Look what I just cam across on the BBC News website

here

GoldenSnitch · 11/12/2009 16:59

it's on there twice!

scandalous

AmazingBouncingFerret · 11/12/2009 17:36

Nope BH didnt get regular
Went for my long walk round the woods which resulted in them getting quite severe but have now petered off again.
Went into work and was told some gossip the girls were sure would send me into labour but that didnt work either!!
Ive resigned myself to being pregnant forever
Good news my new sofa is coming on Monday, so everyone is taking bets on whether the baby will beat it.
Ive bought my steriliser and bottles, not bought the milk yet though. Just like last time even now only the right nipple is leaking milk, the left one is dry as a bone.
madmissy sounds like something is happening now!
millie hope you have a nice time at the works do.
snitch what an awful time to read about that, is that the hosp you are booked into? try not to let it get you down.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 11/12/2009 17:39

1pet I would of said something to your stepmother along the lines of "yes almost as big as yours now arnt they..." or something similar along those lines. And then blamed pregnancy hormones!!

GoldenSnitch · 11/12/2009 17:49

Yep, I'm all booked in to the "baby death ward"

jumblies · 11/12/2009 18:09

congrats to all those who've had their babies

snitch You are on the safest maternity ward ever...they will be on high alert now. Please don't worry.

I am feeling very depressed at the moment as my planned homebirth is looking less and less likely as each day passes. I have iron levels below the 10 mark and need to get them up before I am booked in for my homebirth. My blood pressure is 135/93 at last count and baby is back to back and almost completely engaged I am terrified of a back to back labour but I more terrified of being induced.

This pregnancy is not going to plan and I am a little fed up now.

Off to make supper and write christmas cards...still haven't put up the tree yet either. Sorry but just needed a rant!!

GoldenSnitch · 11/12/2009 18:18

Thanks jumblies I hope you're right.

Very glad this is my last baby though.

BexJ78 · 11/12/2009 18:51

well went for sweep this morning so fingers crossed it gets things moving. mw said cervix was 'favourable' although still not thinned out...anyway, she did say she felt baby's head and it had lots of hair so that's presumably why bloody heartburn as been so bad recently!

If sweep doesn't work, am having another on tuesday and booked for induction on thursday. fingers crossed we don't get to that point! Hope everyone is feeling ok.

Snitch, agree with Jumblies, you will be in the safest place now that news has been published...everything will be just fine.

GoldenSnitch · 11/12/2009 19:59

Just caught a tiny bit of the news after the one show and heard "Milton Keynes were also criticised for not making changes after another baby died 2 years ago"!!!

madmissy · 11/12/2009 19:59

snitch that story is awful... but you can find one on every hospital we are at i am sure.
you cert could for barnet where i had dd1

my cousin received really good care at mk for her c sec just weeks ago don't panic hun

still feeling period pain like etc and getting some tightenings but nothing new to report

BexJ78 · 11/12/2009 20:07

I think as well by the tme these stories get into the mainstream press, they are usually a long way down the line and hopefully improvents should have been made. the staff there will know they are under intense scrutiny and that should be driving standard up.

GoldenSnitch · 11/12/2009 20:41

I know you guys are right. I suppose it doesn't help that I was already nervous though.

They left poor DS in distress for 36 hours and we're really lucky that he came out of the other side in one piece - perfect. The staff at MK General being so rubbish is the reason I chose an ELCS in the first place. I just don't trust them to look after us.

I guess it's just bad timing that this came out right before I'm due to go in.

Good luck with the period pains Missy, I hope they turn into something more soon.

mwncigirl · 11/12/2009 21:57

Oh jumblies really sorry to hear about your planned homebirth. I'm planning one too and at each step I've worried that it isn't going to happen, low platelets, dropping iron and so on. At the moment its on, but that could change at any time. The thing is, that none of us can really plan what happens with our pregnancies and birth. We do our best for the birth to be as we would like but at the end of the day what's most important is that you and your baby get the best possible care. My heart goes out to you.

Shimmer · 11/12/2009 22:21

Awful story about MK hospital! But try not to worry Snitch - I'm sure like everyone says they'll be being ultra careful. You'll be fine!!

I've got bottles and a few cartons of formula already as well. I had a HORRIBLE time breastfeeding my DS and only managed a couple of weeks, and although I will try again with this LO, I'm prepared to not do it for long again. TBH, I am a bit freaked out by the feeding thing again. Much more so than the birth!! Which is a bit ridiculous isn't it.......

Ferret, you said only 1 of your boobs was leaking now. Is it normal for them to leak a bit this close to birth?

BexJ78 · 11/12/2009 22:30

Shimmer, i have only had one tiny bit of leakage from one bosooom and it happened the other night...and that is it! Think it is like just about eveything else with being pg, some people have it loads and some none at all and i think both are normal?!? I wish there were definite answers to these questions, would make life a bit easier!

Good News ladies!!!!!

I have finally convinced DH to get rid of the giant fishtank!!! (had you all going then didnt I... )
I am sooooo happy, dont even think I could be happier if I was giving birth right now!

As for nipple leakage. There hasnt been any serious leakage I just notice a little stain if I have worn a black bra. Maybe I am normal then if youve only had one side too Bex. I just get paranoid because of my other problems.
Midwife appt today at hosp. Hope she doesnt mention a sweep, im shuddering at the thought!

covycrump · 12/12/2009 10:34

ABF, so you didn't have your baby yesterday either! Even though I know very few come on time, especially firstborns, and it would actually be more convenient to have it early next week, DP and I are a little put out and feeling anti-climactic. Maybe Beffnal had hers - it seems that one out of three due on the 11th surely had to be early or on time. Hope your hospital appointment goes well.

I'm going to bake a big fruit cake now - my theory is that as soon as I put something in the oven that takes 3 hours to bake, labour is bound to start so the whole thing may be wasted; it is the law of such things. And, even if the baby bun doesn't come out of my oven today, at least I'll have the compensation of a tasty cake coming out instead.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 12/12/2009 10:52

Ha ha yes its like when I was younger and used to smoke, I would spark one up waiting for the bus and one would always come round the corner just as I lit it!!
Hope it works for you!

GoldenSnitch · 12/12/2009 12:04

I've washed all the sofa cushions and they're on the line and the curtains are in the machine. I washed the nets yesterday and they fell to pieces so we have to make it over to Homebase later to pick up some new blinds (we were changing them anyway, just have to do it now now!) and I've made DH rent a carpet cleaner to do the lounge carpet.

I may be taking nesting to the extreme today

Oh, and we're waiting for a Tesco delivery too.

If baby is going to come early, it'll be today!

I used to smoke and can back up ABF's bus theory - worked every time.

Milliemuffin · 12/12/2009 13:19

Well, I went on the xmas do last night, turkey was lovely, xmas pud was lovely then woosh! my waters went still sitting at the table!

We were due to stay in a room above the restaurant so I went up to change with a female friend from DP's work (it was their work do), about 2mins later DP came up to see how I was doing and at that point contractions were every 3mins but not hurting. About 10mins later somehow there was 8 women in the hotel room (incl. bar staff on hand with towels and bottles of water, they all got a bit carried away I think!) with me and the general feeling was to call for ambulance (some of them had experienced fast second labours) so we got to the rosie in cambridge (as we were over that way) around 11.30/12 and by then the contractions had stopped and I was just losing lots of water. Ended up being sent home (got home at 4am) but was told to go along to the hospital where I've been receiving my care some time this morning where they just did some basic checks and I have to go back tomorrow lunch for more obs then am booked in for induction at 2pm on monday if nothing happens before then although because it's my second they all seem to think that it'll probably happen naturally today or tomorrow.

I started E.P.Oil x 2 thu night and 2 more fri am so I'm guessing that possibly explains the reason why my waters have gone but i'm not in labour?

Anyway, watch this space.......

GoldenSnitch · 12/12/2009 13:44

Good luck Millie! Hopefully you'll have your baby by Monday. How exciting

Very tempted to pick some EP Oil up now and try it next week just in case I get bumped....

LaDiDaDi · 12/12/2009 14:00

Sounds like something will happen for you over the weekend Millie .

BexJ78 · 12/12/2009 14:56

still no news here. am really hoping something might happen tonight, but think it is wishful thinking!
Millie your evening sounds like it was very exciting!!! let's hope it is the start of something!!!

Stigaloid · 12/12/2009 15:03

I have 5 days to go and am over being pregnant.
