Neeko really glad it went well, have always been religious about doing my pelvic floor and after 2 'natural' births it is even more important! I love the sound of the tubigrip for the bump! Hope it all helps you and good luck for the scan. The baby's head is on my left (Can feel hiccups there!) and feet on my right but seeing Midwife tomorrow so will see what she says.
Adelaide so sorry to hear about all the upheaval and hope you get sorted soon, it must be very unsettling for you.

Toady · 19/01/2010 20:48

Rtuff

I am going on holiday on Friday to Teneriffe and just bought a few summery sale maternity clothes at Mothercare so could be at yours too. The chances of going into labour are very slim and I am sure there would be help if you did. Have you got your letter from the doctor saying you are fit to fly?

Mistymoo · 20/01/2010 09:07

It's great hearing how everyone is.

I see some of you are away on holiday (toady and rtuff). I hope you have a nice time.

Our family are thinking of a big holiday together this summer. I said the earliest I could go was the end of June (this is my third dc). I'm due on 20/4, am I being too optomistic? I will have loads of help and my other dc's are 9 and 6.

I don't normally take kids out of school but thought as it was the last two weeks of term (we're in Scotland) then I wouldn't mind.

Any one got any thoughts?

My other concern was how do you book a flight with a baby that has no name!!!!!

Rtuff · 20/01/2010 10:32

Thanks Toady will get myself off to Mothercare to have a look...

Mistymoo We have just booked a holiday with family for June 4th I'm officially due 1st April but am having a section a week earlier. Therefore my opinion is obviously that you are not being too optomistic. With regards to booking a flight for baby bump, (it may depend on who you are flying with, we are flying with BA) they were really easy about it and just said phone up when baby is born to confirm details for them to issue a ticket.www.britishairways.com/travel/child/public/en_gb
and click making a forward booking if you are pregnant...

Hope that helps!!

Hi,
Has anyone else measured 'big' for their dates? I had my 28 week check today and the midwife said that she wants me to go for a growth scan next week to measure the baby fluid levels......
before I get into a flap about gestational diabetes etc just wondered if anyone else had gone through this?

Snowtiger · 21/01/2010 11:54

Hi ladies
Jennysbean I went to see my midwife yesterday too and measured 'big'. I'm 28+4 wks and measured a smidge over 30cm, so the comment was that it was 'a bit big' but nothing really to worry about. I wasn't asked to go for a growth scan though, so am wondering how much bigger than the 'normal' ratio (i.e. same in cms as wks) you were? Can you phone the midwife back and talk it through with them, ask whether you should be worried etc? I know how tempting it is to scan all the information available on the internet and get into a tizz about it all.

Have to admit diabetes hadn't even occurred to me (something new to worry about! Hurrah!), my main concern is that DS1 was born 9 days early and was already 8lb 1oz so if this one's even bigger than DS1 was, he could be a ten pounder!

Bettymum · 21/01/2010 14:19

Hi Jenny,
I had the opposite in my last pregnancy - I was small for dates at one of my later appointments - but the midwife said if I was still small at the next check she'd send me for a scan, she wouldn't have done it based just on one measurement. That may be irrelevant but I know that one-off measurements can be out a bit sometimes, they try and look for trends. As it happened by the next appointment all was back as it should have been so I didn't need a growth scan.
Whatever happens hope all is well with you and the baby.

Hi there!

Anyone is feeling tired all the time?
My blood results came back saying I was anemic but ive been taking iron tablets religiously for a week now and im still shattered? Good thing is I work only 4 days a week so tomorrow I can leave DS at nursery and stay in bed all day? I fell asleep on the tube this morning and im fighting all day for energy? im trying not to drink more than one latte a day, a few days ago, I had one in the morning and then another one around lunchtime and baby was kicking like mad all the afternoon? I read later that because a baby is smaller and his system is not yet mature, caffeine stays much longer in his body than in ours bc it takes him ages to process caffeine?.
On another note I went to Gap at lunchtime to buy a new pyjama bottom.. They are so comfy and light! I had one from DS's birth but I bought a new one just in case the one ive got is in the wash or something.
I know I have another 10 weeks to go but I feel like im ready to pop already!! I really wouldn?t mind having a March baby!!! When do we start taking raspberry leaf tea and eating pineapple 10 times a day (sex is out of question for me)?.?

woopsy56 · 21/01/2010 15:26

Hello girls,

Im the 'newbie' of the group. Im due 16/04/2010 and expecting a pink bump. This is my first baby and so far have had a pretty good pregnancy. Im 27+6 days and have just had to book my 28 wk check up with doc as midwife... who i will say i have never met is always booked up. What im worried about is, will the doc carryout all the same tests the MW would? I got weighed when i was 10 weeks 4 days and i weighed myself yesterday and have actually lost 6lbs.... is that something i should worry about? Im overwight so im not sure if this weight loss would be an issue?

Thanks girlies xx

ohloverguts · 21/01/2010 16:17

Hellooo everyone... im new too! Im due 17th April with my first...a boy! Day after you woopsy56! Wonder which of us will be first hehe! I dont really know anyone thats had a baby yet in my group of friends even though im 25!! So thought id come and have a nose around here and talk to people who are a bit more interested in baby stuff! Hope everyones doing ok! xx

lineky · 21/01/2010 16:35

Hi all I am tired and grumpy
Friends that were supposed to be coming for Sat have decided to come on Friday so they will be here all weekend and it's thrown me into a right tiz. Weekends are so precious at the moment for just slobbing about doing nothing!
I measured slightly small last week like you bettymum the midwife is going to wait till next appointments measurements before deciding if I need a scan or not. I am not worried as it was just with a tape measure and all of my previous scans have been bang on date and size wise.
Anyhoo hope everyone is well and welcome newbies - roll on April

woopsy56 · 21/01/2010 19:29

ohloverguts ~ i hope its me that delivers first, i dont do lateness and i am impatient so best she turn up safely when she is meant too and not make me wait ;)

How has ur pregnancy been so far? x

AdelaideJo · 21/01/2010 19:31

"Small for dates" ladies - at the end of my first pregnancy the midwife said my bump was pretty small - all done with a tape measure too. I ended up having a tiddler, just 6lb 2 ounces......so try not to worry too much, my DS is tall and gangly now at nearly 2 years of age...it was just one of those things .

ohloverguts · 21/01/2010 20:22

woopsy - i know what you mean, im soo impatient! but it seems like so many people go way over their due dates so im kind of expecting to have to wait even longer!

my pregnancy has been pretty good so far, apart from bloody heartburn!! although i went shopping to that baby event thing in asda yesterday and went a bit mental buying things without thinking about the fact that i needed to carry them home (haha) and i think i pulled a muscle in my back cos it has killed me all day! but at least ive had an excuse to laze on bed with a hot water bottle to try and help! think it is finally time to start taking things a bit easier!

hows your pregnancy going?? got any complaints? have you really never met your midwife?! cant believe she is booked up every time! im guessing your doc will do the same as what the midwife would do but i would still rather see an actual midwife so i can fire a ton of questions at her! my mw is really nice thank god, im so glad i didnt end up with a meanie! ive gotta go have my second bloods done next week and my rhesus injection which both make me feel ill thinking about them as im a weed! i dont get to see my midwife for another couple of weeks but i cant waaait to find out what position the baby is in and finally start getting my bump measured (i hope)!

sorry for the rambling...i am utterly bored from having no human contact all day thanks to confining myself to the bed and dp doesnt get back till 10! xx

Ooops..sorry everyone..taking up nearly the whole bloody page with my double posting!

PrincessTweetz · 21/01/2010 21:15

lol ohlover!! Myheartburn's a pain in the bum too...think I have another lil hairy beast in theer...altho seein as he is a boy, dp says he feels slightly sorry for him in case he inherits his baldness from a younfg age hehe.
I must have a really chilled out mw as I haven't even been measured yet, tho I am grateful for not having to keep going back for growth scans as in the first pregnancy. My measurements seemed small with tape measure, which panicked me, but then when I got to growth scan on the same day, they couldn't understand why I had been sent, as I am a bit of a twig (!!) and they wouldn't really expect me to have been any bigger. Anyway, dd was born a very healthy 7lb7 1/2oz, which makes me hope lil Jude isn't going to be much bigger!!

thedollshouse · 22/01/2010 09:30

Ohloverguts I had my rhesus injection the other day, it honestly doesn't hurt at all, I had a blood test on the same day and that was much more painful.

Bettymum · 22/01/2010 10:31

Hello ladies!
Well after all the heartache as to whether I should have the swine flu jab, I just had the letter through yesterday inviting DD to have her jab! DH is really against it but she has had bronchiolitis and suffers with chesty coughs so I think she should have it. Will have to think about it over the weekend...not sure what the risk is now as it doesn't seem to get much coverage nay more so I don't know if it's gone away?

ohloverguts · 22/01/2010 12:28

princess - i hope i do have a baby with a head full of hair! i always think for some reason that they look much cuter haha! i had a boyfriend when i was about 19 who was the same age as me and he had a serious friar tuck balding problem, and it really ruined his confidence so he wore a hat CONSTANTLY haha. i think i would feel so sorry for my son if he got bald really young!

dollshouse - im glad the injection doesnt hurt! im not sure why but i was imagining it to be some giant monster needle. hehe.

Mistymoo · 22/01/2010 18:39

My previous 2 dcs both had a lot of hair so am expecting this one to be the same. I had to use a comb with their hair straight away as the baby brush didn't touch it

Jennysbean · 23/01/2010 08:55

Hi,
snowtiger and bettysmum thanks for replying. I went for the scan yesterday and everything is fine, thhe fluid volume was normal so all well, just a ' good size baby' ( which is exactly what they said about DD although wrote LARGE BABY on my notes at the time!! )
I got the bonus of seeing the wee one's face up close and eatched him yawning away for a while, looked so like my DD , chubby cheeks already........
Heartburn is a pain ideed, I am practically taking gaviscon intravenously....
xx

rumpleteaser · 23/01/2010 10:47

ohlover I'm also 25 (well, in 2 wks) and due the day after you with 1st one!
Don't know the sex yet though everyone's convinced a boy cos my tummy's gone all hairy!
I'm enjoying my pregnancy apart from backache and hip ache.
I got my last scan/check up with doc here in Bulgaria next week (snow permitting) before heading to the UK for birth and pram shopping and scoffing chinese takeaways! Maybe doc will confirm sex.
I've not really had heartburn as yet, just the odd twinge (touch woood).

pillia78 · 23/01/2010 19:07

jennysbean I have also measured really small with my two previous pregnancies and am already measuring 2 weeks behind this time. Both my boys were really good weights but it is really worrying when people start questioning it so i'm glad everything is okay!
Tweetz my DS2 was born with a full head of blonde hair and the midwife said she had never seen a blonde baby with so much hair! I now love babies with lots of hair!!

pillia78 · 23/01/2010 19:10

Woopsy welcome! I wouldn't worry about the weight loss because as far as I am aware the baby will take what it needs from you! I lost 2 stone with DS1 as I had such serious morning sickness all the way through!!
