BIG NEWS!!! Hospital just called with the amnio results, all looking good so far although they have to do a further DNA analysis which will take another week, but the girl that we saw on the scan at the amnio is a - BOY! DH thrilled, I am totally gobsmacked. What am I going to do with DD's old pink clothes??!

Snowtiger · 04/11/2009 16:26

Congratulations Bettymum that's wonderful news. I'm sure you'll find someone nearby who's having their first DD who will gladly take the pink clothes off you! Boys are great - how lovely you'll have one of each. I've got a scan on Sunday to find out the sex of this one and I'm hoping it's a girl so I'll have one of each, but I have to say, if it's another boy that's fine, boys are pretty straightforward little creatures!!

I had an appointment with the consultant obs & gynae today which was good - heard the heartbeat which is always reassuring. She did advise me to have the swine flu vaccine though - said risk of swine flu turning nasty (i.e. into something life threatening like pneumonia) is much higher when you're pregnant. I'm still not 100% convinced but if I'm offered it I'll probably have it; DS goes to nursery and picks up bugs and viruses like they're going out of fashion so it's probably wise.

Just received two emails from two friends I've not heard from for ages, and both have just had miscarriages. It's rather put the wind up me; so glad I've heard little one's heartbeat today. The anxiety about that never seems to go away does it? Or is that just me?!

stinkypinky · 04/11/2009 19:12

Chegirl Be proud! Only 2 of us in 40's.

flybynight · 04/11/2009 20:23

Bettymum, that is terrific news. Hope the remaining results are as good.

chegirl · 04/11/2009 21:39

stinky we will have to compare notes on zimmer frames

nicnacinoonoo · 05/11/2009 08:03

glad everyones having good news.
if i have a girl ill do you a swop bettymum, i've kept all of ds's old clothes too in the hope of being able to use them again.

sorry to hear about your friends snowtiger, my best friend has just had an ectopic pregnancy and had to have 1 of her tubes removed. she's had a really rough time with it understandably. im trying not to mention my pregnancy too much but its really hard not to considering its ruling my life at the moment ha.

PumaGirl · 05/11/2009 08:56

Hi All,

Glad more generally good news around!

chegirl and stinkypinky - I'm in the over 40s club too. Just haven't added myself to the list as I'm too old to figure out how to do it

So, if anyone is feeling generous it's Puma, 41, 31 March, #1.

Now off to find a new zimmer ....

Every now and again someone mentions missing something because they were on a different page.

I know some people prefer to read a thread in different pages, but I also know that some people don't realise that you can change the preferences: you can set up your threads so you can read it all in one page.

How do most people read their threads - in pages or all in one page? And top to bottom OR bottom to top?

I read all in one page, with the newest at the bottom.

Hi everyone. Not been on for a while - I did post on the old thread just before it disappeared so was worried I'd broken it for a while there! Glad everyone seems to have positive news. I'm just back from my 16 week check with the midwife and heard the baby's heartbeat for the first time so that's exciting - not to mention reassuring.

What's the crack with the new list? I haven't had time to read all of the recent posts. I'm assuming it's the same as the old one but with our ages added (gosh, that makes me sound really quite thick!). I'll assume that's the case and add myself.

dani87 · 05/11/2009 13:51

nicnacinoonoo im not far from there but wish i had some way of getting it as its so gorgeous!!!

Bettymum · 05/11/2009 14:04

It would be a total bargain - especially as it was £1300 new .
Had a call earlier from the other hospital that has my notes, the DNA test has been done so we're all in the clear and no more tests, hurray. Can't wait to see my little boy at the 20 week scan next week!

stinkypinky · 05/11/2009 15:37

Yo Puma! Three of us oldies!

Had my swine flu jab today. Sore arm and headache, but sooo glad to have had it
Am I the first?

wellieboot · 05/11/2009 20:42

I have my jab booked for next Tuesday.

I'm not too far from Stratford either but as I already have a cot can't really justify buying another one even though the set is very cute and a bargain!

PumaGirl · 05/11/2009 20:49

Thanks for adding me BelfastBloke! V kind.

Rtuff · 06/11/2009 09:25

Stinkypinky How are you feeling after having the jab? I would like to have it but am really worried about anything going wrong. I feel i should as DH works in London and is on public transport every day, ds goes to nursery/pre school 3 x a week and my mum who i see a couple of times a week is a nurse and although i don't work i think it's enough to make me worry about it and after reading the webchat the other day, it's made me feel more in favour of the jab... There are so many people (which i was at one point) so against it, it's nice to see someone who's actually gone for it!

OP posts:
lineky · 06/11/2009 17:21

I too was totally undecided and erring on the side of not getting the jab but after reading the web chat am now booked in for Monday. I work at a school and cases have been steadily growing over the past week.

ThePhantomPlotter · 06/11/2009 19:27

I'm getting the jab on the 19th, have finally decided that the pros out weight the cons.

Had my 16 week check up today and heard the heartbeat, was lovely!

Hope everyone is doing well.

It seems to be going quite quick don't you think? I know we have months left but the past 4 months have flown by!

tostaky · 06/11/2009 21:08

Went to the GP and he asked me aout the jab. i said no. He gave me a piece of paper to sign.
he said i could change my mind whenever i wanted and he didnt try one minute to convince me otherwise.

Did you see that article in the Guardian about the link between acid folic and asthma in children. Apparently taking pre-nats vits with acid folic between 30 and 38 weeks increase by 40% the chance of the baby to develop asthma later in life...
better switch pre-nats then, though im not sure there are some without folic acid...

stinkypinky · 06/11/2009 21:12

I am fine, thank you. Jab gave me an instant headache, but that went within 30 mins. Still got a very sore arm. Both these symptoms are very common.
So relieved to have had it, but have the odd moment (and little cry) over possible side effects on baba. Still 100% sure I did the right thing for me and mine. Sent a client home today with suspected SF, confirmed by end of shift.
My midwife colleague listened into baba - good strong fast heartbeat, and it kept wriggling out of the way, so seems fine.
I urge you all to give serious consideration to having it, as a nurse and a fellow mummy-to-be. Make sure you find the facts out for yourself from reputable sources.

PhantomPlopper - flown by? Longest 4 months of my life!!!

hoops997 · 06/11/2009 21:24

I agree phantom the last 4 and a half months have flown by, before we know it, christmas will have come and gone then we'll all be in the final trimester

lineky · 07/11/2009 09:50

I agree with stinkypink Longest 4 and half months of my life. I think it will start going faster now I've stopped chundering and am back at work.

ray81 · 07/11/2009 13:45

Hi, can i join? Am 15+4 today, had my appointment with the MW on thurs and heard the babys HB which was lovely. I do have a doppler so have heard it before but is reassurring to know what i am listening to is correct.

Dont have my 20 week scan until the 9th DEc and that feels like an age away, cant wait to find out the sex, i have a DD who is 7 so would love a DS but would be happy either way.

Realy suffering from siatica in my back which realy realy hurts has anyone else had this and if so was there anything that you have done to be able to help it?

Dont want to add myself to the list am still so paraniod.
