Rob, You need to email [email protected] to post media requests.

merryberry · 27/06/2005 15:54

They posted on BabyCentre.co.uk over a week ago as well, Paul McKenna's crew. Just an observation from a bored and sofa bound laydee.

Lolasmum · 27/06/2005 15:57

I would be interested if it meant I didn't feel any pain. I would hate to be on TV though.

Bagpuss30 · 27/06/2005 17:26

Pamina, great news about the baby being head down - I was wondering where you'd got to!

Hub, good news also about Dee. Fingers crossed for having her home very soon.

Aussiesim, I have also been eating pinapple (though I haven't tried any other home remedies yet ). Nothing happenig as far as I can see - might be time to break out the raspberry leaf tea!

Lolasmum, hope your week at work goes nice and quickly!

Must dash, dd needs feeding and dh has taken ds to a birthday party so I'm off to make use of the time!

Me posterior has spread a lot with all this PG sitting around:-)

Mmmm, I know what you mean about appearing on TV while giving birth. They'd be lucky to fit more than half a buttock of mine at a time on a TV screen at the moment.

Has reality TV got that desperate yet?

hub2dee · 27/06/2005 22:30

Evenin' all.

DW is back in my arms !

... and presently curled up in bed. She's doing well, BP lowered. Dosage tweaked. Also saw private consultant. Likely C/S at 37 weeks. (We're 34+6 today). He said he would ordinarily look at a 36 week C/S but as Dee's bloods and urine have been so normal, we could probably hold out a little longer, and I hope that at around 36+4/5/6 we can see if we can run an extra few days, maybe even a week so baby is even more mature, but obviously dw's health and BP will determine if this is even feasible.

Thanks again for the well wishes. 2 weeks to get my act together. Crikey !!!!!!!

LOL

latearrival · 28/06/2005 00:46

Good morning everyone. We've been doing some serious clearing out of cupboards - very satisfying but means getting to the computer is now a bit of an assault course. Hoping for another thunder storm here in the west country - and I usually love summer. Hope everyone continues to do well.

Mrs Darcy - as ds was born at 38 +4 and this bump feels so low I cannot believe I will make it to 40 weeks - I have been thinking the baby will arrive around 14th for some time so may be close to you in dates after all.

Good luck again to Hoxtonchick for today.

Lolasmum · 28/06/2005 08:11

Glad Dee is back home Hub.

Hi hub - looks like we might be at Royal Free at same time. My date (38 wks) is 2 weeks today! May c d on postnatal!

I have been getting loads of BH, nasty pains, and I am sure some proper contractions. I may not make it to 38 weeks!

MommyD · 28/06/2005 09:30

hub - is the c-sect definite for dee?

Bagpuss30 · 28/06/2005 10:12

Great news hub .

Blimey MommyD, hope the pains are not too bad and fingers crossed that you do make it to 38 weeks!

I'm sooooooo fed up now - not with the heat etc, but with the way everyone keeps going on at me about how I'm still pg and how long have I got to go. It ocurred to me the other day that I might actually still be pg in 2 weeks time when ds breaks up from pre-school. What will people be saying to me then and how on earth will I be able to walk when I can barely walk into the nursery and back to the car now .

Wonder how HC and Panda are doing? Hope to hear some good news soon.

OMG - our baby is coming sooner than we think !!!!

I'm certainly not very ready !!!

Dee had high BP again last night, just before her meds were due, and because we had seen the consultant privately that day I had his pager number etc. As she was asymptomatic for pre-eclampsia, he said we could sleep at home but to see him at 9 this morning. I'm sure he loved me at half eleven last night.

He's suggesting a C / S at week 37. Just had an e-mail with Thursday 7th July as a suggested date.

We've asked about trial of labour, waiting longer etc. but I think the BP swings (and possible escalation to unsafe levels in labour) mean he would rather deliver soon rather than later, and through c/s. I trust his call - and more importantly, so does Dee.

I've just run from the hossie to Tesco and bought 'newborn' dispies (darn - had hoped for cloth but that can wait a while !), 'early baby' sleep suits and bodysuits, some cotton wool, and sudocrem.

Can you tell I'm in shock ???? LOL

I haven't even got a flipping cot ! (We're borrowing from a friend - will hassle them this afternoon).

MommyD - not sure if we're going to be at the Royal Free or the Portland now - the consultant has admitting priviledges at both. dw has BUPA (I don't - think it's a rip off !) but I'm going to try and find out about the neonatal intensive care facilities at both (and learn about the likelihood of needing them - 37+2 isn't that premature... but I know precious litle about babies and even less about healthcare requirements for babies born early... might have a zip through the MN archives !!!

We are very priviledged to have the choice and the insurance to help Dee out. We are also very lucky that bloods / urine / symptoms look good and that growth for dates looks good too.

OMG. I might be a daddy next week.

hub2dee · 28/06/2005 14:56

Sorry. In my (slight) panic, my dates are wrong. Next Thursday Dee is 36+2.

Harriett · 28/06/2005 15:03

Blimey hub! But good that you are now beginning to sound more like my dh who is in a state of mild to moderate panic now- you did sound far too in control before now!
It must be so exciting that baby is nearly here and you sound like you are in very good hands with your consultant. I hope dw is ok too.

I have been having crazy dreams the past few nights that I am going to go into labour during Live8 (I'm not going, I'm not that silly!) but will be watching it on tv probably. This is probably wishful thinking as I would love her to come as soon as poss!

Bagpuss30 · 28/06/2005 15:05

Aww, hub, calm down, you've got a week to go yet .

Seriously, I'm sure it will all be fine. A friend of mine had twins at 35 weeks and neither of them needed any special care at all and were home within the week.

Also, might be an idea to think about a moses basket or similar for your dd as the cot will seem huge with a tiny baby in it - try and borrow rather than buy as they don't last that long.

Gosh, can't believe some of us are going to be on a post natal thread soon .

LOL @ MN other halves finally starting to go ape !!!!

hub2dee · 28/06/2005 15:06

LOL, Bagpuss !

Sorry, I meant a crib. Some friends have a wooden one which rocks. I just need to hit John Lewis for a mattress.

A baby bean !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bagpuss30 · 28/06/2005 15:07

Hi Harriett, posts crossed!

DH has forbidden me to go into labour during Live8, so you can keep those thoughts to yourself .

How's the Mat leave?

Bagpuss30 · 28/06/2005 15:10

Hi Hub

Suggest you also look at Mothercare for a mattress as their Coolmax ones are excellent for cribs and baskets - I was really pleased with ours, especially as the top bit can be machine washed and tumbled - great for nightime accidents.

hub2dee · 28/06/2005 15:13

Sounds good. Mothercare Brent Cross is my hot date for tomorrow.

Eulalia · 28/06/2005 15:19

hub - glad to hear that you will be a daddy sooner but can understand your panic. Don't worry 36 weeks the baby will be fine. Strictly speaking before 37 weeks is premature so you aren't far off. Likewise my friend had twins at 36 weeks and they were both 6 1/2 half pounds!! Even bigger than my first child.

As for a cot, you don't need one the first 3 months. Baby can sleep in a moses basket/carrycot or even a drawer. In fact something small like that is probably better.

Pamina -glad to hear your daughter is better now.

Well I had another "oh my god how am I going to cope with 3 kids" moment this morning. Tears in the car just before school and then later dd threw a massive wobbly in Mothercare - lying on the floor screetching etc because she wanted new pink wellies.... sigh... then I forgot to buy everything and had to go to Boots.

The joys!

Eulalia · 28/06/2005 15:26

ds has lost 2 of his front teeth and this seems to have triggered a don't want to eat fruit/veg thing with him. Because of his autism I have to be careful that this doesn't become permanent. It was a nightmare yesterday to get him to eat carrot and then finally some sweetcorn. Just about to try some peas just now. I don't need this extra hassle with a baby on the way sorry moan over I promise!

Can't believe that there are babies on the way so soon!!
