Sevans and keeva - so sorry to hear your news - hope you get a sticky one soon...

Best of luck today WinterMadness hope it just turns out to be one of those unexplained scares that ends in happiness...

Good luck with the shingles test secondcoming! Sorry your mother's not being supportive. Sadly I can relate...thus not really telling her anything this go round

Anyone else on their 2nd (or more) preganncy finding that their bump popped out VERY quickly this time? I'm telling myself that it must surely just be wind, but at 6 weeks I'm already eyeing up maternity clothes...Regular trousers that are normally reserved for bloaty Auntie Flo visits were cutting into my belly yesterday. Argh.

Gracie123 · 02/12/2009 14:06

ARRRRRRGGGGGHHHH!!!!!!!
We are back off to doctors - wish me luck!

DS has just developed a really nasty rash. I'm pretty annoyed because someone with a kid with chicken pox brought it to church - we left early, but still, I'm concerned.

Probably wouldn't be that big a deal, but I haven't had MMR and I'm more worried that it's going to be measles.

violetbubbles · 02/12/2009 14:22

Just had confirmation through for my first ante-natal appointment on Wednesday 23rd December. It says that the expected length of my consultation will be between 2-3 hours. So, I phoned them to make sure I would definitely get a scan that day and they said, yes, I'll definitely get my 12 week scan during my consultation. So, so excited!

I live in Glasgow and they do everything in the one appointment (blood tests, medical history, weight, etc...). Anyone else been to the New Victoria Hospital in Glasgow for their first ante-natal appointment? Would love to hear your experiences / thoughts...

Good luck to secondcoming and Gracie123 and anyone else dealing with sick children at the moment x

givecarrotsachance · 02/12/2009 14:41

Def gotta big tummy but there's no way it's the baybee. Ute is neatly tucked under pelvic bone (I had a good poke around) so for me it's definately too much food (feeling so hungry and it helps the MS) and bloating. Given size of any July baby it's not the actual kid what's doing it, just yet...

iggypiggy · 02/12/2009 14:52

sevans and Keeva really sorry to hear your news - it really is shite and I hope you are both looking after yourselves. x

Hope everyone else is ok. I am on the countdown for my early scan on 7th dec. Waiting is horrible - i just want to know if this one is ok or not...

Firerise · 02/12/2009 15:00

Sevans & Keeva really sorry about your sad news, I am thinking of you both x

Winter keeping my fingers tightly crossed for you, really hope you are ok.

Wonderstuff hope you start to feel better soon and the digestives are helping...no idea about ketones but hope it goes well for your tests tomorrow.

tscoming & gracie hope your little ones feel better soon.

Not having a great week as both DH & I have come down with swine flu. He's on tamiflu and I have been given Relenza as it is inhaled it is less likely to effect our bean but haven't taken it as it even says on the packet that it is not recomended for pregnant women so I am scared stiff plus loads on the net about skelatal abnormalities in pregnant rabits they tested on. I have kept down my fever with as few paracetamol as possible but worried about the damage having a fever can do. Is that the right thing to do?

Only good thing to happen was DH got my best friend to secretly drop us 2 advent calendars on the doorstep last night so I can now have some daily chocolate in my quarantine!

BettyButterknife · 02/12/2009 15:01

Sorry to hear the sad news... Hope things go as well as they can, Sevans and Keeva. Thinking of you.

I went to see a homeopath this morning and when she gave me the first pill I felt instantly better. Seriously! MS sufferers, I'd recommend giving it a go. Hoping wellness will last as we're off to Paris this afternoon, DS-free, and really don't want our last shot at a holiday to be pukey

Gracie123 · 02/12/2009 15:31

Firerise You should definitely take the relenza It's soooooo much milder than tamiflu, which is what they will give you if you get worse. Also, as the article I linked explains, it is much lower risk than the symptoms you can get from it being left untreated.

Lots of medications have not to take if pregnant written on them to cover the backs of the drug companies in case you have an abnormal pregnancy and try to blame them. (My MS drug said not to be taken in pregnancy. When I took it back to MW she laughed and explained).

If you are concerned ring your pharmacist and/or doctor again for a chat, but don't scare yourself silly reading whatever unregulated articles have been printed on line. We aren't medically trained and don't know how to interpret the results. Your doctor really is trying to give you the best treatment in this situation and doesn't want you to lose the baby any more than you do.

As for my DS - turns out it's an allergy to the new anti-biotics

I should have guessed really, as I have the same reaction on erythromycin and cefalexon, but because it was neither of those I didn't think of it. Suddenly understand why he is so whiney. It always gives me a monster headache too

Spirael · 02/12/2009 15:46

Sign me up for the list of people suffering on the MS front today. I've been constantly feeling nauseated! I've worked my way through three ginger biscuits and a gingerbread man so far, for about thirty minutes of comfort per go. I'm going to weigh a ton by the time July comes around.

At least I have only another hour of work to struggle through, then I can curl up in a ball at home for a few hours. I'm meant to be going out later with DH to help at a Scouts meeting (we're assistant leaders) but I think I might call in sick at this rate.

I agree that being tired seems to make things worse, as I think part of the reason I'm struggling so much today is because I got to bed late last night. DH was playing computer games and then he woke me up a few times overnight because he (genuinely) wasn't feeling well.

Speaking of which, has anyone else had experience of their DH/DP stealing their symptoms?? My DH was even upset yesterday evening that his trousers didn't seem to be fitting him properly because he felt so bloated! (Just to point out - my DH is spaghetti thin without an ounce of fat on him...annoying bugger.)

I adore my DH and don't mind giving him TLC when he needs it, but I'm pretty sure I'm meant to be the pregnant woman in our relationship!! I was under the impression that sympathy symptoms were meant to kick in later.

I'm not sure how enthusiastic I am about having to take care of a sympathetically pregnant DH for the next seven and a half months...

WinterMadness · 02/12/2009 17:02

All is ok in the Winter household!!!! Will write more when ds has gone to bed but just thought I'd quickly let you know. Thank you all for your kind wishes x

GibbonInARibbon · 02/12/2009 17:06

Oh winter that's wonderful news!!

Firerise I do hope you all feel better soon x

Gracie, hope DS feels better soon x

Spirael sorry to hear you have the lurgy MS

WickedWitchSouthWest · 02/12/2009 17:40

oh thank goodness winter! I was just logging in to see if there was news

My dh came out in sympathy with me with dd too, he thinks it's funny but I'm not really finding his mood swings too much cop!

My belly is ridiculous. Had nice afternoon out with some friends who I've told and they think I'm hiding it well but today I really do look well and truly up the duff. Skinny maternity jeans and an empire line black t shirt with my grey cape. I look HUGE!!

Scan on monday I can't wait...anyone else who hasn't had any problems so far really nervous about the scan? I was the same with dd...what if I'm not pregnant? What if there's something wrong....it's stopped me sleeping for a couple of nights now, I just want everything to be ok.

Hope all poorly children are ok - and it's not measles (eek) and you're immune to chicken pox...what a worry.

Spirael, I've had a few days off ms, so looks like I've passed it on to you, relay-style!

mousemole · 02/12/2009 18:09

big hugs to all of you with bad MS. Mine has been a lot better last couple of days- I am 8 weeks. Of course then I panic that something is wrong but had my private scan yesterday and so far all is OK.
When is MS supposed to 'peak' ?
Also what is 'average' weight gain for the first trimester. I am guessing my 8lbs is above average ! Quite amusingly DH has put on a few lbs as well
WWSW my belly too is ridiculous. So saggy and bloated. NICE !

Glad to hear all's well wintermadness!

The community midwife phoned today to give me my booking in appointment next Thursday at 1pm - I'll be 8.5 weeks. I think I'll have to work from home as it won't quite be worth going in either before or after the appointment.

beckyg123 · 02/12/2009 19:04

Wow things really do move fast on here!

So sorry to those suffering losses, sending big comforting hugs... Its just so crap and unfair!

Winter, glad you have good news, looking forward to reading about it later on!

I have been to next and bought maternity jeans, as I've not been this far in a pregnancy before this is all new to me!!! Was well impressed with the elastic straps and button idea! I am so much more comfortable now and can actually sit at my desk for more than 10 mins without feeling like being cut in half!!! WOW ITS AMAZING!!!

However met a friend today who is almost 5 months and she doesn't look half as big as me! A tiny wee bump and thats it!!! Was too ashamed to tell her my news!

Violetbubbles - I am also in glasgow but going through the princess royal. Not heard anything yet from midwife or scan? Was thinking about calling to chase things up as would love 12 week scan in week 12. 9 weeks now so not long to go.

Turkey drummers, oven chips and beans for dinner... mmm... oh, healthy eating plan only seems to last til 5pm lol!

berberis · 02/12/2009 19:08

winter that is great news! x

kittykat77 · 02/12/2009 19:57

Good to hear you are doing ok now winter.

Well I feel completely and utterly pants! Have been dragging myself round with the kids so far this week, but unfortunately I have work tomorrow, so am going to have to try and pretend I feel fine at 7:30 in the morning... no idea how I will manage that
Was planning on waiting to tell work, as I'm only 7 weeks but am thinking I may have to let them know if I carry on feeling this bad, I don't think I will be able to hide it for too much longer... especially as we have communal toilets at work - and at this rate they may be a little suspicious if I spend half the morning in there...
Pleased that lots of other people are just eating crap, problem is so are my kids, as I can't face cooking them anything much either... they have had fish fingers and chips twice this week, and we are only on Wednesday! Roll on 12 weeks and hopefully this will all get much better!

TishTosh21 · 02/12/2009 20:00

WinterMadness · 02/12/2009 20:19

So....

Went to he day unit with full bladder. Got there early and then she was delayed 15mins by an emergency...can you imagine how desperate for the loo I was?!?! Eventually went through and was asked if anyone had ever told me I had a retroverted uterus. The answer by the way is no. Apparently is makes no difference to anything, except makes early scans nigh on impossible. So she saw the sack but no baby - my hart sank. Then she said she could either do an internal scan or I could wait a couple of weeks till the weight of the baby tipped my uterus. What do you think I opted for? Lol

So after emptying my bladder finally and proceeding with the internal, shetold me bubba as fine. He/she is teeny weeny small but all present and correct with a 'good strong heartbeat'. Well of course I then burst into tears with the relief.

My scan pic shows the bleed that's still there. It's between the membane and my uterus wall but hasn't affected the baby. The bleed that's there is quite large and I'm likely to bleed again. She's scanning me again 2 weeks today to check baby's growing ok and if the bleed's still there/any bigger. If I bleed again I have to ring up again.

So all in all nothing to worry about at the moment. Apparently now they've seen a heartbeat my risk of miscarriage has dropped from 25% to 1% so fingers crossed! My due date is now 5th rather than 3rd, I need bumping down the list!

Thanks again for everone's kind words, you're lovely x

GibbonInARibbon · 02/12/2009 20:25
