Hey Ladies we have reached the big 1000 so I thought another thread needed to be started

TishTosh21 · 13/01/2010 17:44

lol same here stac i think id go insane if i didnt have MN. It never gets boring on here!

viksam · 13/01/2010 17:51

Hi,
My 20 wk scan is in Feb, im 14 wks tomorrow. Got to rush off now to see very sick FIL in the hospital, he has had a massive stroke and now a pulmunary emblomism which sucks. The hospital is in Exeter,an houe away, fingers crossed we get there and back in one piece. Always some bad news to dampen the good, why is that?? Poor DH.

Chulita · 13/01/2010 17:55

stac if you find that magazine I'll be sooo I actually bought a different one that said it came with yarn and a crochet hook only to get it home and not find a hook. So I took it back and there were none left...not impressed at all!
MN has saved me today, it's been pretty boring as you can tell by the number of posts
tsc glad your friend has some good (ish) news
viksam I hope tonight isn't too stressful for you all

stac14 · 13/01/2010 18:11

I will let you know later chulita as I am going to see mil for a couple of hours, DP will probably think I have lost it as I never do anything like this, crocheted (oops on spelling) when I was younger but cant remember how to, but will be a good way to occupy some time

tish think this is why we go through threads so quickly lol

viksam hope you have a safe journey and fil is ok xx

Hi Aussie and Pinkbobble - welcome!

I've been at work too fairy off to finish tea now eat, clear up, bath baby, put him to bed...then catch up with the thread

Chulita · 13/01/2010 18:48

stac I never do anything like this either, I think DH has visions of cosy woolly hats, lol.
winter, I'm very lucky, DD likes to be in bed at 5pm long may it last!

TishTosh21 · 13/01/2010 19:17

I have a question for everyone. People are always saying not to lift anything heavy,so what exactly constitutes too heavy? Shopping bags, the hoover, a full up wash basket, a table??

WhatSheSaid · 13/01/2010 19:31

TishTosh When pg with dd I was working in a nursery with 20 under-2's and I did lots of lifting of them - into cots, for nappy changes etc. So I don't really know what the weight limit is for lifting. I think it's more to prevent damage to yourself as I don't think it poses a real risk to the foetus. You need to be careful to lift properly, all that stuff about bending your knees, not your back etc.

I have just realised that in just over 2 weeks my mother in law arrives for a month and I can't even get drunk to get through it...

Emster30 · 13/01/2010 19:53

Sorry about that vikram - hope your FIL is OK. Good news about the low risk though.

I just got a bundle of maternity clothes on eBay - there are about 6 tops and 3 pairs of trousers, which I got for £12.50 plus £10 postage. I'm a bit concerned as the tops are mostly size 14 while the bottoms are 12s - I'm usually a size smaller on top if anything - but I'll see how they are. They should arrive at the weekend, I hope.

WinterMadness · 13/01/2010 20:34

Hope you FIL is ok Vikram WhatSheSaid A month? Honestly? Wow...so glad we don't speak to my MIL

tsc so pleased to hear that the news your friend got news that was the best of a bad bunch (IYSWIM) Sounds positive.

Tish I was really careful last time - got dh to carry the dog food...silly things like that. Now my son is 13 months and weighs 2 stone. He's only just started walking so falls all the time - I constantly have to carry him, in and out nursery, up and down stairs, whenever he's whingy...a lot of the time. Ironically I've only felt twinges when I've reached into a cupboard or something. I think so long as you lift 'properly' you're ok

chulita - 5pm? My ds would be up at 4am if I did that! He only has about 12-13hours in 24hrs so goes to bed at 8 as of a few night's ago on doctor's advice. Seems to be working so far, got me through to 7.15 - yaaaaayyy!

Wonderstuff · 13/01/2010 21:08

vikram sorry to hear about your fil, that really sucks.
tsc glad that the outcome for your friend is looking more positive, she must have been going out of her mind. Heres hoping the rupture heals.

I forget who asked but it isn't the 20week scan but the 12week one I am trying to sort. Snow, crimbo and moving delayed my booking appt, so request has only just gone in at short notice and mw must have written the wrong phone number down for me, not the end of the world if I miss the window for nuchal fold, but would prefer to have it done.

Anyone else having cravings, I have a thing at the moment for vegetable samosas and onion bajis, can't get enough of them. Was real lemonade and M&S cheese and tomato rolls last time.

Spirael · 13/01/2010 21:54

Hi all! Off to bed imminently, but just thought I'd pop on to say that my scan went fine earlier. LO was the right size with a strong heart beat, so no cause for concern. They changed my dates again, back towards the original date! I think they just have no idea.

I've posted the scan pic, but it's no where near as clear as the one I had done at 9 weeks. I'm so glad I had that private scan, the guy there was great and made sure I could see the screen and he went through everything he was doing. For the NHS one, I couldn't see the screen for virtually the whole time and she didn't really describe anything, except when I prompted with questions.

DH got a good view though of LO dancing around and being awkward for the pictures by stubbornly refusing to face in the right direction. DH says he saw the spine, the arms and legs, the head and the facial features, which is good. So I feel pretty happy now that everything is progressing as it should.

Had a good time after the scan too, wandered into TKMaxx and found a DreamGenie pillow really cheap, so picked that up. Also wandered into Bravissimo to get measured up for some new bras and got told I'm now a 34F, up from 34D. No wonder none of my clothes fit and I've been having back ache...

Anyway, off to sleep now! I can't join you all with a couch day, it's work again tomorrow. Baah... Only another five months, though!

beckyg123 · 14/01/2010 08:01

Morning all!
Yeh! I have fixed my laptop and no more virus!!! I'm amazed at how dependent i am on it but its great this morning sitting with a cuppa, reading the posts and thinking about heading into work!
We have had more snow in glasgow over night which has landed on the remaining compacted ice! Think i'm going to let the keenies clear the roads before i head to work this morning!

Had a night on the couch last night - inspired by many of you! but seriously looking forward to swimming tonight again! I love stretching in the water and feeling weightless! Stac the Glasgowclub centres offer aquanatal classes for anyone over 16 weeks. My closest one is Springburn but it just does normal aquafit which i've seen a few very heavily pregnant women at before.

vikram sounds like things are tough with FIL, hope he gets better soon.

Tish i have been wondering the same thing about lifting! So thanks to all for useful info.

We have been thinking about a new kitchen fors ages stac but never done anything like this before - was it worth it? Kitchen and bathroom at same time - that was brave! but all over at once i suppose!
Our is an awful layout and doors/drawers hanging off, and both cooker and fridgefreezer on there way out ant i have a feeling as soon as baby arrives in the middle of summer they will finally give up! DH and i decided last night to have a look around at prices but will need credit and in this financial climate i don't hold out much hope! hmmm... we can dream!

Off to at least get dressed for work!

WhatSheSaid · 14/01/2010 08:12

Winter yes the m-i-l is coming for a month cos she is in the UK and we are in New Zealand - she can't really pop over for a weekend. They are not staying with us the whole time, doing a bit of travelling around on their own, but they'll be with us for long enough...

stac14 · 14/01/2010 09:00

becky have you looked at joining any of the exercise classes the royal has to offer? Getting both kitchen and bathroom done at one time was a pain but worth it. If you need new fridge and cooker have you had a look in the comet warehouse @ possilpark? The discounts are great. I havent looked into aquanatal yet but i'm not 16wks for another 2wks so defo will look into it.

spireal thats great scan went well, dp and i were thinking about getting a scan @ 30wks as we wont see baby between 20wks and due date, is anyone else thinking about this?

Sorry to all going to work. Ds is quite wheezy today so have kept him off, so i'm not getting a day on my couch lol. How are the rest of you girls?? Xx

Wonderstuff · 14/01/2010 09:23

stac14 I got (and will get again) a scan at 30 weeks because I have a low BMI. You don't get the cute pics you get at 12 and 20 weeks because babs is so big by then they can only look at it a bit at a time which isn't as exciting really. I was a bit disapointed. I know its all about making sure the baby is fine and all that, but cute pics are exciting.

stac14 · 14/01/2010 09:40

wonder i got scanned once a fortnight from 7months with ds but totally forgot you dont get the pics lol. To be honest i just want a scan later as i feel 20wks is a long time not to be checked. In saying that mw did say they would be keeping an eye on babys growth as i have an underactive thyroid so i may get scanned anyway.

Who's going for a 3d scan? I know some people dont want it as they dont want to know the sex but a friend of mine had it and she doesnt know what shes having, must say the dvd is amazing.

Oh and its baby time in asda till 6th feb, they are doing thier baby box for £10 reduced from £20, its full of all the johnsons stuff. Bargain lol

tishtosh, spirael and anyone else I've missed, just want to let you know there is now an ante-natal thread for First Time Frolicker graduates (started by whiteroses who just got her BFP). They are keen to hear updates!

Hope you are all well. I'm thinking hoping the lower back agony I'm experiencing might just have something to do with my uterus popping

fairy472 · 14/01/2010 10:08

Morning, just worked out I could leave work at the end of April! very tempting...
I have a son who will be 4 in april think I am going to find it harder this time round working, running about after him. Was planning to stay till end of may but guess see how I feel.
My 20 week scan inst till Feb23rd!

WickedWitchSouthWest · 14/01/2010 10:24

morning everyone!

welcome newbies

Love all the scan pictures, it's so exciting but I can't believe we don't have any twins on this thread!

tsc good news about your friend, fingers crossed all the bloods come back clear too.

viksam yay at the low risk! I've had my downs test done too - same reason as you I'd ust like to be prepared if our baby will need extra care. I've got to admit I'm crapping myself about it now. Might phone the mw and see if she has the results - we don't get it through the post here. (I've just left a msg on the mw ansaphone, they're going to think I'm mental!). My appt went well and luckily my blood pressure was all the way up to 110 over 50 (due to massive long walk through the snow to get there) so no issue getting enough out of me this time.

stac hope you're enjoying the new bathroom and kitchen! We did our kitchen when I was 7 months gone with dd Thanks for the tip re Asda, I'm going to go up to the Mall later as my poor dd has had a growth spurt and I can't ram her into her t shirts anymore and all her trousers are ankle swingers! She looks like I've dressed her from the lost property box!

I can't believe this but I saw the mw last week @ 15 wks and won't see her again til 28 wks! I have to see the gp at some point apparently so rather than leave that til 32 I'll do that at 25 so scan at 20, gp at 25 and mw at 28 I just want to hear my baby!

Loads of movement in the evenings now, anybody else? I've a feeling I'm going to get a right kicking later on!

I'm stressing about names, too. Me & dh can't agree on anything

Wonderstuff · 14/01/2010 10:28

Got my scan date!! 19th at 9am, yay!

WickedWitchSouthWest · 14/01/2010 10:30

so jealous wonderstuff! Mine should be around the 11th but no sign of that little envelope yet!

stac14 · 14/01/2010 10:31

wwsw how many weeks are you? I cant wait to feel movement, i am at the inbetween stage you were all at a few weeks ago (14wks on saturday)

Just to be nosey who has all felt movement and at what stage?

OP posts:
WickedWitchSouthWest · 14/01/2010 10:35

I'm 16 weeks and have been flutterings for just over a week, but the last few nights have been very definite! With my dd I didn't recognise any movement til I was about 22 weeks .
