Pilia I'm expecting this one to be born with a decent amount of hair..It would definitely take me by surprise if he came out bald!!
Rumple oonly today I was looking at the wriggles going on in my belly (can't help it hehe) and dp commented on the amount of hair around my belly button..as well as how nearly 'inside out' my belly button has now gone!! I didn't think I was particularly hairy...altho I do seem to have one stray dark hair that is just growing in length haha...I've also noticed that again with this pregnancy I haven't had to wax my moustache since about month 3...but yet need to do it all the time when I'm not pregnant...sorry if I've just given anybody nightmares haha x

Trying4Baby1 · 24/01/2010 08:02

Hi everyone. It's been a while since I posted but according to my last scan I'm expecting a girl. DH a bit disappointed at first but I've said to him that she'll probably be a right daddy's girl and he's perked up now. I'm so tired just now as I've been sleeping really badly. Is anyone else in the same boat? I just seem to wait up really early regardless of when I go to bed. Was asleep for about 12.30 last night and I woke up at 5.45am and haven't been able to get back to sleep. Was looking forward to not having to get up this weekend

PrincessTweetz · 24/01/2010 10:36

I'm exactly the same!! I'm not the best of sleepers at the best of times anyway, but I'm soooooo tired during the day as well. I started to feel really lazy, but then reminded myself I only have 9 weeks left (woohoo!!), and run around after a 2 year old, and clean up constantly after a grown man (!!), so it's bound to take it out of me.
DD is now fully toilet trained, and is dry completely at nights..she wakes up herself tto go to the toilet, but obviously I take hher when she needs to go cuz she's not qquite 2 1/2 yet, plus my toilets downstairs. She insists on being carried downstairs too, and I've asked dp if he'll do the toilet runs, but he never seems to hear her!! The thing with me is I can never get back to sleep straight away once I've ebeen woken up either
Getting to sleep is a nightmare as well..I've started to try and stay up til around 11ish, cuz I find I have a better chance of not waking up myself in the early hours, but as soon as I get into bed, I feel like I have to go back to the toilet about 20 mins later, and dp disturbs me when he gets in bed too..so I have to go toilet AGAIN!! Grrrr!! And surprise surprise, dp fails to hear dd when she wants to get up at 6 every morning as well!! Bloody men!!
He has insisted that he will get up when Jude arrives so I can at least have a couple of hours after doing the last early morning feed...we'll see how long that lasts for hehe x

Snowtiger · 24/01/2010 21:15

Hi ladies
Like a lot of you I've got terrible heartburn and am swigging Gaviscon from the bottle! I was the same with DS1 and he was born with a full head of blonde hair so I'm expecting DS2 to be the same.

Tweetz I'm impressed with your 2.6 year old being fully toilet trained and dry at night! My DS1 is 2.5 and has just started toilet training himself, in effect - gets a real kick out of doing a week on the potty and will do so at any opportunity but will still wee on the floor right next to the potty if taken unawares so don't think he's ready to go from pull ups to proper pants just yet. I'm in no hurry - I figure 2 children in nappies is easier than 1 in nappies and 1 crying because his pants and trousers are wet...!

My sleep's suffering too - DS1 is being a sod little tinker in the evenings, not settling for a good hour after he's been put to bed, and usually getting up and legging it into our bedroom 2 or 3 times a night, then up at 6am and bouncing around. I'm shattered. In a way it's probably no bad thing though, as I should be totally prepared for night feedings etc. with DS2 - must be a nightmare to go from sleeping through the night regularly to having a newborn again. That's what I keep telling myself at any rate.

Woopsy i'm envious of your weight loss. I weighed myself this morning and at 29 weeks I've put on 1 stone and 11 lbs. I feel enormous. Probably due to the vast amounts of Toblerone and Wispa bars I'm eating. Just hope I manage to lose the baby weight as quickly this time as I did with DS1.

Also hoping / thinking that I won't go full term - DS1 was 9 days early and I feel so enormous this time I can't believe I've still got 11 weeks to go. My EDD is 11th April but I'd be quite happy to welcome the little fella in March if he fancies coming early. Just as long as I've got the freezer defrosted and refilled with ready meals in time, and the hospital bag packed. Yikes.

Hope you're all well ladies, can't believe how quickly April is coming around...!

Neeko · 24/01/2010 21:40

Hi. hope you're all well. have ben lurking but haven't had much time to post.
I have my 32 week scan tomorrow to check the problem with the baby's kidney. Fingers crossed it'll all be ok. I'll let you know.

PrincessTweetz · 24/01/2010 22:44

Hope evrything goes ok Neeko xx
Snowtiger, I've been toilet training for ages!! She was virtually dry every day, would always poop on toilet, but occassionally wet during day, then we went on holiday and everything changed!! When we got back, she kind of lost motivation, but soon picked up again. In the last few weeks, she kind of took it upon herself to tell me when she needed to go toilet during the night..I was never bothered about nightime training at her age, just wanted to re-crack the days! Anyway, I realised that most nights her pull ups were dry, but at some point during the first hour of being up, she would sometimes wee in them, so I thought I'd try her in pants at night time too. It was a natural progression on her behalf really, rather than me 'pushing' it on her. If she had wet during the night, I wouldn't have hesitated putting pullups back on her..(I'm really not a pushy mum!!) She's actually done far better during the day now she is in pants at night...bless her!
I keep saying I need to have a good few meals in freezer...but somehow think I'll still be saying it 4 weeks after having him!!

Neeko, hope everything goes well with the scan today.

Hats off to all of you with toddlers and toilet training, I don't think I would be able to cope! I started maternity leave today, ds is 5 and at school full time so hopefully I will have time to unwind now.

I am huge, no idea how much weight I have put on as I don't want to know, I will wait until just before the birth to weigh myself. I keep getting funny looks from people when I tell them that I have 11 weeks to go as I look ready to drop!

Suffering from pain in my back, thighs and pelvis at the moment, I will mention it to the midwife next time I see her as I am finding the back pain particularly debilitating.

Hope everyone is well. It doesn't feel long now. Yikes!

Neeko · 25/01/2010 11:50

Hi all. thanks for your good wishes. The baby's kidney is just the same so we'll need to wait and see after the birth but not life-threatening or anything so trying to keep it in proportion.

Baby is measuring about 5lbs already - eek! Think I'm in for a whopper!

Bettymum · 25/01/2010 13:18

Neeko, sorry things hadn't improved but at least you know, and the baby can have the appropriate help when it arrives, if need be.
thedollshouse, I feel big too - I went to get a couple of new bras last week as mine were really tight and uncomfy, when the lady walked in to do the fitting she said, let me guess, nursing bras? I had to say no actually, I've got 11 weeks to go! Let's hope I don't need even bigger bras in the next 11 weeks.

ReneRusso · 25/01/2010 13:50

Neeko, sorry to hear the kidney hasn't improved. I hope your doc was reassuring about it. Well done you for keeping it in proportion. If baby is measuring 5lbs, must be nice and healthy though?

flybynight · 25/01/2010 14:05

Where in Oz are you, helenwombat? I had my dcs 2 and 3 in Manly, NSW and they do things quite differently from the UK, I found. My mum and dad came over when DC2 was born, but not DC3.

Bad news about the scan, Neeko. What are they saying the course of action will be from here?

tostaky · 25/01/2010 14:11

Hi all! Glad to hear I'm not the only one who look (and weight) huge!!
I'm counting down the days until I start my mat leave? 17 to go?
A question for mums of toddlers - what do you do when your LO is sick and you have to go to work?? (and of course, no family around)
I gave DS some a big spoon of calpol this morning just in case (he didn?t have fever this morning but did have some at 1am) and DP is taking him to the GP at 5pm. I feel so guilty I should stay home with him? but I have meetings etc? and DP too?
This is going to be a headache next winter, with two LOs? maybe we should have a nanny instead of putting them to nursery but then we don?t have a spare room for her?

On another note, we've been to mothercare yesterday bc I wanted to actually try the Phil &Ted double before buying it off eBay. And I am glad I did! Because I don?t like it very much, although it is very light for a double, it folds big compared to other and is not as easy as other to fold either.
So we are going to go for a mothercare Hoxton double pushchair. It is easy to use and to fold, it folds small, it will fit in my hallway (unlike the P&T), back seat lies flat, easy to manoeuvre, and "cheap". Still expensive but at least for the price of a second-hand Phil & ted I can have a brand new pushchair!
We are also looking for a toddler bed for DS and we went to IKEA too and there is no bed that would fit the space in DS bedroom? the smallest length we could find was 140cm and we have got space for 130cm only?
Now we were thinking about putting a travel cot instead cuz that would fit, but if DS is toilet trained, he would need to get in and out easily so travel cot=no good? not sure how to rejiggle the room to make more space?. Or we need to move home? but that?s expensive!

thedollshouse · 25/01/2010 18:04

Sorry to hear about the scan Neeko, pregnancy is such a worrying time, at least the problem has been picked up early and the doctors will be able to make decisions about a treatment plan.

tostaky I know what you mean by lack of space. We are having to make a bed for ds as his room will not be big enough for a conventional bed.

PrincessTweetz · 25/01/2010 20:28

I'm buying a new bed for dd as well..not til Jude will be around 6 month-ish though, as that is around the time I'll be putting him in with dd...eek...soo many concerns about them waking each other and the lil fella not even here yet lol . We are buying a toddler bed that measures the same size as her cotbed does, she will use the same mattress that she's always used, & the bed shes currently in will go back to being a cot, with a new mattress in it for Jude. That way I don't have to move her from where she's used to sleeping, as I think it's best for her that she stays against the wall she's used to, and Jude fits into her room as it were.
So, I.ve just folded up my first lot of baby clothes all washed and dryed, ready to be reput in the drawers!! Just got bedding to do, then in about 3-4 weeks I'll freshen up the moses basket stuff, the bouncer, and the crib bedding! (Reusing a few things from dd) i think I've overdone it slightly today Belly feels a lil sore, but ok..had a lovely hot bath, and feel much happier now I've reorganised the airing cupboard and stuff..well gonna shut up now, rambling a bit..dp is watching some crap on tv, and I never can seem to get a full sentence from him at this time of night!!

hoops997 · 26/01/2010 10:59

hello everyone, just checking in to see how it's all going, sorry to hear about your scan neeko I'm sure everything will work itself out, can't believe baby is 5lbs!! tostaky I'm on maternity leave already and it's fab, I have just been diagnosed with SPD so find it really hard walking, that with not sleeping is not good

Anyway I'm moving into a new flat soon and looking forward to setting up mini-hoops room. When is everyone packing their bag? I don't want to do it too early cause I know I'll end up re-packing it over and over but I don't want to be caught short!!

Baby is moving all the time now but I'm bit worried cause he's lying transverse and hope that he will turn over the next few weeks cause I have a heart-shaped uterus and he might get stuck if he doesn't turn and the I'll have to have a cs which I really don't want.

I'm really glad everyone is doing ok and we haven't got long until this thread turns into a birth thread OMG!!!!!!!

PrincessTweetz · 26/01/2010 20:52

In case anyone's interested..Tesco are doing a great offer on TommeeTippee Electric Breast Pumps..were £80, down to £40...I've been well and truly a Princess today...DP treated me to all my mummy bits, a nice big bottle of bio oil to see me through the rest of the pregnancy, the pump, even though we hadn't budgeted for that until nearer the birth, and a new coat, that I've had to get in a size 14, and I know I will deffo not be wearing it much after having baby....aww, sometimes I feel sooo loved hehe
Hoops, i'm planning a homebirth, and know that if I get a hospital transfer I'll need a prepacked bag to take in with me, but that is making it really hard for me to pack one!! Obviously the advantage of a homebirth is that I have everything at hand all organised at home, but then I keep thinking of the things I'll need in hospital, and am worried I'm gonna double up on stuff, or be left with a suitcase full of stuff that needs reputting away or rummaging through as and when I need it at home...grrr!! Good luck with the move!

wellieboot · 26/01/2010 22:49

Hi everyone, haven't been on for ages but thought I'd pop on to say hello! princesstweetz thanks for breastpump info - have been umming and erring whether to get one (have dodgy squeaky hand pump from last time!) will definitely get one if it's £40.

Thinking about beds and what to buy, are we supposed to replace moses basket and cot mattresses with new ones? What is everyone doing?

Neeko · 27/01/2010 09:11

Hi all
Sleeping bags are fab. i'll definitely be using those again. I've already packed my labour bag and looked some stuff out for the after birth bag. it'll all go downhill from here!

Bettymum · 27/01/2010 10:27

I am going to try and pack a hospital bag this time - last time I ended up packing it at 2am between contractions when I had to transfer from planned homebirth to hospital. Not the best time to do it, forgot loads of stuff that would have been useful (nightie, towel, slippers...) so I will be packing one this time in advance and leaving it in the bedroom where hopefully this time I'll be having a homebirth!
I can't remember what I put on my birthplan, but whatever it was it all pretty much went out the window in the end. Will still write a brief one this time.
helen I totally recommend the sleeping bags! You can cuddle your baby in them and put them straight in the cot, they can't kick the sheets/blankets off, I think they're fab. DD is in a warm one at the moment as it's so cold here, she's always lovely and toasty in the mornings.
wellieboot I think the guidance is to buy a new cot/moses backet mattress for every baby to lower the risk of cot death.

stinkypinky · 27/01/2010 11:29

Sleeping bags get my vote, but only good reputable makes, as the tog can 'vary in accuracy' with other cheaper versions (IMO)

I am reusing mattresses as they have plastic covers on - just buying new one for pram (second hand pram, open weave mattress cover)

Am now on third course of antibiotics for ongoing chest infection. Having extensive tests tomorrow as I am a nurse working with clients known to be more at risk of 'nasty obscure illnesses' Bit worried.

Have decided to finish work at 34 weeks as effing knackered! Am also down to 4 days a week using annual leave to try to stay healthier. Have sodding SPD too.

Anyone gonna be a babywearer?

flybynight · 27/01/2010 12:58

Is a babywearer someone who uses a pouch, stinkypinky? If so, I definitely will be. My current youngest is 6 so I am well out of the way of using prams (obviously I will have to at some stage). I hate hunting for lifts and coming up against unexpected flights of stairs. BabyBjorn until my back is breaking, here.

helenwombat, I found the australian system very disjointed as you say, but more comprehensive in its testing regime. I was routinely tested for diabetes, strep B, everything really. I was weighed at every single appointment and yet my urine was only tested about twice in each pregnancy. It does vary a lot state by state though.

Also where I was, they were astonished that I wanted to leave hospital two days after a normal intervention-free delivery. Seven days was more the norm, 10 if you had a CS. Homebirth was unheard of due to the fact that Sydneysiders sue as quick as look at you. Breastfeeding support was second to none. Everyone seems to successfully BF in Australia!

Bettymum · 27/01/2010 13:57

Re sleeping bags again, grobags can be pretty £££ but I found that TKMaxx do "last season's" designs at half price so well worth looking there if you have one near you.
flybynight get a Kari-me no broken backs!!

stinkypinky · 27/01/2010 14:07

I want a Kari-me type... they look so comfy. I had a Toby carrier with DD, and hated it - only used it once! I figure carrying will be easier as I have DD also - will make a little one for her teddy.

I get my gro-bags from ebay or charity shops - have about a dozen small ones, plus other sizes (bit of an addiction) Some have been as little as 99p!
