Grrrrr I did NOT want to be posting 40+2, actually - baby, don't you know you were supposed to be early????

Pav I have my fingers crossed that the back ache is for something useful! Just caught up on your DH job thread - how annoying. And what a dilemma. Have you had any word back from the builder / any sign you might actually get money from him?

Hobnob I am so annoyed for you! Maybe today is the day....

Feeling frustrated today, especially as I had a dream that I did eventually give birth, but that they found a 2 month old embryo in my womb when the baby came out, so I had to face another 7 months of pregnancy afterwards!!!! That had better not happen...

TOK lovely name, and congrats to all the new arrivals. I want to be on the arrivals list!!

raggie · 23/11/2009 11:07

katster Cross-posted so I disappeared! Feeling for you writing '40+...' will be so cross if I have to do the same By the way, DH had a weird dream that our LO was born reeeeally tiny and in a glass bottle where she had to keep growing for a bit longer. Weirdly similar to yours!

Would probably mean free nappies for life I guess? [blush Sorry if just NOT the time for jokes]

Disclaimer: I totally do NOT believe in star-signs! (But it's raining and I can't go outside yet )

The Sagittarius Personality

Your child is an intellect. He or she is often possessive but generous with those that are close. A child born under this sun sign is hopeful and impressionable. He or she is quick, enterprising, demonstrative in affection, and loyal. This individual loves liberty and will do anything to obtain it. Because of a firm belief in freedom of speech and expression, Sagittarius children are strong in opinion. Sagittarians also have a psychological outlook on life, always trying to understand what makes people tick.

Sagittarius children love beauty and are often artistic and refined. They tend to take shortcuts, sometimes getting caught up in detail and forgetting the big things. Your Sagittarius is noble, sentimental, and impulsive.

Your role as a parent is to help your child choose friends discriminately; this will set a foundation in evaluating people that will eventually be critical in his or her choice of a mate. Sagittarians like to help people in need, sometimes to their own disadvantage.

Sagittarians are talented in art, education, dancing and ministry. Many Sagittarians are also business people, specifically lawyers.

Famous People Born under the Sagittarius Sign:

Sir Winston Churchill, English Statesman, November 30
Diego Rivera, Painter/Artist, December 8
Frank Sinatra, Singer, December 12
Steven Spielberg, Movie Producer, December 18
Brad Pitt, Actor, December 18

Laugs · 23/11/2009 11:34

I'm booked in to have the SF jab tomorrow. I'll be 39+5. I'm getting a bit nervous about it now. I think it is the best thing, for me, as I'm asthmatic and have had to move on to stronger medication since I've been pregnant (my asthma having been under control on the same inhalers for 20 years ). But now I'm getting worried that it's so close to the due date. What if I go into labour while I'm still recovering from the side effects of the jab - will it be really awful? Those of you who've had it already, did you have any side effects apart from the sore arm? I felt fine with the seasonal flu jab I had a few weeks ago, but obviously this is a whole new virus.

Laugs · 23/11/2009 11:36

They don't sound too bad raggie

skorpion · 23/11/2009 11:37

Good morning from wet and 'orrible Oxfordshire.

Congratulations on all the new arrivals, such lovely names. And everybody seems to be reporting good birthing as well, very happy for you.

Still here, just a few of us rolling around like marbles. hobnob I'm really hoping the end is near for you.

Had a busy weekend - we went shopping to Milton Keynes on Saturday. Managed to get lots of Christmas presents sorted out, very happy about that, although it is the first time we got anything for Christmas in November! But it's probably also the last time we go to MK on a Saturday - it took us over an hour to get out of the bloody car park at the end!!!

Had a bit of a funny turn Friday evening - got really pissy with DH and proceeded on to furiously clean the bathroom and our bedroom at 9 pm! I kept thinking it can't be nesting, don't be so stupid skorpion. But then lo was really active and headbutting my cervix like mad. I've been sleeping on a towel since in case my waters go No other feelings or preminitions, though.

laugs enjoy your first day of mat leave. I've managed to catch up with my work so this week is going to be more leisure oriented.

Sorry for mammoth post - I've missed MN.

Laugs · 23/11/2009 11:45

skorpion that does sound like nesting! I don't think it has to mean labour is imminent though. A couple of weeks ago I was literally running around our flat, trying to clean everything at the same time. And I don't run for anyone!

After getting excited about my first day of mat leave I've just had an email asking me to rewrite something I did weeks ago. Grr. I'm igonoring it for the moment, the cakes are calling me. (I need to get some xmas shopping done too. I haven't even thought about it)

claired21 · 23/11/2009 11:48

laugs I had the vaccine on Sat morning, I'm asthmatic as well. I had a bit of a temperature and dull headache on Sunday but no other symptoms.

The GP said they had been snowed under with an increase in cases over recent weeks so I think it was the right decision.

raggie · 23/11/2009 12:04

I had the SF and normal flu jabs on Saturday too. One in each arm. I was surprised how quick and non-sore at the time they were.

My SF shoulder still hurts a little bit so ask them to put it in your non-dominant arm (they probably will anyway) but other than that no other symptoms - oh I was a BIT hot and sweaty in bed on Saturday night but I didn't associate that with the jab til now. Might be coincidence.

longwayaway · 23/11/2009 12:07

I should call the surgery again about the flu jabs... last time I talked to them they wouldn't give me an appointment and now I wonder if there's any point to making one

Enjoy the mat leave Laugs Also need to do some Xmas shopping - keep forgetting that I won't have much time for it later!

OP posts:
Laugs · 23/11/2009 12:07

Thanks claire. Hopefully any side effects I have will be mild too. It's horrible having to make these kind of decisions isn't it?

katster37 · 23/11/2009 12:07

Hmm - interesting re SF jabs - I haven't even been offered it. Did you have to ring up or did MW/GP approach you? At 40+2 I am not sure I will have it to be honest. But then it seems weird that babies less than 6 mo old whose mothers weren't vaccinated weren't pregnant will be the only ones not immune.. Hmm, I really don't know what to do.

Raggie aaaaw, well done you for keeping baby in a bottle!! That was v clever!! Was it a wine bottle?!

I am not one bit impressed with this weather. Gross. Feel totally in limbo today. Am bored of cleaning/tidying - bee doing that for 4 weeks solid! Might have a look on line and see what Christmas shopping I can do from the comfort of the settee (or birthing ball...)

ursigurke · 23/11/2009 12:13

Hi Ladies! Paula has just allowed me to read through two pages of postings... and I forgot everything already
So, congratulations to all those new mummies and babies! I'm sorry that I have completely lost track of my personal "congratulations list".
For all those, still waiting: it will happen soon! It just has to! Hobnob, I am really thinking especially of you!

Just returned from hospital where had scan and sweep - have been given a 60% chance of spontaneous labour within next week but have induction booked for 1st December...
I know I shouldn't have got my hopes up but I feel so disappointed - I'd set my heart on a water birth at MLU but I can just see that slipping out of reach now and I'm so utterly terrified by the thought of sections and epidurals... I'm trying to stay positive, I know there's still time for him to come out on his own but even the BH have totally stopped now.

Come on baby - I know its raining but its not that bad out here!!

Apologies for self indulgent moan but sometimes its better out than in! Hope those who've popped already are enjoying snuggling their new bundles and those who are waiting - I know how you feel

BeckyBendyLegs · 23/11/2009 13:18

Embarrassing post baby brain alert: I rang up to book Toby's registeration just now and firstly I forgot our home phone number to give them, and then I forgot what my mobile is. I am soooo embarrassed.

Come on babies

katster37 · 23/11/2009 13:45

Shoesies I feel for you. I am only 40+2 but feel pretty similar. My hospital appointment isn't until 41+2 or 3 so goodness knows when they would book an induction for me. I really wanted an early-Nov baby!

BBL what did the receptionist say? I'm sure they thought it was funny, and are used to baby-brain phonecalls for booking registrations!! DId you get it sorted?

I have felt really sick and faint all morning. Can feeling faint be a sign?!

Usigurke glad Paula is giving you time to catch up on MN!

Comma2 · 23/11/2009 13:59

So this is where you all are. Didn't open the old thread as was only 1 new message and computer slow-- missed the link accordingly. Glad you are all still at it.

Not nearly enough brain space to remember all, just want to say congrats to the new mums! And pav what a day, found your work-thread. I have all my fingers crossed you DH finds something very soon. These decision games can take it out of you.

Sympathies to all the poor overdue girls - I remember what that was like with DS, and it was AWFUL. I woke up every morning and burst into tears because I hadn't gone into labour overnight, and I had another day of dragging myself about, hoping desperately for labour to start.

I am really loving all these names, too. (We went for Arthur Peregrine James in the end - I think his name is longer than he is!)

raggie · 23/11/2009 15:38

Aww, thank you all you lovely mummies popping back in to see us rasp-leaf-swilling, curry-eating, sex-'attempting' desperadoes. Makes it much cheerier!

katster I had to ask about the SF jab as they didn't send me a letter even though pregnant ladies are supposedly no.2 on the priority list (after under 9s with illnesses apparently she told me). Luckily I asked on Fri and they were having a clinic on Saturday 10.45-11.00 so just popped in and had it, easy-peasy.

You just reminded me that I haven't been contacted about the flu jab either (and forgot to mention it to the GP last week ), even though theMW said she'd given them my details some time ago. So gave them a call and will have it done tomorrow.

tamlin that's such a nice name combination, very grown-up and sophisticated. Definitely passes scarlotti's test of adding QC after it

What is it with this cervix-bashing?! It feels like I'm having it scraped with talons. I know it's supposed to soften but this is a very painful way of tenderising...

Laugs · 23/11/2009 16:29

Yes, it's nice to have all you old-timers back! I hope you're all managing well.

Go on, indulge us fed-up latecomers - if you had another day of freedom left before the baby arrived, what's the one thing you would do?

I think I might treat myself to a long bath this evening, followed by a ridiculously early night.
