dani87 · 11/11/2009 20:28

how strange is dat neeko mine is at 1.30 to good look to you to hope it goes well!

chegirl · 11/11/2009 20:32

THis is a long shot but thought I'd ask.

Anyone else go deaf in one ear whilst pg? Its happened to me EVERY time! Just the right ear and not all the time but frequently enough to be a right PITA.

I suspect its related to pregnancy rhinitis that some women get. I think instead of having a permanetly blocked nose I get this intermittent blocked ear!

Tis very annoying as I can hear my own voice echoing in my head. Very distracting and sometimes it catches me buy suprise and I find myself shouting!

shelinka · 12/11/2009 08:45

chegirl I also go deaf on and off in my right ear. It happened in my last pregancy, and it's happening again now. Last time it went away only after the birth.

It's like the blocked ears you get when you fly, but I can't relieve it by blowing my nose or sucking sweets! It's very annoying as I hear my voice (loudly) in my head, and it's hard to concentrate on what other people are saying. I think it's to do with muscles relaxing, or something like that. Anyway, glad to hear it's not just me!

BelfastBloke · 12/11/2009 08:58

Just wanted to say, if any of you saw my Pregnant Women are Crazy thread on AIBU, I wasn't talking about any of you.

ReneRusso · 12/11/2009 10:01

BelfastBloke, yes you're right pregnant women are crazy and irrational, but she's probably really hoping to loll around all day and relax. Hope you both have a good day

Snowtiger · 12/11/2009 10:06

Thanks belfastbloke, we won't take it personally, honest !! You're right, though, we are all bonkers and it's absolutely our prerogative to be so. Just don't make us angry, you won't like us when we're angry...

Ahem...!

Am starting a new thread about a little quandary I'm in regarding nursery and pre-school places for DS1, if any of you have time to read and comment I'd be most grateful.

Hope everyone's feeling well and good luck to you ladies having scans today x

thedollshouse · 12/11/2009 10:38

chegirl I had pregnancy related tinitus (sp?) in my last pregnancy. It was a constant whoosing sound for me which made it harder to hear properly, it peaked at around 22 weeks then gradually got better and disappeared as soon as ds arrived. My sister works in Audiology and spoke to one of the Audiologists who said that hearing problems are very common in pregnancy and in rare severe cases women can even go completely deaf!

Bettymum · 12/11/2009 11:19

Spooky dani and Neeko my scan is today at 1.30!! Good luck for yours x
Just had the swine flu jab, complete chaos at the surgery as they're just doing walkins so the whole waiting room was jammed. Anyway my name was called and I went in, the nurse asked if I was having chemotherapy or anything like that, I said no, then she said "and you're not pregnant, are you?" I said yes, that's why I'm here!" And burst into tears . Turns out they are only doing women over 16 weeks (although one of the girls in the waiting room was only 15 weeks pg), apparently some practices are dong only over 20 weeks, so at 19 weeks plus one day I just got on with it and had it. Waiting to see if I get a very achey arm now. Hope it was the right thing to do.

Neeko · 12/11/2009 12:29

Good luck today bettymum and let me know if you have any reaction to the jab.

pillia78 · 12/11/2009 12:59

Hello all, I haven't got my scan until the 1st of December, boo hoo. I am having loads of what I assume is stretching pains today but surely now I am on baby number 3; there is nothing left to stretch!!! We have just sold our house and the buyer wants to be in by December which means we will be frantically packing soon! Oh the joys of pregnancy when working full time with 2 small ones and a house move!!! At least i'm not bored though?!

flybynight · 12/11/2009 13:07

I had horrid stretching pains on Sunday, pillia, and this is my fourth. I stayed in my jammy bottoms all day - bliss! I don't think I've ever done that before. Husband was appalled though.

My scan isn't until 10 December. I think I'll be 22 weeks by then.

tostaky · 12/11/2009 14:13

Pillia how do you manage!!!? You are one wonder-woman! Im working only 4 days a week and im knackered all the time (only one DS)..

I went to bed at 9pm last night as I have a really bad sore throat and i was probably running a temp too though this morning the temp was gone.
I was just a complete zombie last night, I had a big bowl of soup while DP took care of DS. Then I just waited for DS to be in bed and sound asleep before i got myself in bed with socks on, and one of DP's jumper... and i didnt go to work this morning... I said to my boss i had a midwife appointment

dani87 · 12/11/2009 15:03

hi all and hope everyones scan went ok 2day! well had mine everything was ok apart from couldnt find the sex out as baby bean was in an awkward position as really wanted to no the lady doing the scan said possibly a girl but not to go out and buy pink as shes really not sure!. Also has written in my notes that it was a very difficult scan to do! so will be waiting for my 4d scan which is nov 30th hope those having scans find out what your having

Bettymum · 12/11/2009 15:35

Hope your baby bean behaves itself next time dani
Our scan went very well, got a good look at the little Bub and yes, he's definitely a boy! I told the sonographer that I'd had my jab this morning, she said that the entire radiography dept at the hospital had their jabs on a Thursday, and on the Friday nearly everyone had a sore stiff arm or fluey symptoms, but a few people were absolutely fine. My arm is getting a bit sore but a nice cup of tea seems to be helping. Hope I don't get fluey as we've got a big ball to go to tomorrow, only our third night out together since DD was born nearly 22 months ago! (note to those expecting your first - having a baby doesn't have to mean you never go out again ).

hoops997 · 12/11/2009 17:12

It's nice to hear some ladies have had their 20 week scans, who would have thought we are already 5 months into it!!!

It defo looks a bit of a blue thread, I have my scan tomorrow morning and cannot wait, I'm so excited .....I'm hoping for team pink!!!

dani had a bit of a scare went I saw a sad face on your thread but it's good to know your scan was ok, obviously a shy baby!!

chegirl · 12/11/2009 17:48

shelinka and dollshouse you dont know how nice it is to know I am not the only one!

People look at me all when I tell them about my pg related ear problems.

Its not like its the first time, its pretty consistant, this is the 4th time its happened!

Trying4Baby1 · 12/11/2009 20:10

Hello everybody. Just adding myself to the new list as it's a while since I've been on and my due date has changed now after my scans. Can't believe some people are having their 20 wk scans now, I've got another 4 wks to wait! Glad to see I'm not the only one expecting #1 as well!

Snowtiger - which board is your thread about nurseries on? I too am having a dilemma about DS and nursery/pre-school. He'll be two young to get into most pre-schools when the baby is born, but not sure I want him to go to a nursery as most will only take him for full days, and as he's never been away from me, I really only wanted him to go for a morning or two a week. Not sure what to do!

Neeko · 12/11/2009 20:25

Hi everyone. My scan was very clear and we saw lots - though not the sex - but baby has a small problem with his/her left kidney. I'll be scanned again at 32 weeks as a precaution and I'm not going to get worked up about it. Glad dani and bettymum's scans went well.

Good luck tomorrow Hoops Hope you get a pink one.

Toady · 12/11/2009 20:33

Hi Neeko, glad your scan was nice and clear, must have been lovely seeing your baby, have to wait until 2nd december for mine, still debating whether to find out sex or not. Sure the kidney thing is just a precaution and like you say try not to worry about until the scan at 32 weeks,

hoops997 · 12/11/2009 21:01

hi neeko thanks I hope it's a girl but have a feeling it's a little boy! Sorry to hear about a little kidney prob, I'm sure it'll sort itself out......going to sleep now, it feels like christmas eve when I was a kid!!

Neeko · 12/11/2009 21:09

Thanks to both of you. I've done a bit of googlin and I'm actually quite reassured. Off to watch octomum now and count my blessings

wellieboot · 12/11/2009 21:12

Hi everyone, great hearing about all the scans! Mine isn't for ages, I'll be nearly 22 weeks when I have it!

Had the swine flu jab on Tuesday and my arm is killing me. It swelled up and I have a massive purple and red bruise - lovely. Also felt ropey all day yesterday with headache but better today. Did anyone else get a headache from the jab?

Good luck hoops and anyone else who has their scan soon!
