Sorry to crash your thread have just poped in from the due September on to enquire if anyone knows how whimsey is? Have been trying to contact her today to no avail!

pinkmama · 30/06/2005 21:12

Spoke to HC earlier. She sounded very well and I could hear those lovely snuffly baby noises! She is home now and no doubt will be posting on here before we know it.

ronniebaby · 30/06/2005 21:26

Whimsy had her baby today by C-Section, but won't spoil her big news.

Big Congrats Whimsy, luv & hugs xxxx

gwenynbee · 01/07/2005 00:36

Hello there July ladies - I've defected briefly to say hello to you all from the "Junies" - thank you for your warm welcome Mrs Darcy. I think I answered your thread re: ventriculomegaly a few months back, but wasn't too sure if you read it or not.

I am now 40wks and 6 days (having a ds!) - tried everything in the book, clary sage, r l tea, pineapple, vindaloos, "it", etc etc and nothing has seemed to work! Don't fancy castor oil and orange juice though! Even had a membrane sweep yesterday which failed! Never mind booked in to be induced next Tuesday, at have resigned myself that I'll now be having a little July baby!

Good luck and best wishes to you all

OzJo · 01/07/2005 01:51

Congratulations Pandagirl! You're home fast, nothing like your own bed! And congrats to AussieSim, glad your wee mite hung on in there till the inconsiderate Dr returned from his hols.
Welcome Gwenybee...I'm 40 + 2 today, they'll induce this time next week if nothing has occured, so it's good to know it won't go past a certain date. Do you have other kids/ know what you're having...
Harriet, mine's a boy...and the odd pressure you describe sounds v. familiar, and mine's partially engaged, so I think evey now and then they snuggle down and bugger me it hurts! Poor old cervix.
Pinkmama, could be your ligaments are stretching. I got really intense pain round that area, and I'm pretty sure it wasn't BH as they affect your whole womb, the ones I got felt like v strong wind pain, but lower down...then I got some lovely stretch marks!!!! Very pretty purple sea anenomea type paterns on the lower belly.
Hey Ho, best go forth for a snooze, dd in childcare, childfree house! Won't get that again for a few years...

mogwai · 01/07/2005 01:54

I'm crashing your thread to say hello. My June baby officially turned into a July baby almost two hours ago.

I might even be in the early stages of labour (I think I am, but have had almost a week of "false labour" leading to too much "false hope"), so perhaps I'll be the first??

hoxtonchick · 01/07/2005 02:56

i am here! florence is asleep on my knee & i need sleep so will post properly tomorrow, but she's gorgeous, ds says she's cute & i had a great birth. lots of love to you all. xxx

mrsdarcy · 01/07/2005 03:09

CONGRATULATIONS HC! Florence is a gorgeous name. I'm so glad the birth went well - very encouraging for us fellow inductees. Let us know all about it when you feel up to it.

Congratulations to Whimsy. Looking forward to hearing about your baby.

Hi Mogwai and Gwnenynbee - welcome to July! Gwnenynbee - I saw your post relatively recently and replied on one of the other threads, but not sure if you saw it. Thank you and fingers crossed for you.

lovinit · 01/07/2005 03:30

Dear All,

It has been a seriously long time since I last wrote or participated on the thread . I was busy with DD and getting ready and endless errands and paperwork to complete.

Anyways, congrats so far to all the new Mums.

I also gave birth to a second beautiful daughter on 26th June at 4:16am after 3.5 labour , no pain relief, lots of pain as she was posterior but extremely happy with the new arrival, who was 2.5 weeks early !

DD1 is Daisy and DD2 is Violet !

For all you other Mums waiting, be patient as it is soooo exciting when it does happen !

Also, just a point I really wanted to make, having no epidural made the pushing soooo much quicker that the pain is worth it, especially now since it is forgotten after 5 days !

Good luck to everyone, and see you all in the other threads in the future !

hub2dee · 01/07/2005 08:03

Welcome all Junies !

Good luck !

pinkmama · 01/07/2005 09:30

Hello Junies! Hope its not too much longer for you!

Lovinit - congratulations. Love the name Violet - in fact its what we plan to call ours if its a dd!

OzJo, that does indeed sound like my pain. Hmmm, look forward to adding to my stretchmarks then!

Bagpuss30 · 01/07/2005 09:34

Morning all! I'm officially 40 weeks today!

HC, what a lovely name, welcome back and I can't wait to hear all the details.

Congratulations Lovinit and Whimsy .

Welcome all Junies - let's hope you don't have much longer to wait.

I can't find the link to the about us thread, too nauseous to concentrate

could someone else post it for the june people to go see/add to? xx

Harriett · 01/07/2005 10:56

Good morning everyone! and welcome Junies!
Lovely to hear from you HC and welcome to little Florence- what a beautiful name.
I am feeling strangely full of beans today, full of energy and better than I have done in weeks. I even got up early and made dh breakfast and a lunch box- he thinks it's Christmas! I have more urges to clean windows/ scrub floors etc but I am going to put this all to much better use and go shopping. Hope you all have a good day too.

Lolasmum · 01/07/2005 11:51

Congratulations HC, Whimsy and Panda! Any news from Aussiesim yet??

Hello Mogwai and Gwnenynbee - welcome to the July thread. I'm sure this is 1 thread you were hoping not to contribute too!

It's my last day at work today (yippee!) and I'm 38 weeks today. Hopefully it will come soon. I've been having loads of BHs (didn't with first pregnancy) and can feel so much pressure on my cervix. The hourly wees are getting boring. Especially during the night. If I hadn't put on so much weight on my bottom I think I would have borrowed dds potty!

Lua · 01/07/2005 14:24

Hi there, a quck thread crashing to wish goodluck to all the "ladies in waiting". I also wanted to say special congrats to hoxtonchick - glad it all went well!

Eulalia · 01/07/2005 14:34

Congratulations Hoxtonchick - glad it all went smoothly

And congratulations lovinit

back later .....

hoxtonchick · 01/07/2005 16:31

time to perfect my 1 handed typing whilst feeding dd(!).... thought i'd put the gory birth details here. i went in for induction on tuesday morning. they messed around a bit, as i had a bit of a temperature & they wanted to monitor dd. i had prostin gel at 12:30 which did absoutely nothing. and we had to wait 6 hours to find that out... still, at least we could walk around, drink coffee & send text messages.... i was only 2 cm dilated when checked at 7, but that was enough to break my waters. this started the contractions pretty quickly. painful, but i managed without anything. but i still wasn't contracing enough so needed a synotocin drip. and an epidural! it was a much better epidural than when i had ds, 3.5 years ago, as it totally stopped the pain but i could still feel when the contractions were. that went it at about 10:30, & i was fully dilated by 2am. very happy! and 'cos of the epidural i was really relaxed & had even dozed off a bit. they left me another hour so she could drop down a bit lower, then i started to push at 3:10 & she popped out at 3:25. it was amazing. ds was a ventouse & forceps delivery, & the difference was enormous. i am so proud of myself! watching dp's face as i delivered her was brilliant. the midwife was trying to slow dd down so she didn't come out too quickly. i tore a little, but nothing major at all.

dp went home quite soon after that, and the midwife stitched me & generally kept an eye on me. i lost quite a lot of blood when the placenta was delivered, & subsequently - so much that it actually counted as a haemorrhage. a bit later they noticed i still had lots of internal clots, so i got punched repeatedly in the tummy with only gas & air for company (which does nothing for me). nice. dd's blood sugars were a bit low so she had to have some formula, despite loads of breastfeeding. she had about 100 ml altogether, from a cup so no nipple confusion.

i stayed in the delivery suite 'til lunchtime, then transferred to the ward. we stayed in for 24 hours afte that, then beat a hasty retreat home. the midwife came today, & she's lost about 250g, which is ok. really need my milk to come in though! she's a really enthusiastic feeder, on the boob for up to an hour at a time. i'm not particularly sore either.

gosh this is an essay.

congratulations to pandagirl, lovinit & whimsy.

merryberry · 01/07/2005 16:53

magic HC congratulations. it sounds so cool you could watch his reaction during the birth. not so cool the stomach punching...is there no end to the possible joys of childbirth??? ay me,

lots of love, franky, still waiting, and no resisting BB at all well.

gwenynbee · 01/07/2005 23:40

Thank you for the warmest welcome July ladies!! Will be 41 weeks tomorrow!! Thought it was going to happen earlier today...but it soon passed!

To answer some of your questions ladies, I am expecting a much wanted and needed little boy. Ds1 was born asleep at 24 weeks last year, so this pregnancy has been extra special (and very anxious!) but on a positive note everything so far has been relatively "easy", and I have had the best medical care anyone could wish for.
Been blessed with a second chance at motherhood, hence why I am getting so impatient - I can't wait to have my little man in my arms, and am well up for endless sleepless nights and the filthiest of nappies! Out of 77 weeks I have been pregnant for 65 of them, so I suppose another few days isn't going to make much difference!

Good luck and regards to you all

hub2dee · 02/07/2005 10:10

Mornin' all.

Things are moving ahead for us. Fast. DW has a c-section booked next Wednesday at 4:30. Yikes. Baby will be 36+1. Consultant has estimated a wee 5 pound baby. A visit to the SCBU might well be needed but we hope not. Growth is tailing off from last week, reduced amniotic fluid, placenta becoming much less efficient etc. so now is the right time. One great sign is that blood flow through baby's middle cerebral artery (?) is bang on normal, so her brain is getting what it needs.

DW is secretly delighted BUPA will cover birth at the Portland so she'll get her own room and I can stay the night which will be amazing. We're very lucky, but I do hope any emergency / neonatal intensive care is as good as the NHS. It will be an interesting experience.

Congrats HC. Glad the little one is a greedy feeder ! Hope you feel good in yourself despite the blood loss. Am sure you will be out and about in no time.

gwenynbee - that's a lot of time thinking about, and being, pg, hey. Hope you are soon breathing a bif fat sigh of relief with an enormous grin !

mrsdarcy · 02/07/2005 17:05

Goodness Hub, things are moving qickly! Good luck next week and I hope the baby doesn't have to go to SCBU. The Portland is lovely, with kindly nurses in pink who treat you like a customer .

FWIW, I was a mere 4lb 13oz and am now a strapping lass, so in my family a 5lb-er is nothing to sniff at!

Eulalia · 02/07/2005 18:19

Thanks for the birth story hoxtonchick - you sound really happy

Welcome gwenynbee - I was 42+1 with dd so know how you are feeling. Hope babe comes soon

I am 36 weeks today and feeling fine.

hub2dee · 02/07/2005 18:33

Glad a 5 lber can turn into a fine filly. Thanks mrsd. Hope your outcome is also v. good. XX

If anyone is interested in fabric / wallpaper prints, there's a Designers Guild sale on in Kings Road, London and also in their warehouse. I just bought some really short lengths of material (like 0.3m etc.) to get some nice repeats of some of their pinky/purple/red flowers for use in the baby's room.

Lolasmum · 02/07/2005 19:10

HC you sound so cheerful considering you've been punched in the tummy! Congratulations again and well done for pushing her out so quickly! 15 minutes sounds amazing. I was pushing for 3 hours with dd.

Hub2dee, best wishes for next.

Qwenynebee - I will stop moaning about having been pregnant for 38 weeks! I'm sure you're time will be any minute now.
