have had some in hot dishes as any baddies should be destroyed in cooking, am I a bad mother to be?

DesperateHousewife21 · 26/01/2010 17:31

ARGHHH I still have a stuffy nose, Ive had it alllll day its driving me mad

Ladygagalot · 26/01/2010 17:41

Hi All
Feel the need to rant my body seems to be following into this pattern of waking up about 4am for a pee then not able to get back to sleep until about 7am by which time I have to get up for work This morning it was 3.30am however managed to get to work only 30mins late. Had a shit day at work the clients I work with are so challenging, I ended up very upset (not in front of them) - at the same time worrying about how this upset and work stress will effect my baby (16weeks)...

I too have been suffering from headaches on and off last couple of weeks - paracetamol's don't help!thank god I don't have one today.

Also been having some pain now and again around my tummy and near my belly button - MW said it was round ligament/stretching, so I'm trying to stay calm but still worry a bit.

Sorry for the rant but just typing this message has helped

Cheers

Emster30 · 26/01/2010 19:20

Ooh I'm loving my glass of wine of the week, and a glass lasts me about three hours as well! I've been craving lager as well and while I like Becks Blue, Carling C2 sounds like a good idea for once in a while.

I've been in maternity trousers for about three weeks now and I'm only 14 weeks... oops!
