Congrats panda - wow- how long were you in for??? I have stayed in 5 and 4 days after my sections - would MUCH rather go home. When was the panda cub born?
Congrats HC!!

I am just ONE BIG BRAXTON HICKS at the moment
Only 36+2, but less than 2 weeks to my section now. Wonder if I'll make it?
Good luck all!!
Getting really excited at the thought of three little ones in our family soon !

merryberry · 29/06/2005 17:40

Well done Pandagirl and welcome to little Chloe!

Congratulations to you and your family! Can't believe you are at home already! How wonderful.

Hope you rest up after your c section and get lots of looking after. xx

Hub - this ia a very boring point but if it is of some benefit to you and Dee...

We moved house when I was expecting DS2 and had to change our life insurance policy. They wouldn't cover me until the pregnancy was over. The same happened this time (we seem to move house at bad times!). The reasons given in both cases were medically crazy: pregnancy induced hypertension - with DS1 my BP went up at 41 weeks and I was induced 3 days later!; protein in my urine - again at 41 wks with DS1 and it had gone by the time they tested again a few hours later, never to return; and anaemia - although my Hb never went below 9. This time I can't be considered for cover until 6 weeks after delivery.

As soon as I had delivered DS2 they were happy to cover me, and I am hoping it will be the same this time. It's so silly as of course I could get pregnant again straightaway and they would be stuck with me, with the same "risks".

It means we're hanging onto older policies which don't necessarily give us the cover we want but are better than nothing in the short term.

I just thought it would be worth mentioning that keeping up existing cover at guaranteed premiums can be well worth it once you have things in your medical history that tend send their little hearts a-flutter.

Sorry for the incredibly dull post everyone. The next exciting installment.... annuity rates!

hub2dee · 29/06/2005 21:37

Thanks mrsd... will keep an eye on the policy !

Dee doing well today. Great BP readings, no enduring / significant headaches... good signs ! Hope the new med mix keeps her ticking along nicely !

latearrival · 29/06/2005 23:25

Congratulations to Hoxtonchick and Pandagirl. Hope you are getting some rest and enjoy these precious first days.

We decided this time not to ask if we're having a boy or girl. In the last week I've suddenly felt it will be a girl - no idea why but am getting impatient to find out. Will be happy either way - just want to get on with it!

latearrival · 29/06/2005 23:27

Also hope things are moving along for you Aussiesim. Good luck.

pinkmama · 30/06/2005 08:11

Woke up at 4 this morning with lots of back ache and contractions. Laid there for a while willing it to go away. Made me realise that whilst I may be doing lots of moaning about being pregnant I really am not ready. Only 36 weeks today and really want to make it till 39 weeks when dd finishes school so that dh can have his paternity leave all across the holidays. They eventually settled down after about an hour. It made me realise that a) I have no say in when this happens (just fingers crossed) and b) it really hurts!

Are braxton hicks meant to hurt that much? Dont think I had them with the other two.

MommyD · 30/06/2005 08:34

pinkmama - i have been having exactly the same as you - lots of painful BH which I definitely did not have in my first two pregnancies.
I am 36+3 today. Been like this for two weeks now. I don't think I will have any idea when I do actually go into labour (if I do before 12th July...yikes!)!!

pinkmama · 30/06/2005 09:01

Sorry you suffering MommyD, but relieved its not just me and makes me hopeful its not too imminent. It really bloody hurt last night! Has made me very nervous, think I will take it easy today. Just off to buy some baby vests though, now nervous it will catch me unprepared.

Eulalia · 30/06/2005 09:44

Congratulations Pandagirl and welcome to little Chloe!

hub2dee - how's the arrangments coming along? Are you planning to b/feed - you may want to consider taking a pump in as babe could be small and have a weak suck and that will help to establish b.feeding. I made this mistake with ds who was 6lbs 2oz (and that was at 41+1 weeks!)

Harriett · 30/06/2005 09:51

Congratulations Pandagirl- another lovely little girl! And a lovely name too.
We seem to be an antenatal club full of little girls- does anyone know that they are having boys?
Hope Aussiesim is doing well too.

Harriett · 30/06/2005 09:56

I wonder if anyone is having similar feelings to me- I am experiencing some very strange pressure down in my nethers- like baby is trying to poke out! It isn't constant, just sort of 'dips' in and out, but isn't painful or uncomfortable, it just makes me want to pee! subsequently not having much sleep at all.
any thoughts?

Bagpuss30 · 30/06/2005 09:59

Pinkmama/Mommyd, I have had very bad BH, possibly worse than in my previous pgs but when I asked my MW about it she said that my uterus could just be contracting a bit every now and again but not very efficiently and then giving up, hence my panic last week which resulted in nothing. If that's true then it makes it very difficult to judge how my labour will pan out this time and if we will get to hospital in time when its the real thing!

Mrsd, lol at your post - should I be worried that I find that interesting .

AussieSim, OzJo and I are all having boys I think. I wonder if there will be enough for a 5 a side team?

merryberry · 30/06/2005 10:18

boy here too!

Due to sitting around tedium I am this close to starting to watch BB. Please dear gawd let me go into labour near my due date. I am too old and too ugly to be a BB obsessive anymore.

C'mon baby, let's go for a swim before I start reading the channel four website...

pinkmama · 30/06/2005 11:04

I had forgotten about your panic last week Bagpuss. Just been speaking to my friend who has 4 kids, and she too said that she had no BH with first 2 pgs but with 3rd and 4th she had terrible ones. All makes me feel much better that I may last a while longer.

Harriet, I think I know the sensation you mean, and I think it is just the head dipping in and out the pelvis. Not good for the bladder though!

hub2dee · 30/06/2005 12:02

Hi Eulalia, yep, about to buy a battery driven Avent Medela breast pump ???? (or something like that) to take in. Thanks for thinking of us !

DW is doing well. Consultant told me to take BP readings three times a day 1 hour after meds and numbers are looking good. No protein either. DW has occasional headaches, is very tired, but happy. Seeing the consultant tomorrow and we'll maybe agree c/s day / location etc.

Will keep you all posted.

X

Harriett · 30/06/2005 12:19

thanks pinkmama- I hope that's what it is- hope this means that she wants out really soon! 38 weeks today so shouldn't be too long now... should it?!!!
MerryBerry- DON'T DO IT!!! I too have been showing signs of BB syndrome but have been adamant that I wasn't going to get hooked this year. But there is nothing else worth watching on- I have resorted to Miss Marples and old Columbo's ('just one more thing, ma'am') but always end up falling asleep and missing the crucial bit at the end (but then again, haven't they all been on 46 times before?)
Maybe I should go and make loads of pies and cakes like all the maternity books tell you to do and stock the freezer up...

merryberry · 30/06/2005 13:23

i think they hire the same baddie over and over again in both marple and columbo anyway:-)

mrsdarcy · 30/06/2005 13:38

Pinkmama and MommyD - I have also had BH contractions which, if they were period pains, would be bad enough to get me reaching for the ibuprofen and grouching at DH! All of my pregnancies have been characterised by BH throughout though, not just near the end. I am trying to welcome them as a sign that my uterus is toning up (aided by rasberry leaf tea!).

Harriet - I am also having exactly the feeling you describe. My consultant said on Tuesday that it was the head dipping in and out of my pelvis. I'm peeing about 4 times a night!

I've had pretty straightforward labours and one advantage of the things we have to worry about is that I am so terrified of what the rest of my life holds for me, that the labour just seems like nothing at all! I hope I can keep up this level of sang froid - there has to be one perk from all this anxiety!

Wonder when we'll hear from AussieSim, and how HC and her baby are getting on .

After avoiding it pretty successfully, DH and I watched a bit of BB last night. They are a deeply dull and dim bunch this year - bitchy gay blokes and bitchy slutty girls. GAH! I am getting into it even whilst I slag it off. NO NO NO! Charlotte Bronte, Jane Austin, Panorama........

Harriett · 30/06/2005 15:19

...Trisha, Jerry Springer, This Morning, Divorce Court, Maternity Ward... why oh why did we just get cable?!!!

merryberry · 30/06/2005 17:11
