Hey Ladies we have reached the big 1000 so I thought another thread needed to be started

Thanks for the tips Spirael. Makes me very excited! I looked at Galley Bay and it looks amazing but then looked at the prices and went back to the drawing board! Gorgeous for a honeymoon or a very special treat though....pregnancy not special enough, I'm afraid.

Randomama - maybe you weighed yourself in the evening with all your clothes on?? That can make a huge difference - four or five pounds. For best results, I always weigh myself first thing before I've eaten and after I've peed . I put on 9 pounds in the first 14 weeks but nothing in the last two weeks so I think I'm back on track with recommended weight gain. I was getting a bit of a chocolate habit but I'm trying to shake that now by keeping healthy snacks within easy reach. It's working so far but I'm only one day into my new regime!

Ladygagalot · 23/01/2010 19:34

Cheers stac14 I spent some time coming up with that one, heehee. Earlier last year I was pregnant but sadly got to 12 weeks and discovered I has had a missed miscarriage Thankfully everything seems to be going well with this pregnancy

WhatSheSaid · 23/01/2010 20:45

I've just changed where I am on the list as despite the scan showing me 4-5 days ahead on the date my LMP gave me, the sonographer said they won't change the EDD just for a few days. So I've put myself back to 15th although I think it'll be earlier.

Oh, I heard the heartbeat too the other day at the mws. All good. Mw seems to be trying to talk me into a VBAC now which I'm not too sure about.

Hi forgot to say earlier me and dp went to his sisters house last night and she's given me a HUGE bag of maternity clothes I def won't be buying anymore. It was v generous of her and they will see me through to the end. She also said she didn't start wearing maternity jeans til about 5 months and the tops were later than that.

violetbubbles · 24/01/2010 08:18

Hey Wonder - I've been using Palmer's and Olbas Oil but midwife says if bump gets really itchy there's a good E45 moisturiser that will help

violetbubbles · 24/01/2010 08:21

Just moved my EDD by one day - MW changed it ages ago but hadn't got around to amending the list. Due on 3rd July - which makes me 17 weeks today - yay!

TishTosh21 · 24/01/2010 09:44

Morning all, I'm 15 weeks today just thought I'd let you know lol.

beckyg123 · 24/01/2010 09:57

Morning,
Not been on for a few days so catching up this morning.

I'm 16 weeks today (by midwife dates and 17 weeks on tues by mine!)
I am so excited, last night had definite movements!!! This is my first and got nothing to compare too but it was nothing like regular body movements. The same as i've been feeling on and off for a few weeks but much stronger!!! OH!!!! This is so wonderful!!!

I'm off hillwalking today- nothing too crazy just a gentle stroll!

stac14 · 24/01/2010 11:36

becky thats fab news, i was 15wks yesterday. Did you go hillwalking or leave it cos weather is crap lol.

It seems to be flying in a bit more since i had my twelve week scan, has anyone else felt that?

violet my mw told me they wouldnt change my date even if it was wrong, buggers lol. Do you have the pregnancy glow everyones talking about? Dp says i look great but who knows why lol

tish thats great about maternity clothes, i havent bought much. I'm waiting till my bump needs it

Glad alls going well ladygagalot mumsnet is great for getting support when you need it.

wss was that your first scan? I can't wait to hear lo's heartbeat then i know alls ok, pretty sure there is some movement going on though.

Hows everyone else? Did you have a good weekend? Mine was really quiet, just what i needed lol xx

OP posts:
Emster30 · 24/01/2010 13:02

I've got shedloads of maternity clothes all of a sudden - a friend on another forum sent me a load, and wouldn't take any payment for them, and then I bought a bundle off eBay as well which turned up yesterday. I am size 12 and all the trousers are size 12, but the tops from one person are size 10 and from the other size 14! Never mind, I don't need the tops just yet.

Wonderstuff · 24/01/2010 16:42

Hey all. I got some Palmers which seems to help itchy bump. Had massive wardrobe clear out today, ditching all the stuff I haven't been able to fit into since I was pregnant last time, got rid of 2 big bin bags and put another one full of stuff I have no hope of wearing until next year under the bed. Now seem to be very short of work tops.. Also don't seem to have that much wardrobe space, not sure how that works?

beckyg123 · 24/01/2010 17:17

Aaaahhhhh..... just had a long soak in the bath! Lovely! Was out walking for about 3 hours today and really enjoyed it, but a little stiff now! Yeh stac the weather was crap but it was still great to get some fresh air! The dog loved it too- been feeling sorry for her with all the snow and ice she hasn't had many long walks! She is crashed at my feet now!

Tish and Emster sounds like you are both well kitted out for the next 5/6 months! I think i'm sorted for trousers but not got many tops. Don't really need them yet so waiting for more summery stuff to come in.

This might sound like a sill question- but for those with children already how long did it take you to get back into "normal" clothes after giving birth?

MIL taking us to the pram centre next week to order a pram. I feel its too early but think she wants time to pay it up. we have been looking at the graco 2 in 1s but need to see how it folds up etc for our smallish car! anyone any ideas for prams/buggies good on rough ground? I love getting out with the dog so planning on countryside walks etc with LO too.

wonderstuff sounds like you have been busy - nope don't know how that works with the no space issues!!! strange!

Emster30 · 24/01/2010 17:22

I know what you mean re space - I cleared out my wardrobe a couple of weeks ago but now it's just comfortably full rather than jam packed, so there's still no room for all these new clothes. It's a good idea to put the stuff that won't fit me for the next 6 months plus under the bed - might see what I can do.

CurlyCasper · 24/01/2010 17:54

Thread moving too fast! Just want to mark my place. Finally booked in with midwives at 14+4!

WinterMadness · 24/01/2010 18:13

becky I got back into my jeans when ds was about 15 weeks...some tops sooner (but you'd be amazed how long there's a little bump, or at least I was amazed by it anyway!) but I'll be honest there were some trousers I never got back into even though I lost most if the weight. I think even though you loose weight after a baby you never get quite the shape that you were before. As an example my boobs are smaller now by a cup size and my legs are bigger

Wonderstuff · 24/01/2010 18:21

Vacum bags are the way forward. Like getting a whole new wardrobe when you finally go back to something similar to your old shape.

Took me 4 months after birth to get back in shape, tbh I think I look a bit better with a few extra pounds post partum, a few stretched wobbly bits otherwise.

Pushchairs with bigger wheels seem to cope better with the countryside. I was in the town with dd, and had a silver cross 3D, mainly because its handles can be tucked in so it fits really well into a small boot. Am tempted to keep with it, 'cos i don't want to spend out on another one, but now we are in the country, dunno. Am planning to use a sling for the first 6 months because dd will only be 2.6 and don't want to have to get a double buggy. That graco looks similar to my buggy, I loved mine in the town and it was fab on public transport but small wheels did struggle off road.

Wonderstuff · 24/01/2010 18:24

Also don't forget ebay when looking at pushchairs, my sil got a 2nd hand quinny in good nick for her dd and sold it again for about £20 less than she paid 18 months later.

viksam · 24/01/2010 18:34

Oh god, theres something to look forward to, smaller boobs, im an A cup already!!!!!they will be inverted!!!!!
Im in such a good mood today, i must be having a surge of feel good hormones, it probably wont last!
So 'YAY' for everyone who has had a scan, it does make you feel better doesnt it.
'YAY' For all you lucky people planning holidays, we are terrible at making decisions but have Feb half term off and would love a bit of sun but didnt want to go too far, any ideas anyone??
Becky where do u do ur hill walking? I went to the park today with my dog and it was lovely, i think the light evenings have started to make a differance, suddenly it still being a bit light when on your way home from work is great. I recon I have SAD, i think we all do to an extent.
Im totally rambling now, sorry!
Welcome ladygagalot so sad about last year, this one will be different im sure.
Hope everyone is well.
xx

violetbubbles · 24/01/2010 19:08

Stac - no pregnancy glow yet - I'm starting to think the books are lying about it... . My hair is starting to look pretty fabulous though .

Is anyone else suffering from really, really bad headaches? I'm experiencing them every other day and nothing seems to shift them. I woke up this morning with a dull pain and couldn't get back to sleep. The dull pain has evolved into an intense pain on the right hand side of my head, starting from the base of the skull and throbbing all the way up and over to the back of my eye. I've read a few websites that say women can start to experience migraines in the second trimester...would be good to hear from anyone else experiencing these. Would help put my mind at rest...

xx

kittykat77 · 24/01/2010 19:43

evening everyone.

Tish I am also 15 weeks today

Had a fun afternoon - DS (aged 2.5) managed to burn his hand on a bedside light by touching the bulb - so been nursing him with his hand in a cup of water for the rest of the day...Sometimes I wonder if he will grow up and still be in one piece (he is very accident prone!)

Other than that not too much to report - not sure if I can feel the baby or not, occasionally I think I can, but then I think maybe I have imagined it!

Becky I have never managed to get back into my pre-pregnancy size 12 after having any of my kids - seem to have been stuck at a size 16 ever since I had DD! Have told myself that I WILL lose weight after this one! On the pram front, we bought a graco travel system for DD, and DH discovered when he tried to put it in the car while I was in hospital that it just would not fit in the boot (although that was only a punto!) so it is definately worth checking that out from a logistics point of view! - was a good excuse to get a new car though

Hope everybody else is well.

WhatSheSaid · 24/01/2010 19:51

Becky same as Kittykat for me about the weight loss, about 80% of my pre-dd clothes I have never got back into , I was a size 10 pre-dd and was just getting back into some 12's before this pg. Some of my old jeans would fit my legs but not round my stomach. And I breastfed for over a year, so much for the old "oh it'll make the weight fall off you" argument! Well, it seems to work for some people, not for me though...

WinterMadness · 24/01/2010 20:04

Violet you're due the same day as me and I've been suffering really bad headaches since just before 12 weeks. Sometimes they're ok, sometimes they're horrendous, sometimes they go same days other last days on end. I can't give you any solutions but can tell you you're not alone, a few of us seem to be headachey on the thread. Shit isn't it? Lol

stac14 · 24/01/2010 20:26

becky dp and i went to the park at the begining of the week with the dog and i felt great. We went to the pram centre last week, i also liked the silvercross 3d. We have a focus and i use the car a lot so i dont want a pram that takes ages to put down and stuff. Re pregnancy weight it took me about 2years to go back to what i was. Everyones different hun.
violet know what you mean bout the lack of glow, my skin feels shitty lol also getting head aches, fed up with them too.

Anyone getting groin pain? I know its normal but it can be sore

OP posts:
beckyg123 · 24/01/2010 20:44

Thanks for all the messages about baby weight! I'm sure i'll be the one who's chest doubles in size even though i'm already 34FF (Hmmmmm....is it possible to double that???) Viksam - maybe we could come to some arrangment and redistribute! lol!

I'm having an awful evening - neighbours (very antisocial) have had a huge arguement which ended in a big physical fight further up the street and me calling the police - i will be hugely unpopular but willing to stand up to them via legal routes!!! I'm so stressed and DH is at work. Feeling very alone! Have called him and he can talk all night but can't come home... its not the same.
Would love to move house before LO arrives but who would buy with neighbours like this?

Sorry...needed to write it down!

beckyg123 · 24/01/2010 21:09

On a more positive note - apparently i am glowing! Been told that a few times this week and i actually feel it! Generally more energy, hair glossy and skin clearing up nicely! Except for tonight and during the headaches - been smiling most of the week!

violet I too am having really intense headaches starting from base of head/top of spine, right up and over to behind my eyes. 4head seems to help the bit behind my eyes but even paracetemol not touching the rest - no advice here either but can sympathise!

viksam was in the ochil hills today near stiring, usually don't go much more than an hour away from glasgow.

stac not had any goin pain, so can't sympathise! But like you say it is pretty normal! Is it short sharp pain or does it last a while?

Oh... just noticed the burns smilies
