hello jacanne welcome to the thread, hopefully amyboo will join soon as well, you'll have to add yourself to our list

I'm glad everyone's scan's are going ok, although sorry to hear about renerusso, I'm sure i read that sometimes kidneys are a bit enlarged but sort themselves out after a few weeks, lets keep our fingers crossed for little rene and little neeko

Hope everyone is ok

ReneRusso · 25/11/2009 21:45

Neeko, yes it's the same, "renal pelvic dilation with calyceal extension" on both sides. Not sure quite how serious it is, but I was told it could be due to high levels of pregnancy hormones and it might have got better by 28weeks, or it might need treatment after birth. Are you having a follow up scan?

rumpleteaser · 26/11/2009 08:54

Hi everyone. I am going for scan next week, my Bulgarian doc says can't tell the sex of baby til 6 months though... Grrr

Can anyone give me an idea of what heartburn actually feels like?
I have pains on the left side of my chest just behind my ribs, hurts breathing in and out.. but not a fierly pain, just uncomfortable.
I wanna know if it's heartburn or something I should perhaps get checked out.

Neeko · 26/11/2009 08:54

Hi Rene I'm having a follow up scan at 32 weeksbut was told that it is found in 1% of 20 week scans and not to worry. I googled and was quite reassured by what I found. The more the baby grows the better from what i can tell. Try not to worry too much. x

Snowtiger · 26/11/2009 09:37

Hi ladies
Sorry to hear about your little ones' concerns, neeko and rene, hope the future scans show that it's all sorted out.

Rumpleteaser that sounds like heartburn to me - it comes in all sorts of forms though. When I was pregnant with DS1 I had terrible burning acid reflux towards the end, whereas this time I just feel like I've swallowed a brick after every meal. Nice. If in doubt though, always worth going to the Dr.

I'm still undecided about the SF jab, but as I haven't yet heard from the Dr's surgery about it I've got a bit of time to make up my mind. I swing from one extreme to the other at least twice a day.

Isn't it amazing that we're nearly into our 3rd trimester?! I remember when I was pregnant with DS1 that my second trimester was a joy - I was blooming, had loads of energy, full of the joys of spring etc. This time I'm just knackered! Poor DS has been shouted at a few times this week as I'm just so tired and lacking in patience - particularly today as DH went out on the town last night, got in drunk at 12:30am, clattered and banged aroudn the place then fell into bed and snored. I ended up sleeping on a pull-out mattress on the floor in DS's room! Upside was that DS got out of his bed to join me, so we spent the night snuggled up together which was really lovely. I'm starting to get a bit scared that I'm going to miss the amount of one-on-one time that I have with DS1 when DS2 arrives - anyone else feeling like this?

Little one is bouncing around a lot now though, which is lovely, and makes it feel a bit more real. A friend dropped back the moses basket I'd lent her yesterday and now it's sitting on the dining room table, looking at me going "I'm going to have a baby in me soon. Yes, really." which is quite freaky.

Right, really ought to go and get on with some housework the place looks like a bomb's hit it... Hope you're all feeling well and enjoying your little ones bouncing about!

flybynight · 26/11/2009 09:38

It doesn't sound like heartburn to me, rumpleteaser. Heartburn is an acidic burn from underneath the bottom of your breastbone up to anywhere, stopping with your mouth! I get it in my ear tubes as well.

It may just be your organs etc starting to squash up (lovely, isn't it?).

thedollshouse · 26/11/2009 10:18

Heartburn is awful isn't it? I never had it with ds but this time it is a nightmare. For me it is shooting stabbing pains in the chest and awful pains in the top part of my back under my shoulder blades.

Is anyone else totally knackered by doing the simplest of things? Just walking 10 minutes down the road makes me feel like I need a sit down to recover.

Bettymum · 26/11/2009 11:11

blimey flybynight 20 minutes!!! DD took about 80 hours to make an appearance! I think I am not a birthing natural.

rumpleteaser · 26/11/2009 11:51

Thanks - I will mention it to the doc next week to be on safe side.. squashed organs! eeek!

Dollshouse - thought I was just a lazy heffer being knackered after hoovering my tiny flat!
Glad to know it's just another joy of being pregnant!

tostaky · 26/11/2009 12:03

flybynight - I am worried that mussels filter all the bad things though... not too worried about the listeria risk though more about the pollutants. because whenever there is a cargo that offload loads of craps in the atlantic then mussles and oyster producters in France gets all upset and government ban their sale.... mmhh.. never thought about it but i think i'll stop eating them now!

Neeko Reno As I said my friend had the same problem and she had to take antibiotics at the end of her pregnancy and the problem is still not resolved but her son is very healthy otherwise and it doesnt cause him any inconvenience. doctors expect him to grow out of it. he is almost 1.5 now.

Feeling great at the moment! Baby is moving a lot which is nice!!! and i cant wait to get the mose basquet out of the loft I am very excited... I have already everything but i still bought two lovely cuddly toys for the new baby. I just cant wait!!
I keep telling myself that on the 1st January I will start the third semester! Yay!

Rtuff · 26/11/2009 14:27

Afternoon everyone!

I'm glad i'm not the only one who doesn't feel blooming at the moment! I feel sooo tired doing the smallest things, i suppose it doesn't help that we're moving house next Thursday and have been packing our house into boxes! I sorted through all our baby clothes from DS1 and we have got sooooo many clothes its unbelievable! Looks like we don't need to buy a single thing for our new little boy... i'm sure i still will though!

snowtiger i'm exactly the same with the sf jab, one minute i've decided that i'm definitely going to have it and find myself on the phone to the doc to see if they have it yet, the next minute i've completely changed my mind and am against it! With so many things going on in pregnancy this is just one more thing to worry about!

OP posts:
nicnacinoonoo · 26/11/2009 15:50

snowtiger im feeling worried about how the baby will affect mine and ds's relationship too. i wanted to get pregnant so he could have a sibling but now i keep thinking he was fine before why did i have to go and change things etc. think its just one of the many worries we have when facing the arrival of a new baby though.

im not having the vaccine, my mum was a pharmacist and she doesnt think its a good idea, + my friend who works at a doctors surgery told me most of the doctors there have decided against having it. i dont think im too high risk as we live in the north west and i have my own car so dont have to use overcrowded public transport and what not iykwim.

hi all

glad to hear lots happy chilled sounding mums on here- weve just had a really horrible week with DH and DS down with (suspected) swine flu - its going round DSs school. I've had the jab which was a huge dilema at the time but now just really relieved. Would have been a nervous wreck if i hadnt and only just coming out the other side of horrendous ms and exhaustion... think it would have killed me

Ive got my 20 week scan tomorrow but looks like its just me going. Planning to find out the sex if possible...if only so i can free up some vital storage space currently taken up with babyclothes of varying colours. BUT having said that one of my friends was told she was having a girl (chose a name, brought the baby clothes etc) and then gave birth to a boy -not sure how they got that wrong but dont think i will quite belive what they tell me.

Anyway need to administer the calpol/benelyn combo! Poor DS been mutting and coughing in his sleep

will let you know pink or blue tomorrow though for the record i think its a boy

BelfastBloke · 27/11/2009 06:56

It's good for me to be on this thread and pick up things my DW might be going through. She's v tired from long days from work and doesn't always talk things through with me - and there is a culture between us of, 'Oh, we've already had one child, so we don't need to read up again about every little stage of pregnancy'.

We went for our scan yesterday and we're having a boy. DW suspectd it was a boy, and her initial reaction was v positive, but a few hours in she was wobbling a bit.

She only had sisters, and feels on home ground with girls. She said she feels like she now knows she's got something 'other' inside her.

I would have been fine either way. However we're both mourning the loss of the great girls names we had, whereas we don't really know what boy's name we'll end up with.

Hi Dwayne Actually the 20 minute birth wasn't frightening at all. It was my third and I knew what I was doing and what to expect. I felt really in control of it all.

The first one was frightening though. It was about 2.5 hrs from 1cm, I was labouring in a waiting room next to a poor woman who was miscarrying. No-one checked me and the midwives were still telling me to go home as I'd be hours yet when I was crowning. I was actually banging my head against the wall to distract myself from the pain.

Apparently my cervix opens like a trap door. Don't get me wrong though. It hurts.

BelfastBloke I totally understand where your wife is coming from with her little bit of sadness. I have 2 boys and a girl already and, no matter what surprise I get at the end, there will be an element of sadness for what it is not. Because there will be no more. That shop is closed!

rene How has your MIL taken the scan news after her annoying behaviour? I she behaving with appropriate grace?

Morning all,

We had our scan on Wednesday, thankfully all okay. It took her ages to get all the measurements and my paranoia was intense but all ok! And it's a girl. I knew it would be, my family is littered with girls. We're both thrilled, and don't have to buy any more new clothes for baby!

Thinking of you both neeko and rene.

Have a lovely weekend all.

ReneRusso · 27/11/2009 13:54

flybynight, I have managed to avoid speaking to MIL so far. DH phoned her with news of the scan. So I assume she will keep her rather crass remarks to herself from now on!
Thanks all for the kind thoughts. I'm feeling quite positive and feel that little one will be ok.

Zeeky · 28/11/2009 19:12

Totally knackered after a day of putting up the Christmas decorations! Being on my hands and knees under a Christmas tree is so much harder with a bump getting in the way.

DS is now totally over-excited. DH is trying to calm him down in bed, reading him stories.

I think I bit of feet-up in front of a roaring fire and the x-factor is called for

dani87 · 29/11/2009 17:45

hi all hope everyones weekend has been a good one with plenty of rest.

well i am really tired dp has flu 1st time he has been ill in over a year just hope i dont get it trying to keep my distance.

lineky · 29/11/2009 18:23

Hi all, overall had a good weekend. freaked myself out a bit as we were visiting friends and there was an 18month old and a 10 month old and for some reason it was all too much. Spent the evening panicing about how I was going to cope and why was I doing this etc
I guess its just first time nerves and a bit of a reality check. feeling a bit better today though!

AdelaideJo · 29/11/2009 18:48

Lineky its all bluddy brilliant when the baby arrives and you'll cope excellently....even when you think "I'm not coping", you will be, because your baby will be clean, fed, warm, housed and loved .

And 18 month old kiddies are a world away from teeny newborns, by which time you'll be a seasoned pro in how to deal with every eventuality!

My 20 month DS seems to be bypassing the ratty toddlerdom stage and gearing up for a full on meltdown once his little brother or sister arrives!

lineky · 30/11/2009 10:07

Cheers adelaidejo
feeling far better today - back to being excited
