Hub, if you're considerign going the Bupa route for Dee's c-section check how long you're allowed to stay in hospital for. A friend had a c-section and was only covered for a 3 or 4 night stay (can't remember which) and ended up needing more. She had to pay for it. She had a bit of a nasty shock and ended up not staying in for as long as she liked. Don't worry about the baby being early. 37-42 weeks is seen as being normal. You'll be just a few days before that.

Eulalia - I keep having an 'oh my god how am I going to cope with 2 kids' moment so I can well understand how you're feeling with 2. But, friends with 1+ kids keep telling me that the more they are, the more they amuse and entertain each other. See it as an investment for the future! That's what I keep telling myself.

I had loads of BHs the weekend before last but it's all been quiet since. I'm hoping that the baby will come on teh 5th of July which is my Gran's 85th. She hasn't been too well and that would make her so happy. I'll be 38+4 then. So, on Monday 4th I'm having curry, pineapple, buckets full of raspberry tea and demanding my marital rights from dh. Anything else I should do?

MommyD · 28/06/2005 16:32

Wow hub -things are moving fast for you! I hadn't realised - if you elect for a c-sect on health grounds is that still covered under BUPA? I suppose it depends on the package. Does Dee have pre-eclampsia?

ds2 was born at 37+2. Aything after 37 is deemed term. If you go 36+2 you are only a little short of that. GOOD LUCK

hub2dee · 28/06/2005 16:35

Thanks Eulalia / Lolasmum for input. I think she gets 5 nights, which should be OK.

so much to do, so little time.

hub2dee · 28/06/2005 16:40

Yeah, BUPA only cover c/s on medically required grounds, as far as I understand.

MommyD - I think strictly speaking, no, she doesn't have PE, she has PIH, (as asymptomatic and normal bloods / urine)... infact consultant said it was pretty unusual to have the sort of BP issues we are seeing, plus the occasional nausea / vomitting / headachey stuff and NOT by symptomatic for PE)... but (and thank you mears for your advice / support) PE can range from mild to severe and onset can be at any time, even in labour or after delivery for example, plus it can suddenly 'superimpose' itself on PIH so to speak, so I think for all these reasons c/s is suggested route.

mrsdarcy · 28/06/2005 19:17

Haven't caught up with all the posts yet, but I've just got back from my last hospital ante natal appointment, and the baby's head is still a normal size so we're ok for a natural delivery. It's still head down and dipping in and out of my pelvis (which feels rather odd). The consultant couldn't see inside the baby's head because of the position, so we don't know how the ventriculomegaly is - I'm quite glad really as there is nothing at all we can do about it.

She's also written a fab letter to the ward manager saying she wants me in my own room for induction (otherwise you are in a 4-bed suite) and post-natally as well! . I will get the princess treatment!

Thank goodness no more hospital visits whilst hugely pregnant! I have had enough of them for a lifetime! They all know me well enough there now to make comments about my ludicrously-shaped bump and my moon-face!!

pinkmama · 28/06/2005 20:23

Wow hub2dee, sounds like its all go for you. Hope dee not feeling too ill. Send her best wishes. As for cot mattresses, I have just ordered my crib mattress from an internet site and can highly recommend them as being cheap, good quality and very efficient. My order came within 36 hours. It www.icbaby.com. We seem to have an odd shape crib and mothercare dont do our size. Worth looking at.

Well, heard from Hoxtonchick this afternoon who is underway, but it was going slowly. Not heard from her since about 4ish so hopefully all is progressing well and a little faster for her.

WOnder how Pandagirl is doing?

MrsDarcy, you deserve all the princess treatment you can get!

AussieSim · 29/06/2005 02:59

I started having some contractions and thought my waters may have broken at 8.30 last night and called the hospital and they asked me to come in. I got home at midnight having been told that I was still intact and that my cervix was not ripe. The Dr that saw me was a shocker and I was in agony during the internal. My waters broke at 3am this morning - now nearly 9 hours ago and I am waiting at home for the contractions to get regular and truly painful apparently. My Dr says if I haven't progressed by tomorrow breakfast than he will get me in to be induced, as it will have been quite a while since waters broke. Last night as I headed to the hospital I was excited and a bit anxious and now I just feel irritable and annoyed with everyone and everything. Just as well I am home alone.

darwin · 29/06/2005 03:02

oh good luck with it all, a hard journey ahead but def worth it in the end! its my bithday today as well as hopefully your babys x

mrsdarcy · 29/06/2005 03:44

kid · 29/06/2005 07:07

I heard from Hoxtonchick, she is a mummy again!
Don't know all the details plus I am sure she will want to tell them to you once she is back online.

Her baby girl was born at 3:25am and they are all ecstatic

mrsdarcy · 29/06/2005 08:06

Thanks for letting us know Kid. Send her our love and congratulations

hub2dee · 29/06/2005 08:09

Congrats to HC and good luck AussieSim. Wonder how Panda is..... Enjoy your shopping Hub!

pinkmama · 29/06/2005 09:56

Good luck AussieSim X

Congratulations HC, had a really good cry when text came through this morning. DD and DH thought something was wrong, then thought I was bit insane I think when I told them it was all happy news. Cant beleive we are starting to pop, makes it all very very real. Might have to accept its not just too many cakes!

OzJo · 29/06/2005 10:04

Oh my God, people giving birth!!!
Good luck Aussiesim, really won't be long now...Huge congrats to HC....Hope all is well for pandagirl.
Mrs Darcy, go for it on the Princess front, but bear in mind there needs to be a single room free to get one. Good to know you're a priority to get one though!
Lolasmum, I'm with you,re, panicking about having 2! I read somewhere that's it's amazing how much your 2nd child thrives on half the attention that your first gets, which was reassuring.
Hub, you're going to be a fab dad, you're so into it already and haven't even met the wee babe yet, excited for you.
I'm officially on my due date, so no chance of anything happening today. Friday would be perfect, Dp has 3 weeks off from then, and Dd will be in childcare.....so it won't happen then either. I've shown Dp how to log on here so he can let you know how it goes.....excited and nervous now.

Eulalia · 29/06/2005 10:21

Good luck Aussiesim!

And congrats to Hoxtonchick! and Pandagirl??

Harriett · 29/06/2005 10:53

What fantastic news about Hoxtonchick's little girl! I went past the hospital she's in yesterday and thought about her. Hope panda has equally great news- can't wait to hear!
and good luck AussieSim, will be keeping a look out on birth announcements!
This is so exciting that things are finally happening for us!
My maternity leave is offically boring and although people are telling me to enjoy the time I have left and get manicures etc, I really can't be bothered to get off my fat ass and do anything apart from buy CD's from amazon and email my friends! I feel so lazy but am too lazy to do anything about it.

Bagpuss30 · 29/06/2005 11:06

Congratulations HC .

Good luck AussieSim .

Mrsd, glad all's well with your baby and well done for getting the treatment you deserve. Not sure what I'm doing yet about rooms as it will depend on how long I need to stay I suppose.

No news here. Feeling very huge and lumbering now. I have just pumped up the wheels on my pram in sheer desperation that it may be needed very soon. Now off to browse the net in the hope that some retail therapy may encourage the sprog to appear.
