I too am eating like a student - the shame of it!

My God I feel ill. Not ms. Ill Started throwing up through the night and just generally feel like death warmed up (slightly warmed up to be more precise) Thank goodness ds is at nursery otherwise I'd be up Shit Creek without a paddle!

CurlyCasper · 04/12/2009 12:47

spirael I asked GP for a form for free presecriptions - he signed it and handed it over straight away.

Just gobbled loads of free buffet food - times like this I really like my work - just a shame about tonight! I will be napping...

Gracie123 · 04/12/2009 13:11

Grrr.....client is 45 mins late. I bet she's a no show. And I planned all DS's naps around her and cancelled coffee with a friend too (she couldn't make a normal slot and wanted me to see her on my day off)

Problem is she is old and on a GP referral anyway. Seems a bit ridiculous to charge her for the appointment when it's at such a huge discount.
I'm just peeved.

siprael MW offered me free prescription form at 5wks(ish) pg. We didn't actually need it as we are low income we get free NHS anyway, but there is really no harm in asking for it if it hasn't been offered.

Gracie123 · 04/12/2009 13:12

Having said that, when we lived in Notts, they wouldn't give me free prescriptions until I was 20 weeks because they said the pregnancy might still not be viable

I had to take loads of anti-ms drugs (because I was mal-nourished and dehydrated from vomiting) and it cost us a bloody fortune!

violetbubbles · 04/12/2009 13:30

Spirael - My GP gave me a form to fill in a couple of weeks ago and I received my medical exemption card this morning. I now get all of my prescriptions for free! I'm in Scotland though, so not sure if they have different rules up here!

Best wishes to everyone suffering with MS/All day sickness. I had chicken noodle soup for lunch. Wish I hadn't now...

tobago04 · 04/12/2009 13:54

Hi all
spirael with my last pregnancy i just told them i was pregnant and i did'nt have to pay
i'm still feeling fine,no symptoms or anything yet, making the most of it as i'm sure it wont last

stac14 · 04/12/2009 14:02

Hey ladies think I am now joining you all in the nausea stakes, have been feeling rough since last night. On the plus side I got my booking appointment through this morning but it wasnt till 18th Jan, had to call medical records as have an underactive thyroid which is supposed to be checked regulary throughout pregnancy so the date was changed to next wednesday, shocked but happy I am going to see baby again, dp can't get time off work and is gutted so think it may have to be one of my friends or sil.

Anyone got any plans for the weekend? I am doing the shopping tonight, resting tomorrow and then have a 30th tomorrow night were I will be using the antibiotics excuse. Funnily enough was at a friends last week using the same excuse when her friend told me I could drink on antibiotics unless it was some one (cant remember which but begins with M) so I said ti was that one lol

CurlyCasper · 04/12/2009 14:30

Looked into this/though about it more now:

Has anyone else got an appointment with a consultant obstetrician at their first booking appointment?

So far I've only seen GP. My letter for first Maternity Unit appointment says "An appointment has been booked for you with Mr Consultant" and then goes on to explain all the other 'normal' booking in stuff, plus the ultrasound (I'll be 12 weeks by then).

I have rheumatoid arthritis and have had Lletz treatment for cervical pre-cancer, and wonder if they have already decided I need specialist care. GP might have mentioned that though - bit scared now! [worried face]

But then again, at least the drugs should be good

Spirael · 04/12/2009 14:46

Thanks for all the info about the exemption certificate, everyone. I can dimly recall that the MW got me to sign something relating to it at my last appointment... Then took it away. I'm assuming it was a form to be sent off and I'll get something through the post eventually about it. But anyway, if I've heard nothing by my appointment next Friday then I'll ask!

I'm currently on Midwife & Consultant care, CurlyCasper. The MW explained it to me that it's mostly precautionary and I'll probably see the consultant once then get thrown back in the pool of being cared for exclusively by the MW team. In my case it's because there's some age related diabetes in my grandparents and because I had TB when I was a pre-schooler. Neither are likely to cause an issue, but the MW team want to cover their asses the consultant to confirm that.

Hello! I'm hoping to join in this thread. I was addicted to Mumsnet for my first pregnancy (I have a little boy who's turning 4 next Tuesday), but once I went back to work didn't visit very often.

Anyway I'm now expecting no. 2 in mid July (15th is current thinking in re: due date) and very excited. I'm experiencing more MS this time around and already showing even though I'm only 8 weeks along - bit worried about possibility of twins as I definitely look a lot more pregnant than two months. No history of twins in my family in previous generations, but now both my cousin and my brother's GF are expecting twins - hoping it's not something in the water!

So hopefully look forward to getting to know you all over next few months. My stats are: 41, 2nd baby, North London.

CurlyCasper · 04/12/2009 15:00

Thanks spirael - guess I've just been caught up their filtering system

kkfairybrains · 04/12/2009 15:13

hi all not feelin 2 bad this end except exhausted. cant keep my eyes open most of the time! nausea seeems 2 have settled except the very odd time and boobs are killer! just feels like 2 massive bruises!
wingy im takin pregnacare 2 and always take it at night so im not feeling sick so maybe taking it later is the way to go.
10 weeks 2day! cant believe how quickly the time is going but i think its because im not obsessing about it as much this time. only got to 8 weeks last time so feeling positive! hope every1 with morning sickness is ok its a horrrible feeling but its all a good sign and it will pass soon!xx

WinterMadness · 04/12/2009 15:13

Sorry, can't remember who mentioned it, but you must never, never drink if you're taking Metronidazole. It is very dangerous so anyone using the antibiotics line, qoute that cos anyone 'in the know' wouldn't query it. I've had it before for a tooth/gum infection if you're looking for excuses!

Starting to feel a little more human. Thank God

Yes, I had metronidazole last year for a tooth problem and couldn't drink on it so that's the one to cite!

I could have sworn I posted earlier but I can't find it.

Yay, it's the weekend - sleeeeeeep! Hooray! I haven't got too many plans. Takeaway curry and Becks Blue tonight, yay.

winjy · 04/12/2009 18:33

TishTosh21 · 04/12/2009 20:24

i cant get hold of my midwife STILL!
i tried ringing her in all my breaks at work today and her phone was off. its really really irritating and i cant stop thinking about it i really want to get hold of her but her phone is never bloody switched on!

stac14 · 04/12/2009 22:37

hiya ladies
does anyone else feel as if they have a bad case of pmt were you could cry some days and moan at everyone other days? feel like such a moaning mini, thanks for the name of that antibiotic, I am using it as an excuse for tomorrow night lol
tishtosh that would drive me mad, surely she would have a call divert were you could speak to a secretary or something, hope you have better luck soon!!

GibbonInARibbon · 05/12/2009 08:41

Tish, ring your doctors and explain that no one is returning your calls, there should be a main number for you to call to speak to the MW's not just one number for one midwife? At least there is a main number in my area. Good luck, it must be so frustrating.

I was going from depressed to angry to weepy about 30 times a day stac but luckily that has eased up the last couple of weeks

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

TishTosh21 · 05/12/2009 10:08

Hello, thanks stac and gibbon I have now managed to get through to her, thought i would just check to see if her phone was on this morning and it was and my voice was all croaky cos I hadnt spoken yet! Ive got my first meeting with her on 16th Dec, ill be 10 weeks by then

Does anyone know why they ask you to bring your wee in a pot with the white powder in??

Daisy2010 · 05/12/2009 10:43

Hello Ladies....

Have been away from mumsnet for a while - manic work schedule during the week and have wanted to do nothing but sleep over the weekends!

I have been having my share of ms in the evenings - very very uncomfortable....

I have my booking appointment with the mw on the 10th next week but the letter I have received says I will NOT be offered a scan then - and that I will need to book a nuchal t scan at the booking appointment ( which will take another 3 weeks it seems ! )... I will be 10 weeks next week and was wondering if I should ask the mw for a dating scan?

Has anyone else had a similar letter ? I haven't had a scan yet and am trying to remain calm about things but a bit worried now....
Do you think I should get a scan done privately before the nuchal scan on nhs just to check if alls ok...DH thinks we should wait till next week to check with the mw....

This is my first so a bit confused.... any help is most appreciated.

winjy · 05/12/2009 12:17

just did clearblue digi test and it has put me 3+ so another week on from last week so im starting to feel a lot more positive now!! just need to wait for my scan now

womb feeling really full...is this normal feeling?? boobs are agony too...so hope this pg is viable...

hope all mnetters are blooming this weekend...

Firerise · 05/12/2009 12:57

Morning all, think I have just about kicked the swine flu but it has left me looking like an extra from Shaun of the Dead and feeling very weak indeed.

Also looks like MS has now begun to kick me while I am down. Pah. I haven't left the house for a week now and going slightly doolaley.

Sorry, feeling sorry for myself and just want to slap myself out of it and function properly again.

DreamingAboutSleep · 05/12/2009 12:59

Hello, hope everyone's having a lovely and MS free weekend so far!

I haven't even told the GP I'm pg yet (about 8 weeks now), the last appointment I had was cancelled due to NO doctors turning up for work that morning , I'm due to see him again next week and am guessing it'll be after Xmas before I get seen by the MW, hopefully I'll be offered a dating scan at the same time.

I've also stopped feeling sick all the time and am worried now about losing pg symptoms, I'd never have believed I would ever have missed feeling sick all day. Although I'm currently living on peanut butter on toast and chocolate (am thinking of adding foam banana's to that very healthy list), maybe that's something to do with it!

Any how, am off to my nephew's 6th B'day party later, bowling with 5 small children including my DD who will just want to run up and down the bowling aisle whilst re-distributing skittles everywhere, very relaxing
