Last chance for a Scorpio, after this weekend they'll all be Sagittarians!

Do you think we could do a roaring trade renting out babies for nativity plays?

Tamlin · 10/12/2009 13:40

Lucy! Lovely name.

Ninjacat, it does get better, I promise.

Stormfly · 11/12/2009 14:14

Well done skorpion and DH! Many congratulations on the safe arrival of baby Lucy. Ninja - I'm sure the local schools and churches would jump at the chance to borrow our LOs, wonder what the going rate is??

BeckyBendyLegs · 11/12/2009 14:46

Is there anyone left to drop their sprog? Or are we all done now?

longwayaway · 11/12/2009 15:06

No official word from grace or sass yet - unless there's been FB announcements?

Hi All. Just back from hospital.

So, as mr skorpion said, baby's here! After a long and unproductive labour Lucy finally arrived by emcs on Wednesday. We didn't get to labour at Chippy, transferred to Horton immediately as they had to monitor her hr.
The staff at the horton were just amazing and our beautiful tink is worth everything that happened and more.

I will post a full story at a later time. She seems to be eager for my milk to come in and today's been pretty much all about boobs for her. I can't put her down anyway and still can't believe we made her and she's all ours. Newborn cuddles are just the best.

Thank you all again, this thread has been just fantastic, I too am a bit sad, but of course this is only the begining. See you very soon on the other one. Just need to get over this hormone storm and stop dropping tears on the keyboard.

Hoping to hear from grace and sass soon, too!

longwayaway · 11/12/2009 16:30

Congrats again on Lucy ,skorpion - hope the recovery is going OK. And just let those tears flow, it feels good, doesn't it

Lovely to hear from you Skorpion and great to hear of little Lucy's arrival. I hope you're recovering well from the CS and managing to get some rest in between feeds.

I am bloody knackered! DH has been out for 4 hours, doing supermarket and christmas shopping. It's my first day alone with 2 DCs. DD and I made salt dough decorations for the xmas tree. She did some painting. We've watched a video. James has fed and fed and fed. I really cannot wait til bedtime. Dreading DH going back to work.

Ninjacat · 12/12/2009 10:33

Mastitis! owwwww

I never new how bad it could be. Woke yesterday morning feeling fine then was suddenly struck down with uncontrollable shivering, temp went up to 38.3, covered in sunburn like rash, pains all over. I thought I had toxic shock and dp said I went down hill so fast he was terrified.

Have ab's now. If they don't kick in by Sunday I have to go to hospital for iv ab's.

Sending dp out for a savoy cabbage later, the spring greens are not quite doing the trick.

BeckyBendyLegs · 12/12/2009 11:44

Oh Ninja poor, poor you. I hope the antibiotics kick in soon.

Laugs · 12/12/2009 17:16

Hope they have kicked in Ninja, that sounds horrible and scary. I think a damp (warm or cold) cloth is supposed to do the same as cabbage.

scarlotti · 13/12/2009 09:25

Ninja hope you're feeling better now

skorpion · 14/12/2009 16:41

ninja I hope it's got better by now, poor you.

Lucy and I are still learning to feed, my milk has just come in and the whole business is just so tricky. We saw the mw today and she advised me to move her just a centimetre or two to the side and it made so much difference! How can such an apparently simple thing be so technically complicated?

Still no news of the remaining two? Hope everyone is well and happily enjoying their bundles of fluff.

Ninjacat · 14/12/2009 18:09

On the mend thanks but brain is made of cotton wool and ds1 has a very nasty cough/cold and is off school.

Has anyone else lost the ability to communicate? It is honestly a real struggle to even type.

Alfie has put on 10oz in 10 days. I think I am being zapped of all life force on a regular basis.

I hope everyone is well. As soon as I return to human I will try to be more attentive x

skorpion · 14/12/2009 18:18

ninja I know exactly what you mean. I feel like I've been away for a week, and not just out of the country, but out of the planet.

We went to register Lucy today and I forgot my own signature...

Laugs · 14/12/2009 20:47

Skorpion I'm also finding it hard to believe that something so natural as breastfeeding can be so hard and so painful. Although labour is the same.

Ninja Glad you're feeling a bit better and hope DS is too.

Anyone else dreading DH/P going back to work? I can't even think about it. Only a few days left

BeckyBendyLegs · 15/12/2009 11:59

Laugs my DH went back to work after two weeks and I was dreading it. But we coped. You just do. Luckily he's stored up all his holiday so he had 2 weeks off starting Friday.

I found breastfeeding, each time, the most painful and most difficult thing I've ever had to do. I hugely regret not being able to keep it up each time. I am in much admiration for those of you that do keep it up, esp those who have problems. I know that once it is established it is a wonderful thing.

Laugs · 15/12/2009 13:12

I know I am lucky in that he'll go back to work for a week and then have time off again for Christmas but I still can't even think about it.

Having a bad day today. I've spent the morning in bed crying my eyes out after a bad night. Finally peeled myself out of bed at 12.30 to collect the post, only to find a letter from the Health Visitor saying she is calling round for her first visit at 2pm. Bloody brilliant - I am currently doing a wonderful impression of someone who is not coping.

Ninjacat · 15/12/2009 16:34

Laugs you are coping. There is nothing wrong with staying in bed if that's what you need to do.
Your body has just undergone a major trauma and your life / sleep / relationships etc have all completely changed. It's going to be bumpy to start with so be kind to yourself and if you need a bit of help that's totally understandable so make sure you ask for it x

It is early days though.

Laugs · 15/12/2009 17:43

Thanks Ninja. I feel a lot better after my big cry this morning. I just felt so tired as James fed pretty much constantly all yesterday evening and through the night. He's wanted a lot of milk today too, but not so much so I've had a chance for a break. The HV was ok, but they always put me a bit on edge and make me feel like I'm going to be caught out for something!

BeckyBendyLegs · 15/12/2009 18:18

Laugs you're doing a great job. Like Ninja said having a baby is a life-changing event, physically, mentally and emotionally. HVs make me nervous too! I feel like I'm in a job interview.

Ninjacat · 15/12/2009 19:58

Glad your feeling a bit better Laugs.
My HV phoned to say she'd be here Friday 9am. My last HV for ds1 was with me for five years and saw me through some awful times so I've really only positive experiences of HV's.

Laugs · 15/12/2009 23:18

I'm sure they are really helpful Ninja, but I can never help feeling like Becky, as if I'm being tested. She says: "Ooh, you've gone to a lot of effort with your Christmas tree", I hear: "Why have you spent all this time on your decorations when you've got a newborn baby?" Paranoid? Me?
I'm feeling a lot better though, thanks for the reassurance you two.

BeckyBendyLegs · 16/12/2009 07:39

My mum used to be one too ... and because of that I feel like she is judging me every time I have a baby and how I am handling things.

Laugs · 16/12/2009 10:50

I feel like that too Becky, except my mum wasn't a HV! She was a SAHM until I (the youngest) went to school though and I always feel like she judges me for not doing that. Oh well, we can't be perfect can we?
