the MW that booked me in said peanuts are ok now....and there's not real evidence that it can do any harm?
I had peanuts at varying points, during my pregnancies, no untoward effects!

feeling fat today

foxyjbro99 · 04/03/2010 17:24

Just off to the shops to get my self a snickers!!

bloominnorah · 04/03/2010 17:42

Well that's my secret out the bag!

DS announced to everyone at toddlers this morning, that I had a baby in my belly and it was going to get bigger and bigger and bigger!

Couldn't very well make DS to be lying so had to confirm pregnancy.

Just aswell I've had a few scans, all looks ok so far.

Congratulations nandos! I have twin boys so can totally understand how you might be feeling just now. Check out the mumsnet multiples threads here - loads of good advice and friendship etc on there from mums of twins and triplets.
Do you know yet if they are sharing a sac / placenta? Either way, expect to have a few more scans and appointments than a singleton pregnancy. It's really natural to feel anxious about it all but I can honestly say that my two are the best thing ever and although it can be bloody hard work at times, I wouldn't change it for the world.

bellabelly · 04/03/2010 18:45

PS Bloominnorah - that is so funny about your ds announcing it - ah, bless, he must be excited!

patito · 04/03/2010 21:39

Hi

Congrats nandos

bloomminnorah at announcement. Have been trying to get DS1 to say where the baby is, hoping he´d be able to tell (his)grandparents, but he just points at himself!

Im pretty sure theres movement now, also wondered at first if it was "gases" though. I cant remember when I first felt movement with DS1 .

Ive started to tell people and am feeling much more into the pregnacy now. Im lucky that my sister was pregnant last summer and still has loads of clothes so am just gonna nick those. My old maternity stuff is no good as DS1 was born in March so wrong seasons.

Any advice on good place to pick up a maternity bikini would be appreciated. (sorry if its been mentioned must have missed it.)

nandos · 04/03/2010 22:11

ty patito and bellabelly ..

bellabelly am nervous of twins cos' had DS1 just 7 mths ago and now am abt 11wks pregnant with No. 2 n 3.
Also am scared of caesarian delivery also too many things going on in my head right now..
dont know too much abt medical terms but from the scan, there is two separate sacs but not sure of placenta?
will check out the twins/multiples thread now..
thank you

bellabelly · 04/03/2010 23:12

nandos - lots of people do have twins without c-section so don't worry too much about that. I had a c-section with mine because they were both breech and because it was what I wanted. Two separate sacs is good news in terms of being lower risk, if i remember rightly. One thing that freaked me out was that multiple pregnancies are automatically classed as "High Risk" which can feel a bit needlessly scary.

Maybe the small age gap between your DS1 and the twins will actually be a good thing - he's likely to feel much closer to them than if he were quite a bit older? Anyway, am sure you will get your head round it all - I just remember feeling a bit overwhelmed to start with!

Tamba is an organisation to support parents of twins - link here - might be worth having a look. I've never got round to joining up myself but there's some useful info on their website - lots of practical advice.

Hello everyone, loving the messages on here they make me chuckle.
Had my scan today and all good feels much more real now.
Been out planting in the garden with my daughter today, gorgeous weather it lifts the spirits after what feels like the longest Winter ever.

HellysBelles · 06/03/2010 08:39

Hi gals, glad things are brighter: sickness starting to fade, sun coming out, not having to sleep quite so much, shopping bargains to be had . It's like coming out of hibernation!

Have scan on Tues, it's been such a long time coming, wasn't going to tell anyone till I'd had it to be sure but ended up blabbing to some friends yesterday! So fingers crossed.

bellabelly · 06/03/2010 10:06

HellysBelles - coming out of hibernation, yes that is exactly how it feels! I have my scan on Tuesday too, feels like I've been waiting forever, like you, I've blabbed to quite a few people - am rubbish at keeping secrets!

Mellymooks, glad your scan went well. Know what you mean about the scan making it all feel real, I am still slightly in denial about this pregnancy now the morning sickness has gone (though my expanding tum tells a different story ). I even did another home preg test the other day, just to be sure...

coppertop · 06/03/2010 16:16

I've just caught up with this thread and now have serious Snickers cravings.

Congratulations on the twins, Nandos.

popsy1 · 07/03/2010 19:43

Hi ladies. I dont post very often, but still read all your posts and follow your progress. I am way behind many of you
I will be 12 weeks this week Got my scan friday morning and then the nuchal friday avo. Feeling very anxious I lost my baby boy last year due to an infection following amnio

Having a real need for something scrummy to eat, not sure what tho!!

Jaysfourth · 07/03/2010 19:57

Popsy1, my scan is this Friday also, soon be our turn for a reality check!!

Sorry about your loss last year hope it all goes well for you on Fri

Nothing much to report, just wanted to check in and say, like others i too am keeping up with goings on, might not post every day ( at the moment!!) but i do read it most days

I still haven't told anyone yet, but on Sat i bought a maternity top, alongside a few other ( reg ) tops. The sales lady asked if i was having a baby, and in the split second it took me to think 'but i cant tell a stranger as i haven't even told my Mum yet' i had said no.....then felt the rest of the day thinking i had put a 'curse' on myself...!! Daft i know

hope everyone is well x

MammyG · 07/03/2010 20:35

Hi all
Congrats nandos and welcome newbies.
Told everyone on friday - Am just he 12 weeks but needed to feel joyful. After all we have been thru a few people even welled up which was really touching and my extended family were the most excited I have seen them over any annoucement.
Anyone else battling low blood pressure? Finding it hard esp at the weekends when I slow down at all i am collapsing. Must get more iron too - the joys!

MudandRoses · 07/03/2010 21:28

Hi all
mammyg glad you are feeling a bit better; and I would def recommend telling people, you get such a buzz from the reactions! EVen bare acquaintances seem really pleased. It's nice.

I had my scan on Friday, and am very pleased to report it's all fine! Saw the heart beating (phew), arms waving, baba stretching out. It has DP's nose tho (much bigger than DS's was on the scan at this stage!) So, not sure if I should be hoping for a girl now!!! my friends and grandma are all confidently predicting a girl due to my 'carrying differently' and feeling iller, but my mum and DP are betting its another boy. I think I am going to find out at the 20wk scan.

MudandRoses · 07/03/2010 21:34

Oh - and peanuts are FINE during pregnancy - the NHS has completely reversed its advice, unfortunately some of the booklets they give out haven't been updated. See this link www.food.gov.uk/safereating/allergyintol/peanutspregnancy

Bring on the Snickers.

Jaysfourth · 07/03/2010 22:14

Hi all- again! Just a quickie. Tried out the Doppler I got on Friday.....managed to find the lil 'uns heartbeat!!!! both me and Dh laying here tapping it out!! I can't remember who spoke about dopets earlier in the thread, but whoever it was thanks
Thing is now I really am wondering if I am further along only (11+2) and beat was quite strong, and am sure I have been feeling movements more. ...

Anyway bedtime! Xx

bananastew · 08/03/2010 08:03

Hi all. haven't posted for a rew days. not much has been happening pregnancy wise. but i have sold my house! It only went on the market on Thurday!!! Put an offer in on one too so waiting with everything crossed to find out if its been accepted!

Jaysfourth It was me with the doppler. I tried at 11 weeks and couldn't hear a thing! 1st heard it at 13 weeks. They say you can hear it from 10 weeks but i think thets quite difficult so you might be further on. Whens your scan??

MammyG Glad your news got that reaction. A little bit of happiness does everyone good even in the saddest times. Something positive to focus on.

Anyway, got to go. will be late for work! Ds has just brought me his shoes. I think its a hint!!

Jaysfourth · 08/03/2010 09:12

morning all!

meant to add a few things last night, but was on my phone and it wasn't happy about how long it took to load all these posts, so i had to forget it! - son be time for a new thread, in time for second trimester!!

MammyG - glad you had a positive reaction to your news, i think most people are happy at the prospect of a new arrival, but i could understand your anxiety. Nice to hear you a bit more positive

Mudandroses - its a great feeling when you have had your scan and seen the your baby waving at you ( well that what i always think!) happy that it all went well

Morning Bananastew, yes of course it was you, sorry my memory is pants! congratulations on the house sale and the offer, hope it goes through for you ok. By all accounts the housing market is starting to pick up now, so you chose a good time! Are you moving far?
My scan is this Friday when i should be 12 weeks...but i am not 100% that my last period was a period, if you know what i mean...anyway scan will tell, just concerned that if i am further on, i wont be in the time frame for relevant tests etc....
It was uber cool though hearing the heartbeat, took me a bit to find where it was, but when i had the place, it was loud and clear

Nandos good news about the twins, i wonder if we will have any more on the thread!!

Boostar re the essentials for Glasto,

Pillow
Toilet rolls
Wet wipes
Wellies
Carrier Bags - for wet or dirty clothes
Earplugs
Paracetamol
Suncream

There are lists and lists on the web of things to take, i would advise not taking anything you are not happy to lose, or get stolen. Not that i have ever had an issue with either, but as a precaution its a wise move!

I am hoping its going to be good weather! Are you and your partner/husband going on your own, or with friends? We are taking our three kids, who will be 4, 3 and 2.......did i ever mention we are mad

Have a good day all x

LadyRabbit · 08/03/2010 11:19

Boostar & Jaysfourth can I add to the essential list big black bin bags for Glasto. They can multi task as raincoat and bedding, never mind for chucking all your rubbish in at the end. My abiding memory of Glastonbury (although my memory is limited....because I was having so much, erm, fun ) is of having our tent robbed but the only thing taken was our bumper stash of baked beans. Go figure. I can't believe you're going to brave Glastonbury while 6 months pregnant. I think you deserve a medal.

MammyG I really hope that sharing the news is allowing you to enjoy everything a bit more now. I bet it's a much needed ray of sunshine in your family right now. Hope it's helping you too.

Starting to feel less like a zombie now, the sickness is starting to abate and the tiredness is just confined to evenings. Getting a tiny wee bump now, so took myself off and bought some stuff in a few sizes up. Is it me, or are maternity clothes in general really dull and frumpy? Do you think I could get away with just buying stuff in larger sizes? Also, does anyone else think that maternity bras are on the whole hideous and scary contraptions? I've just ended up buying normal, non wired super support bras that are still a bit granny-ish but not like 1940s girdles. Eek.

Nuchal testing tomorrow. I feel like I have stuffed my brain full of facts and figures and am a bit scared now. To rationalise, I told myself that the majority of people who post in the antenatal tests/choices threads would be more likely to post there because of concerns rather than good stories. Am I being naive or is this about right? Will I ever stop worrying? (I'm going to be on here worrying when baby's 40 with kids of their own, aren't I?!)

Sorry, it was me that started the Snickers addictions...

They are good though, aren't they? I never liked them before now...

We aren't selling a house but we're looking into buying one - we rent at the moment. I would love to have somewhere of my own, that i was allowed to change/paint/bang nails into. Bliss! I start to have grandiose ideas about putting in an indoors climbing wall and a trapeze. But since we're only looking at tiny terraced houses i may be being optimistic...
