AmazingBouncingFerret · 02/12/2009 14:43

shush.
I just wish I had that first timer naivety about whats to come. (with regards to labour that is)

madmissy · 02/12/2009 14:44

LOL!

ahhh but how good is that final push! god i love that! a 9month wait push worth its wait in gold hahah

AmazingBouncingFerret · 02/12/2009 14:54

Im looking forward to the feeling of "it was all worth it" once the baby is in my arms.
Oh see what youve done! you are making me feel ok about it and I was all for wallowing in misery!! damn you.

madmissy · 02/12/2009 15:05

haha well snap put of it! thats my job lol!

wonder how snitch got on?

AmazingBouncingFerret · 02/12/2009 15:36

Hmmm hopefully she'll be on later and can let us know.

Milliemuffin · 02/12/2009 15:48

Has anyone had reflexology before? Got my first appt tomorrow at 8pm, I'll be 36+4. Anyone know what happens?

GoldenSnitch · 02/12/2009 15:50

Just got back

Well there is good news - placenta has moved up. Still anterior (on the front) but it's no longer low so I should be able to have a relatively straightforward section. Ohh, and she could clearly see 'girly bits' so we're definitely having a girl...

But, I have a LOT of fluid apparently. Should be somewhere in between 5 and 8 cms and I have 9.4!! and her measurements are all weird. Spot on average head size, really short femur length and a massive abdominal circumference!!

DS was 7lbs 9oz at birth but the sonographer thought DD will be more like 9lbs or over

She asked when I'm seeing the consultant (Monday) as if I hadn't already had an appointment then she would have wanted to make one for me to talk about the increased fluid and what it means! Can mean diabetes or a large baby she said.

So now I'm relieved that she seems OK and I should be able to have an nice, easy section but worried that either something is wrong or she's going to come out looking like some sort of weeble!!

So glad I'm never doing this again!

She was so cute though. Looks (from what you can tell!) just like her brother and was playing with her feet on the screen

GoldenSnitch · 02/12/2009 15:57

Should NOT have looked up increased amniotic fluid

AmazingBouncingFerret · 02/12/2009 16:05

Snitch, step away from google now!
Everything is going to be ok.
Im sure it just means she's going to be big.

Scorps · 02/12/2009 16:07

GS - leave google alone. You have just had a hospital appointment, no-one was worried there otherwise you would be in there having this baby now. If you are having a 9lb baby ish, then you will expect more fluid as average baby size is 7lb 8oz; therefore oyur baby will need more. Don't worry at all.

madmissy · 02/12/2009 16:11

STEP AWAY FROM GOOGLE!!!

great that placenta is out the way!

DD2 was much bigger than DD1 she was 2 weeks early and weighed in at 8lb 3oz whereas DD1 was 7lb 6oz 2 days early

whens the consultant appt again? monday?

AmazingBouncingFerret · 02/12/2009 16:11

Scorps put so much better than me, if they were worried they would of kept you in or got you to see a consultant straight away.

Scorps · 02/12/2009 16:12

Also, my first baby was 6lb 11oz, my second was 8lb 1oz. BIG difference!

OP posts:
madmissy · 02/12/2009 16:13

Yeah they would have asked you to go and see someone. Try not to worry! hugs!

GoldenSnitch · 02/12/2009 16:18

You're right - obviously ;) - will not Google anymore.

She did say that if I didn't have an appointment on Monday, she would have made me one but she also said that it wasn't in any way urgent.

Have called the midwife anyway just to check I don't need to come in for urine/blood tests (in case it is diabetes) as they only tested my urine at the last consultant appointment. Just waiting for her to get back to me.

On the plus side, I did read that high amniotic fluid levels could mean that I'll go into labour early cause you get to the 'uterus just cannot hold anymore' stage faster so maybe it'll mean they'll get DD out a bit earlier for me...

madmissy · 02/12/2009 16:23

snitch totally off topic but have you heard about this?
www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/crime/6704752/Children-visiting-Santa-grotto-caught-in-armed-cross-f ire-during-Milton-Keynes-robbery.html

GoldenSnitch · 02/12/2009 16:32

OMG! No I hadn't seen that! Right on that corner where the shop is there is a huge carousel that DS has been begging me to go on every time we've been shopping!! We saw Santa at CP otherwise I would have taken him!

What kind of idiot burglar robs a shop within a shopping center anyway? Surely, you pick somewhere on the outside edge not right in the middle!?

Stigaloid · 02/12/2009 16:48

Had 38 week appt today. All okay - head low, in right position. 4/5's engaged. Had slight spotting though so having to head in to be checked. Am sure i am NOT in labour as don't feel like i am and remember pretty well how painful it was last time so know that when i do feel contractions i will be asking for pain meds asap but they need to be safe etc etc. Waiting for mum to arrive so can collect DS from childcare before heading in to maternity ward. Will keep you posted.

BexJ78 · 02/12/2009 16:54

Good news GS and tke everyone's advice and stay away from google! am supposed to be at yoga tonight, but not going. feel a bit light headed and have eaten a club biscuit and some fruit loaf so hoping i feel better in a few mins. have spent all afternoon wrapping xmas presents thinks it is sending me doolally!

AmazingBouncingFerret · 02/12/2009 17:00

Hope everything is ok STig.

Ive just been wrapping some of DS's birthday presents, just need to pick up his tower of dooooom from my parents house, im not sure whether to wrap it as it is or build it first then try to do something creative with wrapping paper so he can unwrap it and play straight away? Although he is going to his childminders for a couple of hours on his birthday so I could get it built then... gah.
Also had to wrap my bro in laws and nephews b'day presents, I dont know all these people that have kids in December... its just not on.

LaDiDaDi · 02/12/2009 17:32

Pleased that you placenta is out of the way snitch.

Listen to everyone re google and step away, stay on mumsnet though obv.

I have a section date of 21st so getting excited now! DS has an estimated fw of 5lbs 11oz and is very much head down!
