IWroteOffLightningMcQueen · 05/11/2009 10:17

Hello

Have been trying to read everything, but have kind of skimmed most of it, and so have probably missed loads but here goes!

Glask, glad your period turned up, had me skimming faster than ever waiting for the answer!

Huge congrats to STT, hope you've all managed to settle down and DS1 is being a good big brother Also hoping you're recovering well?

Ses, tried to look, but what happened with the job offer? !

Diege, sound's like your buyers are taking the piss a bit and for you, hope you manage to get something sorted, it gets to the point where even if it turns out that they do pull out, at least you'd know and could plan around it somehow. Fingers crossed they'll pull their socks up and just get on with it.

Gruff, fingers crossed for your mum today, and a sneaky for you, think you deserve it.

Sorry for everyone's poorlies, we all had it the week before we moved, DS1 is still coughing but the rest of us are mostly back to normal.

So yes, we've moved, DS1 started at his new school on Monday and seems to be enjoying it, got a party invite on Tuesday so that was nice for him Internet came back on yesterday, but something was up with the settings, it let me on almost all sites except MN was quietly grrrrrrrrring at it all day! Wondered if DH had anything to do with it! But he fixed it last night so I have to be nice

Have been shopping, got some clothes for everyone and some bits for the house, am about to go and do some more now the internet is working properly, yesterday I went through the whole of Debenhams website, put tonnes of stuff into the shopping basket, went to go to the checkout and the bloody page wouldn't load, we needed an online food shop, so did the Tesco site, went to go to the checkout, wouldn't work, it seems the security settings were the problem, just hope the fact that MN is working now means that the other sites will, took me bloody ages on Debenhams yesterday

Oh, just remembered, Diege, JOHN AND EDWARD?????? If you were male I'd be reckening on a mid-life crisis love!

IWroteOffLightningMcQueen · 05/11/2009 10:19

Oooooh new picture,

See, John and Edward:

I like that one already

Kayzr · 05/11/2009 11:19

Lightning that is brilliant news!! I'm so pleased for you. My brother has his test next Wednesday.

OP posts:
IWroteOffLightningMcQueen · 05/11/2009 11:54

Thank you Good luck to your brother. How's your driving coming along?

I thought I had completely cocked it up, I was so nervous, my knee just wouldn't let my leg bend where I wanted it to, so the clutch was making the car jump about all over the place, and I don't know if you know but they pull you over to the side of the road 5 or 6 times during the test to see if you can do it safely etc. well, she pulled me over this one time and when she told me to drive on again I forgot to put the sodding car back in a gear, twice I thought at that point it was all over and I'd failed, so slowly started to relax a bit thinking there's no point getting my knickers in a twist now, we got back to the test centre and as we drove in I said something along the lines of "what a waste of time that was" and she just humphed at me, drove into the bay, turned the engine off she said "well Natalie, I am very pleased to say...." didn't hear the rest, was too busy catching flies! My driving instructor was stood across the car park and I could see him grinning at me LOL What a lovely lovely lovely man he is Of course he'd have been the biggest tosser going if I'd failed!!

Have yet to brave the motorway, but have taken just me and the kids to Preston and Southport, and driven with DH in the car (that was scarier than the first time on my own!) Motorway will be on Saturday, we've got to go back over to Accy to go to a friend's son's bday party/bonfire night thing, and you have to get on the motorway to get there, so I'm driving there, DH is driving back, t'is a good plan me thinks, friend has a well stocked wine cooler fridge type thing!

Diege · 05/11/2009 12:25

Hello! Ooh LIGHTNING that's great news about your driving test . Sounds liek you;re a natural driver - had a feeling you'd pass first time Just goive me a bell if you're up my way, alwaya avai;able fopr a meet-up! (are we still up for Preston/mANCHESTER BTW?)LOL at midlife crisis...I think I have that covered with plans for teeth and tentative botox appointment . Yes really . Twins not my cup of tea (sexually-wise you understand) though wouldn't throw danyl or jamie out for bed for toast crumbs
Enough filth! Great to hear from you STT.! ds sounds adorable though you've had such a stressful time. Can;t wait to see some piccies when you get the chance
TINKS, sorry, never heard of flour mites
KAYZ, how are your driving plans going at the moment?
Have had a teeny bit of progress on the house front . Dh produced a 'dossier' of evidence about the nature of the cnala bank, very much with his engineer's hat on. The EA delivered it to buyers' house last night and the feedback is that it's been very helpful but they'd still like to see thge original plans held by the Manchester Shop Canal . Which apparently no-one can find. So my gut feeling is that it comes down to whether the evidence we (and other structural engineers) have produced is convincing enough (ie, if they actually want to buy the house enough). My god we've passed over a dodgy tree roots, old wiring and damp in the house we're going to!!!
Anyone have plans for tonight? We're having a few fireworks and some hotdogs etc, nothing big but enough to keep the girls happy. Not a massive fan of fireworks myself!

Kayzr · 05/11/2009 12:43

Driving has stopped completely. I am terrified in the car. It did seem to be going really well and then for some reason I just got scared again. Plus we can't afford it at the minute so it's on hold.

OP posts:
Diege · 05/11/2009 13:05

I know where you're coming from with that KAYZ. I don't think I ever got over that fear and hence never even got as far as booking for my test. Added to the fact that I get on really well with public transport means that I finally decided that driving wasn;t for me. Hopefully you'll get your confidence back soon though, as I'm very much in the minority, and it sounds like you';d really benefit from being able to drive from what you say.
Having a bit of a rush on orange kitkats at the moment, off to get one more Throwing it down here - one time I wish I could drive!

IWroteOffLightningMcQueen · 05/11/2009 13:18

Hiya Diege I think you'll probably find the buyers will go with it, I think when you're spending 100,000's of pounds on something, worries and doubts about anything are always going to creep in. And I think if they are buying it to rent, they'll probably be more worried, you tend to think of your own family home that any probs can be fixed, if they are just after the investment potential, they will question what can go wrong, but the fact they have got this far into buying it, shows that really, they want it, they can see something in it worth buying, they've just had too much time to think IYKWIM? Have just read that back and it's not the easiest of read's, but not sure how to make it more understandable, I am missing the key element of facial expressions and body language!

Preston I can do, Manchester will have to wait till I'm happy on the motorway! Don't know how you and anyone else who is interested are fixed but I can't do this weekend, next weekend is fine so far I think, and the week after, DH will be on call on the next one.

Tonight, we're doing nothing! I'll nip and get some sparklers, but not sure about getting fireworks, DS2 hates them (as we found out at Blackpool, seems like months and months ago, think it was only September/October!) but DS1 loves them This bday/bonfire thing we've got on Saturday will be more like bonfire night for us, they're having a bonfire, everyone's chipping in for the fireworks etc. just hoping they'll save the FW for a bit later, i.e. when DS2 is asleep in the car on the way home!

Kay, that's a shame about the driving, could you not keep having a go in the car your mum bought? It's (nearly) free, and it might just be enough to build your confidence for when you can afford to learn?

Diege · 05/11/2009 13:50

Thanks LIGHTNING, yes I think you're right and that it's very much a case of too much time to think . It's just so tough as our sellers are selling an empty house so no sweat there, our 'buyers' don't have to move themselves with buying to let, so while dates are academic for them, for us it's a nightmare as we aren't pack up just yet (or harder still get emotionally attached).
Re: Preston not sure about weekend after this one (14th?) as that may well be our moving day if things progress. May be able to manage the one after? Think CANT may be up for it and anyone else who can make sunny Preston??!

IWroteOffLightningMcQueen · 05/11/2009 14:06

This bloody house buying/selling malarky is just one PITA after another isn't it? Our buyer's solicitor retired half way through their conveyencing, told a few people he was going on holiday, and never came back! We only exchanged the day before completion because we were waiting on the new mortgage offer to come through in their new solicitors name, and then RM went on strike and we thought it would stop it all going through, eventually the bank agreed to accept a faxed copy of the mortgage offer, otherwise we'd not have completed on time. Tell you what though, we're on the other side of it now, no 100's of phone calls in and out, no mountains of post to sort, no chasing up EA's/solicitors/banks/etc. and it's so boring! Honestly, the first few days were manic unpacking, and since then, all I've done is shop, spend, drive and shop a bit more! Never thought it could happen, but I am actually bored of shoping! And I've only bought two xmas pressies so far, and I have two bdays to sort before xmas aswell!

I'll not mention the fact that the first day of having proper internet back (i.e. MN!) I've still not emptied the clean dishwasher and put the breakfast things in yet, and they are all sat on the side with the lunch things now!

tinkisthrillerthrillernight · 05/11/2009 15:51

[shokc] @ bored of shopping lighting!!! great to hear from you sounds like you have been doing me proud with all your shopping!!

kay - shame about driving

diege - good luck with house

i am excited off to c this is it @ 8:40pm cant wait

luv these still looks more like a chick to me!!

essenceofSES · 05/11/2009 16:51

Hello all!

Tink - enjoy the film

Lightning - great to have you back. Congrats on driving!
Re job, DH got all excited but when he asked the headhunters the name of the company, he instantly said no. They're "too commercial" apparently! Bit of a relief tbh. Would be nice if another offer came for somewhere in the Med or the Bahamas.... I can but dream!

Diege - I think Lightning is right about your buyers but how frustrating!

Ooh gotta go! Hello Kay and anyone else around too!!

IWroteOffLightningMcQueen · 05/11/2009 17:20

Tink, it kind of gets a bit boring though when you're buying things just to while away five minutes, or to give you a reason to get out of the house in the morning! And with this bloody weather (don't know if anyone else has had it, not seen the telly/news/weather/pretty much anything for yonks) it's tricky to find things to do with the kids even now I'm driving. This weather is amazing though, it knows when it's school run time, both ends of the day and saves a load of rain and wind to pour down and gust through your wet tight-ed (is that a word?! ) legs, and ruin your lovely grey suede boots, and frizz up your hair that you spent hours sodding drying and straightning just because there's nowt else to do! Am feeling a bit grumpy about the weather TBH, can you tell?!

Hiya Ses (you can breathe, I've had my moan!) Ooooh yes, somewhere hot (well, alright, nearly had my moan!!) Dubai, that's where I'd go!

Diege · 05/11/2009 17:26

You'll all right about the weather, it really does know when it's school run-time . And when you've just had your hair blow-dried straight at the hairdressers
LOL at . Just glanced at them and though, ooh Easter ones, shows how addled my brain is at the moment
Pretty much shopped out here too, but it only lasts a few hours and then I'm recharged to start again. Have just bought what must be one of the few pairs of Mini Boden PJs left - why don't they stock sufficiently for the likes of me and TINKS!!!!
Am postponing bonfire night as it is pelting it down, dds not impressed!
Lots of good vibes for the house please as should know by end of tomorrow what's going on - failing that get the wax dolls ready

essenceofSES · 06/11/2009 10:02

Morning!

Had a lovely text from a friend of mine this morning. His engagement with his GF of 3yrs broke off a year ago and he met a new partner back in the summer. Well the text was a scan piccie and she's pg and due in May!! I've not met his new GF yet but I'm really pleased for them. He is a fantastic guy and will be a brilliant dad

Off to pick my mum up from hospital later. Keyhole surgery on her shoulder last night seems to have been pretty straightforward.

Hope everyone's having a good morning and Diege, I hope you get good news on the move soon.

IWroteOffLightningMcQueen · 06/11/2009 10:51

Good morning

Aww Ses, that's lovely news Hope your mum isn't feeling too battered and bruised.

Tink, no, I am very bad mummy and don't take them to groups, TBH, before I was driving it was pretty much impossible, there were none basically! Have been invited to go to a parent/toddler group thing here, but it's in the church, and it is religion based, and we're just not religious at all. Not sure I could sit through prayers and worship before and after, in a church, when I just don't 'get it', kind of feels disrespectful, IYKWIM? Although, I'm not religious, so wouldn't feel comfortable joining in, I am respectful of others beliefs and I would feel like I was snubbing them or something for not joining in.

Well, I have cleaned the bathrooms, cleaned the kitchen, hoovered and polished, put yesterday's three loads of washing away and put two more in the washer (only another 2 or 3 to go and we'll be caught up from the move!) unpacked two boxes (won't count how many more of them there are!) got all the boys up, washed, dressed, breakfasted, and DS1 off to school, am about to make a good start on the bday/xmas shopping and ring my mum, the council tax for old and new house, I need to send both of our drivers licence's off to change the address (only bloody got mine yesterday!), got online accounts to change the address/phone numbers etc., and unpack some more bloody boxes no doubt! Oh and now put DS2's snap trax together.... oh the joy! That deffo deserves a !

Kayzr · 06/11/2009 11:07

Morning.

Ses, that is lovely news!! Congrats to your friend.

I think I am coming down with the boys cold. I feel really rubbish this morning and TBH I just want to go to bed. DH is at work until 1:15 and we're meant to be meeting him from work. I just text him to say we weren't coming and could he get some potatoes, well he's left his bloody wallet here!! That must deserve a .

Also he is getting on my nerves as we're going to London next Friday and I'm trying to find somewhere nice to have dinner. We're going to Westfield so thought we could get something there but he gives me no input at all. He just says "wherever you want" which does my head in.

Sorry I didn't mean for it to turn into a rant.

OP posts:
IWroteOffLightningMcQueen · 06/11/2009 11:22

Morning Kay

Sorry, also meant to say I am wishing loads of luck to Diege, I know how stressful it can all get, fingers crossed they engage their brains before their arses hey?!

Diege · 06/11/2009 11:53

Morning! Thanks for good wishes for the house. Still no real progress as such - think they're holding out for the original canal plans and while the ship company are willing to help it may take weeks to dig them out of whereever they are festering after such a long time. Plan B is to get a structural engineer to take them around the site to convince them that all is well - hopefully we can get this arranged for this weekend. Feeling quite ill with it all - shest isn't clearing and I'm covcered in excema.Def the not knowing is the worst thing!
Great news about your friend SES . Hope your mum has a good recovery too.
TINKS, you do sound busy. Have to say I've never really done much in the way of groups, mainly because of being at work plus the one on my day off was a church one ; really silly, but like NAT feel rather grabby and intrusive if I go to a religious one when I don't attend church. May go back to Jo jingles with ds when L is at school next year though.
Know what you mean about washing NAT - think we will have the most depressing thing ever to contend with - packing up dirty washing
Sorry about poorlies KAYZ - know what you mean about 'you decide attitude', does grate
Right better get lunches done - dd1 poorly so nearly a full house here (dh off too)

IWroteOffLightningMcQueen · 06/11/2009 15:21

Still got my fingers crossed for you Diege

Well, that's xmas and bdays sorted except stocking fillers and DS1's laptop Tesco have got a 3 for 2 on all the toys Also ordered new mattress for us, a new watch for me, a new hair dryer for me, erm.... some small little drawers things for our bathroom, that are erm... for me Haven't done anything else that was on the list, though I did get DS2 to eat some minestrone soup which I was quite proud of myself for, t'was yummy!

Got school run, in the rain, again. !

tinkisthrillerthrillernight · 06/11/2009 15:39

i had school run in rain 2 typical timing!!!
have now worked out that bisuict symbil is a jammy dodger have they removed the eyes.

i have to go out to gropus hate sitting in.

hi diege
get well soon kay

Diege · 06/11/2009 15:56

I LOVE sitting in though I do always feel better for having made the effort and gone out, even if it's just a short walk round the block.
Dh has gone to estate agents with an e-mail from engineer who apparently oversaw the work when the house was built. Along the lines that there's no risk etc, but who knows what strange parallel universe the buyers occupy
Trying fireworks again tonight after aborted mission last night due to rain (same rain that's still here) though with added pressure of dd2's school friend also being in attendance.Dd3's birthday tomorrow so have just finished wrapping Barbie tatt and the like...Playbarn tomorrow, but we're going early to make it as painless as possible and the relies are arriving pm.
Hope everyone has a good weekend!
