Great news bout scan firerise Its a nightmare the length of time spent hanging about the hospital isnt it I was there 3 hours last week at my scan

Lucky winter with the maternity clothes wish I had someone with stuff I could borrow but for now I am going to keep scanning the sales lol

chulita I did the announcement via facebook too much easier than contacting everyone individually lol

Great bargain kkfairy I saw a Hauck travel system in Littlewoods catalogue in the sale for £155 but I didnt like the colour

I saw the sproglet in my first scan today.
Hurrah! Little tyke waved at me (well, was probably just wrigging arms and whatnot) and seems to have all the usual limbs and things.
I was expecting a rush of maternal emotion (as when I first heard the heartbeat last week) but instead I was just fascinated by how weird it is to see something moving inside you and be unable to feel anything.
It was like watching a really cool science experiment. I didn't want to look away, but mainly cos I wanted to know what happened next....
Ok, I'm weird, aren't it?

TishTosh21 · 11/01/2010 21:27

Im wearing my regular jeans but looping a hairband through the hole to put over the button to give them a bit of stretch.

I suppose if i was working atm i would prob need maternity work trousers though.

Failing the jeans its just leggings/tracksuit bottoms.

stac14 · 11/01/2010 21:42

tish I am loving my jeggings their not maternity but so stretchy and really quite cheap, mine were £15 out of new look so may be something to consider

blackcurrant thats great about your scan, have you posted a pic? did they say what your due date is?

I am bored tonight lol

I was a petite size 6 and although only 14.4 weeks all of my work clothes feel horribly tight. Just feel really bloated and fat rather than pregnant! Does anyone else feel bigger in the evening than the morning. I wish my normal work clothes had lycra in them!

Had my first scan before Xmas - my OH was completely not prepared to see the baby moving. It was kicking away!

WickedWitchSouthWest · 11/01/2010 21:53

Well not done any maternity shopping yet - I think the clothes I had with dd (bearing in mind I was pretty massive in the winter with her!) are going to tide me over til the warmer weather. When all the pretty summer things come in I'll buy stuff then - apart from some jeggings but must wait til payday!

I suddenly look pregnant today, there's a definite bump now (16 wks today). I've nicked one of dh's fleeces and it's lush. Toasty toasty now. Anyone resorted to a slanket or similar yet?!

We've booked a group trip away to Center Parcs for my birthday at the beginning of May - I'll be 32 weeks, am I mental?! I'm gonna look like a beached whale AND not be able to go on any of the fun water slides. Might camp out in the spa instead...!

blackcurrant and scuffers I was a bit freaked out with dd to see movement so early, but this one was much more active at the same stage which is a worry!

TishTosh21 · 11/01/2010 22:30

Yeah stac keep meaning to get some jeggings but forget when I get to the shops. I think I'm ok with my normal clothes atm with some minor adjustments to the jeans.

stac14 · 12/01/2010 08:13

Good morning all, how are you today? Its the last day of the workmen for me and they arent here yet! Just flooring and shower to be fitted then the house is back to normal.

tsc is it today your friend gets her scan, hope they get the best possible outcome. Hope you have been feeling alright.

Spirael · 12/01/2010 08:40

Until this week I've been getting away with wearing my larger clothes from before I lost weight, but I've finally made the jump to maternity work clothes yesterday. Not sure I've got a proper bump yet... I'm definitely bigger around the middle, but I think for the moment that the LO is just flatteringly pushing my flab out of the way!

I think the elastic at the waist is pulled to its tightest on the work trousers currently and the top I've gone for is relatively subtle with the extra room. Just got a normal cardigan over the top, I didn't see the point of getting maternity ones as the style I go for doesn't cover my stomach anyway.

At home I'm still getting away with jeans, though also using the hairband trick to give myself a bit of extra space. I find I'm definitely bigger in the evening than during the day. Then I seem to deflate overnight.

I'm the first in my family (for around 20 years!) and the first of my local friends for having children, so no chance of getting much stuff passed to me. On the plus side, it means shiny new things for the LO, hopefully with contributions from my parents, parents-in-law and grandparents.

Im hoping to get things passed down to me as there have been quite a few babies in the family recently, in fact its been like a baby boom. My sister is giving us a very nice high chair which is adjustable on every level you can think of. My MIL wants to buy us a pram and my SIL has a cot to give us, and no doubt friends and family will buy us mountains of clothes and toys!

stac14 · 12/01/2010 11:48

tsc it is amazing how much they can see in the scans, please let us know how she gets on

spiral I am like you we dont have anyone to give us hand me downs unless we have a girl but with family contributions we are should be well prepared, its got to the stage people are fighting over what to get LO. Obviously we will still have stuff to get in but its not as scary as I first thought lol

Some of the things you get for babies are far better than when I had DS.

A lot of my friends are pregnant at the same time tish but they did say the recession would cause a baby boom because we would be going out less lol.

Looks like the snow is gradually starting melt here thank goodness, I nearly fell on the way to the car. The gritters have been shocking the pavements are like sheets of ice. Hope everyones good today x

TishTosh21 · 12/01/2010 13:42

The snow has nearly all gone here too which is great cos it meant i could finally go out for a walk into town.

Still need to get in the car and get to tesco soon. Dont know if ive got the energy to haul myself off the sofa,im quite content sitting here with my cuppa.

beckyg123 · 12/01/2010 14:46

Well i thought i might be in luck for hand me downs as there have been a few babies in both families over last few years but no offers so far!!!

I was randomly sick this morning, had a coughing fit and my breakfast landed in my lap!!! (sorry if TMI!). This happened a few days ago too... think my gag reflex must be weak. Other than that the sickness seems to have stopped and i no longer feel nauseous!

Actually feel like i have lots of energy today- was swimming last night, think that might of helped. So going to go again tonight!

TishTosh21 · 12/01/2010 15:44

Ohh i wish i had the energy to go swimming i love it! I dont have the motivation to go in this weather though id rather spend the evening on the sofa!

beckyg123 · 12/01/2010 16:33

Tish its definately worth forcing yourself if you can! I have seriously enjoyed myself, esp as i feel so heavy in the evenings just now and the water just supports everything! Get off the couch and give it a go Although it is still a bit chilly and our pool was a little on the cool side so had to keep swimming to stay warm so maybe just stay on the couch! lol!

TishTosh21 · 12/01/2010 17:08

haha I will def love to give the swimming classes they do for pregnant ladies a go when the weather gets warmer which also means ill be alot bigger which works out quite well!

stac14 · 12/01/2010 17:36

I'm hoping to join aquanatal at our local pool but need to get a decent swimming costume oh and a bit of heat, once I am in I dont want to go back out in this weather lol so I'm with you tish

OP posts:
Chulita · 12/01/2010 19:19

I got this swimsuit last time and it looks lovely on, very flattering on bump I'm hoping to find a class near me so I can bob around - just need somewhere that'll look after DD while I prat about with a woggle

Emster30 · 12/01/2010 19:21

There are no aquanatal classes anywhere near me unfortunately. I rejoined the gym the other day and was going to go after work tonight but I had to work a bit late and just couldn't be bothered... will go swimming tomorrow lunchtime instead.

Spirael, I'm glad you're also in the maternity clothes since you're the same due date as me. Actually I'm wearing a skirt today which still fits fine, but none of my normal trousers fit at all now. I have one hideous pair of elasticated jeans and my two pairs of mat trousers - I am going to get bored with them pretty quickly!

TishTosh21 · 12/01/2010 20:25

oooh i really like that swinsuit chulita, I havent worn a one-piece since I was about 10, ive always been in bikinis but i dont think id be so comfortable in one sporting a big bump!

TishTosh21 · 12/01/2010 20:25

swimsuit*

Chulita · 12/01/2010 20:29

Yea, all my bikinis are tucked away, probably never to be seen again If it's going to be a one-piece it's got to be a good one, not a fan of mummy bellies hanging out!

TishTosh21 · 12/01/2010 20:34

haha no not a good look.In fact the other day when all my family were gathered together a couple of days after hearingmy good news my sister took great delight in telling me ill get stretch marks. (im quite slim and shes always been a bit )

My grandma wasnt overly excited about the pregnancy in general as me and DP aren't married (yes shes from that generation) and she just said in a very dead pan way that im going to get fat.

Charmed I'm sure..

JBroRo · 12/01/2010 20:44

I got a nice polka dot tankini from mothercare on Sunday.

Quite flattering and covers the old bump!
