thanks somewhat. i think it's because the chores don't go anywhere that i get so stressed.

ctfn think xposted earlier. like all your name options. i don't think iris is old-fashioned; really like it. i'm named after my father who died a while ago. in a way it's nice that my name is a reminder of him. if we were having a boy we would've used my dad's as a middle name.

my current name-favourite i came across fairly randomly the other day. then realised even though proper name in own right, it's totally coincidently a cheesy combo of mine and dh's names!!! so now dunno.

CantThinkofFunnyName · 03/12/2009 12:50

Oooh Biccy - my stepdaughter is called Holly and it's her birthday today. Given that we are having a December arrival (rather than Jan now), Holly would deffo have been on my shortlist if not already taken!!

With regards names, is anyone else finding that suddenly all those people that you hated as a kid keep popping into your head when you try and think of names? Tbh I'm really struggling. I wrote a list of names I like, but none of them feel right. "It" is winning so far, closely followed by "Oi you"...poor kid is gonna be screwed.

Partyofsixsoontobeseven · 03/12/2009 13:17

Hi all, exciting new (hopefully birthing) thread.

We're a bit more odd with names, a sam or ben wouldn't go with our other children. Not that the others are really bad or anything but still need something a tad different. Don't know what we're having so Austin, Redford or Trey for a boy, Inez, Orla or Imogen for a girl. Surname is Jones by the way, so any suggestions for or against very welcome.
Dh likes Orla and Austin.
Ds(16) says if we pick any of those he won't tell anyone because they're horible.
Dd(11) wants Poppy [cat emotion]as 3 friends cats are called Poppy (no offence to any poppys)
dd(7) wants Candy OMG no (again no offence)
Dd(6) No bothered but doesn't want one of those boys.(not name by the way doesn't want an actual Boy)

Glad to hear everyones aches pains and scares are settling down, fingers crossed we get a few more weeks under our belts.

Saying that though I to have been feeling very peculiar, Bh very painful and more often although no regular pattern like conts, and yesterday and again today keep getting strong waves of nausea, and shaky feeling.

Anyway now I've bored you all, I'm off to check my blood pressure and wee.

Hi can I join your thread? Didnt know this thread existed and could do with some support in the last hurdle.

I am due 27th jan but have a section booked in for the 20th jan (if i go that long). I had pre-eclampsia with my dd and she was born at 36 weeks, I have gestational diabetes with this one from around 26 weeks and that split pelvis thing and split upper abdo muscles. I am getting a bit sick of it all now, anyone else?

I also need to get motivated cos dont seem at all sorted for new arrival or xmas

CantThinkofFunnyName · 03/12/2009 13:49

Welcome Nomorebooze and Mummytopebs. Between our motley crew here we seem to have the fair share of SDP/PGP, GD, PE - although first I've heard of split upper abdo muscles .

Hi all,

Haven't been on this since I was first pregnant as had forgotten where the forum was!! My brain hasn't been working since I fell pregnant!!

I am stuck for a middle name, any suggestions??? First name Amelia (Millie), I was thinking Rose but Amelia Rose sounds a bit like a ship to me, plus it is his mothers maiden name and I don't like her so wanted to think of something else, otherwise she will end up with Rose as the middle name (no offence to anyone with Rose as a middle name I like it just the inlaw link.)

Also, I am finding I am getting very aggitated very easily at the moment, particularly at night when I am trying to sleep and find my husband is breathing to loudly!! Is anyone else finding this?

Partyofsixsoontobeseven · 03/12/2009 14:22

Thanks yangymac I think it will be Austin for a boy, but not sure about a girls, what with three already have exhausted the names I like.

Was on another thead the other day about names and was discusing how hard it is to make a decision for a name the child has to live with. My dd(7) is Casey (think train driver) and she wants to change her name (is quite adamant about it as well) to Scarlett. I just keep telling her how wonderful she is and how everyone will remember her.

I suppose we have to accept as parents that we can't get everything right all the time, Did I just type that out loud, We get everything right, sorry my pg brain is failing me again

ARRIVED

Iwonder who will be first to jump from the expected to arrived list.

crumpette · 03/12/2009 14:47

alibobins good to hear you are ok, bleed must have been scary but yes I hope all is settling down for you

I bet Londonlottie will be first, closely followed by shiny and ali

So far the threat of induction at 37 weeks (16th dec) is unsubstantiated so I am betting this one wont arrive til Jan, but DP has been told by his work that he gets 2 weeks of full pay if it arrives in December (I asked if he meant 2 weeks of paternity leave but apparently his company have some new fancy US company backing them which has good benefits...) so he is v.keen to provoke it.. I suspect he may have been reading up on ways to trigger labour..

flyingma re nursing bras, I breastfed DD and I found that my boobs MASSIVELY increased in size after she was born. Not much change in pregnancy then suddenly I went from a C to an F cup for the first month or so. Not what I was expecting!! Then then a DD cup as I guess my supply regulated. I think as a general rule go for one cup size larger and one back size larger, though I may be wrong on that. This time my back size hasnt changed at all, and I thought it was meant to increase as your ribcage expands in pregnancy, but am still 34. I have heard a rumour that the boobs won't get huge again as it is my 2nd, so I am not really sure what to do bra-wise myself!

As for pushchairs they always try to sell you a carrycot and say in a stern voice 'you musnt have a car seat the baby can stay in a car seat for no more than 2 hours' but tbh with DD I had car seat and buggy base, I didnt keep her in it for hours, but theres no way I would have wanted a large carrycot attachment. Most of the time I had her in a baby carrier anyway which she loved.

This time I have been a bit naughty and bought a new buggy (hasnt arrived yet)... the icandy peach! whooo am quite excited! how sad is that but again I predict I will use my baby carrier a lot (I have a 'babybjorn active' one which was fabulous last time)

Sixmincepiessoontobeseven · 03/12/2009 14:50

Thought I'd give my self a festive name for christmas, can't you tell I'm completely bored in the office on my own.

Only 9 works hours left.

Anyhow off to brew and find a

mistletoekisses · 03/12/2009 14:51

Welcome mummytopebs, nomorebooze and Laura! Add yourselves to the list of due dates (you will see it if you scroll further down).

Love the discussion re. names! DH and I are no closer to deciding. With DS, the name suddenly clicked when he was about 3/4 days old. Hopefully the same will happen this time round.

Ali - glad you are feeling better. What a relief!

Showme - sorry you are not feeling well. Dare I ask, would it be a help if your MIL was to come and help? You could sit and tell her what needs doing? That is of course assuming you have that sort of relationship with her.

Laura - are you feeling overwhelmed/ nervous about the new arrival? In my first pregnancy, I found myself more agitated through sheer nerves TBH. This time round (touchwood) am sleeping much better-simply because I feel a lot more relaxed. Just hope it lasts!

Sorry not to respond to everyone, this thread is getting much busier as we gradually all start maternity leave!

sockmonkey · 03/12/2009 14:58

Welcome nomorebooze and mummytopebs!

Well, I have just got back from a walk into town. I have finally bought some nappies breastpads & STs. I feel a lot better for having them in the house... all baby needs now is some clothes

crumpette · 03/12/2009 15:03

oops i posted and somehow didn't see any of this page! [doh] mistletoekisses alas I am still at work secretly mumsnetting while colleagues are at lunch (an overly long xmas lunch! tssk) I am munching choc croissant- is that acceptable lunchtime food..? hmmm (crumpette doesn't want to be weighed...!)

Anyway welcome to nomorebooze and mummytopebs

I am loving the name discussions I have to say that the name we I gave DD wasn't even considered while I was pregnant, it just seemed to really suit her after she was born and she couldn't be anything else, if that makes sense. This time it's a boy and I am totally uninspired, not just because it's a boy but all the names I like are girls names so I think I will just let DP choose the name for this one, his favourite is James, I was liking Nicolas/Nicholas but he keeps saying 'knickerless' so to shut him up this baby is more than likely to be a James..!!!

Sixmincepiessoontobeseven · 03/12/2009 15:10

Well done sockmonkey nearly there, although I would highly recommend some clothes for baby.

Looked at my hospital stuff last night and guess what its still where it was. I really need to do something. 1st week off next week so will defo start to get organised then.

Got my leaving pressies yesterday, pjs & slippers for me and a baby bouncer for baby. Also got birthday money for 29th. I suppose they're not that bad!!

I just keep thinking if we have a little of everything then we will be ok for a couple of days and the dh can go shopping if needs be. So have a box of nappies, sacks, wipes etc. Packet each of breastpads & STs, Steriliser, bottles, box of formula and a few ready made cartons for emergencies. vests, babygros and outdoor all in one. Have car seat so can bring home but no pram yet!! (hoping santa might bring me one)

Hi crumpette my mum suggested james for use and while I like all the James', sams amd bens etc, I think they don't sound right with our others, so I think Austin/Orla/Imogen for us.

And it is true, when you say a name you always think of someone else from your school, work, kids nursery/school etc. And while there are 4 graces in dd2s class there is only one dd3 and 2 dd2 in the whole school.

I sound like their names are really whacky but they're not honest

Sixmincepiessoontobeseven · 03/12/2009 15:27

Hi yangy so glad to hear your on the mend.

We did try out dds new name, so that when she gets bigger she can change it if she wants. but we said 'you have to be called that from now on' 'ok' she said. So half an hour ensued of Scarlett your tea - nothing. Scarlett your teas ready - nothing.
Scarlett its bath time - who you talking to she said!! go figure.

I would maybe have called this one scarlett after she put the idea in my head, but she doesn't want us to incase she needs it.

mistletoekisses · 03/12/2009 15:33

Crumpette - Nicolas is one of the ones on our list! Inspired by Saint Nick and all that!

devotion · 03/12/2009 15:54

Nomorebooze, Mummytopebs - welcome aboard

Sixmincepiessoontobeseven - great name!

When i saw your list with arrived at the bottom, made me smile... SO exciting!!!!!!!!!

I am so stuck on girls names, we have two girls and I used my favourites for them. If there is another little girl in there then I want her to have a name just as special... but finding it hard. I am sure i will find one.

I've had my boys name since pregnant with dd in 2002 so no problem with that stories of some nasty peron then know called that so keep it for when they arrive and when you see a baby the name just becomes them.

I think you have a name you like then dont tell anyone as someone you know will always put you off it with st

Hope everyone is having a lovely day, i have just woken from the best sleep after a hard mornings work. Can not beleive how tired I am am. I run my own music and movement group for babies and toddlers but each class is like an aerobic class (mums always say they are out of breath ) - really feeling it with this baby but then again last pregnancy I stopped at 30 weeks and this pregnancy will be 35 weeks. Counting the days!!!!!!!!!

x

Hello, I had forgotten this thread was here!

I am already on the list - due 24th with DS1.

Finished a fixed-term contract on Friday so started my mat leave already... v v bored!

Think we're almost decided on a name, though DH is still campaigning for Kenneth.
