Last chance for a Scorpio, after this weekend they'll all be Sagittarians!

claired21 · 22/11/2009 16:29

Hi grace - yes QM's for me. I think it's mid January they'll be closing so unless I have the longest gestation ever, I'll be delivering at QM's.

Next time around should be Southern General. Where are you delivering this time?

hobnob57 · 22/11/2009 16:36

Still here, I'm afraid

As predicted, everything slowed down tremendously as soon as I got up, despite having a couple of contractions from hell just before I got up. It seems to be that lying down is the trigger for me. Except that I can't see how that is a helpful position for labour

So, I've still had infrequent contractions which have largely been manageable without TENS all day. I've just been knackered. I had a shower, tried to lie down and had a horrendous contraction, gave up and walked painfully slowly to the shop with DH to buy pancakes for lunch , ate said pancakes and then had a snooze in my gliding chair. It's not a great position for contractions either - the baby feels really high under my ribs during them in that position and doesn't seem to move down with them. Maybe it's just stuck.

Poor DD had been at MIL's since yesterday lunchtime, so she is being brought round to day hello soon. DH is rattling round the place not knowing what to do with the free time.

Congrats misssese and easyeggs. Why can't my body just get on with things like everyone else's?

TOK · 22/11/2009 17:02

Evening ladies. Finally got the chance to come and share my good news!

Baby girl, Anya, born by ECS on Monday 9.29pm after a loooong labour! She weighed 8lbs 10!!! She is just beautiful and such a good baby. Sleeps and eats.

I'll save my labour story for the post natal thread! Why people choose to have cs I will never understand. The recovery is so frustrating, but worth it, obviously!

My ds hasn't taken to the new set up too well and has almost surgically attached himself to dh. But hopefully will get better with time.

Haven't had a chance to catch up on everyone elses news, but Congratulations to all of your new arrivals and good luck to those of you still hanging on! xxx

Laugs · 22/11/2009 17:02

Oh hobnob how frustrating! You must be totally fed up. Maybe you should just get some rest while you can (If you can), as you will need your energy soon enough. Remember, every day you don't give birth makes it more likely that you will the next day. It can't actually go on forever, much as it feels like it.

claired21 · 22/11/2009 18:57

Congratulations TOK, hope you are recovering well. Another beautiful girl's name! x

VenusInfers · 22/11/2009 19:26

Hobnob I totally understand your frustration, at 42 wks I just felt like my body was letting me down by not going into labour - though I didn't have to experience the on-and-off painful contractions. You must be shattered by now. Only sorry to lose my 'most overdue' crown because it means someone else has had to wait even longer. I really hope your wait comes to an end soon, and naturally if at all possible. Come on Baby!!!!

Congrats to TOK, easyeggs, missease and esp beepbeep who, if memory serves, had an impressively short and straightforward labour. Sorry if I have missed someone out, still playing catch up on the thread. Have yet to post my birth story on the postnatal branch, hope to do so tomorrow.

longwayaway · 22/11/2009 19:35

Congrats on Anya, TOK!

Walked about four miles today. Not feeling anything except for the soreness in my leg muscles. Ah well... exercise is always good, right?

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 22/11/2009 19:51

Congratulations TOK! and welcome Anya, another lovely name! We are, i have to say, in this november group full of well named babies! There is not one single name I do not like, they are no boring names either, not one! Very impressed.

DH is not going to Abu Dhabi. It did not work out , someone else got the offer first and took it. Probably for the best as would have meant leaving in about, erm, 4 hours!

helips · 22/11/2009 20:07

Congratulations tok and missese both gorgeous names!

pavlov sorry your dh lost out on the job but maybe it is for the best. At least he will be around for the birth of his son, you will get the support you need and hopefully something better (and closer to home!) will turn up. Fingers crossed...

hobnob you poor thing, you really are going through it aren't you. Hopefully tonight things will start up properly, I will be keeping my fingers crossed for birth announcement tomorrow!

I have had a rubbish day, not sure what is wrong with me but am feeling a bit hormonal. Ds has been whingey, the weather is crap, friends let us down this morning and were meant to come round but didn't and only let us know when they were running late so wasted the morning waiting in for them. Now ds won't go to bed, as per usual. Same old story everynight, put him to bed and he gets right back up again and shouts down the stairs, am so fed up with it. Aaaarrrggh! At least dd is being the model baby!

Naetha · 22/11/2009 20:39

Hey all - I know I've hardly been on this thread (or any of the predecessors - no time!) but my EDD is Thursday, but I'm booked in for an induction on Weds due to SPD.

Congratulations to all those that have already got their LOs - you're making me feel all wobbly!

Commiserations to those still waiting - I went over with DS and it was SO annoying!

I can't believe it's all gone so quickly though, and that I'll have another gremlin to look after by the end of the week!

Laugs · 22/11/2009 21:45

TOK Sorry I x-posted with you earlier. Congratulations on the birth of Anya - what a lovely name and she sounds like the perfect baby too

Pavlov Sorry things didn't work out for DH and Abu Dhabi. In the throws of labour (and the weeks to follow) you will be glad he is here I'm sure, but I can see it's also disappointing. The pay would of course not be the same, but could he try to get a Christmas job just for the next few weeks?

Helips Sorry you're having a rubbish day. Hope tomorrow is bright and sunny and full of fun for you.

Hi Naetha, I remember you from a while back. You must be in quite a bit of pain from the SPD. Hope you're managing ok.

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 23/11/2009 08:01

Naetha - i remember your name!

laugs/helips DH will not try to look for work now til after christmas, We have resigned ourselves to the fact that he would not be working over this period and agreed he should give looking a break for a couple of weeks and take advantage of being able to be here for me DD and new DS. Money will be tight, but manageable (would have been fine if not for builder [grrr]). This Abu Dhabi job would have been one of those opportunities that comes up rarely/never and we would have been foolish for him not to take it. How often do you get the chance to earn between £3-5k in 5 weeks? But, he was not looking for it, so while we are disappointed after making a tough choice about whether to take it or not, its not the end of the world. We were not expecting or relying on it. The job was not meant to be.

I have an achey lower back, and some pressure down below, but shan't get my hopes up! I also had a dream last night that I went into labour and we had to get an ambulance, and I got out for a walk to ease contractions and lost it and had to walk to the hospital. I was in Bristol and was looking for the 'Casualty' hospital, asked an old lady who had no voice for directions, told her i was in labour and she could not give a toss, gave me some vague directions and went on with talking to her old lady friends! It was quite frustrating, as I couldn't find a payphone, after realising i had the camera in my pocket, instead of my phone .

grace09 · 23/11/2009 09:28

Hi Claire - yes i'm going to southern. They're moving into the brand spanking new bit in december so i suppose that would be one positive of hanging on till then. The birthing pool in the old bit looked a bit minging to be honest.

Morning all!

I'm not even due yet... Next time I have a baby I am timing it for the start of the month so I don't have to be left around at the end of the thread Maybe we'll have to start playing some games to keep ourselves warm in here. Volleyball, anyone?

sleepless Nice to hear from you and glad things are going well.

Pavlov I agree that if the lack of income is not urgent, then it's great that DH can be off in the first few weeks.

Ninja What are saggi babies supposed to be like? I know when DD was born everyone kept saying 'Oh no, she'll be a scorpio!', but of course she is lovely

No signs of impending labour here today. I was awake for 3 hours in the night, just because I couldn't sleep.

DH started his paternity leave today, but forgot to turn off his alarm clock, so we woke up at the usual time. About five minutes later I got a call from one of the community MWs telling me my MW wouldn't be able to make it by today and could I go to their clinic across town on Wednesday? I better not be pregnant on Wednesday.

Laugs · 23/11/2009 09:57

hope you can get back to sleep and have a nice lazy day longwayaway. DH is most put out he has to go into work today as all weekend I've been feeling like something could happen, so I think he'd already mentally started paternity leave.

Today is my first day of maternity leave too! Going to take DD into town for coffee and cake just because I can't think of anything else to do (she is starting to think that every time we leave the house we get cake )

Hi All,

Can't catch up or type much now, but will be back soon to do so (need to rig laptop up in bed as sitting down is a bit sore!!). Just wanted to let you know I had a beautiful baby girl at home in water on Thursday. All was and is well. Thank you all for your support on the long journey since Feb/March! To those still waiting, good luck and it will happen! Congratulations to all those arrivals I haven't caught up on x
