Hey Ladies we have reached the big 1000 so I thought another thread needed to be started

tish I know that from about 12 weeks the baby moves away when you touch that area thats why I though it might have been the baby. Quite exciting if it was, if you have felt the same kind of thing makes me feel better

Chulita · 22/01/2010 17:06

I've had a distinctive hard bump, very small but in odd places like sort of on my bladder but to one side - if that makes sense, but it moves about so it's got to be Finlet swimming around
I'm eating like a horse so I can't imagine what size I'm going to be in a few months, I just feel so hungry, Help!

Emster30 · 22/01/2010 17:22

My nuchal scan was postponed from yesterday - I persuaded them to fit me in tomorrow as I'll be 13+6 which is the last date you can do them, I think, so the scan is at 8.20am. So much for my Saturday lie in.

This week I have suddenly developed a bump, which is exciting!

WinterMadness · 22/01/2010 18:05

Mw appt went fine (10 mins, straight in straight out)

She didn't want to listen for the heartbeat.

MW: we don't usually this early in case we can't find it

ME: can you try?

MW: but won't you panic if I can't find it?

ME: no [of course]

MW: well what will you do if I can't find it?

ME: nothing [panic]

MW: promise you won't panic?

ME: yep [yeah right]

Anyway she found it! Nice and clear. Yay!!

stac14 · 22/01/2010 18:45

fantastic winter how far on are you? lol at the conversation with the mw

emster thats rotten, I didnt get a nuchal fold scan unless they do it during the 12 week scan

chulita I only felt it when I touched that area still not sure if I feel the flutterings yet, do you?

17 weeks tomorrow stac

DeeLite · 22/01/2010 18:53

Hello All,

My appointment went fine today. Peed on a stick and listened to the heartbeat and asked a few questions. It was quite rushed, to be honest. Plus, my MW really peed me off by referring to obstetric practices when my Mum would have given birth to me "in the 60's / 70's?" suggesting I could pass for five years older than I actually am. Harrrumph!

Meanwhile, yes, I'm very lucky to be going to the Caribbean. The flights are free as we've saved up our Airmiles. Spirael we're going to Antigua - 365 beaches so we're renting a car and hoping to visit as many as we can in 10 days. Only two months to go. Woohoo!

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

DeeLite x

Wonderstuff · 22/01/2010 19:43

Hey all. My bump is definitly there all the time now which is nice, not sure how much is baby and how much is chocolate and cheese though! I think I have felt movement but not sure whether it is baby or digestion! Was weird on Tuesday as bubs was moving all over the place but I couldn't feel it at all.

Deelite that sounds lovely. I am very Can not wait for it to start to warm up. I feel like it has been wet and cold forever.

Anyone else getting earaches? I keep getting an earache in my right ear, more annoying that painful.

Chulita · 22/01/2010 20:17

deelite, don't want to rain on your parade, but we went to Antigua for our honeymoon and it sucked balls [bitter at having an utterly crap honeymoon emoticon] Sandals are the biggest thieves imho. But then, if you're not staying at crappy Sandals resort expecting the honeymoon of your dreams, you'll have fun, the weather was fabulous so I'm deffo over you getting sunshine!
I have felt flutterings every now and then, I'm co-threading with the August thread though and we've had so many mmc's on that one that I'm getting scared for Finlet now

stac14 · 22/01/2010 21:42

chulita try not to worry hun, you have had a scan haven't you? I read loads about mmc before my 12 week scan and drove myself mad.

mw was a cheeky bugger dee that was very rude. glad appointment went well

we've not had a role call in a while, has anything changed for everyone? xxx

well done with the list stac I'm now 36 not 35 but don't care, it's quite nice to see my age frozen!

felt baby for the first time in middle of night last night. DP was having a nightmare, and groaning, which woke me up. I gave him a nudge with my elbow and then felt baby move! S/he must have felt same - sleeping peacefully and then disturbed at 3am!

stac14 · 22/01/2010 23:19

berberis thats lovely about baby, do you want me to update age or are you happy to be a year younger? x

OP posts:
TishTosh21 · 23/01/2010 09:01

Morning all

just dropping by to say it's all still the same. No definite bump yet, haven't felt it move yet but then I'm only 15 weeks tomorrow so it's prob too early for a first timer.

Good luck with your scan em let us know how u get on

DeeLite · 23/01/2010 09:38

Ooh, that's exciting berberis as you're a first timer too and due the same day as me so that means I might feel movement any time soon too. Very cute that it was giving you a little nudge for waking it at 3am.

Chulita - phew, no, we're not staying at Sandals. I had a recommendation from a friend who was there last year with her DP who is Antiguan (well, of Antiguan parents).

randomama · 23/01/2010 12:09

hey all,
sorry haven't written anything in ages. i'm always lurking but i never know what to say! but i wanted to ask for advice about weight gain. I am really worried. at my 12 week app it looked like I'd put on about 5 pounds, which I was a bit gutted about, but then I went to my mum's last night and she had got some scales for xmas and I popped on them and, by their reckonign, I've put on 1 stone 11pound in the past 4 weeks that's nearly half a stone a week . I do have a massive bump and I have put on wieght and I AM eating loads but now I'm really worried because I can't get a grip on the eating and I'm trying to just stick to just eating a tin of tomatoes or an apple every time I need a snack (which is often) but yeah it's clearly waaaay out of control. I'm worried I'm gonna get GD or something...

Anyway... Spirael I think 3 months is a FAB time to fly long hall. When DS was 14 weeks we took him to New York for a couple of weeks. He just breastfed and slept the whole flight. We didn't take a pram, just a babasling and and a mobywrap. It meant I could just have him strapped on and walk around galleries bfing and take him to restaurants and exhibition openings and we even took him to a couple of gigs. We've never been anywhere since and I am soooooo glad we did it then. I remember a gay couple on the plane, when we landed back in London, came over and said, 'god, when we saw you get on with that baby we were gutted (it was an overnight flight)but I just wanted to say wow what a diamond he is not a peep out of him'

hope all's well and wishing everyone a top weekend.

If anyone is maternity clothes shopping I have a discount code for funmum.com
LLH1202 will give you 10% off over and above any sale discounts. It is valid until 12/2/10

Spirael · 23/01/2010 13:05

I also went to Antigua for my honeymoon DeeLite, but I'm glad to say DH and I had an amazing time. It couldn't have been any better, and there was even a hurricane going through! The island was beautiful and everyone was lovely. We stayed at Galley Bay, I think... It was perfect.

One unforgettable experience I can recommend is swimming with stingrays. Much more interesting than dolphins! The jeep tour of the island was lovely too, in comfortable air conditioning as we saw all the sights. Devils bridge, the historical docks, the international centre, etc.

I feel much happier now about planning a long haul flight with LO towards the end of the year. It does definitely sound like that's the way to do it, rather than waiting until 2011.

stac14 · 23/01/2010 13:18

randomama try not to focus on weight gain, also remember what your wearing can add the pounds. If your really you can ask your mw who may offer the assistance of a nutritionalist. But i'm sure your fine.

Thanks for the code wonder that will come in useful for getting stuff, i havent looked on there yet have you bought anything?

tish im 15wks today keep thinking i have felt something but still not sure, even though this is my 2nd i have a big gap so be may later for me too.

spireal think your defo doing the right thing by doing the flight this year. Sounds like your honeymoon was amazing

Emster30 · 23/01/2010 14:48

So I went for my scan this morning (at 13+6 by my last scan date, 14+6 by my LMP date) and guess what, it was too late to do the nuchal scan! I knew that would happen. So it sounds like my dates weren't out by as much as a week - but she said they won't redate me now, so I'm stuck with the later due date. Never mind. The CRL was 87mm which I think makes me something like 14+2 or so, though I know CRL isn't as reliable at this stage. I don't really mind about not having the nuchal scan, I'm under 30 so the risk is low anyway, and she said I can have a blood test at 16 weeks.

It was lovely to see the baby wiggling around! It looked much more like a baby now. Everything is developing fine and it was generally all good news! The pic is on my profile.

Ladygagalot · 23/01/2010 14:51

Hi everyone
I've just joined mumsnet found it really helpful. I will be 16 weeks tomorrow My hubster and I saw the midwife yesterday and we heard the baby's heart beat - amazing I've been feeling better the last week or so before I was feelin very sick, now im getting sore heads and currently have indigestion oh! due date 11th July. Don't think I've felt the baby move yet but somethings going on down (prob gas!!!).

stac14 · 23/01/2010 15:02

emster i'm sure they got my dates wrong too, but they wont change it. I'm 30 and didnt get offered a nuchal fold scan but get the bloods done at 16wks. Pics brill

Welcome to the thread and congrats ladygagalot (good name lol). Is this your first?

OP posts:
Emster30 · 23/01/2010 15:10

Ooh yes and we heard the baby's heartbeat at the scan too!

Wonderstuff · 23/01/2010 17:09

Hi all
Getting jealous of these longhaul travel plans! Though wouldn't fancy taking my 2 year old on a long flight, she's a nightmare on the bus to town

stac14 I ordered the little black dress for a wedding and a green skirt that was a bargin in the sale for work, they sent me the code with my order but I'm hoping that I won't need any more maternity clothes today I got a lovely going out top from ASOS now I must reign in the spending, did a budget for the next year this morning, turns out we can afford our house and the new baby, but only if I stop buying so many clothes

Anyone got anything good to rub on their bump? Mine is getting itchy.

Chulita · 23/01/2010 18:06

emster - they've all given me different dates so who knows when I'm due?! I love the way with you they put you back a week, then realise they were wrong but don't bother changing it Just goes to show that due dates are a load of bumf really.
wonder, I used that Palmer's cocoa lotion you can get in Boots last time. Seemed to work, this one
