I can see my baby kicks now as well..I love it!! I lie with my top up half the time now just to make sure I catch each one lol...DP thinks I'm slightly mad!!
'm soooo xcited, we have a definite name for our lil one....Jude Alistair Charles...sightly longer than we originally thought, but we wanted to put DP's granddad's name in there as well (Charles). My days just getting better , can't wait to see Katie Price going in the jungle tonight either, so gonna get dd ready for bed, get a nice bath, n get ready 2 settle down for the night! x

lineky · 16/11/2009 20:03

Loving the kicks, haven't 'seen' one yet but will probably start looking now
Gor my scan on Friday - we've decided not to find out sex but I will probably be having a good look and guess anyway!

Rtuff · 17/11/2009 09:20

Well i had my 20 week scan yeaterday and i'll be adding to the blue side! Another little BOY for me. Congratulations Rtuff. I'm a bit of all these little boy scans. My scan is not til next week. I can't wait. I have two girls and can't help but hope for a boy this time, but trying not to think about it.

Mistymoo · 17/11/2009 09:49

Congratulations all you who know what they are having. It's not an option for me (unless I pay for it privately) as I have had my one and only scan at 12 wks, unless there are some complications.

Although I don't want to know what I'm having it would be nice to have another scan just to see how they baby is doing.

I hope you are all keeping well.

tostaky · 17/11/2009 10:37

Having my scan on Friday... not sure if I am hoping for a boy or a girl...
It is making me feel anxious as I am worried I will be disappointed with a boy (already have a DS) then again my DS is so great, i wouldnt mind having the same one!
Im trying not to think about it and not getting my hopes too high... Also we havent found a name for a boy yet....

Im sleeping with my hands on my belly all night long!! So nice to feel those little kicks...! Also, i keep telling myself that i am not really due in April (which seems so far away) but in march (im due 1st april) and march is very soon!

Also i need to keep my weight under control... i was doing so well until week 12-13 and since then ive been eating far too much...

What is everyone else offering to nursery staff for xmas? Homemade choc truffles with a couple of bottles of Champagne to share between them all?

PumaGirl · 17/11/2009 10:57

Hi all,

Got my scan today ..... so hopefully some news later that all is well and also which flavour I'm getting. Very exciting.

Mixed feelings though as ExP (you know, the one who walked out when I was 10 weeks) has decided to come too. Haven't seen him since then.

Not sure how I'm going to react. Gibbering wreck or angry fishwife. Hopefully neither. But you never know with these hormones.

Wish me luck ......

thehuntress · 17/11/2009 10:59

Hi all

I haven't written for a while. Was on hols last week - we went to Cyprus for a long weekend. The weather was lovely. The sea was a bit too cold for me to swim in, although that didn't stop DH and DD. But the pool was fine and it was so nice to go for a little swim. But back in cold London now and at work full-time[sigh]

Tostaky you sound like me - I'm due April 4th but since DD was a couple of weeks early I've been telling everyone I'm due late March. And weight gain has also slightly accelerated over the past few weeks

I had my 20 week scan yesterday and all was well. I already knew it was a boy from a previous scan, but it was nice to get it confirmed again. And he looked quite healthy!

I feel like I'm in the home stretch now. I had such a horrible first four months of this pregnancy with sickness. But now I'm feeling great, lots of energy. I even managed to mostly fight off a cold that has hit my DH and DD quite badly. Roll on March (I mean April )

And PhantomPlopper hope your week has improved - it must be tough with your DH being away but you must be very proud. I don't know if I could manage. I'm in awe

spaghettina · 17/11/2009 11:04

Hi everyone, I'm pretty new around here (been lurking mostly!)

Have updated the list. Like rumpleteaser i'm also an expat, but living in Italy, where I'll be having the baby.

It's quite a different system here, most people go to a private gynecologist as you don't get assigned a midwife on the national health. Also pain relief here seems to be all (i.e. epidural) or nothing and pretty hit and miss in terms of availability. We shall see...

I've got my 20 week (or should that be 21 week) scan this Friday and can't wait! DP is hoping for a boy but I have felt it's a girl right from the start.

stinkypinky · 17/11/2009 12:28

Thinking of you today PumaGirl. Hope ExP behaves himself, and doesn't spoil what should be a magical day. Hopefully this means he is more likely to take his responsibility as a parent seriously.

I have my scan on 3 dec. I would like a boy as I have a girl, and will not be having any more (feeling my age). I want to know what it is so I can prepare myself for it's arrival - I would hate to feel a twinge of disappointment at the birth if I did not know. DH would like a boy too, but we would both be delighted with either (after a few moments anyway). DD wants a girl.
Having been told I could not have kids, I am pretty blessed anyway

stinkypinky · 17/11/2009 12:35

tostaky - are we meant to spend that much???

I felt generous giving a tin of quality street last year

I looked with interest at the thread about this the other day (cannot do links, sorry)

I figure giving them £600 a month is pretty generous, plus as a nurse, I am not allowed to receive gifts from clients

nicnacinoonoo · 17/11/2009 13:07

is it a london thing giving that much to nursery staff?

ds doesnt go to nursery so maybe its a bit different, he just goes to the free pre school for kids age 3 and over. i will be making some krispie cakes with him and sending them in for the teachers and kids. we live in the north west and i suspect there will be quite a few parents who dont do anything at all.

they'll get a christmas card too does that count??

good luck with the scan pumagirl

Bettymum · 17/11/2009 14:14

Good luck Pumagirl, thinking of you. Hope all goes well with the scan and with exDP.
tostaky last year I gave the girls in DD's nursery room the nicest tin of M&S biccies I could find, I'll be doing the same this year. They don't allow home-made things to be brought in (e.g. for birthdays), I guess because of allergies and nuts and so on.
spaghettina welcome My sister lives in Northern Italy although has actually given birth to all three DCs in the UK, with the first she couldn't believe it when the English midwife touched her tummy as they just don't do that where she is in Italy, it's all done by scans. Quite different.
Princess I love your choice of name! Specially like Alistair.
I am getting loads of kicks now, it's really fun. I was at a boring conference this morning but I kept getting tickled by Bub which kept me amused . Everyone at work now knows I'm pg as my bump has suddenly popped out from nowhere.
Hope everyone is having a good day.

thedollshouse · 17/11/2009 14:18

Welcome to all the newbies!

Last year when ds was still at nursery I just gave each of the nursery staff a tiny box of chocolates, (about £3 each) most people gave biscuits etc and quite a lot didn't give anything.

I really like ds's school teacher but I don't think I will give anything this year, there so are so many teaching assistants and helpers that I lose touch with who is who and it does get very expensive. I will get ds to make some homemade christmas cards and leave it at that.

tostaky · 17/11/2009 14:57

I guess i dont want to appear tight especially as i didnt know they were doing a birthday for my DS 1st bday - otherwise i would have contributed toward it... I feel such a bad mum... but i really didnt know they were organising something!!!

DP thinks the bubbly is too much anyway so chocolate and a card it will be!

No news from Pumagirl yet - i know it's still early, but im impatient!!!

PumaGirl · 17/11/2009 16:52

Hi again,

Thanks to you all for your thoughts today!

Scan went well, baby is absolutely fine and looks like the thread is finally turning more pink! Yes, a girl ....

ExP and I behaved ourselves so it wasn't too painful. He still really doesn't want the baby though. Sad really.

Good luck to everyone else with scans coming up - or nursery presents to buy. Sounds like a minefield!

AdelaideJo · 17/11/2009 17:16

Is there anyone on the board who isn't finding out the gender?

I keep feeling totally like an odd one out in not wanting to know ....we didn't last time and are going to repeat things I think...come on, there must be someone wanting a surprise!

lineky · 17/11/2009 17:36

I am going for a surprise AdelaideJo my scan's on Friday.

PrincessTweetz · 17/11/2009 19:11

Thank you Bettymum..we were gonna call dd Alistair if she was a boy, so felt it fitting that we chose it as a middle name this time...plus dp is a huge Ally McCoist fan!!! haha
Congrats Rtuff, and PumaGirl...we really are getting through this pregnancy aren't we!! Well, I know there's more than one, but it kind of feels like a joint thing lol!
I wrapped most of my xmas pressies last night...figured I should make a start before my belly ets too uncomfy...I still got bits to do, n can't be bothered , so I'm glad I've started...I ight just make it in time for xmas eve hehehe x

AdelaideJo · 17/11/2009 19:17

yeay lineky

Mistymoo · 17/11/2009 20:32

AdelaideJo mine will be a surprise too as I'm not having anymore scans unless there is a problem. Even then I wouldn't be told.

Neeko · 17/11/2009 21:05

Congrats Pumagirl Adelaidejo I'm having a surprise too as I didn't want to know at my scan last week and will be actively asking them not to reveal anything when I go back at 32 weeks. Since the focus is the kidneys though it might be hard not too see.

Tostaky Glad to hear you're cutting down on the nursery present. I was at the champagne. I definitely went into the wrong sector - secondary teachers get nothing!

tostaky · 18/11/2009 05:46

From my blackberry in bed cuz I can't sleep!
What's with the kidney neeko? A friend had a kidney problem on her baby and he is 1.5 now still gets monitored but he is absolutly normal. Apparently he will grow out of it.
Congrats pumagirl on having a a girl. Is it the thoughts of responsabilities that freak ur exdp?

Not sure if you've noticed but there's an august thread now!

shelinka · 18/11/2009 06:12

congrats pumagirl welcome to the pink side!
