Hi all,
Hope everyone's well. I am back to work today after a week off trying to get ready for Christmas and do DIY stuff, which was great but hijacked on Thursday afternoon by a poorly DD who couldn't go back to nursery as she had a bad tummy. Not convinced she should have gone in today but DH decided she should. I am all excited as she is going to be an angel in the nativity, so we went together last week to get fabric for her costume, I just need to find wings from somewhere.
Baby is giving me some good old thumps now which is lovely, I am worried that I'm drinking too much caffeine - as I'm just constantly sooooo tired at the moment I'm drinking as much tea as I normally do. Not sure that 4 mugs a day is a good thing for the baby though.
lineky I don't think the panic is confined to first-timers, I keep seeing tiny babies now and thinking Oh goodness, I'll have one of those soon, what will I do with it? They're so small! What will I do with a boy? I have overheard DH talking on the phone a couple of times about "my son" which makes me very .
dani hope your scan goes well today!

Snowtiger · 30/11/2009 10:37

Hi all
Isn't it reassuring to see that we're all having the same worries and concerns, and freaking out about having little babies, even those of us who've already had them before!!

I decided to put off the SF jab in the end, as I phoned the GP and they said they're going to be getting the Celvapan vaccine in soon (the one without the mercury in it) so I'm going to have that I think. I've come down with a horrible cold over the weekend and am desperately hoping it's nothing worse than that...

We had a lovely day with DS yesterday - went up to the Suffolk coast, despite the horrendous weather, and had lots of fun splashing in puddles and crunchign along the shingle beach. DS was so well behaved I wanted to cry - we went for lunch in an Italian restaurant and he sat beautifully, ate nicely, charmed all the waitresses and then went to sleep in the car on the way home like a little angel. I got a real pang about the fact that he's inevitably going to get sidelined a little bit when DS2 comes along.

Still, I spoke to DS last night about it for the first time - he's only 2 and 3 mths so not sure how 'real' it was to him or how much he understands but I explained how Mummy has a brother and Daddy has a brother and how his cousins are brothers, and asked "Would you like a brother?" and he nodded and said "yes".

This morning he looked at me all big blue eyes and said "I have a brother?" (which again made me want to weep - so bloody hormonal!) so I said "would you like a brother darling? OK then, Mummy will get you one if that's what you'd like. It might take a little while though..." Let's hope he's still as keen on the idea in 18 weeks time, eh?!!

dani87 · 30/11/2009 13:31

hoops997 · 30/11/2009 20:20

fab pics, I'm really in 2 minds whether to have a 4D scan, my family are really against it, said it's weird

I might have one done and just not tell them, when is the best time to have one done?

dani87 · 30/11/2009 20:33

i had mine done today and im coming up to 23weeks ive got another 1 in feb which is part of the package but they say when you are about 30weeks as baby has more fat on them. my family was against it but i had 1 with dd1 and when they saw it they were amazed! I think personally its upto you and your partner and weather you would like something like that to look at when your dc is older! I would recommend it, it has helped me bond already with bump and was the same with dd1

Neeko · 30/11/2009 21:03

Hi all.
Lovely pics Dani

I'm with you all in the "What will I do with a baby?" thoughts. My best friend has an 8 week old and I keep wondering how I coped with all that. MY DD is very excirted and sweet about the baby though. Fingers crossed it lasts!

I love knowing what it is! Looking at the list loads of you on here have found out - I know quite a few people in RL who are expecting and none of them have/want to find out (apart from me). Wondering what is the norm - finding out or not?

I have had a sharp reminder of bad sleep deprivation this week as DD has had a virus and her asthma is flaring up = no sleep for me. It's not nice and making me nervous about the newborn weeks - oh well I got through it once and we're all still here so I'm sure I can do it again! lineky it's great that you're thinking how will I cope - it means you will cope as you are mentally geared up for it already. In my first pregnancy all I though was 'aah babies are sweet I can't wait to have one' - bit naive really and I struggled because of it.

dani87 your pics are fab, so clear you can really see what she looks like - how amazing!

hoops997 · 30/11/2009 22:36

wow, our list is starting to look a bit more even, thought for a minute we would have an all blue thread!!

I have decided that I will have a 4D scan, bugger my family, they don't have to know

I am also in the 'OMG I'm going to be a mother to a BABY, what the hell am I going to do?' club....I'm sure we will all be fine but it's really scarey especially now as I have had my 20 week scan and all is going a bit too bloody fast

How is everyone else doing?

thedollshouse · 01/12/2009 09:41

Dani your pictures are amazing!

Wellieboot I expect a lot of people find out and don't tell people. In rl I have told everyone that we didn't want to find out the sex. I like to keep it our secret.

slightlycrumpled · 01/12/2009 10:28

Hello all, hope everyone is well.

All okay here, although have been quiet as DS2 has been unwell (again!)and have lots of appointments for him. Not had a great deal of time to think about being pregnant!

I am getting bigger though and am quite enjoying have a baby bump for the third and (most definitely) final time. I am trying to really enjoy it as it is the last, although it is quite difficult to enjoy heartburn!

I have just re read back through the last few pages and great to hear everyones scan news, mine is next week and I am a mixture of excitement and nerves. I think we will find out the sex although I think that I can safely assume it's a boy. I think we are just boy makers!

neeko and rene I hope all is well at the next scan.

I haven't brought a single thing yet and we had given away all of our baby things from the boys so are starting again. It will be quite nice though to browse mothercare again!

Hope my baby brain starts working today as am going to school for a training session on a new talking aid that DS2 is getting. It's a bloody mini computer and I am rubbish! Still it should improve his quality of life loads but must concentrate lots. Eeek.

Anyway 'speak soon'.

Bettymum · 01/12/2009 11:20

All well here, getting kicked more and more so I just have to sit with one hand typing and one hand on my tummy feeling all the bumps and thumps, with a silly smile on my face while the kicks continue . When Bub goes back to sleep I can get on with my work with both hands again.
.

rumpleteaser · 01/12/2009 12:09

I got scanned today! After waiting over an hour cos the doctor forgot he'd told us to go and wait outside the scan room.

Oh well, he confirmed my dates, which is a relief, I am 20 weeks. Doc THINKS baby is a boy.. baby was wriggling lots and bobbing around! I could watch it all day!

Mistymoo · 01/12/2009 15:01

I'm feeling very tired today. Was at my dc's school today helping out and my head feels like mush

Is anyone else not sleeping well because of backache? I'm only 20 weeks but have been waking up a lot with a sore back. I feel like I need a really good massage to get rid of all the knots. Goodness knows what I'll be like by full term.

flybynight · 01/12/2009 15:07

I know what you mean, mistymoo. My back isn't sore per se, but every time I get up or have to move my hips seem to creak and I have to do that pregnant lady hand-in-the-small-of-the-back thing to sort myself out. And like you say - we've a long way to go.

And I've bought some Floradix iron supplement to see if that will boost my energy levels. Not that there is anything wrong with my iron levels, but I'm ever hopeful.

Zeeky · 01/12/2009 15:22

Mistymoo - I'm suffering with the back ache and also hip ache. It's started waking me up in the night if I stay in the same position for too long. I'm sure I didn't get it until quite late on in the pregnancy with DS, so a bit worried that I've got another 20 weeks of it!!! If I stand up for too long (e.g. ironing or cooking, or even just queuing in Tesco!) my hip starts to ache really badly.

Feeling lots of kicks now. Can definitely feel them on the outside now too!

Got my scan next Monday. In the meantime we are going to Disneyland Paris on Thursday for a long weekend with my parents and sister & her family. Not sure I am going to fare with all the walking/standing but I'll try my best! Takes my mind off waiting for the scan, as we are so excited about Disney - it is my first time there

thighsmadeofcheddar · 01/12/2009 15:28

I'll join in on the creaky hips and joints. I forgot how uncomfortable you get when you're pregnant. Arrrgh!

I'm also having negative thoughts about the birth (again!). I'm freaking out a bit that I have to go through it all again. Sorry to scare any first timers. Is anyone else feeling anxious?

nicnacinoonoo · 01/12/2009 15:41

im feeling very anxious. i have my appointment with the consultant on thursday after having a previous cs. i really want an elective cs this time but they dont let you round here anymore apparantly. makes me wish id got pregnant sooner as my surgeon after having ds told me the next time i would be able to have an elective cs if i wanted and now they've changed their minds.
anyone got any tips on things i should say to the consultant to try to get him to let me have one?

at least ill know after thursday i suppose but if he doesnt let me i know im going to spend all the rest of my pregnancy worrying.

chowmein · 01/12/2009 17:19

hi girls, haven't been on for ages, gd to hear some good scan news. neeko and rene hope u get gd news on your next scan.

i had my 20wk last week, everything looks fine and it's a girl! so this thread's definitely looking more even now. need to come up with a name tho, i need something that sounds gd in both chinese and english.

i m not in pain yet, but i m thinking of getting a support belt for when the bump gets bigger, anyone used them before?

this's all going so fast i feel like i m running out of time. am supposed to finish my degree before march so now frantically writing my thesis. and me and DH are trying to savour our last bits of child-free life (although we are looking forwards to being parents). so we r busy booking short wkend trips, west end shows and nice meal out while i m still mobile! we r supposed to be saving up, but i guess u can live a little .

will go baby shopping in jan, will be strict with myself and buy only essentials. have only bought 1 thing so far, and it's a blanket from tkmaxx.

every time i think of labour, looking after a baby, the responbility of raising a child freaks me out. i've never felt v maternal, i hope this will come after the baby's born.

I agree with the anxiety thing. Woke up last night feeling awful. I'm not stressing about the birth yet its just everything else.

A few years ago we had lots of illness in the family and I was having anxiety dreams related to their illnesses. In the last week I have dreamt that I have miscarried, that my fil and dm have had heart attacks, that my sisters cancer has come back and last night I dreamt that ds's headmistress was telephoning me to check if I had written ds's obituary. I also keep dreaming about dead relatives and usually something bad happens when I have these sort of dreams. I know they are only dreams but they really bring me down. My mood is very low today which is pathetic, I am carrying a healthy baby and I have a gorgeous 5 year old son. I'm just scared it will all get taken away from me.

AdelaideJo · 01/12/2009 19:06

nic maybe you could just be honest and say how you feel about the thought of giving birth naturally? I'm sure if he thought you were totally freaked out by a vaginal birth then they'd consider a section? Let us know how you get on.

I'm in the opposite position. I had my scan which showed that I have a low lying placenta at the moment. I'm absolutely praying that it stretches out of the way of the birth canal because I really do not want a section! Isn't it weird how everyone has their own wishes about birth . So am only feeling anxious about NOT getting a vaginal birth. Grrr.

dolls sorry you're feeling so blue today. I had a really down day yesterday but felt a lot better when I got up this morning. Hope the same for you.

My DS keeps rubbing my outsized boobers and saying "baybay".
