ErikaMaye · 19/10/2009 22:08

Right will post this then catch up on everyone!!

Had my consultants appointment - they were running two hours late When I finally got in there, was having Braxton Hicks, and even though I had told the dude I had SPD - not that the crutches and support belt give it away!! - he insisted on pushing down on my poor pelvis so hard I cried. Then they rushed me for a scan because they thought he was breech - he's not - and decided that I need an emergancy scan next week as I'm measuring 33cm at 36 weeks. Didn't understand why they couldn't measure him then, seeing as I was having a scan, but apparently that was far too logical

So anyway - my hips and back are still killing me. But good news is that they have said they won't let me go overdue because of the SPD. If he hasn't arrived by his EDD they'll induce me Thank goodness for that...

ErikaMaye · 19/10/2009 22:29

Wook yey for good results, hope you enjoyed your shortbread!!

Longway if its any consolation, today I went to the hospital wearing a cardigan, yellow cami top, lounge trousers which are in at the ankle with blue fluffy socks and dolly shoes DP had put my socks on last night because my feet were cold and I couldn't take them off this morning!!!

Tigger sorry to hear the bypass news, but at the same time, I know someone who had the same a while ago. Took him a while to recover, but is now happier and more active than ever before

Ninja... Umm... I don't really know what to say Are they going to induce you early?

lucieerin Welcome

Hobnob enjoy your massage!!

Pavlov am rather jealous of your pizza, sometimes I do wish DP would eat meat Hope the painting is going well.

Hope everyone is well, sleeping-ish, and not in too much pain

lucieerin · 19/10/2009 22:33

Thanks for the welcome everyone, I think I'll go crazy if I don't natter, I am going out of my mind with boredom being housebound and having sorted absolutely everything ready for baby....even done all my christmas shopping ffs i'm that bored haha xx

Evening all!

Nice to meet you, lucieerin! Sounds like you've got your hands full, its great your DP is so supportive though.

Ninja just want to add my to everyone elses. Guess you won't need to buy any Newborn size nappies... I hope they're going to keep an eye on you now.

General greetings to all still doing DIY. Have now finished our wall painting, but DP has brought home a load of wooden trim for a cupboard to add to the skirting boards, tongue and grove for the bathroom and bits-to-make-some-shelves already cluttering up the place and intended for use before baby's arrival. Wondering if I should remind him it's due in only 2 weeks ?

helips · 20/10/2009 07:29

Morning all,

lucieerin I have one ds, he was 2 in August and is a cheeky little monkey! Not sure what I'm having this time round although ds seems to think it's a sister so we shall see!

hobnob I sympathise with the back pains, sometimes I think these Osteo's/Chiro's do more harm than good! Oh well, am off for some acupuncture this morning and am very much hoping it works to alleviate my back pain, will let you know!

erika thats good that they won't let you go past your due date. Hope your growth scan goes ok but annoying that they couldn't do it yesterday, especially seeing as they kept you waiting 2 hours, ridiculous! Oh, and I bet you looked gorgeous

Fruitpastels · 20/10/2009 07:32

Another false alarm last night It may seem this pg will have a few of these to come until the baby arrives. I'm on guard with them as my last labour moved very quickly. I've woken today and the pressure of the baby is very painful. It's all very exciting that things are moving in the right direction, but I'm not enjoying the practise!!

Erika sorry you had a bad time at your appointment. That's good they will enduce you earlier rather than later

There is a red sky this morning. Looks like it's going to be a miserable day.

beepbeep · 20/10/2009 07:57

Morning all! Another decent nights sleep - sorry to those that didn't, but now baby has dropped i just feel so much more comfortable and DCs sleeping ok too.

Ninja - sounds like it could be a whopper!! DC was 10.1lb and glad I didn't know he was going to be big, but at least you can prepare yourself.

have nice da planned, MIL picking up DD at 9.45, got to pop into town for some birthday cards with DS. Then have them both for afternoon, before FIL comes round at 5 so I can leave to meet DH from work in Oxford, Pizza Express, then off to see Al Murray! Hoping we're near the end of the aisle, may be a few toilet visits!

Booked to go to center parcs again last night (off next Sept), but booked big enough place so my brother & his gf can come too - think dealing with 3 kids of 10m, 2yrs & 3m, and 3yrs & 10m may be a bit much in the pool so an extra pair of hands will be required - free hol for them!!

ursigurke · 20/10/2009 07:59

still pregnant so need to get on our list and have about 15min to catch up since Friday afternoon
hope everybody is as fine as possible

my DD is 2 and half and has a cough which only appears to trouble here at nite so for last week been up at 10..12..2.. and 4...could she be preparing us for the baby....anyway at 4am after she told me how poorly she was she wanted to know if we could go to the play barn now....

ursigurke · 20/10/2009 08:22

ok, feel kind of updated, I'm almost surprised that there is still no new baby. I wonder how lemontop and broodzilla are doing. Did they start a postnatal thread?
Quick update from here: I'm feeling fine, had already rather painful (compared to the ones I'm having since weeks) BHs over the weekend and my inlaws told me that my husband was more than 2 weeks early.... made things suddenly much more real.
At least we got the important things ready and whatever is left in those last 10 boxes can stay there for another couple of weeks.
And we should get internet on Thursday and I will finally be able to follow this thread properly.

scarlotti · 20/10/2009 08:25

Morning everyone

welcome lucieerin I have a DD of 15 and a DS of almost 4 so 3rd DC for me, although this is my 5th pg

ninja ouch Don't fret though, one of the ladies on my m/c board had her son who was 10lb 2oz naturally with no tearing. All my DH's dad's side are big babies. Their nan was only about 4'11" and her smallest was about 9lbs 10 and her biggest was a whopping 11lbs something!!

erika for your appointment leaving you in pain, hope you're feeling better now. Good news re the induction though.

helips I think osteo/chiro's really depend on who you see. I have an osteo who is just brilliant but I've been to some right cowboys in the past who've just created more pain! Hope the acupuncture helps today.

easyeggs nice to see you

pav ahh, those fond memories of loft painting ... not!! We did it ourselves in our last house and couldn't believe how long it took, what with mist coats, proper coats, under coat etc. etc. I don't envy you. We'd managed to choose a deep plum for the chimney breast which looked great but took 5 coats to stop it looking streaky!!! Never again!

Feeling ok here and managed a full night's sleep which was very welcome from the night before. Feel a bit of a fraud now though in that things looked like they were happening and now nothing! Guess that's all part of the fun though eh?
DS at home with me today and the weather isn't promising at all so think we'll be heading to a soft play place later to let off some steam!

beepbeep · 20/10/2009 08:35

Ninja - DS was born at 10.1lb with no tearing ad was actually an easier birth than DD who was 2lb lighter. My brother was similar weight to DS and my mum says the same - seems bigger babies sometimes make easier births, maybe their weight helps them fall out!!!!

Erika - hope you're feeling more comfortable today.

Tabbykat · 20/10/2009 08:37

Morning, hope all well? Rubbish night's sleep here as had contractions again last night - I'm with you with the false alarms Fruitpastels.

Was watching Moonlight and complaining of pain every few minutes when DH said "You do realise these are quite regular - should I be timing them?" Cue Tabby burying head in sand and saying, no, it's nothing, will take paracetamol and go to bed until it all stops......Now knackered as have had not much rest. DH asked if it was coming today then, to which I replied definitely not as I am too busy today and also too tired to go into labour - wouldn't have the strength to push! Seems to have eased off which is something - hoping all this painful preparation means that the actual birth will go more smoothly than last time tho!

Gosh, don;t know what to say Ninja! At least you know baby is growing well....

Hope evryone's DCs are behaving better than mine - DD has been a right little horror this week - think she can tell that mummy is very tired and has HAD ENOUGH and is just playing up even more because of it. Trying not to shout at her but am struggling a bit this week. Wish I was on maternity leave - must be mad. Still, only three more days of work to go - yay! Hope everyone has a good day,xx

raggie · 20/10/2009 08:45

Morning everyone!

I went to bed late (11pm late!) last night and as a result have slept until 8am, albeit with wakenings to turn over, go to the loo etc, but that's normal eh?

I am off for my scan in half an hour so had the luxury of not having to get up at the crack of dawn for school. Definitely going to see if I can spin it out and not go in this afternoon. Instead, get a bit of blimmin packing done - to look at our flat you would NEVER think we are moving on Saturday. Better get a move on!

Have a good day wishes to everyone!

Ninjacat · 20/10/2009 09:10

Morning all. Thanks for the kind words and support re monster baby. Beep and Wook thanks for sharing your experiences, it's calmed me down a lot.

Welcome Licie Raggie best of luck with the scan and hope the move goes smoothly

I love the idea of planning for christmas to take my mind off the inevitable. Can't remember who said it but will be my newest procrastination trick. Becky if I'm correct it's not just the baby jesus' birthday in your house on the 25th? Sounds like a busy time in your house.

You may be pleased to hear I am not going to Alton Towers, what was I thinking?

Up since 5am, shattered.

My bump had been clicking. It's very weird

OP posts:
Trikken · 20/10/2009 09:44

morning all, Tabby my ds is playing up too, though sure half of it is boredom where we arent going out and doing as much stuff together where im so tired. hopefully will be going to see his nana today so might burn off some of his energy.

Erika, sorry you had a rubbish appointment, hope the next one goes better for you.

Raggie hope your scan is going ok.

weston hope your dd feels better soon.

Had a had night again last night, had bh's, and had to keep going to the loo cos i felt like i needed to poo all the time, was hoping this was a god thing as thats how my labour started last time.
seemed to be up every hour, but the bh's eased off so am still pregnant. apparently dh was six weeks early but ds was ten days late, so could be any time for this one, but really hoping sooner rather than later.

BeckyBendyLegs · 20/10/2009 10:02

Hello everyone! Yes Ninja you are right: my birthday is 25th December

Not much happening here - house is quiet, DH is upstairs working from home, need to find something suitable for DSs to take as harvest festival food.

tigger32 · 20/10/2009 10:27

Morning all,

Hope everyone is feeling ok, every time I log in I'm sure there will be another baby... but no!

I dropped my top and tail bowl out of the loft at the weekend and its broken so, I have been all around town including the supermarkets and can only find one but it costs £9!!! I'm sure I only paid about £2 for my other (it was 6 years ago but still things don't go up that much do they??) I've had a quick look online and John Lewis do one which including delivery will be just under £6, still seems alot to me,
What you ladies all use? and if T&T bowl where did you buy them?

Oh our sainsburys has a small sale on and they baby sleeping bags (blue or pink) in 2 different sizes reduced to £6. Just thought I'd share.

Thanks for sharing your experiences of people having had a heart bypass, its reassuring to hear, we don't have a date yet but should be within the next few days.

Licie welcome, I too am on my 3rd baby and suspect it may be another boy, my other 2 are 3 and 6, I think becky is in a similar situation also.

Oh becky a Christmas day birthday! I hope you get some special time to enjoy being the birthday girl!!

erika hope you are ok after yesterdays appointment

Tabby My boys are both playing up at the minute but I suspect they are a bit confused/worried about whats going on with me busy nesting and hospital visiting, plus they know grandad is poorly and are missing him

Raggie hope the scan going well

ninja glad your baby is doing well, I too have heard that bigger babies can be easier to deliver!

tigger32 · 20/10/2009 10:30

Oh forgot to say, Scarlotti very kindly sent me a book last week, I've read it and it was a great read, its called The triplet diaries, scarlotti has said to pass it on so would anyone like to read it?

claired21 · 20/10/2009 10:56

Morning all

I'm really surprised there haven't been any announcements recently! I'm sure it won't be long though, with so many of you having practise contractions etc. So exciting!! (Easy for me to say)

I have a question for those further on than me or those who have been here before... I've heard that midwifes can check if your cervix is dilated at your appointments, does this mean they start doing internal exams? I know at 34 weeks pregnant I can't put this off forever, but would like to be prepared at least!

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 20/10/2009 11:09

Bleugh - pizza. Baaaaaad idea. I was up all night with severe acid indigestion, nothing touched it. It burned and burned and then this morning, I threw up so much I ripped the lining of my stomach again. I felt it burning this time, omg it was horrible. And the blood was endles (sorry tmi). I did not panic this time though as I knew what it was, and have taken the medication Dr gave me for last time it happened (omeprazole?) to reduce acid in stomach, just waiting for it to kick in, as it still really really hurts.

We have 3 friends helping with the painting, which is great as I cannot do a thing right now . And I am out of gaviscon, not that it helped last night.

Fruitpastels · 20/10/2009 11:13

Claire21 Didn't have any internal exams in my first pg or this pg (so far). I'm wondering if she will check me next week if I continue with these BH's, I will be 39 wks at that point.

BeckyBendyLegs · 20/10/2009 11:18

Licie and Tigger yep I'm on my third 'probably' boy! My other two are nearly 6 and 3 so similar ages to Tigger. This pregnancy feels so similar and the bump is the same shape as before so I would be very surprised if it turns out to be a girl. I find myself gravitating to boys' clothes in the shops so I wonder whether my gut feeling is telling me something...

It is true that bigger babies are easier to deliver - they just drop out . My friend who had a 10lb 11oz baby said the same thing and the lady in the bed opposite her who had a 5lb baby was in labour for two days. My babies were quite big (9lb 13oz and 9lb 4oz) and they were quite 'easy'.

BeckyBendyLegs · 20/10/2009 11:20

Pavlov poor, poor you. Pizza is very bad for me too indigestion wise. I can't eat it now

Claire I didn't have any internal exams until I had a sweep at 40+1 weeks with DS1. Nothing with DS2.

Trikken · 20/10/2009 11:21

I didnt have internals in my first pregnancy either, (apart from the ones in the hosp)and none in this one. tbh the midwives dont really seem to do much in mw appts at the mo.
