I too am eating like a student - the shame of it!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
CurlyCasper · 07/12/2009 15:24

ooh iggs if you are defo 7+6 we'll have the same EDD now (20th) Positive thoughts still streaming in your direction...

Wonderstuff · 07/12/2009 16:47

Are all the people having scans atm getting them done privately? Have managed to get into see the mw earlier, on 22nd Dec, but nuchal fold scan definitly be in the new year. Toying with the idea of having one done privately, so I can be sure of the dates and rule out twins (please god) as have a niggle about that as feeling soo awful. Have found a couple of places locally, but don't know if we can justify the expense.

CurlyCasper · 07/12/2009 16:51

Yes it was private (£75) but so worth it. They said baby now has a 98% chance of making it to full term. I got to see the heartbeat, had my ovaries checked (loads of follicles!); took home three pictures, including one with the crown to rump length marked on it, a report giving EDD and confirmation of all that was seen, plus a fancy guide to pregnancy. Best Christmas and birthday present ever - don't want anything else now. If you can find the money, I'd say do it. My NHS scan is on Jan 7., this way we have news to share before Christmas.

Spirael · 07/12/2009 17:32

Evening all! I'm glad the scans are turning out well, for those of you having them done at the moment. You're making me all excited about my scan on the 17th!! I can't believe I have to wait another week and a bit, but hopefully it means there'll be plenty to see when it gets to my turn.

Mine is a private scan as well, Wonderstuff, costing £100 but that includes a DVD with all the pictures and video they take. It's an evening scan, as taking time off work is difficult at the moment.

Found out today I have another six day working week! Oh well... The extra money will turn out useful no doubt and it keeps me nicely distracted from dwelling over all things baby. DH is a star and does a good job of getting the shopping done and keeping the house running around me while I'm working, so I can't really complain that much.

One thing I can complain about though is MS!! I feel sick as a dog again, though I haven't actually thrown up lately. Every day the constant nausea starts up mid-morning and only goes away briefly after I eat. Getting a bit fed up of it now, but by the sounds of things I have at least another three or four weeks to tolerate yet.

Oh well... I remember a while back feeling disappointed I had no symptoms. I guess this is teaching me a good lesson!

mousemole · 07/12/2009 18:02

well done on all the scans ! curly, yours sounds really great and comprehensive. Mine was £65 and was OK - left with 3 pictures which show nothing remotely resembling a baby !
My food addiction today is pear drops and rosy apples ( remember them ?!). Wondering when this MS, or rather all day sickness is going to wear off. DS2 was up about 5 times last night with his bad cough and today I feel LOUSY !

Emster30 · 07/12/2009 18:11

Ooh my addiction atm is aniseed imperials. yum!

WEnt for Christmas lunch with my old department today. It was a bit annoying that I had to shout what I wanted to drink down to the other end of the table so EVERYONE knew I was drinking soda water. I passed it off by saying that I had to drive later, plus it was only Monday, but frankly I don't think they'll have bought it, knowing my usual drinking habits! Oh well, it doesn't really matter if they do guess, I suppose, as long as they don't go asking me about it, and I don't think any of them would.

Wonderstuff · 07/12/2009 19:28

Have persuaded dh an early private scan is the way to go, there is a place really nearby, so will get on the blower and book tomorrow. Got mw to move forward my booking in appt, then found out we finally exchanged contracts today! We are going to rent so have to get somewhere to live now, have seen a nice house in chosen village, means I won't be making that booking in appt! Move on the 17th. Was really looking forward to it, we finally get our bedroom back as in one bed atm, but just feel sick, too sick to pack, to sick to get excited, too sick to go shopping for dd's new bedroom Roll on July.

Gracie123 · 07/12/2009 19:31

stac have had gas and air before when pregnant with DS. It was sort of helpful, but I still ended up vomiting and passing out.

DH had to hold me down and hold gas and air as I was ready to bolt.

GP is generally very sympathetic though (compared to most) and has been good to organise counselling (even if a there is a long waiting list) when other drs for the last 15 or so years have just told my parents to drug me up.

My scan is tomorrow. Can't freaking wait. We really have no idea how far along I am as my cycles are so irregular. Could be anything from 6 weeks to 14!! Feeling very rough, so really hoping it's 14...

Winter that is a long way off. I'm impressed that they plan that far ahead. TBH I am super impressed that I got a text from the hospital reminding me of my appointment tomorrow. Where has all this efficiency come from? What happened to the NHS we knew and loved

I'm addicted to

Gracie123 · 07/12/2009 19:33

Sorry you are so sick wonder I know how you feel.

Puked three times on the way to pick DS up from nursery today.

evening all

wonderstuff mine was a standard NHS dating scan We have a bloody good system here - early bird check-in clinic from 5wks, scan at around 10 wks and booking in 8-12 wks. Postcode lottery isn't it? Good luck with the move, make sure you do alot of directing and not much moving

Current obsession appears to be raw jelly. Going through a packet of the stuff a day but nearly threw a tantrum in tescos when I realised they didn't have tangerine flavour grr. I've had to settle for orange instead.

Reining dh in as he wants to tell the world asap. I'm 10+5 now so I guess we're ok aren't we?

tjtheminx · 08/12/2009 02:50

Secondcoming... I am kind of in the same situation as you, as far as I can work out I am 8 weeks as had fairly light one 8 weeks ago ~ would be great if the scan showed 12 weeks. Although going from past experience I feel exactly as I have before a 8 weeks (shite!) compared to 12 when I haven't felt so bad ( at least can't remember)

I remember being told if the scan at 6 weeks is good then there's a >95% chance of a healthy baby... so 10 weeks even better.

violetbubbles · 08/12/2009 07:30

Morning!
I'm so, so happy that the scans went well yesterday! I had a private early scan at 7 weeks + 4 days. Cost me £90 but worth it. Got three A4 size photos and a nice folder to keep them in. Although £90 seems more expensive than what a lot of others are paying for a basic scan it's on a par with what other private scanning places in Glasgow charge. My NHS scan is on 23rd December when I'll be 12 weeks + 2 days - can't wait! Fingers crossed everything goes well and we'll get to surprise close family on Xmas Day.

I really don't want to tell EVERYONE at 12 weeks but my MIL is a bit of a nightmare at keeping secrets and maybe it's a bit selfish of me to expect her not to tell people...I'm feeling quite stressed out about this actually...I'd rather wait until I was abut 16 weeks before I tell my employer and randoms on the street...anyone else actually feeling nervous about telling people at 12 weeks?

CurlyCasper · 08/12/2009 08:42

we're a day off 8 weeks and telling people now, after yesterday's successful scan. Couldn't keep my mouth shut over Christmas! Just told family and friends we're in regular contact with. The rest can follow on whenever - but it's not a secret at all (my gran knows now, so there's no chance of it staying quiet!)

ooh wicked I was desperate for jelly yesterday - but not raw! Anything with jelly in it really - trifle goes down a treat!

stac14 · 08/12/2009 08:59

I got given an early scan last week as i was having a lot of pains, everything was fine and sonographer said everything is as it should be. The baby looked like a kidney bean lol. We have only told close family and friends (mainly as we thought i was further on. Bloody irregular periods) and are waiting till xmas to tell the others. How's the ms today? DS isn't very well so he is at home, still managed to eat his advent callander lol. Take care x

Spirael · 08/12/2009 09:01

Morning all! I hope people aren't feeling too bad today. I feel ok for the moment, but then the morning is the one time of the day when I usually don't feel Morning Sickness... I always was a bit back to front on things-!

I've told my immediate family and in-laws already, as well as a few close friends. DH and I are planning on broadcasting more publically to friends and further family on/around New Year, assuming the scan next week goes ok. I'll be 11 weeks by then, so hopefully combined with a successful scan then we should be pretty confident of everything going ahead this time.

Not sure about the jelly obsessions... But then I'm never usually a big fan of jelly. My strangeness here is spicy food! (Though I admit I got a craving for potato waffles after the discussion about them, ages back.)

Last night I got DH to cook me chilli pasta with chilli pesto and ate it with chilli and garlic. Poor DH was downing milk like it was going out of fashion, so spicy was the meal. Meanwhile I was sat there thinking that finally I'd found something which had a nice mild tang to it.

Oh well, my FiL is known for having only a single tastebud left after years of eating spicy, raw chillis. I guess DC is going to be taking after the paternal grandfather!

I wonder if DFiL will have any chillis in for Christmas...

WickedWitchSouthWest · 08/12/2009 09:03

morning

taking dd on a little pre school trip to the primary school to watch them do their nativity it's a bit early for me to be social really so have a box of jelly in my bag

I think I'll do a general announcement type thing today. It's so close to 12 weeks and the scan weas good, so curly you're right there's no need to wait the extra week now!

violet I didn't really tell that many ppl when pg with dd, I didn't want to stand in the office and tell everyone really but this time round I have so many different friend groups coz of toddler groups, antenatal, postnatal etc I will have to do a big thing or someone will be annoyed at being left out!!

iggypiggy · 08/12/2009 09:23

Morning all - has scan yesterday evening and was all fine - saw heartbeat and measurements were exactly right for 7 + 6 weeks.

v. happy because it was at an early scan that i discovered i was miscarrying last time - so this is big step forward... Got date of next scan as 4th Jan.

Exciting people are announcing now! I am going to wait until after the scan in Jan - but only cos I am paranoid!

CurlyCasper · 08/12/2009 09:32

iggy - we have got the same EDD then! Although, I'm of course hoping that I echo my mother by giving birth three weeks early to a tiny, easy-to-pop-out baby
Very pleased for you.

Have you, and everyone else who's been scanned, got pics to share? Shoved mine on my profile - I'm turning into a gusher! (save me!)

Gracie123 · 08/12/2009 09:33

Congrats to everyone with scans that have gone well. Mines at 2pm today. Very nervous now as been having horrible cramping, and I'm high risk ectopic due to previous surgeries/scar tissue.

If I don't come back and let you know how it went, it probably wasn't good. Hopefully speak to you all soon.

Gracie

iggypiggy · 08/12/2009 10:16

I have got pics - but haven't got them electronic or anything!

I guess i could take pic of it and add to profile - but as it looks like a seahorse, I might as well wait until I get a better one...

gracie good luck for today!

CurlyCasper · 08/12/2009 10:26

A seahorse! much more exotic than my jelly baby
