Morning all - just checking in again. I started looking at that AIBU thread yesterday but didn't look again, must see what's been going on since...she hadn't spoken to her when I last looked...

Ses - good news on the big sleep and not in your bed, I'm guessing that me being awake at a similar time is not much consolation

Diege - sounds like J is doing really well.

I woke at 3 needing the loo (TMI, a no 2, have never woken up needing one of those in the middle of the night before!), then contractions started about 3.15 then tailed off by 4, so listened to my hypnobirthing vbac cd for a bit, then some robbie w (swing album) before finally dropping off again.

DS woke at 7 this morning (although ALWAYS sleeps in during the week ) but lucky for me, DH got up with him and I went back to sleep, they've gone to get their hair cut, should be back any minute. Postie woke me up with a last minute delivery of RLT capsules. No idea if they'll be any use at all at this stage, but better late than never. I'll be straight onto two a day, unless I find anything that says I can take more .

I'd actually (insanely) rather baby didn't arrive till Monday now, as IL's don't work the weekend and they'll be straight on the bloody road like they were last time - I could really do without to be honest - I felt I got no private time at all with DS. However, selfishly, the minute I go into labour, mum's going to head over to be with me, she's never seen any of her GC when 'new' so want to give her the chance if possible! She's down as a birth partner - hope she behaves herself and doesn't boss DH around too much . Amazing how we tolerate our own isn't it!

Hello! Back from v.succesful shopping trip, with coat, hat and gloves for me, jeans, a dress and top for dd3 and 2 tops and some sleep suits (plus a halloween suit) for ds. Poor dds 1 & 2 had to make do with a pair of scholl tights each Also purchased some 'treggings' from Topshop - my god they look awful so they'll be going back next week, lol
STT will delay labour dance for a day or two then, althouh now you're wishing for Monday, you do realise baby will arrive before then don't you?

Hi guys, still here - and its the first weekend that we've just had a chill day for a VERY long time...so, i've finally managed to get DH to get the double buggy out of the attic, and we've just realised we have a problem .

(This should kick start arrival huh!)

OK, we have a silver cross 'Pop' stroller, which we take away with us for DS when we go away with weekends (quite often, visiting family etc).

We also have a large Graco travel system, in brill condition, which we both love - its big, strong, protective (very cocoon like) and carries an awesome amount of DH's junk bags and DS kit.

We were given (ages ago) a Graco tandem pushchair, just got it down, thinking perhaps we could use it - however, DH says that we can't use it when we go away for the weekend as won't be able to fit anything else in the boot with it.

No room to fit normal Graco as it is, and the tandem has virtually the same footprint - hence why we got the Pop.

So, I have a newborn that's 4 days overdue, a nearly three year old.

What the f am I going to do? Do I bother with a pushchair for DS? Thing is, we often go out for the day, and whilst he does walk alot, he can't manage all day.

I can use a sling for the newborn so DS can use the pushchair - would use the single Graco so it can be used to carry the change bags etc - the shopping bag on the POP is rubbish. But the idea of the travel system, and what we liked about it was putting DS in the car seat, then putting the car seat on top of the pram - which won't work if DS wants to sit in it.

Oh bum. How did I get to 40+4 without even considering wheels?

Report
Sparklytwinkletoes · 10/10/2009 18:44

Oh, and a Lascal buggy board doesn't work with the graco single either...

And the graco tandem is missing the canopy off the front, only has one foot muff, the car seat doesn't seem to 'lock' into the baby section as it does on the single (although I maybe missing something) and there's no raincover.

I don't even know what I want - my head hurts too much.

Report
Sparklytwinkletoes · 10/10/2009 18:49

Bum, and I've just realised Glask is now on holiday and I'm fairly sure that she's our resident pram shopaholic - so Diege, Tink - over to you!?

Is DS being lazy btw? The pushchairs I've been looking at seem to say up to three years - does that mean he's not supposed to need one anymore?

Report
Diege · 10/10/2009 19:38

Right STT let's get you sorted . At nearly 3 I'd say that yes, ds does need either a buggy board or a buggy. DD3 was 3.5 when ds came along and she's happy to walk, but rewind 6 months and it would have been a problem.
OK, so double would probably be ok with the one foot muff thingy for baby (though canopy an issue) and rain cover may be a problem. Could you do withiut car seat adaptor and just lay baby flat? Thinking about it I think I would actually get a buggy board that fits on the single buggy you have now (travel system?)as this would work out the cheaper option. Or if you really want a double buggy you could probably pick up a very cheap one for slightly more than it would cost to replace the raincover (I;m serious, they really inflate cost of repalcement ones!). Probably no help whatsoever, but at least you have a few days to get it sorted rather than getting a surprise when you have a very new baby to deal with!
Hi TINKS, your day sounds nice
Right, bottles then x-factor!

Hey STT, would be really grateful if you could send me your birth plans to have a quick look at (sorry for asking so last minute). I have been thinking about preferences but am struggling to put something on paper as I'm not really sure exactly what I do/don't have a choice about. It would be great to have a quick look at yours just for my own peace of mind. Do you need my e-mail address, I'll stick it on the FB page just in case? Hope your LO arrives on Monday and you sort out the buggy.

Strangely now that the induction is looking fairly definite I'm feeling quite calm about it - I think hoping for the home birth was stopping me from just dealing with the idea of an induction. It's not what I wanted but far from the worst thing in the world and I am really looking forward to holding my baby so I am getting quite excited. Thanks for 'listening' to all my worrying/complaining over the past couple of weeks guys .

Right, I promise to be back as a proper wagoner next week and stop just posting about me !!!

IDOB - pleasure to listen, isn't that what the wagon has always been about - and I'm not sure my posts have been about much else other than me of late either!

Will flick over to FB now, then email my BP over, I started off with a template from boots parenting club then modified it using some of the threads and topics from here. Hope you find it useful.....

Morning,

Steven Gately from Boyzone has died suddenly. I have been in love with him since I was 11. I am devastated and if DH wasn't at work later I would still be curled up in bed. Poor DS1 has no idea why I can not stop crying but keeps cuddling me.

Hope everyone is ok.

Morning!

Kay- I saw that and thought of you as I remembered you being a fan

Spa day was great girlie day Unfortunately I had a headache all day ( and still do ) and the music wasn't working in the room I had my massage in so the girl felt she had to talk all the way through!
DH got together with 2 of the other dads & babies and then we all met up for an hour or so afterwards.

Got home in time for bedtime routine and DS now seems to settle easily at 7pm. He slept til just gone 10 so he obviously knew I wanted to watch XFactor! I then fed him and he slept 10.50-3.20 so not bad. Then a couple of 1.5hr sleeps.

No plans for today yet.

STT - flying post. So, DS was 2.5 when DD arrived. Having dropped his nap the day before she was born, I did still need the buggy for him to sleep in if we were out and about. So, have used my McLaren (with buggy board on) a lot. In first couple of months, commonly went out with sling, McLaren and buggy board. When I needed to get out, would pop DD in sling, DS in McLaren and go for a walk (I remember with DD at nearly 3 months old, walking into town after lunch like this and both fell asleep - was bliss. I got to Costa, DD woke up for a feed, so I sat having a coffee, feeding DD, while DS stayed asleep in the buggy. But, on the most hand, DS has walked, or ridden on buggy board and DD has been in pram. Have kept DD in carseat far less than did with DS. Only have buggy board attachments on McLaren and not on our travel system, so have used the travel system only when we've been going out as a family, so DH could have DS on his shoulders if necessary.

So, in your situation, I would either, a) get a buggy board that fits your single travel system, b) buy a Phil & Teds off Ebay (or some other second hand site) - we so nearly bought one and even stopped people in the street to ask about them and they all raved about them, but with DS so good at walking, we didn't shell out in the end and am glad we didn't, there have been less than 5 times when I wished we had one, or c) buy something like the McLaren that folds up compact, but also can be used from newborn. I often have DD in carseat and transfer her to the McLaren when we go out - if she's tired, she normally goes back to sleep.

That's just my twopenneth experience and hope it helps. DS is now 3 and the other day when we went into town he fell asleep in car on way in and I thought he would wake up when I got him out of car, but he didn't - I transferred him to buggy and had to carry DD (so wished I'd had the sling), then when he'd had 30 mins kip, swapped them over - worked fine. So, really depends on your children, but I wouldn't worry too much about double with the age gap you have, but definitly make sure you have a buggy board that will fit on one of your buggys so that you can have options.

Kayz - can't believe Stephen Gately has died - big shock.

IDOB & STT, still sending positive labour vibes (albeit for Monday for you STT)

Morning! Yes sad news about Stephen Gately Hope you're ok KAYZ xx
SES, how annoying about the music at the spa; just what you didn't want! Apart from that did you enjoy it?
STAR, good advice there on the buggy front!
Good x-factor last night (love Joe, Stacey and Danyl) but OMG what in heaven's name did Danni think she was doing with her comments about Danyl?? Poor guy, felt really sorry for him being put in that situation, and very surprised at her!
No plans for today as yet - very tired despite a reasonable night's sleep!

Morning Star, Diege!
Oh yes, did enjoy it. Lovely relaxing time floating around in pool and in jacuzzi and steam room, lovely lunch of salmon & brocolli with pasta and the 6 of us took over the 6 beds in the relaxation room after our massages. We relaxed there with a good natter!

I cometely agree about Dannii's comments. V odd!!! I did like her dress rather than Cheryl's though. Hope she gets a good talking too. My raves are Stacey, Lucie, Joe and Rachel. I like Jamie too but that song didn't really show off his voice.

Just been out for a walk. Met a lovely family with 5 gorgeous children. One of the boys was called Reuben. I love it! Might have to use that if DC3 is another boy.

Diege and others who sell on Ebay. How would you photograph clothes? I have loads of goth stuff I have decided to sell instead of keeping. I think if I stick it on Ebay now it will sell in time for me to post it for Goth Weekend.

I love Reuben KAYZ! How did the parents seem with 5 kids? (exhausted? mad look in their eyes??) just curious
Re: e-bay, it's either the laminate floor or hung against a white door . I tend to favour the floor and photogrpah the whole item(any plain background) and then take a few close ups of various parts of the item. Also take a back shot. All piccies have an enlarge feature now on ebay so buyer can see features up close. Oh and always mention even the tiniest flaw as it will come back to haunt you...I'm sure goth clothes will sell well, although black clothing can be difficult to photograph. Good luck!

They seemed great. The oldest 2 were twins but there is only a year between each child. The twins are 5, Reuben is 4, then a 3yo and then an 18mo. Plus 3 dogs!! Didn't seem mad or exhausted at all.

I'll try to take the pictures against the door. I have 3 skirts, a top and a corset to sell. Hoping they sell.

Ooh that does sound good about the parents . I did have a chat with dh about it all a day or so ago (having another that is)and he is actually warming to the idea. Think moving to a bigger house helps, but I'm still not sure...tbh one of the main things putting me off is what people will think/say
I'm sure your things will sell KAYZ! Make sure you start them off at a bid you'd be ok receiving if the thought of having things go for 99p galls you. Or BIN maybe?
