July 2010 - a quieter thread for those who can't keep up!

Hi there

I have been on the July thread, but it moves so fast and as I don't have time (or energy being so sleepy), I can't keep up with everyone who is on several times a day! If anyone else wants to join me in a slower thread to share how your pregnancy is developing, feel free!

OP posts:

I was really hoping it was going to ease off in the second trimester, but if anything it's been worse over the last couple of weeks... add to which my mum was sick every day for 7 months with the both of us. I just can't go on like this - if I'm no better by the weekend I will have to go and see the doctor. lifeistooshort I know what you mean, hyperimus gravidus or something (wrong spelling I know) - but that seems to be if you can't keep food/water down - and I can do that for the best part so it's not physiologically that serious... it's just driving me menkul!

Ghouls We want to know , how can we have that information freely at hand and not know? I'd like us to be able to keep it a secret from others until the birth but we're both crap with secrets so I can't see that happening haha.

Maternity clothes? Blimey, I thought I'd get away with it for a bit longer but today I'm wearing my biggest skirt and my tummy is touching the waistband and I'll probably have to undo the button after lunch. I bought a couple of maternity vest tops the other week which I thought would be gaping... as it is they fit quite nicely although obviously they hang a bit lower at the front.

Aussieng · 13/01/2010 13:55

Hi everyone. Can I join this group please? I'm going to join the main July thread too but think I will be a bit intimidated by the amount of posting on there to join in much and and other and this seems a bit more chilled I had settled nicely in the August thread but was redated at my (nuchal)scan yesterday to 13 weeks making me due on 20 July. I would ignore the redate (because I don't think that 13 weeks is possible unlesss it was immaculate conception) but I was also told that I have a fibroid near the baby's exit route making a casearian a bit more likely in which case I know they will go by my new due date.

Hi Ski - I was on the mid 30's TTC thread for a while (struggled to keep up with that one too) so it has been nice to see so many people from there now on the ante-natal boards - I think we done good . FWIW I also still have terrible sickness - well nausea rather than sickness, have lost about 6lbs in weight but on the whole do keep the food and liquid down so know what you mean about the psychological side of it. I eat ginger biscuits when I feel really bad - they don't help at all but they do actually make me a little sick and my body seems somehow to cope with that better than all the dry heaving.

skihorse · 13/01/2010 19:18

Aussieng Great to see you again and congratulations! We have a PESH thread in ante-natal - so same humour but now tee-total! We have TWO of our members already due July 20th so we could probably start doing a sweepstake at this point. We also have VAG got a BFP today. I'd love to see you back with us.

I got on OK with ginger at first and in fact used to nibble on ginger for enjoyment but now? urgh, makes me heave. Cheese seems to be my only saviour! Actually yoghurt with berries is a good'un.

I've actually made the doctor's appointment for friday morning and I'm going to have to be honest... e.g., apparently when I've been out of it and very tired I've been ranting about abortion/life over. So I might have to say "if you don't give me tablets I am going to go quite menkul"!

tobago04 · 13/01/2010 19:19

Evening all,welcome Aussieng
Had my scan today,it was lovely and everything is fine,
they've put back so i'm due 2nd August now and am 11wks 2 days, but my other two were early so will stay on this thread if thats ok?
It was alot quieter than my other two were at their scans but it kept doing little boxing moves!
Thought i was getting a little bump but it must just be all the chocolate i've been eating if i'm only 11wks
Hope your feeling better soon ski
We are'nt going to find out the sex,i quite like having a suprise and it's the only thing that keeps me going through the labour,it is tempting though!

GibbonInARibbon · 15/01/2010 08:22

Hello all,

Is it ok to join too? I am having trouble keeping up with the faster thread. Am 15 weeks now and still waiting for the energy and lack of nausea the 2nd trimester promises

skihorse · 15/01/2010 10:36

Gibbon Welcome. I just can't keep up with the other one, and dare I say it? I want facts, not gibberish "read in a magazine" or the like.

I too am eagerly awaiting an energy rush/abatement of sickness. I did a 12 hour day at the office on Weds and thought wahey! I'm back! Then threw up violently yesterday morning and slept for 12 hours last night... perhaps I celebrated too early?

Update from docs this morning (after the early morning vomit session obv.): It transpires that here in NL the medical profession is extremely reluctant to prescribe anti-emetics as they feel there has not been enough research done on pregnant women to ascertain whether the foetus will be harmed or not. So... I've got preggo-safe travel-sickness pills instead which I can take on an adhoc basis.

GibbonInARibbon · 15/01/2010 12:51

Thanks Ski

Sorry to hear you are feeling so rough still, you must be feeling dreadful if you are throwing up I have barely done that, more a constant nausea. I am hopeful it's on it's way out as it's really mainly the evenings now that I feel dodgy.

Can't wait for the spring, lack of sunshine does not help with the wanting to hibernate feeling.

ApuskiDusky · 15/01/2010 16:04

Hi, is it OK if I transfer over too? I'm not feeling the need to post daily about the pregnancy so by the time I do, a million posts have gone by!

Sorry to hear that you're still feeling sick, Gibbon and skihorse - thankfully I am much better than I was and off the meds, but I am acting like I am completely fine and then suffering for it when I overdo things. Because I felt so guilty about having been out of action at home and work, I feel obliged to go rushing around saying 'I'm fine now!' and it's not completely realistic.

I'm now mostly into maternity trousers and suitably long tops, though no one thinks I have a bump apart from me and DH. Actually it's weird, because I wasn't at work when my colleagues were told I was pregnant (because I was off sick and then working from home), now I'm back I haven't the faintest idea who knows and who doesn't, and it seems there has been very little gossiping going on so loads of people don't know. I'd rather the news just spread rather than me announcing it to everyone. I could just wait until I get really big I guess....

GibbonInARibbon · 15/01/2010 16:20

Hello Apuski glad you are here too was thinking of you the other day and wondering how you were It's good to hear you are feeling better, you were so very poorly. I can't complain really, I am no where near as bad as I was so hoping it's coming to an end soon.

I was working when I had DD, my friends at work knew but everyone else just guessed when I started to really show (I'm guessing some knew for a while but were worried to ask in case I was just eating too many pies )

This time I am showing way earlier so people are guessing sooner.

ApuskiDusky · 15/01/2010 16:41

Hi Gibbon, I don't think I'm showing more than last time at this stage, as last pregnancy I had put on about 2 stone by this point , though I'm starting to make up for the lack of eating over the last 3 months - and best of all I am enjoying chocolate again! And the odd taster of wine as well! Small pleasures...

Aussieng · 15/01/2010 16:58

Hi All - thanks tobago - it is lovely seeing the scan isn't it? It's the first time I've felt pregnant rather than just sick and to be honest a bit resentful (dreadful I know). I also have a little bump but I think it is mainly constipation

Sorry about that Ski but you can understand the reluctance I suppose. Have you tried travel sickness bands? They have worked for me a bit but now sometimes the sickness creeps up on me without warning.

Hello Gibbon and Apuski. I would say welcome but I am only just settling in here too . I agree Gibbon that the cold is really making felling sickly much worse.

GibbonInARibbon · 15/01/2010 18:59

Ahh yes I am back on the chocolate now this pregnancy I am craving far more crapola food. Need to get in healthy mode.

Hello Aussieng

GhoulsAreLoud · 15/01/2010 19:30

Hi all and welcome from he other thread guys.

Just a quick reply to lifeistooshort from me - yep, I find a hypnobirthing lady really near to me who can do private sessions at home so almost 100% certain I'm going to book it. She said to get in touch next month. What about you, any news on doing a refresher? And did you find a IMW?

Aussieng · 15/01/2010 20:50

Gibbon I must have a super healthy baby - it is all melon slices and carrot stick cravings for me...bit of a shock to my system since my body has pretty much been a fruit free zone for the last 10 years. But I miss really enjoying chocolate.

GibbonInARibbon · 16/01/2010 09:35

Aussieng I was like that with DD. Alas, this time, being I am ashamed of my eating habits.

It's so weird, I have been a veggie over 20 yrs and one of the things guaranteed to make me really sick in the first 10 weeks was even looking at veg! All I wanted was carbs, carbs, carbs. That is easing now thankfully and I am back on the fruit and veg. Still feels like a token gesture against all the rubbish I'm eating though

Hope everyone is well

Scruffers · 18/01/2010 13:43

Hello, I do not really have any symptoms at the moment (lucky I know!) but as a result I really don't feel pregnant. I have a slight bump but sometimes I worry that I have imagined the whole thing! Has anyone else lost the symptoms of the early weeks and feeling completely normal again?

tobago04 · 18/01/2010 20:57

Hi scruffers how many weeks are you? You do usually start to feel better in the 2nd trimester,i don't really feel pregnant either,ms has now gone, just feel so tired all the time,
Is anyone taking any vitamins? Was thinking may be there was something i could take to give me some energy, anyone got any recommendations please?

Scruffers · 19/01/2010 14:34

Hi tobago04, I'm 15.4 weeks so well into my 2nd trimester. As for energy I found gentle exercise has really helped. I'm taking the pregnacare vitamins that includes Omega 3 which can also help with tiredness.

skihorse · 20/01/2010 07:18

tobago If you find something, please let me know - poeple are so judgemental when they see a pregnant woman having a line! Although I was awake for 18 hours yesterday. This of course does not bode well for my energy levels over the next few days...

tobago04 · 20/01/2010 12:47

Lol ski
I agree scruffers it definatley helps when i just get off my arse and do something,am actually feeling better these last couple of days,it's also helps that dd2 has started nursery so i get a couple of hours off

lollopops · 20/01/2010 21:10

Hi everyone!

I am due on 14th July, so about 15 weeks I suffered an eptopic pregnancy in the summer, so this baby really is a blessing.

I already have a daughter of 13 and twin boys of eleven, so I must be mad! . How are we all doing? I'm still not past the 'sicky' stage yet, which isn't good, but, on a positive note, my temper tantrums are subsiding!!

GibbonInARibbon · 21/01/2010 16:37

Hello lollopops and congrats! I'm 16 weeks and still feeling rough too, am hoping it lifts soon.

mrscrocoduck · 21/01/2010 17:27

Hi all! Have been away so missed a lot of newcomers! Hello!!

I have my first scan tomorrow (when I'll nearly be 13wks). Am so much more nervous this time round. My imagination's been going into overdrive. I've had countless bad dreams about them finding a 'missed miscarriage'. No reason for it I suppose. I hated the moment with my first pregnancy when the sonographer brought the image up but then tooka bout 30 seconds (a lifetime) to declare all looked ok.

Probably won't sleep tonight. Anyone else still waiting for that first scan?!

tobago04 · 21/01/2010 21:39

Welcome lollopops and congratulations
Hope you had a good holiday mrscrocoduck how did your family take the news? Good luck with your scan tomorrow
Hope everyone else is ok

mrscrocoduck · 23/01/2010 19:37

Thanks tobago04 it was good. All's well as far as can be seen at this stage. But they did find a large ovarian cyst. ANyone else had one in pregnancy. I now have to go back and see the consultant on Tuesday. Trying not to let it worry me, but...
