Morning! Sorry for bad sleeps and poorlies Dd2 (and ds) also poorly here and off school (she will be back tomorrow as has seemingly 'picked up'...)
Overslept this morning . Woke ds up at 10.30pm for 2 ozs of milk and then he slept till 7.15 (well, only me waking up in a panic at our lateness woke him!). A few more days of 2ozs then will drop that feed. I think that's what gf says to do?
Wasn't surprised the twins went; think their time was up and they weren't that bothered. Enjoying Celebrity - thought Jordan might go as evictions start tonight (call ne cynical).
House a state here too KAYZ! Have run out of tablets for dishwasher and in my laziness have put washing up liquid in it ...same principle surely? Will let you know if bubbles start coming out of the door!

essenceofSES · 23/11/2009 10:59

Morning!

Cant - that must have been absolutely awful. Thank goodness it was no worse.

Tink - sorry for bad night and poorly DD2.

Diege - sounds like J is doing well with his sleeping and is on track to drop his dreamfeed.

Did anyone see the Spurs result??!

Nothing planned here today so going to pop into town for a bit and then come back and do some cleaning.

Hi Kay and anyone else lurking!

Diege · 23/11/2009 11:48

Well bubbles DID come out of the door and the disches are still dirty. Serves me right for being lazy Did look quite dramatic the bubbles spreading out over the floor, esp with dd2 screaming
Hi SES! Quiet day sounds good - is it raining where you are? We're trying to sort out carpets for the new house - would be great if we could get them fitted before we move in. It is a very old house and needs updating, but new carpets throughout would be a great start
Hope everyone's ok!

gingerbreadlatte · 23/11/2009 13:19

Hi everyone

What a horrible day! well it is down south anyway.

Cant- what a nightmare, hope that you and DD are ok.

SOrry for you lot with sicklies... cant be much fun. Im waiting for DD to come home from nursery with something but nothing yet. She is still getting 3 BFs a day and 1 FF so am hoping thats helping with her immunity. Cleraly though I've jinxed that and will spend night awake mopping vomit.

Diege- hope you are still smiling after your exchange.

IDOB- hows things with DD? hope that day was a one off.

Had a great weekend. Went for afternoon tea with my NCT pals. No babies, which was fab, but we enevitably discussed babies and who will be the next to get pregnant all afternoon!.

Sunday was my godsons christening - was lovely. I must be getting mumsy as I found myself really enjoying singing the hymns in the church!

This morning I was rather alarmed when the small giraffe managed to fall off the bed. No idea how- one second she was sitting upright, next she was face down on the floor fortunately she landed on my husbands pile of clothes by the bed (should be grateful on this occasion!) and she was just shocked I think- but wow- do I feel guilty especially as I took her straight to nursery afterwards.

Off to my physio appt now- but looking outside I may need wetsuit. :-S

Hi everyone

essenceofSES · 23/11/2009 16:17

Gingerbreadlatte - sounds like you had a fantastic weekend
That was a well placed pile of clothes this morning for DD! It's amazing how resilient they are though isn't it? DS keeps banging into radiators, coffee table, tv cabinet and doesn't seem bothered!

Diege - hope your kitchen is now dry!
Your new house sounds lovely and nice that it needs a bit of work - you can place your stamp on it quickly and you have an excuse for shopping!

Definitely a quiet day here. Popped into town and bought DS his stocking for Christmas. It plays "We wish you a merry Christmas"!
Also bought him a Christmas bib. I've resisted a "1st Christmas" outfit but this bib is a coverall one with sleeves and is basically a Santa red jacket with a beard at the top.

DH is away again tonight in Scotland so will be a quiet evening in too.

Diege · 23/11/2009 16:49

That does sound like a busy weekend GINGER Did you tell your nct friends about your ttc plans? Don't worry about the fall, inevitable I'm afraid! Good that the clothes were there (dds never had that luck!)
Hi SES, xmas bib sounds very cute. My mum has bought ds one that plays music and I've so far resisted xmas costumes etc..Hope your evening is ok; must be hard with dh away.
Still raining here and have to head out to get dd3 from nursery in a minute. Have started getting the packing bug, just need boxes!!!

gingerbreadlatte · 23/11/2009 17:48
  • thanks Diege. Thats how you spell inevitable. My brain really has gone to mush since being on maternity leave. I'd really better pull my socks up (am being serious btw, wasnt being sarcastic!)

Oddly, despite the converstation I dont know if I mentioned my TTC plans- we were too busy winding up the girls who keep going on dirty weekends away without the babies (how?- I am very envious!).

Ses- Glad to hear other babies are bumping things too. She's had a few bangs against the cot bars but nothing this bad before. Im sure she is fine or the nursery would have phoned. Hope your evening is ok. I rather enjoy evenings at home alone. Get to eat what I want and watch tv. Hope im not the only one

hi everyone else.

I'd better go and tidy up before DH comes home from nursery with the SG.

Diege · 23/11/2009 18:08

I LOVE evenings alone GINGER . I get very excited about what I'm going to eat and even push out the boat sometimes and rent a dvd .
Looking forward to I'm a Celebrity tonight and a take away from the new curry restaurant: the house celebrations continue

gingerbreadlatte · 23/11/2009 18:56

OOh enjoy your curry Diege. Love curry

GLad Im not alone in enjoying solitude. DH has a few xmas dos he is staying away for. I am positively thrilled. Sounds mean but I like being me for an evening!

IDOBisamummy · 23/11/2009 19:51

Evening all,

took DD to her first swimming lesson today - well I watched from the side while DP took her in. It was great, she looked very relaxed floating around the pool while DP sang silly songs. It was just about the first time today she has been awake and not crying. She has had a couple of difficult days recently - not as bad as last week, thanks for asking Ginger. I think we may have hit the dreaded 6 week growth spurt. She wants to feed for much longer than usual but is fussing and wriggling and throwing her head about when latched on so I have really sore nipples again. She isn't napping that well either (though she sleeps well at night), she's taking longer to settle and often wakes up crying even though she is clearly exhausted. Does any of that sound like the symptoms of a growth spurt? It has been a bit of a shock as she has been so smiley, relaxed and easy to work out until now and now she seems to be screaming/crying constantly when she is awake, poor little girl. I can't work out whether she is hungry, looking for comfort, bored, windy, tired or something else which is a bit stressful .

Diege - hope you enjoyed the curry! We had a sneaky takeout tonight too. LOL at dishwasher bubbles, sounds like something I would do. Is your kitchen dry now?

Can't - poor DD, hope she is feeling better today. You must have been so worried, it's awful sitting at home waiting for news.

Ginger - sounds like a lovely weekend. How clever of DD to fall onto a pile of clothes! How is she enjoying nursery?

Tink - glad DD is behaving herself!

Ses - bib and stocking sund cute! I have ordered DD a stocking with her name on it - DP thinks it is sad but I don't care. I think it's cute and I only have 1 chance to do these things and use the 'new mum' excuse .

Kay - did you manage to clear all DS's toys cleared away before he got them all out again .

essenceofSES · 23/11/2009 22:01

IDOB - sorry DD isn't so settled during the day. I know it's a cliche but it is a phase that will pass. I'm not sure from what you've said what is causing it - could be a variety of things but I know I learnt that whatever my instincts told me was probably right. I don't know why but it must be that "mother's instinct" they talk about
It could well be the 6 week growth spurt if she is feeding more and in that case, just camp on the sofa surrounded by drinks and cake or chocolate with rubbish tv on and tell yourself that you don't have to do anything else!
FWIW it does sound like you are doing v well and I'm of C's nightime sleeping!

Well I've enjoyed my evening on my own so far. O has been asleep since 7.45pm. There's been a few murmurings but he seems settled at the moment (long may it continue!) I had a lovely long hour+ chat on the phone with my bf in York. Ages since we've been able to have a proper catch up and a natter.
Just had left over roast for tea but now scoffing enjoying some M&S chocolate cherry liquers.

Hope everyone else is ok and has good nights!

Kayzr · 24/11/2009 08:02

Morning,

IDOB, Sorry DD is napping well during the day. It does sound like the 6 week growth spurt.

Lounge is still a mess but going to make DH do it today as I am at work 9-5 and he is off today. I did clean the kitchen though so I did do something.

I am thinking about not taking the pill anymore so I can start to work out my cycle so we can try that shettles method for a girl. But I am worried I will just end up getting pg because I am so broody!

Hope everyone is ok!

OP posts:
essenceofSES · 24/11/2009 09:23

Kay - that's a difficult one! I guess if it's that important to you that you want a girl, you'll need to be careful. Having said that, I know it's not that easy and also not guaranteed! (Sorry, I'm no help am I!)

Owen slept for just under 5hrs again last night - that's now 3 times in a week! Only problem was that it was between 7.45 and 12.30 and when I went to bed at 10.30, I couldn't sleep! So I didn't actually get to sleep until 1.15am

Off to Jo Jingles this morning and then this afternoon I have a friend coming over who I haven't seen for 2yrs as she now lives in Oz. She's over here trying to catch up with as many people as possible. Will be great to see her and introduce O.

Hope you all have good days

Diege · 24/11/2009 09:39

Morning . Sounds like a great day planned SES; will be good to see your friends again and to show O off
IDOB, swimming with dd sounds good Agree that the screaming does sound like a phase, possibly linked to a growth spurt. Like so many baby related things it's impossible to know but WILL pass.
KAYZ, good idea to start tracking your cycle (OMG will we have a honk soon? )We didn't do anything different timing -wise for a boy, as we didn't have a preference, but looking back it was early in my cycle that I conceived and think the deed was done 24 hours before ovulation day as opposed to after. Not sure if that fits with Shettles!
Hope everyone is ok. Ds has a very bad cough and isn't feeding very well, but we're coping. DD2 back at school today which makes a huge difference..really hope they don;t ring up!
Off to look at carpets later for the new house - sadly exciting!

tinkisnotlongtillchristmas · 24/11/2009 09:42

cantmummyhaveabreak · 24/11/2009 09:43

Only popping on- have both DD's at home today as DD1 still can't even put her foot on the floor without screaming in pain.

Has been such a hectic weekend- and now have a hectic week to follow now!! Have had to use a double pram to get DS to school too and it's so blimin heavy!! Dont know how some of you cope with a double!!

tinkisnotlongtillchristmas · 24/11/2009 10:24

poor u cant hope things calm down

Moosy · 24/11/2009 11:04

Can't, if it's not geting any better yet I'd take her back to be looked at again. I've heard of xrays missing greenstick fractures in children sometimes and if it's still that painful for her it might be worth a second look?

Sparklytwinkletoes · 24/11/2009 16:48

hi guys - been reading but struggling to post, not that good at this one handed typing, really must try harder

diege - fab news about the house, am very pleased for you

can't - sorry about dd1, echo what moosy said about getting her checked again

idob - ds2 seems to be the same as your dd, fussing, won't let me put him down, not napping, etc am relieved to hear it could be down to a growth spurt.

struggling to get anything done, am i being impatient about wanting him to sit in his swing for a few mins while i get stuff done? - not asking for hours, just getting a coffee without supersobs kicking in would be nice!

tinkisnotlongtillchristmas · 24/11/2009 17:18
