OK everyone, here it is. Who will be first to post their announcement I wonder?

Hi everyone, sorry about moaning yesterday , 2 lovely friends drove me around, so no walk to school, and fed me unhealthy food, then dh brought me some lovely icecream and I felt a bit better, especially following the thunder storm. I dont feel so bad now its the weekend and dh is around.

I was laughing at the no sex bit, because I quite frankly cant get enough, and find my physical limitations somewhat annoying, my mind is very much willing but body does not always follow! Much more so than when not pregnant, and I know for a fact once baby is here I wont fancy it for a very very long long time! Surely its not just me is it?

hoxtonchick · 25/06/2005 13:38

you know it's just you, pm, i've been telling you this all along!

Actually, I had a spell recently when I was practically humping lanpposts, but whenever DH was around the urge had gone, much to his relief! This is probably way too gross, but I'm also not sure of the etiquette if you are due to have a VE (eg for a sweep or induction). How soon should one abstain beforehand so as not to disgust the midwife? Although it might be a suitable revenge for the one who called my bump "pendulous"! I am also planning to pee on her hand........
Lizzie Bennett would not approve of me borrowing her name if I'm going to write such unladylike posts! I'll crawl away in shame if I ever re-read this when my hormones have settled down!

Eulalia · 25/06/2005 18:42

Hoxtonchick - you'll be fine... 2nd labours are nearly always quicker. Just try and get plenty rest before then ...blah blah I am sure you've been given all the good advice.

Harriet - our cat is low down on priorities. Rencently I have actually opened a tin and just given it to him just like that for him to scrape out with his paw poor thing ...

Went swimming today and even managed to fool around with ds in the water. ds is being really sweet and likes to stroke my bump. He definately wants a sister but I think that's just becasue he has one already.. I think dd is going to take badly to the baby though.

hub2dee · 25/06/2005 19:48

Hello ladies, long time no speak.

Honestly, I haven't read anything about leaky nipples or shagging, so you can all continue to post intimate details.

I've been rather quiet recently as it's felt like we've been living at the hospital. Sooooo many antenatal checks and CTG traces and bloods and blood pressure tests as dw has developed high blood pressure, or if I don my nurse's outfit, Pregnancy Induced Hypertension. We're all keeping a close eye on any pre-eclamptic warning signs. We had antenatal clinic all Friday AM and then admitted ourselves late evening as dw was vomitting for England and had a face a bit like an Orangutan - you know, with those comedy 'side ears'. Poor Dee.

I got home at 2 or 3 in the morning, and was back there all day today. The labour ward is routinely fantastic, and the observations / visits on the postnatal ward are routinely erm... less fantastic. They discharged her though, so we're back home and off for an early night now.

They're now contemplating inductions, emergency c/s etc. etc. but it all depends on how she does day by day really. I'll let you all know if there's news either way.

merryberry / MommyD - you two must live near me because of your visits to the Heath and the Royal Free respectively. I was going to see if you wanted to come and sit in a cool room the other week when things were really hot as we have an air con unit, but we were tied up keeping Camden's parking meters full with change at the hospital.

I'm behind in all the nursery equipment / baby room stuff too, but hope to make good inroads this coming week.

Hope you're all feeling tolerably OK. I can't imagine doing all this with a toddler (or several) to look after.

(famous last words).

OMG - hossie just phoned - I dropped my wallet in the ward... must be male pg brain.... another visit to the hossie !!!!

Laters ladies.

merryberry · 25/06/2005 20:28

Oh dear poor H2D, you are keeping your chin well up during a tough time mate! Tell Dee we're wishing her well...and don't you worry about my heat levels

hub2dee · 25/06/2005 20:45

mb - If August goes stupid hot, we can all put the babies in the 'cool room' and avoid febrile convulsions.

If July Thread does a meetup, which doesn't involve toe nails, I'll put my head in for desert or whatever to say hi.

Night Night.

pinkmama · 26/06/2005 07:44

h2d, sounds like you and dee having tough time. Will keep fingers crossed for you.

I dont know how it is where everyone else is, but its much cooler here. I managed to concentrate for hours on my work yesterday so have made great in roads into the outstanding pile I have to finish this week. I so want to stop now I am going to make every effort to work flat out ot get it done and hten I can just flop!

Going to get baby clothes down from the attic today and give them all a wash. I know I will have a cry!

hub2dee · 26/06/2005 08:03

Hiya pm, it's been a bit, ahem, 'eventful' for our liking, but our care has been good - but the pushing / chasing is exhausted and not something I enjoy doing tbh. Hope you have a good sob with all your baby clothes !

Typo in my post below: Was not proposing a meet up in the sahara, but maybe joining a table of mumsnetters for dessert. Woops.

Bagpuss30 · 26/06/2005 08:29

Hi everyone. Sorry to hear about the rotten time that some of you are having and I really hope it improves soon - remember not long to go now and it will all be worth it (we hope!) .

I had my own visit to the labour ward on Thursday night when I thought that I had gone into labour. Contractions coming every 5-7 mins etc which was quite scary, bearing in mind my last labour only lasted about 3 hours. Turned out to be a complete false alarm though but MW performed an internal just to be sure which ended up hurting far more than the contractions . My cervix is no where on the way to labour so I guess I'll be around for a bit longer yet. Also had a scare about baby's position (again) so they also got the portable and ancient scanner out to check. Fortunately still head down though .

Had antenatal clinic on Friday and now I'm just waiting until I have my last appointment with my consultant on 4th July when I will be overdue (if I make it). It all feels so final now and a bit odd.

Hoxtonchick, just wanted to wish you good luck for next week - 2nd labours are way easier than first ones IME.

Not sure I should let dh read the posts about sex on here - he may get ideas. I take my hat off to any of you with the inclination - I'm just too tired and need all my strength in case I go in to labour .

MommyD · 26/06/2005 10:44

I'm 36 weeks tomorrow and don't think I am going to reach 38 when my section happens. Tightenings all day, every day, which are really uncomfortable. Sure I didn't have this with ds1 and ds2. Went into labour at 38 weeks with ds1 and 37 weeks with ds2 - why shouldn't no.3 come along at 36 weeks???
Feeling daunted at coping with three of three and under- expecially as my two little lads fight all day long.
Good Luck pinkmama and hoxton for tues!!!

hub2dee · 26/06/2005 18:00

Hi all, back to hossie for us. BP is still too high. Expect they'll keep dw in overnight at least and tweak her anti-hypertensive dose. Probably will see the baby earlier than 2nd August (by scan), so I'm glad I'm on the July thread after all.

I'll post in a day or two with any news.

mrsdarcy · 26/06/2005 18:24

Good luck tomorrow Pandagirl! I'll be thinking of you. Let us know how things go - you will be the wise woman of the July thread!
lots of love

Hope you're feeling OK about Tuesday HC. Also hope your DS is feeling better.

Poor Dee, Hub. You must be pretty sick of all this by now.

I went to the school summer fair and lost count of how many people said "ooh, must be due any minute, isn't it low...". It LOOKS low but isn't engaged, and I am still up half the night with heartburn....

I confess to eating a large bowl of fresh pineapple yesterday and to breaking the drought with DH. My Dr is now back on board, so am going into full gear as I was 39 weeks yesterday. I went to the acupuncturist on the weekend to try to see if he could persuade bub to spin into an anterior position, but no movement on that front yet. I have another appointment for Thursday to see if he can give me a bit of hurry up before the Dr starts talking induction.

hoxtonchick · 27/06/2005 02:29

nice to 'see' you pamina, i'd noticed you hadn't been around for a while. isn't maternity leave lovely?

hope dw feels better soon h2d.

and thanks to all for reassuring me that second labours are easier - i sooo want to believe you're right!

respect, mrsd, for going to the school fete. i have been like a beached whale all weekend, despite the cooler weather. dp has been doing everything whilst i delegate. my parents came down tonight, & friends have bought moses basket/car seat round, so we're slowly getting ready.

ds is much much better though i think i'll keep him off nursery tomorrow, just to be safe, & grandma & grandpa can entertain him. i was getting dressed today when he bounced up & said "mummy, i don't think that top will fit you." . this was following last week's comment, when i slipped down 2 steps of "poor mummy, that's why we wear shoes you know." so he does listen, after all!

right, should go back to bed really. am only up as blood sugar went low & i needed snacks. won't have that excuse for much longer....

lots & lots of luck for today, pandagirl, i'll be thinking of you.

OzJo · 27/06/2005 07:13

Goodluck Pandagirl, not long HC, and much sympathy Hub2Dee...my episodes of anxiety re labour are giving way to more impatience to get it over and done with. Had an antenatal appt today, and saw a REALLY nice Dr...what a difference! She was so reasuring, said I probably didn't get very far last time because of the babys position, and it looked like my hips would cope with a VBAC, and the baby is probably around the 3.8kg mark, ( same as dd ), got another appt for next monday, and if nothing happens they'll have a go at inducing me the following Friday..(8th july)..I really don't think it'll come to that, having lots of twinges at the moment, but nothing worrying. The Dr was good about when to go in as well, ie straight away if my waters break, and once my contactions get to 5 mins apart otherwise, said they would rather I was in sooner rather than later having had the C section last time. Plus the people we have to look after Dd are back from Melbourne, so I can relax on that front.
Bloody Hell, all getting a bit real ( starting to sound like Dr Phil)...I'm feeling virtuous as I have just made a few mini lasagnes to freeze for after the event.
Good luck again Pandagirl, I'm off to eat lots of fresh pineapple.

Harriett · 27/06/2005 08:53

just wanted to wish Pandagirl and HC good luck for this week, I'll be thinking of you both and hope to hear all about it soon!
lots of love

Lolasmum · 27/06/2005 10:11

Good luck Pandagirl for today and HC for tomorrow!

Hub2dee, I'm glad you've posted as your silence was starting to worry me! Sympathies to you and Dee.

Pinkmamma - I have to confess to sharing your 'cravings' . Got to make the most of it while you can!

Last week at work for me!!! Hurrah. Not feeling very motivated so expect to see a lot more of me on MN.

hub2dee · 27/06/2005 10:55

Looking good this Am - bp nice. She's in for another day or two for obs. All bloodwork and urine routinely good so that's nice.

OK. Late for run to hossie. Catch you all later and thank you for the 'thinking of you' / best wishes.

X

Eulalia · 27/06/2005 12:43

hub2dee - sorry to hear things have been difficult with you. Hopefully the next two weeks may be easier. You've got to stay around and keep me company - still got just under 5 weeks to go.

Good luck Pandagirl - can't wait to see the announcement. And also hoxtonchick for Tuesday

Bagpuss - sorry to hear about your scare. Let's hope baby does come on its own eventually.

Got to go now as its ds's sports day and need to give dd her lunch. It's a lovely sunny day and a pleasant 21C with a light breeze here. Ooops apologies to all you hot southerners!

Eulalia · 27/06/2005 12:44

Sorry meant to say 'next few weeks'.

Hi Pamina,
yes, I have experienced feeling awful after a bath, maybe it's natures' way of telling us that we should stay in longer and keep topping up the hot water?
How's your little one, btw? fully recovered I hope?

I have been feeling really strange at night recently, I have thrown up a few times, have stomach pains and feel like I have to lean over and hold onto something. I wonder if this is a Braxton Hicks? any thoughts?
