Wook would it make you feel any better if I told you I did exactly the same thing earlier in the year. Called NHS Direct who called an ambulance! My dp was so embarrassed he hid in the bathroom - of course I was fine but felt very silly. I feel differently about electricity since though and get a bit antsy about ds plugging/unplugging appliances etc.

Pav step away from the credit card!

Lissy grrr, boys. Sounds like you should send him back to his mother for a bit until he's grown up

ErikaMaye · 16/10/2009 22:32

Scarlotti get a rather sizable box of chocolates, a stack of trashy films, and enjoy!!

Comma2 · 17/10/2009 00:17

Pavlovgo for it! Sounds great! I buy everyhting too I think that's my way of nesting.

Wook--seriously, what a shock! Excellent that both you and baby are okay! Will certainly keep refraining from cleaning..

Lissy- sounds like you dh had a little freak-out there. I too just got the I-am-doing-more-than-most-husbands-speech. Pffff. Right. But he's also tried to be nice since then...rather sweet, for a change.

Dh is coming down with something, I'm sure its the flu. I don't want the flu!!! I just got over the second cold in two weeks, and still have a cold sore which freaks me out as I have heard you have to have a csection if you have a cold sore! Why oh why am I sick all the time, I'm usually the one holding everybody's hand and spoon-feeding them soup withut catching a thing myself, even when I was pregnant with dd1...

Comma2 · 17/10/2009 00:19

Ninjacat-- My dh would probably try to hide too.

Fruitpastels · 17/10/2009 07:42

Pav Glad to hear your loft is finished

Wook My goodness! Glad you are ok.

After a very unsettled couple of nights, I actually got some good sleep last night. The pressure down below seems to have gone away this morning. My guess is the baby is popping in and out of my pelvis. Last night, I had shooting pains going down the inside of my leg and bh's that were stopping me in my tracks. I think my body is preparing itself, just wish it wouldn't be so uncomfortable in the process.

Hope you all have a lovely day Another week has nearly passed by!

scarlotti · 17/10/2009 07:52

pav glad you got a good night's sleep at last.

comma sorry to hear you're still not feeling right. Cold sores are dangerous for baby I think as they don't have any immunity against them. Didn't realise it meant a c-section though ... although think you're in a different country to us?

erika like the chocs and film idea ... bed had won by that point!

Ds woke at 6:25 this morning calling for Dh, who naturally didn't hear him calling I lay there ignoring the calls until I heard the 'gonna wet myself' bit, shot out of bed to find the spd is back with a vengeance and so couldn't stand properly. Being in the loft and DS a floor below is not good when you can barely walk. Needless to say Dh ignored slept through it all
We're now downstairs (Ds and I) watching ... yep, you guessed it ... WALL:E
Thank god it's a sweet film or I'd have gone made by now!!

scarlotti · 17/10/2009 07:54

Oops, that should have been mad obviously ... ruddy fat fingers from fluid retention!

BeckyBendyLegs · 17/10/2009 09:15

Lissy I hope you are ok - no wonder you were frightened. I would be too. I'm sure it is just a little show though. I hope your DP takes good care of you now.

Wook Oh My God!!!!! I hope you are ok. That is so the sort of thing I would do.

DH is working today. I am a computer widow

I need to think of a hallowe'en costume for DS2 for the school disco next week. I like the chance to sew (even though it would be cheeper just to nip to Asda) so feel like doing something creative. DS1 is going as a ghoast. I might even dress up as a very heavily pregnant witch! I don't want to scare the children too much.

Trikken · 17/10/2009 09:46

glad you and baby are both ok wook,

I dont know what size my bed is, but its super-king and only just fits in our room. thats why we can only just fit our bed and the moses basket in there. I love my bed, but actually wish it was a bit smaller. only managed to get it cos the delivery people made a huge cock-up with deliveries of my bed spanning over six months(consisting of me having to sleep on the floor) so they finally arrived with that and i just said yes.

Trikken · 17/10/2009 09:58

had a bad night's sleep, dh was supposed to pick up some rennies but didnt which wasnt completely his fault as he had a long day and i forgot to text to remind him, but last night I had the most awful acid reflux and so needed them. i was soo tired and really wanted to sleep but felt sick every time I lay down. tried drinking milk to no avail and was awake from 11 to 3 when I was eventually sick which was horrible but did make me feel a little better. dh has promised to pick some up tonight, otherwise i will be sending him back to tesco when he gets home!

ErikaMaye · 17/10/2009 10:12

I'm so jealous of all these wonderful sounding beds. I was supposed to be getting a double for my birthday, but there isn't room for one plus cot in my room - so I'm still in a single. Thankfully DP doesn't wiggle too much, otherwise he'd be on the floor for a month

Am feeling really fed up today, for no particular reason. I can't even be arsed to get ready to go over to DPs. I just have no drive whatsoever today!!

Anyway.

Tip for those with bad backs / SPD that I accidentally discovered a while ago - if you have one of those wedge support pillows, using it backwards is a blessing. Putting it under your hip and back instead of bump, I mean!! I'm so much more comortable like that.

Comma you have to have a CS if you have a cold sore?! Well that's something I haven't heard... I'm going to be paranoid now!! I really hope your DH feels better soon - and that he doesn't pass it on to you!

Fruit glad to hear you got a good nights sleep

Scarlotti men, huh? I hope you have a nice day at least

Becky do it DP still has bets going on that I will be in labour that night (thanks, love...) but if not will most certainly be dressing up - or at least trying to Hmm... How about as the headless horseman? A shirt that is too big done up above his head ( with eye holes cut in, obviously!!) and a paper mache head under his arm? Ohhh I love Hallow'een

beepbeep · 17/10/2009 11:10

We had lovely evening out last night - went round to SIL & BILs with rest of DHs siblings, we all made curries & took them - no one had money to go out for a meal. Also took the cookies I'd made with some really nice vanilla ice cream - went down very well!! NIce to get out but am absolutely shattered now and feeling a bit coldy.

Going out with friend this aft (DH has both DCs!!). Popping into Banbury to do some shopping and cup of coffee'ing! She is a friend I met in hospital 3 years a go with DD and we see each other usually at least once a week, but this is the first time we have ever spent time together wthout the children - bizarre!

I know what you all mean about givng baby no attention 2nd time round, I remember feeling guilty about it with DS, but think 3rd time round it's even worse! Poor thing hasn't even got a name yet!

Hope everyone has lovely saturdays.

BeckyBendyLegs · 17/10/2009 11:19

Say hello to Banbury for me Beepbeep. We'd often go in on a Saturday, go to Gap, Waterstones, across to the Early Learning Centre, and back a coffee in Costa Coffee.

Erika I like your costume idea!

Trikken · 17/10/2009 11:22

beepbeep hope you have fun with your friend today. have a big chocolate muffin for me with your coffee!

helips · 17/10/2009 11:44

lissy I feel your pain, men can be so thoughtless sometimes. Hope you are ok and that after your scare dh starts treating you better and looking after you.

I got a big bunch of flowers delivered yesterday from dh to apologise for the other night, I told him it was a start he then cooked dinner and I had a lovely lay-in this morning plus he didn't drink at all last night. Think he does feel bad about his behaviour so I will forgive him, just this once!

Had some quite painful braxton hicks last night, didn't realise they could feel like that and actually thought I could be in labour. Everything is fine this morning though but it's given me a real kick up the bum to get everything ready, cue lots of cooking and cleaning for me (but will mind those sockets wook)

Glad to hear you and bubba are ok wook after your shock, must have been scary. Hope you are taking things easy today.

pavlov yay to the loft being finished! must be a weight off your mind, now get painting!

Right, best stop mnetting and get on with my nesting, have a great day everyone

southernbelle77 · 17/10/2009 12:00

Goodness, what a lot to catch up on over night!

Glad you are ok now wook and best stay away from any cleaning from now on!

Hope you are ok too Lissy. And I hope DH is going to be better from now on and treat you well.

Pavlov - do you REALLY need a new bed??!! If so, work out how much it would cost you over each day for a year (my mum used to do this and when you see it in penny's etc, it makes you feel so much better about the purchase

I have to admit to throughly enjoying a night without dd . We had a takeaway and watched tv and went to bed when we wanted and didn't have to get up so early this morning. We were still awake by 7.30am but we were able to stay in bed and get up slowly and then I had a lovely long bath listening to music and reading my magazine!

Comma2 · 17/10/2009 12:47

oooooh southernbelle a bath....we have a tiny tub, so haven't fit in it for ever....

sleeplessinthecity · 17/10/2009 14:11

lissy hope all is ok.. your DH's behaviour is not good or normal as he says. I hope he realises this and how scared you must be at this minute with the impending birth and the show..you should not be allowed to stress at this point so put yourself first..Its an order.

Do men even realise what is happening?????

Fruitpastels · 17/10/2009 15:00

Lissy I missed your post. I hope today is a better day for you. It's not right that you should have this to deal with. I hope your DH makes it up to you.

Comma2 · 17/10/2009 15:15

I think that a) lots of men don't realize what's happening and b) my mucous plug just came out of my nose.

Will go back to bed.

Trikken · 17/10/2009 15:30

sometimes I think the closer it gets to the baby the more closed off men can get, until we actually go into labour.

dh said this morning that he thought I was going into labour last night cos the amount of times I got up. nice of him to check then eh?!

wook · 17/10/2009 15:47

Helips great for you to get the flowers and apology! Some men get it- in the end! Lissy I hope yours arrive soon!

Comma lol at your mucous plug!! I laughed so much I nearly lost mine!

Ninja thanks for making me feel less of a fool, it's good to have company in the D'oh! corner!

Well, turns out I literally cannot stop cleaning. But I have been wearing rubber soled shoes to do it. So far today I have bleached and dettolled every light switch, tap, handle, plug etc in the house, attacked all taps and nozzles with limescale killer, gone at the tiles with Grotbuster, cleaned the skirting boards in the loo, the floor, the mirrors... I can't believe how dirty everything is, it's as if I suddenly have a sixth sense and can see things that were previously invisible, like tiny little blobs of grease -eeeeurgh! The house is still a tip though! Got to crack on. Like a woman possessed!

sleeplessinthecity · 17/10/2009 15:54

comma am in hysterics over your mucous plug joke..in danger of losing mine too!!!!

wook you're possessed. I seem to cleaning up after DD and DH today...no time to do the skirting boards..its a new house so am living in ignorance. Good going tho girl...slitz those germs!

DCs and DPs and DHS are all in denial...maybe we are too

scarlotti · 17/10/2009 17:35

wook I predict you are next!! that sounds like proper nesting to me!

From a shaky start to a great day - went and woke DH up at 9:30 and then went back to bed for a nap After lunch we've put together DS' new big boy bed, taken down the cot bed and put away all sorts of bits that have been cluttering up the hallway. Feel like we've really accomplished stuff today and now will celebrate with take away pizza and x-factor later!!

scarlotti · 17/10/2009 19:00

Question: does anyone know the best way to sell reusable nappies?

I was given a Little Lamb size 1 set to try by a friend but am going to use disposables (just too lazy!) She's wanting to sell them so seems daft for me to post them back to her, in order for her to sell and post on.

Shout if any of you ladies would be interested!
