dolls I'm almost tempted to get my breast pump out to see if i can clear it myself but then again I don't know what it is so probably shouldn't meddle. I never leaked anything when pregnant with DS and haven't this time either - dry as a bone! I reckon a leaking breast might help this problem. I'm sort of dreading going to the GP simply because I reckon he'll say its 'normal' for breasts to 'hurt' whereas this is very different to ordinary pregnancy boob ache-ing.

Working with little ones when pregnant must be absolutely exhausting, I don't think I could do that job!!

pillia78 · 12/01/2010 20:14

Hi Adelaide a friend of mine got Mastitis whilst pregnant with her first! I had never heard of this happening but apparently it is quite common. If you start to feel poorly I would get to the GP as soon as you can as I felt really ill really quickly when I had it. Hope it is nothing and I will sound like a total drama queen!

stinkypinky · 12/01/2010 20:56

AdelaideJo do NOT use a breast pump! Could be dangerous, plus make ruin the pump. I would encourage you to try for an emergency appt asap, not wait until thurs... and keep an eye on your temp. This is not normal, so hope you are soon sorted x

AdelaideJo · 12/01/2010 22:29

Ooooo crikey... okay thanks for the tips guys. It still hurts a lot so i've taken a coupla paracetamol, the boob is getting a bit red on the outside as well. Nasty!

I won't touch the breast pump though. Interestingly, this was DS's favoured breast (not much came from the other one).

Sorry if this is all TMI!

Neeko · 13/01/2010 13:19

Adelaidejo sounds like mastitis to me. Try massaging the lump (ouch) with the showerhead on full force if you can't get an appt quickly. Make sure you keep taking the painkillers and drink lots of water. Don't worry the antibiotics will clear it up and it won't affect your production after the baby's here.

I'm desperate to stop work too. 5 weeks on Friday for me,but who's counting?

AdelaideJo · 13/01/2010 13:51

Yep, got an infection for sure. Went to the GP this morning and have some antibiotics.....pretty ouch though.

Thanks too for the advice...gave myself a day off today after getting halfway to the station at 0610 this morning and thinking "I don't THINK so" .

stinkypinky · 13/01/2010 14:20

Have just noticed I was a bit forceful in my post AdelaideJo. Apologies

So glad you have got antibiotics, and are resting.

I am on antibiotic no2 for chest infection (after coughing up blood on monday). Feeling much better now (can breathe), and am off work until next week.I am thinking I might finish a bit earlier than I was planning, as this pregnancy is much harder than no1 was.

stinkypinky · 13/01/2010 14:22

DH has a favourite too , but now out of bounds as I have started to leak (TMI)

tostaky · 13/01/2010 16:20

pilia when's your appointment with physio? Mine is on the 8th of Feb? I'm going to be in a wheelchair by that time!

Babymonster I'll be very interested in a book to show my DS too - let me know if you find a good one

A friend of mine is pregnant again with DC2 and she wants all the stuff she lent me when I had DS back? this means the car seat, the bouncer chair, playgym, breatspump, bath etc?. She is due end of June though so I can use the mose basquet for a while but everything else I will need to buyespecially the car seat and the bouncer chair? debating whether to fuss again with a breatspump or to give formula for those very few times I wont be around for a feed?.

Has a bit of blood on Monday but midwife said not to worry.. It could be three things;

  1. pre-term labour and in which case I would lose lots of blood and have pains (not my case)
  2. piles (nope)
  3. cervical erosion (probably my case) it's like a nose bleed but from the cervix

I'll stop working on the 11th of Feb and I.CANT.WAIT!!! Aaaaahhh? lazy mornings in bed followed by pancakes for late breakfast and plenty of times to read the paper while DS is at nursery? a dream!!!

pillia78 · 13/01/2010 18:50

Hi Tostaky I haven't had an appointment through yet I am very jealous that you have had yours!!!! Did your Midwife recommend anything in the meantime? I have found pushing a pram through the snow really aggravates it and some nights it is soooo painful but I would definitely recommend a cushion between the knees and satin pyjama bottoms help when turning over in bed!!

PrincessTweetz · 13/01/2010 19:28

Hello all!! Hope things start clearing up soon adelaide
I'm feeling really good at the moment..had my first homevisit from midwife today n she said everything looks really good for my planned homebirth...feel like I can relax now in the knowledge that it should be going ahead! I'm sooo pleased!!!

AdelaideJo · 13/01/2010 19:35

stinky don't be daft!

Bettymum · 13/01/2010 19:56

tostaky I have the same thing with all the equipment - I borrowed a load of stuff from SIL when I had DD but she had a baby boy two weeks ago so she's got it all back again! And she won't be finished with it (or rather her DS won't) by the time my DS arrives. I am doing quite well out of sales (cot) and ebay (Amby baby hammock and bouncy chair, both barely used) so feeling quite pleased. He will just have to wear DD's old clothes for a bit, I will edit out the particularly girly ones but luckily there aren't too many of those as DD isn't a really pink girly girl (yet ).
I had a growth scan today, baby measuring perfectly at 28 weeks for head and thigh bone, but 30 weeks for his tummy. Takes after his daddy already .

PrincessTweetz · 13/01/2010 20:32

Haha bettymum...thats what we said at our last scan when lady told us he had a nice big belly lol
I'm doing really good in some areas for Jude, n not so good in others :s
Clothes wise I'm really surprised that I could get away with not buying any more outfits, just a few socks, boots and hats, and an outdoor coat....not that I'll be able to keep to that hehe
Everything else wise I'm looking at getting crib, bedding, pushchair, mobile, and a few more bits and bobs....don't know about everyone else but the time to me is really flying past!!

hoops997 · 13/01/2010 21:24

I feel all left out, all I have got for mini-hoops is 3 blankets, 2 teddy's and a bib!! Should I go out and start buying stuff, still feel it's too early and that I might jinx it!!!

PrincessTweetz · 14/01/2010 08:27

Aww hoops, thats ok x I don't think you should feel pushed into buying things if you'd rather wait, but I also don't think you should feel like you'll jinx anythng either Have you an idea of the things you'd like to get ie the type of pushchair etc, maybe you could just do a 'window shopping' trip where you can try things out and find out what's best for you or what you like.
I'm having this trouble at the mo, I hate talking to people but am torn between two pushchairs, but keep bottling out of the demonstration bit at the shop. So much easier with dd ..I just fell in love with the pushchair and bought it anyway haha

stinkypinky · 14/01/2010 12:20

Princess Tweetz - talk to us about prams, or start a new thread, or google for reviews.

I bought some booties and scratch mits today.

Neeko · 14/01/2010 12:35

Adelaidejo glad you got it sorted. You'll feel much better by tomorrow.

pilia and Tostaky I soo feel your pain, especially at night. Find the pillow thing helps to a certain extent as does spending time on my birthing ball in the evening but I can't wait for my appt at physio either. I'll probably get it for the week before I'm due.

I'm also stressing about being ready. Still have most of DD's stuff up the loft but need to decorate and buy furniture too. My braxton hicks kept wakening me last night which didn't help with the panic.

Hoops I choose things and only buy the ones that you have to order in. It wion't jinx a thing as you can ask the shops to store it til nearer the time.

Hope everyone else is ok.

ReneRusso · 14/01/2010 13:07

I don't think it's bad luck to buy things now. We will need to have things ready for those first few weeks. I bought a pram 2nd hand on ebay, because I wanted a "lying flat" type of pram but I know I won't use it beyond about 3 months. I have also got a moses basket for £1.60 on ebay . This poor baby is seriously disadvantaged, my 2 DDs had everything nice and new, but I gave everything away, not thinking I would ever get DH to agree to have another baby.

CurlyCasper · 14/01/2010 13:32

Are there any old TTC First Time Frolickers here? If so, please say hello to many of your old chums on this new ante-natal thread.

Thanks

nicnacinoonoo · 14/01/2010 14:23

hey all, taken me ages to catch up on all iv missed.

im feeling bad again at the moment, hope its not like this until the end. i cant sleep properly anymore so feel really weak and weary all day. been going to bed really early, im that exhausted. think im starting to get a bug though which is making it worse, felt like i could barely hold my head up this morning. also the tiredness makes me really irritable so im not the friendliest person to be around at the moment.

i dont work in kg it makes no sense to me but iv put on just under a stone and a half so far. last time i put on just over 2 stone and im hoping it wont be anymore than that this time but with 12 weeks left im probably being optimistic.

we've picked our names she's going to be Kacie Brooke.

baby's room is getting wallpapered next week yay! just need to pick a carpet then i can start getting furniture in there. cant wait to hang some baby clothes in the wardrobe and see the room when its all done.

see the midwife on tues for my 28 week check. im really wanting these final few months the go quick!

hope everyone is well

merryxmasfellowbumps · 14/01/2010 16:47

i just feel lost as dont know alot about being pregnant or anything that comes with it . . .

so i apoligise now for any questions that may seem stupidly obvious

stinkypinky · 14/01/2010 18:20

Ask away merryxmasfellowbumps... you are most welcome. No question too silly

PrincessTweetz · 14/01/2010 21:04

I got back from the baby farm today with a new crib n bedding...yay!! I never went there to buy, just to browse pushchairs, but dp saw it at a reduced price n I could see he really liked it...the one from mothercare we were gonna get would have cost £120 without bedding...the one we got today was £100 with bedding and a cute little drape as well..I'm soo pleased hehe..I love a good old bargain!! The drape holder is in the shape of a stork as well, I love it haha...n whats more I know I can re use it for next one Even better!!
I've also just found out my dd is a Cheryl Cole fan...she was singing along to Fight For This Love at the shop today..as best as a 2 year old can sing along lol, n when we got home I put it back on for her n she had a lil dance! It's always the little things they do that fill you with a burst of love!

Bettymum · 15/01/2010 09:44

That is sweet, Princess! I think my DD (2 next week) is Lady GaGa's biggest fan .
