Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
GruffaloSoldier · 20/11/2009 19:42

hi all!

I have just been gobbling up some sushi while I caught up!Have had a busy couple of days.

Ses sorry to hear about your colleague.

Congrats diege! that is fantastic news! what awful people though just trying their luck so glad you didnt back down.

Moosy - sounds exciting - hooray for things getting ready

Cant - glad DS is settling down.

Tink - good that it was just the cereal bar today. she really likes scissors huh?!

Star - my routine started GF but now its very much GC I just started to write down his routine but its long and boring. Basically he has up to 1200ml of milk and 3 meals. He sleeps half an hour at naps 3x a day. Bed by 7pm, up between 6.30am - 8am depending on...who knows??sometimes has a feed in the early hours if I have messed up his food routine in the day

Have known people to use pick up/put down method and they said it works well. we use dummy in day as he doesn't like napping, but he doesnt use them at night. he self settles, do use controlled crying occasionally but not as strict, would let him cry for a short time. go and give him a cuddle then leave him for a bit. and keep doing that til he goes to sleep. Only if it was a 'self settling cry'did we leave him to it. which is like intermittent and not that loud and he would be lying still as opposed to rolling around the cot.

god thats really long I think ill leave it there!

Hello Kayz, Ginger, IDOB,anyone else Ive missed.

Starshinetiger · 20/11/2009 20:11

Thanks Gruff!
Thanks too Can't for letting me know what DD2 eats. DD eats nowhere near that much and given that a) I have seen her self-settle b) she will go down for decent naps in the day without feeding to sleep and it doesn't take long to get her down (albeit most of getting her down is cuddling and just last bit in the cot - am trying to progress to getting her to be put down gradually further away from actually being asleep) and c) she is obviously not taking big meals in at mealtimes, I am going to keep letting her feed in night until she is eating properly. We had progress tonight - she took 2/3 of a 4-6 month jar that had protein (and no fruit) in it - chicken rice and vegetables (thanks Diege for suggesting the 4-6 month jars as they are more pureed) and then had 2/3 pot of fruit after, plus cucumber and bread she was chewing on. This was a very good meal for her, so we'll see how she goes! Thanks all for your support, will try to quit with the me, me, me posts for a while at least

Diege - again, sooo pleased for you!

Moos - ooh, exciting. Do you think this could be something starting?! You certainly sound like you're prepared with all your Christmas shopping done and cards too.

essenceofSES · 20/11/2009 20:30

Diege - Yay!!!
So relieved for you. How's the packing going?!

Moos - sounds positive! Not long now

Tink - bet you're pleased with DD1 today!

Star - don't worry about your posts as I'm finding the discussion all v interesting. DS has always been on his own routine but now we're weaning, I've been thinking I need to be a bit more structured to ensure I fit in 3 meals.
Good luck for tonight!

Hello Gruff, Ginger, Kayz, IDOB.

Thanks for everyone's comments re guy from work. It's stuck with me as is such a shock and v sad. All we know is that he went to bed last night and never woke up. He is a FB friend of mine and his wall is filling up with tributes

Diege · 21/11/2009 08:43

Morning Thanks again for congrats. No 'active' packing as such yet SES, just 'passively' putting it into loose piles that spread out throughout the day. I think we need some boxes
GRUFF, phew just 3 half hour naps a day? YOu must be shattered! I live for the 2 hour lunch time nap, though I know (if ds is like dds) that I should make the most of it as it doesn;t seem to last for long! How are youn feeling in yourself? |Are things OK withn your mum?
STAR, that meal of dd's sounds brilliant! Sounds like she has quite an appetite. I am also enjoying hearing about your routine; I think routines are fascinating
Still sinking in that we have the house. It is so beautiful and I can actually start walking past it again now! It was once a very busy house with lots of children but has been empty for 2 years. Will be so great to be in for Christmad, with a real tree and lots of noise!
Better get dressed. DD1 is at a gymnastics competition and very nervous. Many years ago I competed in gymnastics at national (juniors) level for Wales so have my dreams for her but as long as she has fun that's the main thing. Also looking forward to X-factor tonight - George Michael night

Diege · 21/11/2009 08:44

'Christmad'?! A new one for the wagon

tinkisnotlongtillchristmas · 21/11/2009 09:51

hi

morning ladies

good luck moosy
hi diege - i am looking forward to george michael night to
off to get me and dh advent calenders in town
waves to other ladies

Diege · 21/11/2009 11:18

Hi TINKS! You've just reminded me about advent calenders; thinking of trying non-chocolate ones this yers for the dds as I think they're much nicer. Not sure how well this will go down though!

Diege · 21/11/2009 11:34

Err, scrap that non-choc advent calender idea...if I want a quiet life it's cadburys all the way from the response I've just got from the dds

gingerbreadlatte · 21/11/2009 13:03

Hi there

ooh fingers crossed Moosy!

LOL about advent calenders. Non choc ones are really hard to find these days.

my dad bought DD an advent thing with 24 little pouches on a string that we can fill up each year. Not that she has noticed it this year but its an attractive decoration too!

Off out for NCT xmas do this afternoon. We are going for afternoon tea at a posh hotel near here. Not so much a wild party but definately my kind of christmas do.

tinkisnotlongtillchristmas · 21/11/2009 13:14

diege - get them playmobile ones dd1 is getting a princess playmobile one you get a playmobile toy each day
me and dh have got a lindt one
dd1 is obssesed with choccy
sounds nice ginger

Diege · 21/11/2009 13:37

ooh GINGER, your afternoon sounds lovely. Are you taking the babies too? (is that a daft question? ) Def more my kind of thing too than a wild party!
Think playmobil times 3 may be a bit chaotic TINKS As long as they get choc they're happy. The only place I found the non-choc ones this year was the charity shops (new of course!).
DD still not back from gym with dh - think they're 'taking advanatge' shall we say and having lunch out

Moosy · 21/11/2009 15:02

I've got some non-choc calendars this year, I found them in Clinton Cards - I think they always have them in but they sell out fairly quickly.

No more niggles today and I don't feel as heavy as yesterday. Ho hum.

Are you still ing diege, you must be so pleased about the house!

Diege · 21/11/2009 16:26

Still ing MOOS . Have just been for a walk past the new house, trying to look inconspicuous as I peeped over the fence .
Too late for the calender tip-off I'm afraid! Have succombed to simpsons, HSM and winnie the pooh ones I have lovely memories of the picture ones as a child, and being genuinely excited to see what the picture was every day. Think the nature of niggles is that they do come and go, so nice to have a day off!

Kayzr · 21/11/2009 18:48

Hello,

Diege, Hope DD1 got on well. I competed in gymnastic competitions too. My sister was in the 2000 Sydney Olympic team but then got pg with my neice so had to pull out. I would love to get the boys into it but DH always looks like this when I mention it.

The boys both have chocolate advent calendars but DS1 has one that MIL got him last year that has 25 pockets. So now I have to find 25 things to put in them.

Hope everyone is well.

tinkisnotlongtillchristmas · 22/11/2009 08:59

morning
i luved geprge michael xfactor night
and bug eaten [shcock]

assembled dd1s playmobile calender took ages have to make up boxes and oput the things in

dd1 enjoyed havinbg her friend round dd1 is abit chaotic @ the mo thing she is tired

Diege · 22/11/2009 09:26

Morning! Also enjoyed x-factor and bug-eating I really like Joe and will be voting for him I think, def the strongest voice. Thought Danyl was very much out of tune in places and that the others were just OK (well Olly and Stacey better than ok).
KAYZ, wow that's really impressive about your sister and the Olymoic squad. Dies she look back and regret the timing of her pregnancy? (regret in a loose way iykwim, in terms of missing out on a lifetime opp?) I'd love ds to get into gymnastics - tell your dh to look at the muscles of the men, not for wimps!).
MIL coming round today, but not till later so have time to tidy up a bit.Seems a bit futile now tidying up when everything will be going in boxes . Have just de-nitted the girls and will go up and do my own hair in a minute.
Hope everyone is ok. Oh and reduced ds's dream feed to 2ozs last night, so a week of that and if he's still sleeping through will drop it. Oh the bliss of being able to go to bed at 9pm!

tinkisnotlongtillchristmas · 22/11/2009 10:10

hi diege

i am not sure about joe think better for theatre and west end. i like danyl and jedward and usually ollie wasnt keen on his last night performance!!
sorry about denitting

as well as ordering in boots and trainers to clarks to collect sat have ordered in doodle slipper look so cute dd1s slippers are 2 small
have a good day
chuking it down here off to do dance mat now and wii fit!!!

essenceofSES · 22/11/2009 10:18

Morning!

All this gymnastics talent is v impressive!

Advent calendars - i've never had a chocolate one. This year I've found one with a lovely cartoon picture of a children's nativity play.

XFactor - I agree that Stacey, Olly and Joe were best. I do think that if Joe wins though, he'll have one album and then go into the West End.

Diege - no chance of MIL helping with the packing then??!

Gingerbreadlatte - your afternoon sounds lovely

DH was at Twickenham at the rugby all day yesterday and then on a "corporate" piss up afterwards. DS and I met up with my younger brother and his GF for lunch and then met up with one of my NCT friends. Her DD kept laughing at me! Wasn't sure whether to take it as a compliment or not!!

Starshinetiger · 22/11/2009 10:21

Just posting while I remember - some of you were talking about Christmas outfits - if anyone's DC is in 3-6 month clothes, I have DS' Christmas outfit from a couple of years ago in the loft. Am happy to send it to someone for use as long as I get it back after Christmas (want to keep for loaning out to sister/friends as and when...) Will be able to post a photo on my profile when we get our computer back from the undertaker mender's.

Have a good Sunday all!

Diege · 22/11/2009 13:39

Hello! You do have a good social life SES, am very . Hmm, think it will take all my powers of persuasion not to let MIL help - we have already had offers of all her old tatt bits of furniture as it's a Victorian house, but it's not really my taste. I like 'old' but more vintage with a funky twist (like Bombay Duck stuff) so have sadly had to decline
TINKS, congrats on gettig your dds into slippers. My lot never keep them on and I have several pairs that are scattered about having been worn just the once!
STAR, that's very kind of you to offer the clothes and I would have taken you up on it bu sadly ds is bursting out of his 6-9 months. A bit peeved as bought a santa top in Sept 6-9 months and think it will be a squeeze!
Right, back to e-bay listing. Want to sell what I can rather than having to move it all. Oh and we have permission to take dds to the new house and run around the garden from the owner - should be fun!

tinkisnotlongtillchristmas · 22/11/2009 13:59

hi st - cheers for offer dd2 is in 9-12 mnth clothes
diege - dd doesnt wear hers they are small now hoping doodle ones will persuade

cantmummyhaveabreak · 22/11/2009 16:37

morning- can't stop really, just popping on to check emails. Went to cheshire oaks today for xmas shopping. Let the DC's on the park while i fed DD2... anyway a sign said it was for ages 6-12 (park was obviously suitable for younger as there were LO's that looked much younger than DD1 playing on it)... anyway i joked to DH, 'it's only got that so if they are younger and hurt themselves you can't sue'.... anyway next thing we know DD1 trips and falls with her leg half into a metal tunnel thing to crawl through- starts screaming- you know, the scream which instantly makes you know something is badly wrong... it swelled up instantly and is all blue, can't put any weight on it despite all her efforts so she could ahve some stick-on earrings... Dh has taken her to A&E and i'm just waiting on news.... they've been there about an hour so far....

Diege · 22/11/2009 16:52

Oh bloody hell CANT what a nightmare . Really hope it's not too serious and just bruising. Let us know when you get a chance x

cantmummyhaveabreak · 22/11/2009 17:20

Still not heard a thing... i'm pacing about and just wanna know how she is.... i'm so upset for her, she was in tears as she didn't wanna have to go without me but it made no sence for the lot of us to go....

cantmummyhaveabreak · 22/11/2009 18:00

Panic is over- DH has just got back, it's just some bad tissue damage she'll be as normal within a few days. .... night ladies. will be about in the next day or so.
