iggy Hope the paper bag is working.

Based on what you say I suggest you look at:
Out n About nipper - cheap, light, reliable, but not a travel system
Quinny Speedi - top quality, also a travel system
Phil & Teds Sport, Dash or Vibe (depending on your budget) - very flexible, can be travel system, can convert to a double buggy easily if/when you have a second child
Mountain Buggy - very popular and reliable, also a travel system, a bit heavy in my opinion

iggypiggy · 11/01/2010 13:06

pony ooh much thanks for suggestions - was feeling a bit like I didn't know where to start...going to google them now...

Cosmosis · 11/01/2010 13:18

Sorry that wasn?t supposed to be so abrupt, got interrupted by work, how dare they!
What I was planning on going on to say was that the baby doesn?t care if things are new or not, and I?d rather get better quality 2nd hand stuff if I can. I am also lucky in that I have a lot of friends who now have toddlers / early school years children and are looking to pass on all their baby stuff!

iggypiggy · 11/01/2010 13:19

Shame all my mates are BESHes

Cosmosis · 11/01/2010 13:24

V bad planning on your part Iggs

givecarrotsachance · 11/01/2010 13:27

I'm with you cosmo - even though I'm not a Yorkshire lass by birth, living with a Yorkshire hubby and son does mean I'm a bit more "penny conscious" than I used to be!

Slings/carriers - I've mentioned my fav, the Mei Tai, but it's really personal so if you can try some it's best.

Just back from my nuchal scan. Dating me at 12+6 which is physically impossible so I guess it's just big so I need to stop the chocolate!

No results at all and they say 10-14 days for results which is a lot longer than I'd been told before which is really frustrating.

Still, we've waited this long...

OP posts:
iggypiggy · 11/01/2010 13:34

Great news rots

No results at all?? I got the scan results as I was being scanned.. odd...

givecarrotsachance · 11/01/2010 13:48

I know, I mentioned that, thinking of you, and they said that don't do it at our hospital. Every one is different and it's down to how long they've been doing it. She implied that not all the sonographers are trained in interpreting the results - just taking the measurements. That may not be right but it's the impression I got.

OP posts:
iggypiggy · 11/01/2010 13:50

Fair enough - I guess you only want a professional/ someone trained interpreting the results...

Shame tho.

Also shame you have to wait so long. No idea what normal amount of time is to wait tho...

givecarrotsachance · 11/01/2010 14:17

I know, it's really frustrating, but it can't be changed so I'm just gonna have to endure...

Never mind. On the very positive side they took a good look at the limbs and it looks like all is perfectly fine there - we saw full arms and elbows and what looked like fully formed little legs. We were more worried about arms than legs as it seems to me that a person can live without legs better than arms. So that's a huge relief!

Crumbs,

1/4 past 2 in the afternoon, I've been in work about 2 hours total with the long trip out to the scan and I'm already exhausted - and it's only Monday!

I forgot to mention, the physically impossible due date is now 20th July.

LC was a few days early so I'm not concerned although I would have preferred a later than my estimate rather than earlier EDD as I don't want to be hassled into induction. I'm not worried though.

OP posts:
iggypiggy · 11/01/2010 15:34

Same as mine rots

givecarrotsachance · 11/01/2010 16:23

We're eating too much choccie, eh iggs .

Seriously, I'm trying to cut down calorie intake as I BALLOONED with LC and still haven't lost the weight. I started this dropped dish a size 16, and started LC a size 12/14, so I really don't want to end up an 18/20 if I can do something about it.

LC was a biggish baby so maybe this will be too.

My date has always been 20th July tho

iggypiggy · 11/01/2010 17:14

I wish i would stay away from dog/ pet threads... they make my blood pressure rise...

Cosmosis · 11/01/2010 19:21

What's got your goat Iggs? Shall I sort em for you??? Shall I?

CUNextTuesday · 11/01/2010 19:31

I have an ice cold glass of wine in my grubby mitt

skihorse · 12/01/2010 07:56

iggy what type of ignorance goes on over there? I daren't read them - I'd probably end up releasing the hounds or something.

Cossie I loved that link, thank you!

Wine makes me boak, coffee makes me boak, skanky people smoking in the office carpark makes me boak, the new bloke who's moved in to our half of the building and smokes cigars makes me boak, hot food after 6pm makes me boak. Can someone please pass me rice & a lettuce leaf? Oh noes, they are the worse candidates for food-poisoning. Anyone for an ice-cube?

iggster Seems your dear papa was bang on the money wrt whine flu vaccs...

skihorse · 12/01/2010 08:52

I am "tired and emotional". I've just reached for a sandwich (part of my lunch) because it's nearly 10 and I'm going to die of hunger. Anyway, my jailbait gave me the WRONG lunch and instead of giving me a box full of ham, tomato, lettuce and mustard mayo sarnies I've been given a box of indonesian leftovers. I know I can microwave it for lunch but it's not what I ordered. Also not very handy for snacking on.

Moan. Moan. Moan. Moan.

skihorse · 12/01/2010 09:00

Oh, and whilst we're on the subject of having a bloody great fucking moan. Does anyone out there want to tell me what the freaking fuck is going on with my nipples? When I got in to the bath last night they firmed up and with the increased size in areola my "nipple region" seemed to becomee about 2" long and the size of a fucking conference pear. I nearly cried. I was absolutely bloody astounded. Now clearly my body is making the necessary adjustments and Julian is just going to think "nom nom", but might I re-iterate? WTF?

Ponymum · 12/01/2010 09:31

Poor Ski.
I have found that one thing which eases it a bit is frozen yoghurt or fruit ices, like Soleros. I buy in bulk and keep them in the freezer.

And I have cheesy bits on the end of my nipples. Very difficult to wash off and I can't exactly scrub there. Is this some sort of bizarre preparation for the dairy production facility which is being commissioned behind the scenes?

skihorse · 12/01/2010 09:45

Funnily enough, frozen berries with greek yoghurt does go down well.

haha - thanks for the head's up wrt cheesy bits!

givecarrotsachance · 12/01/2010 09:47

ski are you going to the docs to ask for anti-emetics? Not sure they can help with your nips though . Sorry you're feeling so bad - I really feel for you

iggs yesterday's post was eaten for some reason - I posted to say sorry, I didn't mean to say you were eating too much even though I clearly did, I misunderstood your post to mean that your EDD was pulled back stupidly and your babe was bigger than expected, rather than my EDD is now the same as yours. Sorry.

Anyway, someone mentioned (IRL) that I can tell the MW that the date is just not possible and stick at least to my LMP date which is a few days later - and maybe even persuade her to go by my ov dates which is 2-3 days later still - meaning we're talking about a week's difference! That could make a big difference at the other end if they're pushing me to induction.
