GoldenSnitch · 10/12/2009 18:06

It has made me feel a bit better.

It was very hard thinking about DS's birth and all the things that went wrong and I have cried a lot today - but it's been nice to write down all the ways I would have changed it in the hope that it will be better this time.

Putting a few bits in bold was very cathartic too

Good luck Missy - hope things get going for you soon!!

Thanks Tikkabillajive - Happy Nearly-Birthday to your DS

GoldenSnitch · 10/12/2009 18:25

OOh, and another day has gone by with no cancellation call

The lady I was bugging in the booking office told me they don't work Fridays and I'm guessing they don't work weekend either so I have till Monday to chill out a little...

Just next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday to get through then I'll be in hopefully!!

Baby has really slowed down the past couple of days. Isn't that a sign she might be ready to make an entrance?

BexJ78 · 10/12/2009 20:36

Oh fingers crossed then GS that you can manage to avoid the cancellation!

Off for my s&s tomorrow morning. wish me luck!

Ww must be due some more good news soon, surely!!!

GoldenSnitch · 10/12/2009 21:00

Good luck Bex

Stigaloid · 10/12/2009 21:29

Had my 39 week appointment today and been prescribed course of antibiotics to take for the next week to try and combat my Group B Strep. DS got infected at birth and we had a horrendous time of it last time so hopefully by taking the AB's now and having them during labour we can avoid the same scenario this time round. Baby is very far down according to midwife and all other signs are good. Just one week left to go so going to make the most of taking DS to nursery and coming home and sleeping during the day. Have finished making curtains for nursery and DS's room. Christmas lunch is in the freezer, cooked christmas cake today, going to decorate it tomorrow. Nursery painted and pictures put up. Just have a couple more paintings to do for DS's room and my list of things to do is complete. Hooray!

biscuitsmustbedunkedintea · 10/12/2009 22:34

Had my 38wk appointment today. Baby's heartbeat was very fast (up to 172) and mw almost sent me for a trace. However it did calm down to 155, and as I'm "fit & healthy" (mw's words, not mine!) and have no other problems, she thinks it was just because baby was very active just before she had a listen. However I didn't feel s/he had been. Am a little worried now, as 2 weeks ago the heartbeat was all over the place, but before that it has been between 142-148. Dh keeps telling me that if it was that bad, the mw would have sent me to the hospital. Guess I'm just worrying about nothing. Had DD with me, who was moaning, so had quite a brief appointment which maybe has thrown me.

I'm just feeling v teary today and wanting to "nest" but can't because I just don't have the energy and painful hips. Feel like the house isn't ready, haven't wrapped the presents, and have no idea when baby will put in an appearance. Too many unknowns for my liking I guess Someone reassure me all will be ok!

Shimmer · 10/12/2009 23:09

Of course everything will be fine biscuits! There's always so many unknowns around giving birth, but it will work out. Things happen when they happen and all we can do is try and be as prepared as possible... and the rest we'll just have to muddle through!!
At my last mw appointment my baby's heartbeat was also a bit high but mw said, just like yours, that is was probably just cos it was very active. She checked again about 10 mins later and was normal (baby had probably nodded off or something!) so I really wouldn't worry about that.

Glad everything's still on track Snitch and you have hospital bag packed etc. Mine is now sort of half packed... i've emptied a load of stuff onto the bedroom floor and will at some point (probably early stages of labour!) decide what to put in a bag!

Movements have definitely slowed/dulled here in the last 2 days. It's kind of nice because i'm not getting pummelled anymore, but at least pummelling is reassuring... I am hoping like you said Snitch that maybe this means arrival is imminent?!?

I'm finally feeling a bit better today after 2 days of antibiotics, which I had prescribed for a sinus infection and does seem to be clearing up now! Thank God. Can finally start thinking about giving birth etc!

Oh, I've moved on to raspberry leaf pills now as couldn't face the tea anymore! I'd recommend them to anyone not enjoying their RLT - much easier!

GoldenSnitch · 11/12/2009 07:06

Up early cause baby had hiccups and woke me up! Too much going through my head to get back to sleep - today is going to be a loooong day!

I'm sure everything is fine biscuits. Baby could have been active but if s/he was facing into you (she s/he should be at this point - getting ready to make an appearance) then you wouldn't have felt much. Near the end of my pregnancy with DS, I had to be monitored and they were worried because his heart rate didn't fluctuate much, meaning that he wasn't moving around a lot. A healthy, wriggly baby should have a heart rate that changes as they exert themselves by moving around. He was fine and I'm sure babybiscuits will be too.

My SIL got all panicked the other day when we told her babysnitch could be along on the 17th. She was talking to DH and saying "but are you ready?!" We just laughed. After all, all babies are 6 days () from their birthday at some point - the fact that we know when she's going to be here should make use more prepared surely? What with that and knowing she's a girl, and the fact that she's our second child, we're about as prepared as any one can be for a baby!

Glad you're feeling better Shimmer and glad to hear we're getting a few more babies showing signs of being ready to come and join us. It's been a few days since we had any new arrivals...

Mybox · 11/12/2009 07:49

Biscuits - I had this at my 36 wk appt. Had some monitoring that showed fast heartbeat & m/w said it was because dd was moving around but she wasn't moving alot I thought. If you're worrying give the hospital a ring. I had my dd 2 wks early & everything was ok.

madmissy · 11/12/2009 08:35

Been up all night with DD1 shes got a cough and its so hard to get someone to sell you damn medicine now!

still feel period like after my sweep not much happpened though but i wasnt holding out too much hope.

at least i know that the cervix has shortened and moved forward etc- should make the induction easier on tuesday

if its any help biscuits i don't feel ready either lol!

Moosy · 11/12/2009 09:04

I don't feel ready either and DD3 is 5 days old!

AmazingBouncingFerret · 11/12/2009 09:05

Well its due day and ive been up since about 4 with horrible BH. I think ive had enough practice now, I want the real ones please.
Going to take the dog for a nice walk round some woods to see if that can get things going because the walk around the garden centre yesterday didnt work!

Milliemuffin · 11/12/2009 10:26

Well I caved in and looks like I am going on DP's xmas do tonight at Jamie Oliver's dad's restraurant, the Cricketers in Clavering so should be good food and we're staying in the hotel and they're aware of my impending arrival but are quite happy so I'll be taking my hospital bag just incase. My only worry is that its an hour from home but baby is still moving quite a bit and I still have acid indigestion so dont think anything'll be happening just yet

lolianja · 11/12/2009 13:49

Congrats to all that have popped - I need to do a catchup asap!

Well my section on the 16th has been cancelled. It appears that the midwife I saw a few days ago couldn't tell the difference between an arse and a head. The cons. confirmed that Twin 1 has indeed turned vertex just as I had suspected. A forgiveable mistake to make under ordinary circumstances but when I'm so low on fluid they're virtually visible from the other side of the room and nearly 38 weeks gone - I'm really wondering how the hell any qualified person could have made that error!

Sod's law dictates I'll probably end up needing a section anyway but I'm glad in a way that I at least have the opportunity to progress naturally. Although the consultant was not happy to say the least. And I can see that not having a definite date for their arrival is going to complicate things re: childcare for my 9-month-old boy.

38 weeks on Tuesday... starting to go insane now. How much longer can they show no signs whatsoever of wanting to come out in the near future?!

biscuitsmustbedunkedintea · 11/12/2009 14:00

I think we're all going insane with that thought Lolianja but it's what this thread's for! The nearer the big date we get, the more worked up we get and the more we post. Is anyone calm and prepared totally for meeting their new ones? Come and calm us all down.

Thanks for everyone's reassurances re babybiscuits heartbeat. Even though you know deep down all's ok, its nice to hear it from other people in the same position.

It has indeed been quiet on the new arrival front. Are the Dec babes hanging on for Christmas?

Did make me laugh earlier when I went to DD's preschool christmas show. It was entitled "Is there a baby in there?" My DH, Sis and myself all sniggered (on the back pew of course) and said "I hope so!"

madmissy · 11/12/2009 14:31

Think we are all getting fed up for sure lol!

I have felt so rough all day and quite sick actually. Been cramping all day still and fell asleep on sofa for good hour or so. The girls had been watching Nemo!

Just went to toilet and tmi but had some brown blood when i wiped so not sure if somethings starting or not. Time will tell i guess!

ABF how are you doing? Hope that BH got reg??

Any news from Sparkly anyone?

Lolijana g

madmissy · 11/12/2009 14:32

GRRRRRR

Thats meant to be great news on going for vaginal!!

GoldenSnitch · 11/12/2009 15:06

Aaaargggh!

Had to go to soft play as we were doing Secret Santa swaps with friends today but I didn't really feel up to it after my 4am start! Managed to get DS and I ready and out of the house only half an hour late!...just got back to find the MIL has been round to drop off some bread pudding stuff for DH.

There are toys all over the lounge and I hadn't wiped the sides in the kitchen so they're covered in toast crumbs!!

MIL is so anally tidy, she has 4 hoovers! One for upstairs, one for downstairs, one for messy jobs and one for the garage!!! DH's mate says their house looks like a museum. She will not have been impressed!!

Any more babies yet?

madmissy · 11/12/2009 15:10

HAHAH snitch!
thats funny you wait you will be adding bottles and milk powder to that worktop very soon!

GoldenSnitch · 11/12/2009 15:34

Nah, that's the joy of boobs - no tidying up

DH thinks I should try for 8 months feeding this time (only managed 6 with DS) as then we'll save ourselves a tonne of packing and hassle when we got to Portugal on holiday next year too. We shall see.

I have got the steriliser out just in case though and have bought 2 bottles and some carton-ed milk just in case! Don't want to get stuck on Christmas Day!!

LaDiDaDi · 11/12/2009 15:39

4 hoovers!!! Mad lady.

I had to tidy up yesterday as the house was such a tip I was ashamed of it and had a friend coming round, otherwise I would have held out until today for my lovely cleaner coming round.

Can't decide whether or not to get some formula in just in case or if that'll just be cursing me. Might get it and put it in a "safe place" which will mean loosing it in the house somewhere.

madmissy · 11/12/2009 15:41

I'm the same I have 3 bottles (still in box) no formula but yet no nursing bras

so i don't know what to do?!

LaDiDaDi · 11/12/2009 15:55

I've got nursing bras, wearing the nursing vests now to keep warm as my other vests won't stretch over the bump.

GoldenSnitch · 11/12/2009 16:05

I swore I wasn't buying any formula on the basis that if it wasn't there I couldn't be tempted (remembering the nights I wanted desperately to give up when DS was days old and I was in tears and struggling) but DH reminded me that if I decided that I absolutely couldn't cope on Christmas Eve then we were stuck - so I bought 2 bottles and 4 cartons of ready made formula (which I've hidden in the back of a cupboard) just in case. I've probably got enough for a couple of days only which seemed much less like 'giving up' than a whole tin.

I should have waited really as if DD comes on the 17th, I'll have had a week to sort out issues before everything shuts down so we'll know what we need beforehand.

Hopefully, everything will go OK and the bottles will only ever gets used for EBM and I can bin the formula in the new year.

Ooh and my nursing bra's came today too

1petshortofazoo · 11/12/2009 16:25

Madmissy that sounds exciting, fingers crossed.
Baby has definatly moved during the day can still feel the head very low down so till not engaged but the bum has dispareared! I cant find it anywhere.....
Been round to my dads today to drop off xmas prezzies where my step mum commented on the size of my legs for about 5mins using the words huge and massive! I was not impressed to say the least! The joys of family....
We need another arrival we haven't had one in a few days, whos going to be next?
