chulita thats a lovely cossie.

I am hoping going to aquanatal will also help me meet mums to be in my area and get me out of this house

tish of course you will put weight on in pregnancy but theres everychance you will go back to your pre-pregnancy size, some women do others dont. It took me a long time to get back into mine when I had ds but thats because I was a lazy sod, determined not to do that this time lol

Thanks goodness the big thaw is on its way, I am fec up with the snow lol

Hi all
Back at work after the snow which is good, but dd, who has always shown me complete indifference in the past, has decided she does not want to go to nursery, she crys and trys to follow me out the door, also needing mummy to cuddle her to sleep at night!

Maternity jeans that were way to big a fortnight ago are now a bit tight on my bottom and thighs! Also discovered all my old maternity stuff is mostly summer stuff, have v. limited wardrobe at the moment and it is cold!

GlastonburyGoddess · 12/01/2010 23:01

Givecarrotsachance chulita kittykat Firerise and blackcurrants congratulations on your scans

winterMadness-lucky you about the maternity gear you were given, certainly spares the expense and gives you abit more variety and choice doesn?t it Im a bit of a slummy mummy usually when pregnant, I get a few pairs of trousers and a few tops and wear them to death! Although will have to make a bit more effort this time, being a summer baby and all my clothes are going to be on show rather more than when pregnant with the boys!

TishTosh21 stac14 and Chulita Id love to do aquanatal/go swimming but I need to find a cossie that?s able to contain/support/cover my ginormous norks which have now exploded to a 42G and look ridiculas/offensive in my normal costume If anyone comes across anything with good support, give me a shout please!

Im finding that my normal jeans are ok at the moment for me, although they start feeling quite tight come 5/6pm and I usually have to undo the button when driving home from work! Im hoping this pg will be like ds2 pg, with ds1 I had excessive amounts of fluid and looked like I was carrying twins-I had a big bump from 14 weeks.

Glad to hear the snows going for some of you. Its not melted much here and started snowing again this afternoon, we?re supposed to have lots overnight so will have to wait and see if his schools open tomorrow. Nightmare Im too scared to walk anywhere as Ive had some spd type twinges since 6 weeks pg and am horrified at the thought of having it again. Am doing everything I can to limit damage/stress on my pelvic regien and have resorted to sleeping with a pillow between my legs. Anything to prevent the sheer pain and absurdity of having it with ds1.

GibbonInARibbon · 13/01/2010 07:25

Hello all,

Sorry not posted in a while, truth be known I am finding it hard to follow the thread it moves so fast!

Hope you are all well and congrats on all the scans and good luck to all who have scans coming up

DeeLite · 13/01/2010 07:46

Hello everyone.

Lots more fresh snow this morning on top of the unthawed snow from last week and weekend. I love snow so am very happy!

Not so happy about my weight gain. I'm still squeezing into my usual jeans - out of sheer determination - but feeling really bloated and horrified by the rising weight on the scales. I was pretty good the last few days - eating healthily and not too much - and I still gained two pounds. I'm only 14+2 and have gained nine pounds. Anyone else feeling sad about lack of control over weight gain?

Anyway, hope you're all enjoying some lovely fresh snow this morning, unless you don't like snow, in which case, hope you have a big thaw

violetbubbles · 13/01/2010 08:00

Morning everyone
Just been catching up on the thread. I was so happy to read about all of the successful scans recently...it's great that even more of us are reaching our first scan milestone!

I'm 15 weeks + 4 days now and have my next midwife appointment on Monday. I think this is the one where she takes lots of blood to test for Downs etc. I am feeling very anxious about getting the results back for these tests and can't wait to know if everything is okay in there! Anyone else feeling anxious?

Apart from that everything is fine. I am starting to feel more pregnant now and in the last two weeks my tummy has definitely expanded to look more like a pregnancy tummy...instead of an "oops, I ate too many Quality Street at Xmas" belly . I have also been feeling a lot less nauseous during the day but I'm still feeling very tired. Last night I didn't have a proper dinner because I was out and by about 8pm I felt so bad. Reminded me of how I used to feel a couple of weeks ago. I must remember to eat every two hours! Tonight DH is making me a massive pot of homemade soup with lentils and pulses in it (for protein) because I still can't eat meat, or cook, without gagging! .

It's really lovely to be able to log in here to catch up on all of your pregnancy chat - makes me feel less isolated! .
xx

Wonderstuff · 13/01/2010 08:36

Another bloody snow day here - I would much rather be at work than stuck in with my 2 year old. I love her to bits but working part time gives me sanity. Also stuck in with no phone as I stupidly left my mobile at my mums yesterday and have no idea where my land line is! Total nightmare, was told could have nuchal fold scan if I called the hospital this morning, have sent dh an email asking him to organise it, hope he gets it in time.
Watching Bob the Builder AGAIN! How long does it take for DVD's to wear out??

Chulita · 13/01/2010 09:01

Deelite - don't weigh yourself! Seriously, it just messes your brain up. I'm a size 10, I love exercising, I've always been very fit and with DD I got quite down about how much weight I put on. Tbh, I lost all but 8 lbs within the first 3 months and I couldn't exercise til she was 10 months because of knock-on effects of an em cs but it did go, I had 2 lbs to lose when I got pg this time round, but we're trying to have them close together so I wasn't convinced I'd get totally back to normal. The only thing is that my stomach is completely ruined. Sorry for the long post, I just remember how miserable I was last time and this time I'm not going to hop on the scales because I know that I'll lose it afterwards with a bit of effort!

Anyhoo, yesterday I felt amazing, full of energy, only retched when I cleaned my teeth and I got loads done. Today I binned my morning cuppa and then my breakfast and feel a bit yeuch again [sigh] 12+6 though so shouldn't be long now...

violet, we're not having those tests done because it wouldn't make a difference to the way we'd do anything. I hope it all goes well for you!

Chulita · 13/01/2010 09:17

GlastonburyGoddess - this is as big as I could find, maybe squeeze into a D?

TishTosh21 · 13/01/2010 09:49

I dont even own a pair of scales so i dont know how much i weigh, im seeing my mw next on 27th Jan and im sure she will weigh me then.

I had blood taken at the hosp after having my scan for downs etc, they said they will give my mw the results and if everything is ok i wont hear from them but if im at a higher risk i have to go back for more tests but id be very surprised and unlucky if there was anything wrong considering my age.

It snowed again here last night but only a slight dusting, just cant wait til about april (my birthday!) when the signs of spring are on the way, really fed up of cold weather now.

Spirael · 13/01/2010 09:58

Morning all! You lot are all making me want to go swimming now. I might have dig out my larger costume and venture to the pool this weekend, if I can find some time. Might have an opportunity on Sat.

I had a look online to see whether either of my local leisure centres offered any pregnancy exercise classes but neither had anything advertised about them. However if I wander in I can always ask in person, since they might just not have them on the website.

Got my scan this afternoon at 1pm. I'm a bit nervous, but excited too! I haven't had any feelings that anything is wrong, I'm still getting plenty of symptoms, so fingers crossed that LO is absolutely fine and dandy in there.

Just really hope all the staff have made it into LGI today... The roads are sheet ice! Roads have been closed and over in Bradford apparently all the buses were cancelled this morning. I'm going to be so upset if I get all the way there and find my appointment has been cancelled.

Chulita · 13/01/2010 10:07

Good luck with your scan spirael!

We have no snow here but DH said that getting into work 18 miles away was a nightmare cos they have several inches...seriously, we're in a snow-less hollow here (not complaining though, snow makes everything such hard work!)

I was going to (finally) have my booking in appt today but the MW was on call last night and ended up working all night so has gone home to bed. I don't blame her but it's been cancelled 4 times now and it's getting a bit irritating. Mind you, it's only going to be getting notes, loads of leaflets and a chat so I shouldn't be too impatient!

Albrecht · 13/01/2010 10:22

Swimming does sound good. But I haven't been in a few years - I was going down a slide and an old grandad went down too quickly after me and whacked into me at the bottom, pushing me underwater. The worst bit was his horrible old toenail ripped all the way down the side of my costume, so I had to get out holding the front and back together to avoid complete exposure. Its probably time I got over that trauma though!

I went for my 16 week midwife appointment yesterday and she listened for the heartbeat. It took ages to find and I was getting pretty worried. She had a student with her and explained to HER that although you can hear the heartbeat from 10 wks, at 16 wks it can be really hard to find as the placenta is usually in the way, after 16 wks the placenta moves up so its easier again. I wish she'd told ME this beforehand! But hopefully will be useful info for some of you ladies coming up to 16 weeks.

TishTosh21 · 13/01/2010 10:23

How far gone are you chulita? Have you had your scan yet?

Chulita · 13/01/2010 10:44

I had my scan on Monday, I'm 12+6. I think I'd be far more irritated if I hadn't had the scan tbh!

TishTosh21 · 13/01/2010 11:26

oh right lol was getting a bit panicked there thinking you hadnt had it!

GlastonburyGoddess · 13/01/2010 12:00

Another snow day here too. Was a bit silly and decided to drive ds1 to school because I also needed loads of shopping. Got halfway down hill and came face to face with a transit van, had it in first but couldnt stop, luckily we didnt hit each other, then got down to the bottom and couldnt stop at the junction on the main road, thankfully there were no cars coming twas a bit hair raising to say the least.
I have stocked up on basics like milk, bread and cat food so wont be venturing out in the car again now for at least another week!

Have lost 9lb since the beggining of december so Im quite chuffed, at least ms is good for something, although Im a bit overweight for my height anyway, just trying not to put loads on this pregnancy.

I wouldnt worry too much about weight gain, think of all the extra blood, placenta, baby and fluid your be carrying-with ds1 I put on 4 stone, but I had lost 3 stone when i weighed myself a week after giving birth eating a healthy balanced diet is the key and not giving in to the "im eating for two" wives tale, when the extra calories needed in pregnancy are about 250, which equates to roughly two slices of plain bread!!

I had a shock last night, i was laid in bed on my back thinking about stuff and I felt movement!!! very bizarre as Im only 14+3. with ds1 i felt it at 19weeks, ds2 I was 16weeks, so It was a big shock to feel it so early!!

stac14 · 13/01/2010 12:02

Morning all

glastonbury I totally forgot about my expanding boobs, had a look online and found this www.yummymummymaternity.co.uk/maternity-swimsuit-big-breast-cup-sizes-f--g-1803-p.asp but it is £56 which I thought was quite expensive.

violet we are having the blood test on 1st Feb, I wasnt too bothered but DP would like it done. I am like chulita on the basis it wouldnt make a difference to me at all, so really just doing it to keep DP happy lol. Hope your soups fab

wonder dont think the bloody things wear out, the only way ds stopped watching them was if he had scratched it so it jumped. Think with some of the onese he used to watch (like bob the builder) I kind of allowed him to be careless

deelite defo try to avoid the scales it just depresses you, midwife told me the other week that its inevitable so dont try and stop it lol was alright for her to say she had just lost 2stones on the lighter life diet

Spireal hope all goes well with the scan, i was hoping the snow would have stopped others getting in so I wouldnt be waiting long but it turned out that was thier busiest day. You will have a lovely pic to show us soon

Thanks for the tip albrecht that must have been nerve wracking

chulita wish we were snowless here its been lying thick since the middle of december, but not its compacted and icy. I am sure some of the ligament pains I am getting are due to trying to stay upright lol

How are the rest of you ladies? tsc any news about your friend? My ms is coming and going hope this is a sign it is going completely

Chulita · 13/01/2010 12:06

Man alive! How many maternity clothing sites are there out there?! I'd like some new stuff but it's all so expensive (I'm a bit of a cheapskate when it comes to my own clothes ) Thanks for another link to peruse stac!

stac14 · 13/01/2010 12:17

I know chulita wish primark did maternity wear, this will be my last baby so wont need it again after this one. I'm going to try some of the supermarkets see if they do cheaper maternity wear

OP posts:
Wonderstuff · 13/01/2010 12:24

Well snowed in, they have closed the road out of the village, but DH is home which is nice (though he isn't happy he in sales and the snow is costing us a fortune).
Can't get through to the hospital now, constantly engaged! So looks like I won't get a scan in time after all
Could all be worse though, keep thinking of poor women going into labour at the moment, must be a nightmare worrying about getting to the hospital. One of dh's work mates wife had an unplanned homebirth last week! Thankfully they were both fine.

TishTosh21 · 13/01/2010 12:38

mmm sitting on sofa with cuppa tea, choc fingers watching friends

what is everyone else doing??

Chulita · 13/01/2010 12:46

sitting on sofa eating salad and trying to let youtube teach me to crochet - can't get the hang of it!

stac14 · 13/01/2010 12:50

wonder a friend of mine had an unplanned hoe birth and it made the local newspaper lol. Were you told it has to be exactly 20 weeks for scan?

I am sitting on the sofa eating dairylea on toast watching celeb big bro, I am turning into a lazy bitch lol but have done the housework and been to the shops so just dinner to do.

chulita have you seen the magazine thing out about crochet? first issue is 99p then think its £2.50 per week that may help you

OP posts:
Chulita · 13/01/2010 12:57

[sulks] they've sold out in my little po-dunk 'village', and in both the nearest towns (I didn't drive all the way there specifically for that mag btw) so I'm doing myself
How good do boiled eggs taste today? I've had 2 with my salad and I'm eyeing the rest of the box up - how many is too many?
